241  Bitcoin / Hardware / Avalon 6? Any owners out there? on: November 06, 2015, 10:34:20 PM
I just noticed a few sites are starting to sell these like the one below.  Just wondering if any bitcointalkers have anything in their hands to review?

TIA

Which PSU's are these?  The O ring terminal or the PCI connectors?  Different batches had different hash boards.

How long were these used before the boards went out?

I am interested.

I can provide large amount of any of those but I am US based.
245  Bitcoin / Mining support / I think I have found my next exhaust fans for my miners on: October 30, 2015, 09:18:41 PM
Grin  that is one powerful fan, I am pretty sure only 1 is turned on and the others are spinning due to the pressure differential.

I would like to see if anyone has an affordable, motherboard combo they would like to sell.  Looking for Mobo, Proc, and mem. US only due to shipping costs.

Thanks,
MC

I just gave one away. I have a set of two that was left over from scraping previous GPU rigs. Ping me your offer

I will PM you shortly. Are these just mobo or the combo? I think kingcolex wanted one as well.

I am just buying one combo at the moment, but sure piggy back on I am sure someone has these boards laying around and needing some BTC in exchange.

That amount is definitely high enough to do in person in a secure location.  OP should be-careful, do in person in a secure location with supporting legal documents.

This is a very nice feature.  Thanks for the info.
251  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S3 problem on: October 28, 2015, 04:12:39 PM
Sometimes this can happen from software corruption or using old configs on newer firmware.  I would update the miner with the latest firmware. Do not keep settings or upload a settings file.  Again make sure you do not keep settings.

Manual configuring everything after uploading the newest firmware.
252  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Can someone briefly explain 'Load' on an S3 on: October 27, 2015, 03:55:14 PM
Load is specific to the controllers CPU, this has nothing to do with the ASIC's other then the miner running to give work to the ASICs.
253  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTB 100 OR MORE ANTMINER S1 IN UK on: October 27, 2015, 03:36:58 PM
He must have free power, its not been profitable to run S1's in the UK for a long time because of our high electricity costs.
The vat cost is going to suck!

As far as I'm aware VAT is only applicable if he's buying from a business, shouldn't have VAT if its a private seller.

Could be wrong though I'm not sure about this to be honest.

Unfortunately for us all in the EU, you are wrong.

Whatever you buy that is valued over 25€/25$ outside EU will be charged VAT +  carrier fees for doing the paperwork when it arrives in EU.
VAT applies on the value of the item and on the value of the shipping, and of course on the fees charged by carrier company (DHL/FedEx,UPS...).
Only if you use Airmail, you can sometimes go through without paying VAT (usually works quite well on smaller packages).

I even had to pay VAT and fees on some of my own breakout boards sent back by Holybitcoin for RMA.

Simple example, you buy an item that is just 25€, with 15€ shipping on top, you will end up paying an extra 23€
8€ VAT on item + shipping, 15€ fees to the carrier company (average value for FedEx/DHL)

And the worst is that if you buy something with free shipping, the carrier company will still make you pay VAT on an arbitrary shipping value they will add over the item value.

So something that is 25€ with free shipping can sometimes translate into an extra 23€ VAT + fees too.

Ok I didn't know that, thanks very much for taking the time to explain it to me Smiley.

Could I fly to EU with the miners as carry on as my personal heater, then sell them in the same country I am visiting? VAT is only applied when a sale crosses borders correct?
254  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Antminer S1 on: October 25, 2015, 08:38:49 AM
These things can be had for free these days.

When I bought a miner locally, a seller wanted to give it to me for free and I even refused having free electricity.

Why would you refused if you have free electricity. Hook a bunch up and run them untill they get you enough for a s3 or s5. I wish some one would give me a bunch of s1 for free LOL I have free power.
I would have also taken them for free  Grin I'm going to give them to someone as a gift who has be=n interested in btc. I figured it would be a unique gift. I think I made a deal with MCHouston for two Antminers. If it goes through then I will no longer need more, but I will keep this thread open unitl then.

I didn't take it because I was low on power supplies at the time and it wouldn't be worth it buying a PSU just to power them up.

You would need at least 1 600-800W PSU just to power one of them.

I am not sure what you a referring to. 350W will power a unit just fine.

Wow this pool has lost over 6 PH in less then a week. Its a shame really. Its a decent pool.
256  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: fielding offers for 2 MW data center with 1.6 PH/s on: October 23, 2015, 08:21:34 PM
Testing the water to see if a serious buyer is out there.

We have a 2 MW facility with the cheapest power in the continental US.  Currently running at 1.6 PH/s, split between Spondoolies SPxx, Bitmain S4+ and S5+.

The 1.6 PH/s installed consumes approximately 800 kW, leaving 1.2 MW available for expansion.  When I say expansion, I mean literally put the machine on the rack and plug it in.  Everything is in place.....no more build-out is necessary.

This is a turnkey solution for a individual or business to become a serious player overnight.

Obviously the price tag is well north of $1,000,000, so please, SERIOUS responses and inquiries only.

What state is this located? What is the efficiency on the gear?

Also since you say you have the cheapest power, if my power is cheaper do you provide a discount on the facility?  Grin

We are in the Northwest.

The efficiency of the gear is public record......just look up the specs on the listed equipment.  We average approximately .5w/GH

If you have cheaper power than us, I would be stunned!  you can PM me with a number if you like, and I can let you know.

I am going to talk to a few people on my side, and see if we may want to go make an offer.

Thanks,
MC

258  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 23, 2015, 05:13:24 AM
Well if it has 2 blades, and it has S7 compact heatsink, i would like to see it, yes. If it has 3 blades, then its the S5+ i know. Regardless i believe you but yeah, if there's S5's non + with a S7 compact heatsink, i would like to see it + know what PCB version it read on the top right of the PCB under the bitmain logo. The latest i saw was v1.91.

Sure I will stop by my S5 mine tomorrow and take some pics of the different types of S5's
259  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTB 100 OR MORE ANTMINER S1 IN UK on: October 22, 2015, 09:19:24 PM
..... but why? The amount of free electric you must have would be insane and the ability to get such a higher hashrate out there.

Why me or why him?  I like to put about 50 under my bed and have a heated bed in the winter.  JK I have had mine for a long time.
260  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 22, 2015, 09:17:35 PM
The s-7 is better then the s-5 And depending on your setup there are mufflers that work.

I disagree.
To me 1 x S7 is much louder than 3 x S5's.  Even with fan speed reduction to 30%.

That doesn't really make sense. Your S7 = 2x fans and S5s = 3x fans, identical fans.

Sound is not merely relative to the fan speed and rating.
You also must factor into existence the flow of the air and the noise generated from turbulence and or vibration.
So you have environmental factors to think about.

S5 - has lower restriction of airflow.
The fin design of the heatinks allows for air to pass through with less resistance and turbulence.

S7 - has compact heatsink design and completely enclosed aluminum housing.  This creates a lot of turbulence and resistance.

Just like water.  What generates more noise, a river without rocks/rapids or one with rocks/rapids?

Keep in mind not all S5 are the same.  I have units with 4 different types of heat sinks.  So it is important to know when compare which models people have.

1. The standard curved fin
2. The new ones like on the S7
3. Some CNC'd flat ones simliar to #1 but no curves
4. I forgot but I am pretty sure I received 4 different kinds from Bitmain

New S5's with S7 heatsinks, are you talking about the S5+?

And also there were batches with mini heatsinks individually on each chip. I'm considering adding some to the hotter chips since i have the materials for it but i'm not sure if it does anything at all, would be good to know. It Works for the S7, not sure if it would work with a S5.

They look like the same to me, but I do not own any S7's so I am only going off of pictures.  I am pretty sure they are the same.  I can take pics if you want.
