2422  Other / Off-topic / Re: Where do you currently live? on: June 10, 2013, 12:49:35 AM
I don't think there's anyone in the world who lives in Antarctica, and those that do wouldn't have internet access I don't think. Could you maybe back this up or remove it from the poll?
Oh my God, look what three people've voted. Cry

Useless poll, too much trolling. You can close the topic.
2423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forget mBTC. Use Satoshis. on: June 10, 2013, 12:41:18 AM
Looks like Nakamoto himself advocated the use of Satoshis:

Eventually at most only 21 million coins for 6.8 billion people in the world if it really gets huge.

But don't worry, there are another 6 decimal places that aren't shown, for a total of 8 decimal places internally.  It shows 1.00 but internally it's 1.00000000.  If there's massive deflation in the future, the software could show more decimal places.

If it gets tiresome working with small numbers, we could change where the display shows the decimal point.  Same amount of money, just different convention for where the ","'s and "."'s go.  e.g. moving the decimal place 3 places would mean if you had 1.00000 before, now it shows it as 1,000.00.

+1 maybe is just easier in the future move the decimal place and call 100 satoshis 1 bitcoin.
2424  Economy / Economics / Re: This week has given me pause: I'm getting out of BTC on: June 10, 2013, 12:18:36 AM
I might be on the same boat if it wasn't for all the VC money pouring in to Bitcoin startups.  VC's have a good eye for "the next big thing", so I'm going to follow their lead on this.

+1

Of course maybe you can win more money just selling now and buying at $70, $50 or $30 (if we get there) but if you believe in the long term of bitcoin is better just to stick in, unless you really know what are you doing.

Right now fiat is crashing, is matter of time we have another news like Cyprus.
Or new decentraliced p2p exchange, etc
2425  Economy / Economics / Re: Is there anyone else that finds all the micro BTC terms confusing? on: June 10, 2013, 12:13:03 AM
I agree that all the micro BTC terms are confusing for the mayority. But we don't have easy solution.

Also telling I'm going to send you 0,00004356 is really hard and confusing when you're speaking, and is hard to remember.
2426  Economy / Economics / Re: The Big Mac Index on: June 10, 2013, 12:06:45 AM
I think Big Mac Index or McDonalds Index is not real... just to make some advertising...

For example in Morocco you find nearly the same price than in Spain or France... and of course Morocco is a poor country far away from Europe.
2427  Economy / Economics / Re: Any idea of why the -20% of today ? on: June 09, 2013, 11:53:16 PM
You don't lose 'money' unless you sell. You still have all your BTC, its a good time to buy. Smiley

This is not true. You're losing money even if you don't cashout.

Bitcoin has really high volatility, if you can't deal -20% (just "normal" swing) is better you stay out.

BTCs were sold to pre-order ASIC mining equipment from kncminer

You're right. I don't understand why all ASIC mining equipment sellers don't accept only btc. This would be better for bitcoin economy, and also for them....
2428  Economy / Speculation / Re: Was there a Serious event causing current drop? on: June 09, 2013, 11:39:12 PM
Well, in my personal opinion. I believe it was the manufacturers of the ASIC were simply cashing out.
I would agree with this.  Also small ASIC holders customers are more likely to hold and participate in the BTC economy while big players like ASICMINER are most likely to cash out.  The balance has shifted to larger players until BFL and Avalon clones ship more.

The ASIC transition is rough but necessary.

+1 I think this is the key.
2429  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which countries have the friendliest bitcoin regulatory environment? on: June 09, 2013, 11:36:00 PM
Vanuatu is the Pacific's premier offshore financial center, featuring :

No personal or corporate income taxes
    No capital gains taxes
    No withholding taxes
    No estate or death duties
    No tax treaties
    No exchange controls

Vanuatu is a long-established offshore banking centre, with over 60 banks either incorporated or registered there.

That country sounds nice to live.

2431  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Inflation or a way to increase number of Bitcoins on: June 09, 2013, 11:31:59 PM

The number of BTC is being INFLATED right now.  The supply currently increases by roughly 7200 BTC per day (value at the time of writing: $734,400).

The layman sees Bitcoin as 'money from nowhere', but really every time a miner solves a block he/she is reducing the total worth of all BTC in existence.  Thus is APPEARS as though there are no transaction fees, when in reality the fees come from anyone who holds bitcoin.

Very soon it will be possible to take short positions on BTC, making it possible to easily profit from BTC depreciation.  Thus people could easily take positions on technological disruptions, etc.

This rules come from the beginning, and it's completely clear.

But if you can change it now, because people wants... that is going to happen again, and again... and we're back in the same problem fiat has.

2436  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Meanwhile on my car... on: June 09, 2013, 07:16:56 PM
I wonder if when Bitcoin is seen as a major nuisance by the US authorities could they revoke those plates stating that they are "offensive"?  Huh Undecided

North Carolina are already ahead of the curve with that, though only considering them to be in poor taste rather than offensive so far.

North Carolina - The NC DMV has rejected the application for the license plate 'BITCOIN' because it 'could be considered in poor taste'

That is probably the lamest rejection excuse I have ever heard...

"poor taste" WTF

BTW, $30 for choosing your name in your car is cheap. I hope one day we have that in Europe Tongue
2437  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crisis in Argentine on: June 09, 2013, 07:12:08 PM
Currently they're worse than cyprus, the inflation in the last 10 years is completely insane. And it doesn't look like is going to stop.
2438  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Inflation or a way to increase number of Bitcoins on: June 09, 2013, 07:09:28 PM
If you can increase number of bitcoins their final value is going to be 0....
