CHEERS
MIKE

I did not release all btc to leviarcoin. I still hold the coins of all investors that did not contact me yet or did not provide proof. Next batch of refunds for those who asked for a refund and provided a proper proof will be sent out on monday or tuesday.

Also I do not have any info about you as far as I see in my notes. I am not part of the dev-team and as independent party between investor and issuer I can not trust on data the issuer gives me. That would hold potential risks of being scammed so that is not an option.

That is why I don't need or have access to the database of leviarcoin. I am not part of their team. Which, by the way, should be the case for an escrow who is worth this name.

I did wrote in the thread repeatedly that everyone who invested with btc needs to contact me. Also leviarcoin would write this to everyone in his own interest to be able to receive the btc of those who want to receive their xlc. And it has been mentioned in the first post from the start that I will be the escrow for the btc investments.

Regarding who am I. Please see my escrow thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1102721.0

I can sign a message for you to confirm that I am still the same person I was back then in 2013 when I started escrowing btw holding big amounts of community member funds.

Please read how escrows on bitcointalk work and why escrows were some needed step in the bitcoin community to happen. Before scamming was a plague which escrows helped bringing down a lot.

Looks like the forum on ethereum.org is pretty much useless. I asked some things but no answer at all. So I will try here again.

It looks like Mist is unuseable for me. I can't let it run all the time. Doesn't make sense.

1.) I tried to use the fast flag but it looks like I can't use it on windows in the newer versions. Is that correct?
2.) I use Mist because it is the official wallet and should have the full capability with smart contracts and so on. Is there a safe alternative that have all the full functionality like mist has? Myetherwallet.com has his own risks I guess. Parity lately showed broken multisig contracts, which is bad since I would use that. So can you suggest a wallet I search for?
3.) I want to accept ETH payments. Each investor should receive his own ether address which is rather complicated with the mist wallet, for example. I would need to have a connection ETH-Investment address and user. Any suggestion on that?

Thank you!

Hi SebastianJu.

1) Normally the fast flag should work but I think there are some prerequisites:
     - you shouldn't have started downloading the chaindata yet
     - you may have to first run geth using cmd
You should find a step-by-step workaround here.

2) I've heard MEW, Parity and Jaxx are the most common alternatives to Mist out there (I personally use Mist). I don't think there is any problem using Parity if you want to, given that you don't use multisig wallets that often and that the sloppy code on Parity's multisig wallet contract has been repaired.
Please note that unlike Parity and Mist, MEW is an online wallet which you should have noticed given that you're talking about some "risks". That also mean that you won't have to run a node which means that you won't have any problem downloading chaindata if you don't have a good internet connection and an SSD but also means that you won't run a node (obviously) which is that less help for the network.
In any case, don't forget to save at least an UTC/JSON copy of your private key on some cold storage you own to prevent any ETH loss.
Finally don't forget to check that you're accessing the website of the wallet of your choice using the right URL: there's plenty of fishing attempts out there (especially for MEW).

3) If I recall correctly, you already asked for something like this some time ago (you wanted to create multiples addresses in a row). Now that I see you slightly changed your question, I understand that you gave up on your previous idea. I still don't see why all your investors can't manage to create their address themselves but that should be part of your business plan Wink
Anyway, ENS ledger is designed to make a link between a human-readable address and an ETH account. You may wan't to create an ENS domain name for each of your investors ?

Please note that if you wan't some answers to your questions to come, I think the Ethereum official subreddit is the right place to go.

Thanks for you answer and sorry for the waiting time.

The fast-flag seems to not be useable anymore. The path "\Ethereum-Wallet-win64-0-7-4\resources\node\geth" doesn't exist anymore int 0.9.0. So is fast not available anymore? Is there a workaround?

It would be nice to have a way to save disc space like pruned on bitcoin. Ethereum eats a lot of my harddisc space.

Regarding 3.
What I search is a way to accept eth-payments. The individual addresses are only used to know which investor owns an address in order to know which uses sent an investment. With one ETH-Address everyone has to pay onto the same address.
I have something in mind like a website where users create an account with user and pass, maybe 2fa also. Then they want to invest and I provide them an eth address I only tell this user. By doing so I know that only he will know the address and only he would send eth on to it.
That's all I search. Otherwise a single investment address for all would be fine also.

MANY READING THIS FORUM MAY START TO WONDER WHO YOU !! ARE

YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVE A LARGE STAKE IN GETTING THIS OVER THE LINE SO YOU CAN DUMP ASAP IT GOES TO A TRADER

MOVE BACK AND STOP BLOCKING THE PROCESS OF OPEN COMMUNICATION FOR THOSE OF US THAT JUST WANT WHAT WE PAID FOR.... OR WORKED FOR, for some

IF YOU WANT .. GET SEBASTIAN TO TALK TO MY MUM, SHE'S DEAD, BUT UP FOR IT

Leviarcoin is right. He does not have your BTC. I am the escrow for the BTC in this ICO. So I hold the BTC until I either release them to leviarcoin to release the xlc or I refund the investor. You need to contact me to move on one way or the other. Leviarcoin can not do anything without that.

mist wallet momentarily is syncing so slow that I get a block synched every new block that gets found in the network. I will never go further than the 25K spread I guess.  Roll Eyes

No solution there?

Hey SebastianJu.

If you have a slow internet connection and an HDD, it's only normal syncing become slower and slower given that the number of transactions by block and therefore the blocksize is getting bigger with time (see on Etherscan). Moreover, when using Mist, you're setting an Ethereum node which is good for the network but means that from time to time your blockchain copy will be partly downloaded by someone else (like when you're using any P2P software) which means random reading access to your disk which, again, is not working that good with HDDs.

To give you an example, I have a fiber connection to the Internet and a 7200 rpm HDD and I have to wait for roughly 2 days to catch up the blockchain after a 4 days deconnection.

So if you have some troubles catching up, I can only advise you to buy an SSD or to use some online wallet of your own choice.

Hi Fargusson,

it's the official wallet. And I know there are a lot of noobs that used mist to receive funds and then realize that they can not spend it. Searching for a solution about it.

It might be the HDD, I run it on a hybrid disc. The problem is not the CPU, it's using 11% only.

Question remains... how is it possible that mist is using the harddisc to heavily? I mean it doesn't write tenth of GB on the disk of blocks in the chain. It's calculating something or so. Even though geth already uses nearly 4 GB of RAM. So this sounds like a highly inefficient calculation routine or something in that area.

Greetings!
Sebastian

PS: Is there a safe vanitygen Creator for ethereum accounts?
PSS: In case I would like to create 1000 ethereum accounts automatically to give every investor his personal investment address, which wallet can do that and in a safe way?

This is my biggest dissapointment of all coins. I bought Leviar coin for 100 euro, and after unsuccessful ICO sale i saw that i have 934.4000 leviar coins, but i choosed to refund my BTC, and I sent a message to SebastianJu, he replied me with some methods for proof my acc, I told him that I didn't understood proof section and explain to him from where I bought, what is my acc, my depossit adress, everythig i know. Nothing changed, unfriendly metodh, my 100 euro is still there. Shame on u Leviar coin team!

After checking your pm's you did not even give me the minimum informations at all that I would have needed to create an entry in the refund list. Which is a pretty easy task. Also there are a number of methods needed to proof that you aren't a random person.

Please understand that if you do not want to put this minimum effort into receiving a refund that I can not send something somewhere. Otherwise some random person could come and claim your investment also. I need to protect all investors investments so everyone can receive his investment.

I can help you on my slack channel if you send me your email address. Which was also written in the text I sent you, by the way.
You have a messagge. Sorry for interuppting but if I say that I dont understand proof section, then I really dont understand, my english isnt so good as u think. This was my first coin.

Your english looked pretty fine all the time. In any case you can ask me questions about certain parts you don't understand. Let's move this to pm or to slack then.

252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How is the BCC fork happening? on: August 02, 2017, 12:43:13 AM
And how can this be done safely and surely without the transaction being accepted on the other chain also?

To "split" your coins safely, assuming you have a trusted environment and BTC wallet in the first place:

  • Create an completely new BTC wallet, i.e. not sharing any keys with the old one
  • After the fork, move all your BTC from the old wallet to the new wallet
  • Once your old wallet is empty (on the BTC chain), export its private keys
  • Create a new "Bitcoin Cash" wallet, import private keys from your old BTC wallet

Now about the transaction not being accepted on the other chain:

The rationale behind replay protection is basically making transactions incompatible with the other chain by design, i.e. by consensus rules. If someone (or your wallet/client/whatever) records and broadcasts your transaction to the other chain, nodes will reject the transaction. You can read the UAHF specs that I linked in my previous post for the gory details.

Thanks for the explaination...
253  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ★LIST★ BitcoinTalk's Escrow Agents: Ranking & Blacklist ☠ Avoid Scammers ☠ on: August 01, 2017, 12:08:33 AM
buyer a
seller b  are the same person

buyer a sends coins with addy 12345

deal dies

buyer a says  addy 12345  is not good asks for refund  to addy 12346

seller never answers    so you decide to refund to addy 12346

buyer  a comes back says account was hacked you refunded to wrong addy

ogNasty  has his I only refund to send addy rule it stops this scam.

But in the isoneguy case  he did not have access to the send address and  he can prove it is still him.  they should have mediated with me.

I looked at it and see both points of view  but  losing a controlled btc addy can happen  and  if it does ogNasty's rule  does not protect the escrow  if he insists on burning the coins by sending to a dead account.

For instance your home  and core wallet floods out  no core the hdd store in a local bank  was also flooded.  refund is sent to a dead addy.

or I die (it will happen) wife proves I am dead and she does not  have password  to the core  but has access to say coinbase.

Escrow sends to core money = dead  wife sues escrow.

So if I  the escrow act with  the rule

send address must be  refund address    I am thinking of a few cases that I can be sued.

I am working on a modification to that rule.

that protects :

1)escrow
2)buyer
3)seller

Was the buyer really hacked? In any case, there is not really something that can be done except providing a further safety level like asking the buyer for a refund address before the deal start. Like Danny suggested. Or buyer and or seller provides a signature or a pgp key that can be used in case a refund has to happen.

Besides that... escrow would have to trust on the identity of the user. User has to make sure that his account is safe and not hacked. Escrow otherwise has to assume that he still deals with the same person.

With bigger amounts it might help to send a small amount first.

I had it happen that someone got hacked. Not sure if one of the users was the hacker or if it was a third party. Hacker had access to the sellers account and changed the receiving address. I asked back 2 times and always only received the answer that it is alright and the right address.

It turned out that the hacker, if it was so, deleted fast every incoming pm I sent to the seller and answered to me. Then deleted it from outbox also. Seller did not receive a notice about what went on. Probably didn't check email or hacker also deactivated email for new pm's. Not sure anymore.

In any case it is hard to protect against. At some level you have to trust that you still deal with the same person and the trader has to protect his account.
254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How is the BCC fork happening? on: July 31, 2017, 11:43:20 PM
Just wondering how they will fork. Normally on a bitcoin address tomorrow there are btc and bcc. Same amount.

Yes.

When does the coins divide?

August 1 12:20 UTC

When sending he bitcoins from there then the bcc would move together with them since the btc-transaction would also valid on the bcc-chain?

Also when sending bcc from a btc-address you would move the btc also since the bcc-transaction would be valid on the btc-chain also both coins?

There is reasonable replay protection in place, but malicious wallets fed with "common" private keys (pre-fork) could still tamper with your coins on the other chain, so the best is to split coins to a new wallet after the fork.

And how can this be done safely and surely without the transaction being accepted on the other chain also?

256  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTS] BTC-E code (USD) liability for Tether (USDT) with escrow - up to 2X gain on: July 31, 2017, 02:33:41 AM
I was asked by the OP to provide escrow for these deals. If someone wants to do this then I possibly can do that if the procedure has been fully negotiated.

I see the rules as:

Buyer and seller invest $5000. Total of $10K in the escrow address.
If after 5 months btc-e is not back then buyer and seller get their $5K back each.
If in these 5 months btc-e comes back then seller receives $5K from the buyer from escrow address and his $5K from seller he put into escrow address. Buyer would receive $10K in BTC and buyer would have paid $5K for it.

Let me know if someone wants to do this.

Please also let me know about potential risks in this setup.

I think you misunderstood a point, if the 5 months pass and btce does not come back online buyer does not get anything. Its basically like a double down on a roulette game, if you win and btce is back your money doubles, if you don't you lose it all and seller gets the jackpot.

I understood it more of a safety measure so that neither the buyer nor the seller would back out. If btc-e doesn't come back then buyer and seller get their safety measure back.

Was it meant differently OP?
257  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ★LIST★ BitcoinTalk's Escrow Agents: Ranking & Blacklist ☠ Avoid Scammers ☠ on: July 31, 2017, 01:27:50 AM
The only thing you can do that would be legal, in that case, would be to abide by your contract. There is no fault in following the contract through, even if it means the coins are lost forever. Everybody knew the deal when they signed it, and just because some freak accidents happened doesn't mean you get to break the contract and open yourself up for a lawsuit. To avoid that you could have them provide multiple addresses for refund. Why does there only need to be one address?

That being said it's unfortunate a lot of people doing escrow are not feeling up to it anymore. It's really hard to use crypto for peer to peer trades. Nobody is protected unless there is an escrow.

If you would send coins to an address when seller or buyer told you upfront this address can not be trusted anymore or is invalid then this might serve as a reason to sue if you still sent even being warned.

For big amounts it might make sense to send a small testtransaction to check out if the receiver really is the person you initiated the deal with. Wait some time to see if the real person intervenes and just then release the whole transaction.

Good posts lately. Made me thinking and revising my escrow details.

@philipma1957 What was the scam method happening. It sounds like I might know it but I'm not sure. Is there a link with full description?

Where are the devs? Started Mist wallet 10 hours ago. Till now it did not find a single block. I can't sync that way. It's always hanging in the state "Looking for peers...".

Any advice? Mist is unuseable that way.
