2361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins destroyed if unused, to keep bitcoin supply known? on: January 28, 2014, 10:22:27 PM
It's a great idea, we should also break into people's houses and banks and burn any money / throw away gold, paintings, heirlooms, etc that they haven't used for awhile.

Good analogy. Please post it again when someone bring this topic up next time. Smiley

he has a wallet but most of his btc is on a watch only address  I maintain
Told him that if he would have done it a year ago he would have been a rich kid 3:-)

If that happened, you would be the rich dad, and your kid only would have a huge balance in a watch-only address lol.

xD kind of, however it's a separate address, and we agreed he can take control whenever he feels it's safe
he understands the risks but doesn't want to go to paper wallet so this is kind of a happy middle.
i also discussed it here on a thread a few months ago

Reasonable. I guess you don't want him to spend his btc on some stupid or illegal things as well  Wink
2363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gifting on: January 28, 2014, 10:03:38 PM
Hi everyone! I'm extremely new to bitcoin and forums as well. I'm extremely interested in it though. I just set up my wallet (I think I did it right).

I was wondering if anyone would like to make a donation to my wallet to see if I actually did it right. I just want to observe the transaction and see something other than 0.00 BTC in there lol. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to figure out how to get an efficient mining operation going so if I actually end up making some BTC's, I would be more than happy to return your donation plus a percentage!

My ultimate goal is to make enough money to pay for college tuition. As it stands, I'd prefer not to keep borrowing money from the Federal Government to get an education. I'd much rather pay for tuition myself and not have to owe them anything. I'm studying to be a Chemical Engineer, in other words, tuition will not be cheap! lol

Thanks guys!

Whatever you do, just don't join the system that's been pitched in this thread!

And now OP is completely deleted. Smiley

Wiki, you're imaginative.

Think what you think all and just think what could of been.

He should step down from the foundation ASAP.

"Guard! Guard!"

"What is it, Chuck?"

"I need to make a phone call ASAP!"

"To a lawyer?"

"No! To The Bitcoin Foundation. I want to make sure they don't give my seat away. BTW, can I have another blanket? Guard! GUARDDD!"

Sad to hear your loss, but please don't commit suicide.
Please think about your family before harming yourself.
2370  Other / Off-topic / Re: Exec in death plunge from JP Morgan skyscrape [BITCOIN RELATED DEATH?] on: January 28, 2014, 09:28:10 PM
i feel this story is a counterpart to the other topic about the first bitcoin suicide. purely to show that bitcoin does not cause death. but money, in any form causes death..

Bitcoin truely is a banker owners worse nightmare.

True, but this death is not bitcoin related....
2371  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there any btc offer sites that are easy and actually worth my time? on: January 28, 2014, 02:21:42 AM
Faucetfm.com - Get paid 300 satoshi every 10mins of listening to your favorite internet radio.

That's more than 1 penny per hour! Sign me up! I'm going to be rich! Wink

lol.
You could get a lot more (like a few pennies per hour) if you spam your referral links. Tongue
2372  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Still not jr member... on: January 28, 2014, 02:19:00 AM
You are already a jr member now.

Activity is updated every 30 minutes.

So, it is possible to have some lag.
Odd I reached the required activity 3-4 days ago

Indeed, there was a bug and theymos fixed it yesterday.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=425243.20

There's apparently a bug preventing Newbies from being promoted. I'll look into it when I have time. I don't think that there's any major disadvantage to being a Newbie now.

Edit: Fixed.

I fixed the bug preventing Newbie promotion.
2373  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: "The last posting from your IP was less than 360 seconds ago..." on: January 28, 2014, 02:14:17 AM
I have the same problem, I can t post even If i just logged on, can someone please tell me how to fix this?

I think I read that logging in counts as a post.

Yup, actions like signing up, logging in, searching will reset the timer.
So, mysicguy, you can't post when you just logged in, you need to wait 360 seconds.

IIRC, the time limit will be just 75 seconds when you reach 15 activity.
2374  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help!! Can't get coins back or to destination on: January 28, 2014, 02:11:26 AM
problem solved took an older backup of wallet and overwrote the existing one (after making a backup). it rescanned and they are back

Glad you solve the problem.
Luckily, you have not generated and used 100+ addresses after making your "older backup".
Otherwise, you would have made an unrecoverable loss.

2376  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: $100 SPREAD BETWEEN MTGOX AND BITSTAMP (AND BTC-E) on: January 28, 2014, 01:58:58 AM
At the time of writing this the spread between mtgox and bitstamp/btc-e is greater than $200.
Is gox really that insolvent?

Maybe.
I mean, seriously who is really buying or selling bitcoin there?

If there is little trading there, mtgox will only receive little trading fee, and the insolvency problem can only be worse and worse.
2377  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC price analysis after the January 31st Deadline on: January 28, 2014, 01:55:05 AM
I thought people had heaard about it enough that I don't need to cite it anymore. January 31st is the last day payment companies and banks are allowed to deal in bitcoin.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-12-17/china-bans-payment-companies-from-clearing-bitcoin-news-says.html

You left out something very important: "January 31st is the last day payment companies and banks are allowed to deal in bitcoin in China."

Thanks, yes it's only china. Really, I'm not here to spread any FUD, I'm sorry if it seemed so. It's just that I've dealt with this news so often that I guess I'm being a little causal about it.

The situation is so much different with and without the two words lol.
Thanks for your clarification though.  Smiley
2378  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [EARN BTC] 0.001 BTC for 1 minute of work [ ANDROID ONLY] on: January 28, 2014, 01:51:48 AM
Hello!

I have made an application for android, and I would like your guy to 5 stars rate my application.

This is how you can make 0.001BTC in 1 minute:
  • Go to the Google Play Store
  • Rate my app 5 stars with a good review
  • Give me your BTC adress
  • Do it as many time as android device you can access

IMPORTANT: I only want reliable review from real users, so no bot or shit like this!

I pay each review directly after you have done them.

If you have an android device, if you know people who have one, just make them rate my application and you'll get 0.0001 BTC/review.

PM me (with your skype ID if you have), or post here for more details.

Vouches

I'm guessing your purposely put .001 in the title and then .0001 in the thread. So, which is it? Even if it is the former, hope your expectations are not high for the content of a review you're paying 70 cents for, and if it's 7 cents... ya, good luck Smiley

Guess he did that on purpose as well.

2380  Economy / Gambling / Re: LuckyBit - putting suspense back into gambling on: January 28, 2014, 01:40:37 AM
Bet 0.0005 on green 0.4x : 0.0002 fees 0.0002return.
= 0x.
Btw a're you asking this Srsly ?

how can u call this 0.4x ?
0.0005 bet is 70% free money for the owner and 0 risk.

Why 0.0002 fee?
Isn't the bettor receive 0.0001 in this case?
Yep, that's right. Fee is 0.0001 and the bettor would get 0.0001. We thought that such small bets of 0.0005 were nice for newcommers to try the game first time to "see if it works". But obviously you cannot earn much by playing such tiny amounts repeatedly.

I see.

BTW, I agree with Kyraishi that you should warn the players the significance of tx fees.
Bettors can make a min bet to check if the site is working and paying, but they shouldn't play dozens of min bets.
It is no good for both the bettors and your site.
