There's actually a lot more depth above $90 than before (50k BTC out of 0 a few days ago).  We're fine.

245  Economy / Auctions / Re: 2 DAYS ONLY: 250 direct ASICMINER shares from 1.18 each on: May 06, 2013, 02:38:55 AM
250 directly registered shares for sale.

Minimum: 1.18 BTC each
Minimum bid increment: 0.01 BTC each

All bids are binding.  Payment must happen within 48 hours of the end of the auction, unless you make alternate arrangements.

Happy bidding!  Auction ends on May 6, 5:00 UTC

Timer removed. End time: 2013-05-06+5:00:00UTC

All bids are binding. Then they offer extra and they are magically "out" of auction?

They were binding, but got filled privately and separately.  I don't think anyone got hurt by the policy.
I regret this whole thing, because some people disagree with the policy and the ones who got out were a bit of extra trouble for me, too, but after I did it for one person I had to do it for everyone.
246  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 06, 2013, 01:32:07 AM
It just boggles my mind that someone will play around with 2mil in cash in a market like this.  I wonder how many BTC he has?

Zero. And just learned about Bitcoin, how amazing it is, and wants a long-term holding like Winklevii, Exante and Keiser?

If someone really wanted to get in at 110 with 2 mil, I think they would put a much smaller wall there and then reinforce it as it gets eaten

Unless they don't give a shit because they HAVE 2 million to play with

You don't earn $2m by screwing around like that.

251  Economy / Securities / Re: I want to invest in asicminer on: May 06, 2013, 01:05:52 AM
Hmm, so ...

1 share AM-PT costs ~ 1.2 BTC currently and generates 0.007 BTC/week. Since BTC is about $116 USD currently, if you spend $139 USD to buy 1 AM-PT share, you would earn 0.007 BTC/week.

I have a miner consisting of 3x 7970 that generates 1.8 GH/s, which at current difficulty generates 0.09 BTC/day or 0.63 BTC/week. This rig cost me about $1500 USD to put together.

So if we were to compare investments, spending $1500 on a mining rig would net me 0.63 BTC/week.

In comparison, spending the same $1500 USD on AM-PT shares (assuming 1 BTC = $116 USD, and 1.2 BTC buys you 1 AM-PT share), would net you around 11 AM-PT shares, generating 0.077 BTC/week.

Granted I did not account for pending 3% management fee from BTCT.co, nor for costs of electricity for doing your own mining, but wow ... hardly seems worth it to buy shares of AM-PT. Am I missing something?

You keep mining on that thing, its returns will go down to 0.  Meanwhile, ASICMINER will be growing and also selling off hardware, getting more and more coins.

I have a feeling that goat is right. It will visit double digits today after all, one last time. Remember to buy yours then! Smiley

Don't think so. Anyhow, your prediction skills are state of the art, man.

Thanks. Wonder I have any bitcoins left...Sad

rpietila, perhaps you should stick to arbitrage Tongue

I don't get what you mean by buying directly?  You mean you there's a buy-it-now price that is separate?  Or did they buy the PT and retract their bid?  Because I thought I got outbid and moved my funds elsewhere.  Don't worry, I'm not retracting my bid, I'll prepare additional funds.

By raising your price or the number of shares you want to buy, you can exit the auction early.

Sorry, I might not have been clear enough with that post.  The buy-it-now price is essentially the price you have already bid, if you are willing to up that by a bit and exit early, you can do that, because I consider the current prices good enough.

mrtg has exited the auction by buying directly.
dmcdad has also exited the auction by buying directly.

You may exit the auction by buying the shares outright and paying a higher price than your bid, or increasing the number of shares you buy.
