2381  Economy / Speculation / Re: Have you noticed that recently Bitcoin went up without big news? on: February 21, 2021, 08:31:55 PM
It's not a secret that majority of the price action happened when there were big news about institutional buys - PayPal, Microstrategy, Tesla, adoption by Visa and so on. But recently Bitcoin has been going up without any such things. The Tesla-induced pump ended at around $48,000 and now we're almost $10,000 higher than that.

So, who is buying? Are institutional investors grabbing it quietly? Or is it retailers joining the bull run?
The reason is institutional investors, the recent news is that a Dubai based businessman pledged $4.8 billion worth of BTCitcoin to set up a project in the US and may be that is the reason. There are big investments in the market and big companies are investing left and right and we are not even seeing any corrections with all these rallies which is crazy, who knows how big it will go in this rally.

Alright, let me answer you and others that call out eth decentralization and defend binance shitcoin.
Imagine this scenario:
I am not defending ETH nor BNB and the limitless shitcoins, i care less about the token market. The point i will make is that i like the ETH concept and Vitalik wanted that in BTCitcoin and since the developers knew that it is nearly impossible to have everything in one umbrella and it might be a disaster as anything could go wrong with all these scripts and make things worst and he created his own scalable script and they were mocking the snail ridden transaction delays of BTCitcoin and years down the line what happened to ETH, they need to change the algorithm altogether and their initial theory which they thought was infallible failed multiple times.

The rest of the things you mentioned i also do not have a different opinion, majority or all of the coins are mere clones and if developers wants to use a different clone with less transaction charges can you complain them ?.

I'm not sure you understood what I meant. Read my post again. In order to understand why Binance is faster, you need to understand how the network works. Etehreum is hosted on 11000+ nodes that can be ran by ANYONE. That means you can go right now, download a node and run it, help secure the network etc. Each transaction that happens on Ethereum chain needs to be synced across all nodes. What Binance did is, change the tiny bit of code, to only allow only their nodes to validate transaction (21 of them). On Binance chain, each transaction is only synced with that 21 nodes ran by Binance. Thats one of the reasons its faster. If thats fine with anyone, then honestly you are not meant to be here.

You didn't answer my question, would you use FastBitcoin or not?
I clearly understood what you said, just read what i marked in bold. What i was trying to tell is that if any developers wants to move to other platforms it is their choice and CZ knows how to do business and i never invested in any of these projects and i care less if developers are moving to any N number of clones and the price starts pumping.

Do you think people are here in the market for the novelty of any project, in the early days you might see only developers but majority that came after just wants to cash the profits when some shit coins pump and they do not care about anything else.

Since you are asking repeatedly whether i would jump into FastBitcoin or any shit coins in 2021 i will not, in the past i jumped into Namecoin, Litecoin Peercoin Doge and other projects for fun and so does everyone but right now it is not fun anymore.

Shame about Curtis, I really like him, and he was definitely in control. He was actually winning the stand up, and he didn't actually need to use his wrestling. Lewis was looking to catch up whenever he tried to level change, which meant he was cagey in the stand up which is what gave Curtis the edge. He should of kept going as he was, and I think he might have put Lewis down or force Lewis to stop thinking about catching him, and start trading more which would of naturally opened it up for a takedown.
Derrick Lewis even when he is gassed out and in last seconds of the fight where he is completely dominated will look for a knockout punch, remember the Alexander Volkov fight where he was completlely dominated the fight and with only 15 seconds to go for a dominating victory for Alexander Volkov, somehow Derrick Lewis who was gassed out completely produced a knockout victory. The same against Travis Browne where he was hurt badly and could not stand straight he was able to find a knockout punch and then produced his famous in ring line  Cheesy

2 more weeks for the big Adesanya card which is going to be a absolute banger of a card. Maybe, not the best card for us bettors, but a brilliant card for entertainment.
Amanda Nunes is on a tear for several years and for Megan Anderson to defeat Amanda it will be a huge upset and the odds are tempting  Grin Maybe i will wage a bet on all the underdogs as we will see some upsets.
2384  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: February 21, 2021, 03:54:13 PM
Rashid Khan is freaking beast in T-20 format. Its surprises me that he's been around in international area for fair amount of time and feature in almost every franchise cricket, still no batsmen able to figure out his tactics and mystery balls. Every one struggles against him at least in T-20 format and now he's becoming a hitter too.
The reason why everyone struggles to understand the variations of Rashid Khan even when all his deliveries are scrutinize with slow motion camera is his release point with every delivery and his arm rotation, he releases the ball in 7 or more different wrist position without having any major changes to his bowling action and it is difficult to read the deliveries.

Ajantha Mendis was a mystery bowler but he did not have many variations and once everyone studied his actions he did not evolve but Rashid khan is always evolving as a spinner and it will confuse the batsman and he does have a smart cricketing brain.
2385  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Something to consider when selling your BTC... on: February 21, 2021, 12:53:59 PM
The number of companies and institutions owning BTC will get larger and larger and the number of people holding a nice amount of BTC will get smaller and smaller.
In other words do not give everything to the big whales and try to remain in this select club because once you do it you may not be able to take them back. You may think you can but most probably you won't.
With the price of BTCitcoin moving higher it is hard for any normal citizen even with upper middle class salary will be able to invest for an entire BTCitcoin and only the rich and institutional investors can afford to acquire an entire BTCitcoin and it is not a big surprise, if you were smart enough to invest when the price was low then you could have made a fortune and the coins once sold at lower valuation is gone forever as you cannot expect the price to be below $5000 even during a bear run.

2387  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Doge or Bitcoin? Which to buy? on: February 20, 2021, 10:33:58 PM
Doge is the only real choice, if you want to limit your options.

Simple math and odds,
are the odds better that
Doge increases to $1  ( a 2000X increase )
or
that Bitcoin increases to $100000000  ( a 2000X increase )
Your profit is the same either way.
The math is good but the odds of Doge reaching $1 is highly unlikely, the price had some huge pump but that does not mean that it will keep on rallying. There are other alts that could give him a much bigger profit than investing in Doge.

The little guys and 3rd worlders are done with BTC ,
Doge is the only real game left, as it has become the major trading pair for all altcoins below $1.
Not true, the trading volume of Nigeria, some parts of Europe, Colombia, Kenya and India to name a few have high trading trading volume.

@OP the price is rallying and it is not a good time to invest until you are willing to take the risk.
2388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on BNB (Why it won’t replace ETH) on: February 20, 2021, 07:59:16 PM
What is the point of Ethereum? To run decentralized applications. What Binance did, is basically saying lets copy Ethereum code and change (remove) the decentralized (the most important) part of it and rebrand it as something new.
Will it replace eth? No.
Is it really decentralized, how about DAO fork if it was truly decentralized it will never happen and do you have any idea about how many unplanned forks happened in ETH and with all this you cannot call them truly decentralized  Tongue.

Replacing ETH depends upon project developers and if they find some other platform attractive and it could help them without any hassle they might choose another platform and we are literally in the initial stages and only time will tell what all will survive.

This remind me the most of Shitcoin Cash and what they tried to do before.
It took years of debates to reach a decision to fork and that is what decentralized means and not like ETH simply forking without any consensus Tongue.
2389  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: List of the best Bookmakers in India on: February 20, 2021, 05:18:14 PM
You should move this thread to local indian board as this information is more related for the Indian gamblers who may need to contact bookmakers only within India.
The sites mentioned are global gambling sites and it is not solely for India and the only site i played is Bet365 and it is one of the best sites with a lot of betting options and i stopped playing as it is a hassle to deposit the money and then you need to pass through multiple websites to deposit and all those sites have fees and then to deposit them back to the back account the charges are really high and now we have cryptocurrency sites and those are pretty decent and i would use them rather than going through those hassles.

Anyone knows what is Ross Ulbricht bitcointalk account?
Maybe silkroad?
Ross Ulbricht had multiple accounts here in the forum and altoid was one of his main account and from what i understand some of the posts are deleted .

Will watch the movie, i wish everyone can sign the petition for his release Freeross because the sentence he got cannot be justified considering he never sold drugs, all he did was host a site and the biggest drug sellers on the site got a maximum sentence of 10 years and below.
2391  Economy / Reputation / Re: ChipMixer directly enables Scammers, Drug Dealers, CP, Terrorists, Tax Evaders.. on: February 20, 2021, 01:19:56 PM
There is a good example, namely the SilkRoad platform.
Which many of the respected members of the forum supported in their time. Remember how it all began?
If you were around you will understand the circumstances, BTCitcoin was a new market and no one had any idea about its direction except the fact that it had potential and it is not a big surprise everyone is an anarchist and when Silk Road was discussed everyone was interested because we will have a market place to use BTCitcoin and many were skeptical about illegal activities as well, so you need to understand the context of the situation rather than pointing fingers after a decade.
2392  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 20, 2021, 11:30:10 AM
The key to victory for Jan Błachowicz is that to test the ground game of Israel Adesanya, no one tested that till now and everyone fought his fight and in the stand up battle
Israel Adesanya did not fight anyone who could take him down and test his ground game even though there were wrestlers they were either not successful in taking him down and keeping him on the ground

Jan Błachowicz is a black belt in BJJ and he started with Judo so his ground game is more than enough to challenge Adesanya and it all depends upon the game plan on how to retain his belt.
The favorite submission move for Jan Błachowicz is the rare naked choke and Israel Adesanya is the master of distance and i am expecting the fight going 5 rounds.

It appears that Khamzat Chimaev’s fight vs. Leon Edwards will be cancelled again because of Chimaev’s complications from the coronavirus. Hyped or not, this is very disappointing considering that Khamzat is the only fighter that will make the welterweight division very exciting again.
Khamzat Chimaev is yet to recovery fully after he was infected with corona virus and he was taken to hospital multiple times during light training sessions because of breathing issues, so it might take a long time for him to return and sure he was exciting for the division.

Israel usually delivers just because of the nature of the way he fights. Stand up is often fun to watch, but honestly I think if someone can take down Israel it might be either really interesting on how he deals with it, or a complete chink in his armour.
Kelvin Gastelum and Yoel Romero are great wrestlers but their game plan does not revolve around keeping them down and whenever they tried the ground game Israel Adesanya was able to defend them and the only fighter that can test him on the ground will be Jon Jones but i doubt the ego of Jones neglects the ground game and wants him to defeat Adesanya on the feet Cheesy.

Bad auction for almost every batsmen. Top scorer of BBL Alex Hales also goes unsold along with many other batsmen. Marnus is not big name in T-20 but he's entertaining personality when on the field. He deserve some bidding for his ranting, needy, innocent nature (he's kind of "Taare Zameen Par" Type of guy), I like him.
The auction looked like some sort of favoring the players they like the most, reject good players while paying huge amount of money to players who never performed well in the IPL like Steven Smith and Glen Maxwell and Piyush Chawla and Harbhajan Singh getting big amounts as well and they are not playing international cricket for along time while neglecting some youngsters and the most controversy will be the inclusion of Arjun Tendulkar and there are talks of nepotism popping up again  Cheesy.
2394  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin goes mainstream as institutions hold 3% of BTC’s circulating supply on: February 19, 2021, 02:01:46 PM
You need to understand that mainstream does not mean that a few institutional investors are holding 3% of BTCitcoin in circulation. In my view main stream should mean when majority of people enters the market and not just when a few institutional investors hold majority of the coins.
The rally is based on these institutional investments in the past one year and some of the multi national companies are trying to incorporate BTCitcoin in their business.
I am kind of confused in this one, there was a thread about this about the amount that the institutional investors are hodling and it was around <=1%  so I can't believe this number exactly because there is a conflict. For me, mainstream is a combination of the companies and the public adopting bitcoin. We can't really blame that they buy a lot of bitcoin because the public individually is very weak and can't afford a lot of bitcoin. Can't be worried about it though, as more of this companies continuously buy bitcoin then the more the price increase because there are less in supply.
The total amount of BTCitcoin held by institutional investors is worth billions and it is hard to evaluate how much they are holding without all of them revealing how much they are holding. Mainstream in my view is always more people coming into the market rather than BTCitcoin can be termed as a capitalist tool where only people with huge investment can use. I knew this is coming and there is nothing you can do about it.
2395  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Three Indians arrested over illegal betting in ZACS on: February 19, 2021, 01:12:31 PM
From what i understand which i saw online they will be fined a minor amount of 100 Taka which is less than two dollar and an imprisonment of one month as per the laws and it is nothing big for someone who have the audacity to travel to Bangladesh and trying to take advantage of the telecast delay and then somehow manage to enter the stadium when audience are not allowed  Grin.

I am afraid that they won't be able to get away with a 100 Taka fine. That is the penalty for going out without a mask or defying the social distancing norms. These guys were trying to cheat gambling sites and the amounts involved is quite large. I won't be surprised if they get some sort of prison term. And the nationality is going to be another problem. Coming to Bangladesh with a tourist visa, and indulging in this sort of behavior won't be taken lightly by the court.
The court can only follow the rules and legislation of the country and the maximum sentence according to the law is three months and i think you get three months if you are found repeating and a fine of 200 Taka. Moving around without mask will not carry a jail sentence, the most they will do is fine for not following the pandemic protocol. You need to understand prostitution is legal in Bangladesh and to have a complete ban on gambling is ridiculous and anyone from the country can vouch for that.
2396  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Motley Fool adds Bitcoin to model portfolio *and* buys some too on: February 18, 2021, 11:58:16 PM
Online investment advisor and traditional Bitcoin skeptic Motley Fool is adding Bitcoin to its high risk portfolio and even buying $5m for its own balance sheet because:

(1) Better than gold
(2) Will become more of a medium of exchange when volatility decreases
(3) Inflation hedge
(1) Depends on the preference, gold is always considered as a safe investment and with the price of BTCitcoin above $50k, i would easily choose gold over BTCitcoin and the reason is high volatility.

(2) It is a currency and a medium of exchange, the only issue is the lack of a perfect scaling solution but if you are waiting for the volatility to decrease, it will never happen as it is a global market.
2397  Other / Off-topic / Re: Deontay Wilder: He makes another WILD conspiracy theory about his loss to Fury on: February 18, 2021, 10:20:41 PM
Not many details of this case were made public.

Reading between the lines, it seems Max Holloway's old manager put something in his water or food which led to him having negative symptoms resembling a concussion.
I clearly remember the Max Holloway situation as he was clearly stumbling with his words during a media interview and many notified that something is wrong with his behavior as he was clearly not looking good let alone fight.

But here Wilder is making up things, he was never spiked and he had a good walk to the arena and there was nothing wrong and the exact moment he lost his balance is when he was hit in the side of the head by Fury and after that he was wobbly and it was clear he will not recover as he is not known to have great movement in the ring and Fury was putting pressure all the time and he was overwhelmed with punches.

It's not like we can get a refund from the developers at this point, so it seems this change is inevitable.
The amount of money spent means it is inevitable we will see an upgrade but i am comfortable with the current set up and even if they move as you said i would like to have the option to use the current forum as well, i am not looking for two different forums but multiple options to toggle between SMF and Epochtalk and with the same database it is possible Wink.

2399  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen if the major holders of bitcoin all decided to sell it all? on: February 18, 2021, 05:02:27 PM
It's kind of concerning that so few people hold so much bitcoin.

Are these holders even active or what? I'm guessing they bought at the beginning and are all just holding.
Hope you are aware that the article is published in 2018, majority of the early miners will be holding a huge amount of BTCitcoin and in recent years there are many institutional investors investing heavily in BTCitcoin and if they decide to sell off the coins in huge amount then it might affect the price if there are not many buyers and with institutional investors they might even purchase all the coins.
2400  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin goes mainstream as institutions hold 3% of BTC’s circulating supply on: February 17, 2021, 07:49:14 PM
Institutional investors are rapidly gobbling up Bitcoin, and currently, nearly 3% of the Bitcoin (BTC) in circulation are locked up in long-term holdings by these investors.
