2481  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anderson Silva vs Tito Ortiz on September 11 on: August 25, 2021, 01:12:00 PM
Contracts have been signed for Anderson Silva to box with Tito Ortiz in the co-main event of the Oscar De La Hoya vs. Vitor Belfort card on September 11, and it is organized by Triller.
Both of them are well known MMA fighters active until recently in UFC, one of the best known MMA organizations, so it will be interesting fight to watch.
Andreson Silva is 46 years with 34-11-0 MMA record, and Tito Ortiz is also 46 years old with record 21-12-1.

I don't really know whats going on with all those entertainment boxing matches that are happening since one or two years. I think it all started with the match of mayweather vs mcgregor and it all went downhill from that moment on.The only reason why this fight happened was because both mayweather and mcgregor are extremely greedy guys that would do everything for few million dollars more. Those fights are just a PR show with zero value in terms of sports and it seems to me that we see more fun-fights like this than real championship fights at the moment and i think that is a really dangerous development for boxing.
2482  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- now at: 21/22 Playoffs on: August 25, 2021, 09:14:34 AM
It's good to see the result of the second leg match between PSV - Benfica match the prediction with a draw and in fact, Benfica played with only 10 men from the 32' minute. Here it is proven that Benfica has a strong and good defense as I predicted before, but I don't understand how a team as strong as PSV can't even score 1 goal against 10 players even playing at home. With this result, PSV still cannot break Benfica's dominance in the European and champions leagues. It's a shame indeed, considering this is the right moment but PSV still can't make the most of this moment so there is still no change to their head to heat record, Benfica still dominates.

If you are only looking at the statistics of the game than it is obvious that PSV was the dominating team with 73% ball possession and 8 shots on target in comparison to Benficas 1 shot on target, but if you also consider the fact that benfica had to play with only 10 players from minute 23 on because verissimo received a red card then those numbers of PSV are not that impressive anymore. As i already said it before this match, i think it's a pity that one of those two teams will not play in the champions league this year as both belong to this competition in my opinion, but one of them had to be eliminated and if PSV did not manage to score 1 goal even though they had 1 more player for 60 minutes than benfica clearly deserves to advance into the UCL.
2483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Only good coins survive the dip on: August 25, 2021, 09:06:05 AM
The phrase buy the dip is only a good advice when you apply it properly by buying the very good altcoins whose value is only down because of the bearish market condition. Because it is not all coins that dip that would recover their value.

For example, early this year (when the market was super bullish) almost all the projects released saw good increase in their value. but that doesn't mean it is all of them that were very good projects. After the market dip (correction), most of them never recovered their value. The crypto market is filled with a lot of scrap altcoins and the market way of sheding them off is to dip (correction). So it would be in your best interest to only buy very good coins in the market dip.

I definitely agree with what you are saying. During the times of a huge bullrun almost every projects makes some nice gains even those that were already dead with no volume for a few years. I still don't know why this happens or why someone would by coins like that but it keeps happening during bullruns. Once the bear market comes it becomes obvious which projects have a strong foundation and are here to stay even if the coin loses 90% or more of its value. So in that regard a bear market is much more helpful to determine which projects are actually solid and which projects where just created to benefit from a bull market.

The Dota teams started to prepare for TI10 now. So far it still seems like a mess because of the new patch. All the strategy got changed again and we don't know if there will be some fixes before TI or if this is it now. I started to follow some more pub games to see how the top players are doing. But most of the time i just see some meme strategies, like for examples Venge coming back as carry. It will hard to predict the winner this year.

I just took a look at the 7.30 patch notes and there really is a lot to read. The changes to the normal items and neutral items don't seem so big but if you look at the changes to the heroes and their abilities than you see that a lot of heroes have been changed or adjusted so i think that was really a major balance patch. I think that the teams will definitely need some time to test out all the changes to the heroes and to come up with new strategies and hero line ups and that we will definitely see new meta heroes now, but i also think that this should be no problem for the teams as the TI is still 6 weeks away and they have plenty of time to adjust to the new patch.
2485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Not everyone can be lucky when it comes to shitcoins on: August 24, 2021, 04:53:51 PM
All we keep hearing about is a guy who invested 100$ in meme coin and go home with 100,000$ but no one is talking about those guys who invested 10,000$ in meme coins and go home with zero $ , the truth is many losses more money than those who win investing in meme coin, it's like buying your fantasies when you know that your chances are very slim, meme coins are shitcoins but many don't want to accept just because someone make 100,000$ off the shitcoin haha

That is definitely true and you always need to keep in mind that if one guy makes 100.000 $ out of almost nothing then this also means that those 100.000 dollars that he gets from selling his coins need to come from someone else that is buying the coins from the lucky one. So if the lucky guy almost hits the ATH to sell his coins than all of the guys that buy his coins at that moment make a loss. So if one guy makes a huge profit it always basically means that at least one other person loses money. Those guys that buy from the lucky one can of course wait again until a new ATH is reached to sell their coins again but then again the coins just move to another person. The earlier you are the more profit you can make.
2486  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 24, 2021, 02:12:44 PM
Ronaldo's name have been associated with leaving Juventus this summer many times and after only the three seasons he spent in Turin. He still looking for a way out.
This news was reinforced by what the Italian press reported on match day about Ronaldo’s request to sit as a substitute in front of Juventus, because he is studying the offers that he received to leave.
According to the Italian newspaper, "Toto Sport", Juventus has already begun to think about the post-Ronaldo phase, and has set 3 options to replace him in the event of his departure this summer. The newspaper indicated that Ronaldo's potential replacements are: Mauro Icardi (Paris Saint-Germain), Anthony Martial (Manchester United), and Gabriel Jesus (Manchester City).
The newspaper added that the three names did not enter the Juventus accounts by chance, as there is interest on the part of Paris Saint-Germain to include Ronaldo, to compensate for the possible departure of Kylian Mbappe, and therefore a reciprocal deal that includes the inclusion of Icardi will benefit the two clubs.
The same applies to Manchester United, which hopes to restore its former star who left Old Trafford in 2008, which will prompt Juventus to request a contract with Martial in a swap deal.
In the same context, Manchester City is looking for a new striker, in light of the difficulty of contracting Harry Kane, and since the Brazilian Gabriel Jesus, the Citizens striker, is the first goal of Juventus coach Max Allegri, he may also be traded with Ronaldo.

It may sound rude and i really don't want to discredit Cristiano Ronaldo as he is one of the two players that definitely dominated the world of football for the last 15 years together with Messi but i just can not believe that Paris is interested in signing Ronaldo, now that they have already signed a legend that is probably past his prime but still earns a huge amount of money every year. It would make no sense at all if they would sign Ronaldo now too in my opinion and i also think it would not make their team stronger. I mean ronaldo is still a great player but he is already 36 years old, so i would rather hire a great player that is in his prime than a former world class player past his prime.
On the other hand we are talking about PSG here and they care more about big names than about having a strong and homogeneous team.
2487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in coins built on Ethereum or alt coins that are independent? on: August 24, 2021, 02:03:17 PM
Hey everyone, just wondering what your current investment strategies are in regards to alt coins?  I have been around for a while and have been here for numerous runs and pull backs...I haven't stayed too up to date on all the newest alt coins out there.  It is crazy how quickly I have felt like I have become a dinosaur when it comes to all the different coins and projects that are out there now.  I feel like Defi and a few other major developments have just blown by me.  Trying to get myself back up to speed on what projects/coins seem promising for the future.

Aside from the majors and older coins like BTC, BCH, ETH, LTC, XRP, DASH, Monero, etc...which ones are you all investing/believing in these days?

Are you guys leaning towards coins that have been built on top of Ethereum or ones that are completely separate?  Does that matter to you?

Just wondering where you all are putting your money these days...besides BTC on the dips of course...

I would say that in the beginning of the Defi Hype Ethereum was probably the one project that benefited the most from all the already established coins because the first Defi projects where pretty much all built on Ethereum. When the DeFi hype started to become really big it became obvious that Ethereum in it's current form is not the ideal platform for DeFi because it can not handle that many transactions. That is when chains like the binance smart chain or layer 2 solutions on ethereum like polygon started to shine. A lot of projects decided to launch on BSC/Polygon and many of the existing projects switched from ETH to those networks.
I would say that 95% of the new projects are tokens of these 3 chains + Solana based projects. Soon cardano will start with it's smart contract functionality and i guess that we will see are lot of ada projects launching soon.
2488  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UK 20% of the gambling venues are located at the poorest part of the country on: August 24, 2021, 12:58:09 PM
According to a new report that was published 21% of the gambling venues are located at the poorest areas while only 2% are located on the wealthiest parts of the country, this is being used as evidence the poor are being targeted, but this could just be evidence that it is cheaper to rent at those places and the gambling outlets prefer to go there to save on rent, or that maybe those that are the wealthiest prefer to gamble online instead of taking their time to go to one of those places and as such there is no reason to set up shop on their neighborhood.

So what do you think? Are the poor being targeted or there is another explanation for the data we are seeing?

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2021/aug/23/uks-most-deprived-areas-have-highest-number-of-gambling-outlets-report

That makes totally sense for me and as sad as it sounds it is also pretty logical. This kinda reminds me of the statistics of smoking too. I recently read that, at least in germany, smoking becomes more and more a habit of the lower social classes. Which maybe seems pretty odd at first because as far as i know one pack of cigarettes costs around 6€ in germany so if you smoke 1 pack a day you have to spend 180€ a month only for your smoking habit, which is a huge amount of money especially for poorer people and still a much bigger share of them are regular smokers in comparison to people of normal or high wealth. So i would say just take care of your self and make sure that you are not one of those poor people that is already in need of money but still throws away their last nickel with gambling. Only gamble if you can afford to do so.
2489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: POLYGON’S MATIC or Solana on: August 23, 2021, 12:37:21 PM
POLYGON’S MATIC or Solana

No Doubt, Both are smart contract platforms that support several  DeFi and NFT protocols.
what is your options or opinions? Huh Huh Huh Huh

As you already said, both are great platforms in my opinion and both are definitely absolutely top projects in the crypto space, but i am usually a guy that buys and holds for at least a year so my focus is on long term projects and with that in mind i would choose solana if i had too between the two options that you gave. The reason for that is simple. Polygon is "just" a layer 2 solution for ethereum and with that they had a huge success in the last few months because of the high transaction fees that we were seeing a lot of times on the ethereum network and even now with realtively low gas fees we still have to pay 15$ for a trade on uniswap which is just way to much.
As long as this continues, polygon will continue to thrive but as soon as Ethereum 2.0 hits and is working i think there is not much demand anymore for projects like polygon.
2490  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When do you know is time to walk? on: August 23, 2021, 10:35:37 AM
There is an old song called "Thee Gambler" that goes like this (snipped part), by Kenny Rogers if I am not wrong.

Knowing when to hold'em, knowing when to foldèm are usually part of your ability, training and experience when playing poker or other games that have some math to it, my question for the forum is how do you know it is the time "to walk away" and I also hope that you never get to the point that you need to know "when to run".

I know this song and i would guess that a lot of people know this song in here because this is an all time classic and even if you are not into country music you probably have heard this song at least once in your life. This song is also used in the trailer of zack snyders movie "army of the dead". I would say that it is obviously very hard to know when to fold your cards and when to hold them because you would need to know what your cards your opponents are having too. So most of the time you know if you should have folded or hold the cards only in retrospect.
Knowing when to walk away is easier in my opinion because you just need discipline to do that. Just set some limits before you start and once you have lost or won a certain amount of money, then it is time to walk away.
2491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: F*CK BITCOIN. USELESS COIN BACKED BY NOTHING. Stablecoins are the future. on: August 23, 2021, 10:28:21 AM
Bitcoin is useless. Nothing more than a tool for speculative idiots. Satshi who?  What is bitcoin backed by? Absolutely nothing. At least fiat is backed by a nations economic prowess. We are building a new stablecoin that will be 100% backed by dollars. A currency backed by the worlds largest economy. Unlike useless bitcoin. This is the future.  Reply for more info.

I am not sure if you are serious or just a troll but nevertheless i am gonna reply to your post. Bitcoin was and is such a massive success because it isn't backed by a government or by big central banks that are also controlled by the governments but because it is decentralized and everyone can participate in this financial ecosystem without any limits.
To your plan of building a new stablecoin that is backed 100% by real USD: If you really want to create a stablecoin like that you need to have huge reserves of money to really ensure that every stablecoin that you print is backed by a real dollar and i highly doubt you have access to such huge amounts of money and i also think we already have enough stable coins already.
2492  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: August 22, 2021, 05:34:44 PM
What an exciting match! Bayern Munich vs FC Koln. The first half was a goalless draw. No team could score a goal. Bayern scored two goals in the 50th and 58th minutes and went ahead 2-0. Interestingly, in the 60th and 62nd minutes, Koln's players scored two goals. In just 5 minutes we saw 3 goals.

The match is over now and bayern managed to win it with 3-2 in the end but it also could have easily ended in a draw because Köln also had some chances to score their third goal. Overall it was a very exciting match to watch because their where a lot of chances on both sides to score and we also saw 5 goals but i would guess that from a coaches perspective it was not that satisfying especially for Nagelsmann. Bayern looked just as unstable and unorganized in the defense as they did last year where they received 44 goals and they really have to work on that if they want to win their 10th bundesliga title in a row and if they also want to reach the semi-final or more in the champions league.
2493  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports Betting Or Gambling ? on: August 22, 2021, 04:27:25 PM
There are people who play gambling only while there are others who prefer betting only.
Do you think both of these type of people have different mindset and one of them is willing to take more risk than than others ?

Also do think that gambling is for the entertainment and earning money too but people do betting only to earn money and there is no element of fun involved in it.

Well i would guess that a very big percentage of the sports bettors are actually big fans of sports and they are placing bets on matches not only because they hope to make some profit out of it but also to add a little bit extra excitement on top, because there is definitely a differnce between watching a game and merely hoping that the team is winning that you are supporting or watching a game while you can lose money or if everything goes well make a nice profit. I also think it definitely help if you have always been interested in sports before you started betting because that way you will always be up to date with the current performance levels of the different teams or injuries of important players and stuff like that.

When finding a new coin, should the percentage the top holders earn influence your decision to buy in. for example if the top holders own > 50% ?

I definitely think that the coin distribution of a crypto project is a very important factor if you look at potential projects for an investment. The coins should be as widely distributed as possible with many thousands of different holders. Of course it is very unlikely that a Brand New project already has that many holders but you still have to look for the distribution of the coins there. If a few wallets are Holding the biggest part of the supply then you should definitely stay away from that project. You need to check first if those wallets are for the staking rewards or stuff line that of course.
2496  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: August 21, 2021, 03:48:38 PM

The Dortmund team is now completely dependent on Haaland. Today Freiburg is performing well and is not getting much chance to attack Haaland. He can't play well today. And so the players of Dortmund are not able to score a single goal yet. Dortmund got a goal though due to Keitel’s mistake. But it looks like I'm going to lose the bet and win the Freiburg match.

I watched the complete match and i have to say that Freiburg wasn't even lucky that they have won. Of course Dortmund also had some huge chances to score even more goals for example the chance jeong had in the first half to make it 2-0 even earlier and the goal Dortmund was even a own goal of Freiburg. Also it was obvious that Haaland is also just one Player and can not win a game by himself. Schlotterbeck showed an awesome performance today and managed to almost completely shut down haaland today because he played so aggressively.

2497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Cryptocurrency is not Legalized Despite the Many Benefits on: August 21, 2021, 02:41:24 PM
To my knowledge the first cryptocurrency was Bitcoin. Do you agree?
Since 2009 Bitcoin was launched by a person on behalf of Satoshi Nakamoto (aka) there have been very many positive things that have been obtained by people in the cryptocurrency space. Because Bitcoin has a limited stock, thus making the price of BTC expensive and then in anticipation of people being able to invest in crypto, Altcoins were born as an alternative.
Please give suggestions if my post is not correct.

Yes of course you are right, that bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency ever. This is also the reason why a lot of people think automatically about bitcoin when they hear someone talk about cryptocurrencies, even though there are thousands of crypto projects out there already that offer a lot more functionality than bitcoin. Just look at ethereum for example with its smart contracts, which are the reason why stuff like Defi is even possible. The reason why a lot of countries are not supporting or even banning cryptos is also pretty simple. They can not control them.
2498  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to Gamble as a newbie on: August 21, 2021, 12:35:02 PM
I am a day old in this forum and am understanding some ways in which one can get rewarded and one of such is gambling, but again, one needs to understand the risk involved.

What are your guides from your personal experience of gambling?

My advice would be to not immediately start gambling with real money but to start with a free trial account with virtual cash. That way you can try out the different games that are available on different platforms to find the game that you are enjoying the most. And of course you can also see how much money you would have lost or won with your gambling. Another advice would be to only gamble if you are enjoying it and not because you want to live from your gambling winnings because this works out only for a small per percentage of all gamblers.
2499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Analysts announce the start of altcoin season on: August 21, 2021, 12:25:59 PM
The surge in altcoins has led many traders to forecast the dawn of a new altcoin season. According to "The Moon" a pseudonymous Twitter analyst, altcoin seasons follow a major run-up in the price of BTC, especially when the price stalls or pulls
Reference

I don't really care what a anonymous Twitter analyst says because there are thousands of them out their and everyone just makes predictions that are serving their own Agenda. So if they are sitting on a bag of altcoins then of course they are predicting that an altcoin season is starting really soon. That being said i  am really happy with the way the market is behaving in the last few weeks. If bitcoin stays above 45k $ now for a while then i think that the altcoins will also start to make a significant move again. It all depends on the stability of the price of btc in my opinion.
2500  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do poker and sports betting skills correlate? on: August 20, 2021, 11:04:07 AM
Today seeing the results of the Sportsbet.io ⚽ Brazil v Spain prediction

I noticed that all the guys in the top 3 were at some point participating in the Bitcointalk Poker Series. Now, it's not that a lot of people were participating there, somewhere around 30 ppl max, so I started wondering is there a correlation.

What are your thoughts on this, guys?

I don't really think that there is a correlation here or at least not a significant one. I would assume that those 3 winners are just guys that join every competition or giveaway in this forum and that this is the only reason why they appear on more than one list of winners here in this forum. I think that sports betting and Poker are two completely different things that need different skill Sets. To be a good Poker player you need to be able to hide your feelings and emotions from the other players and you also need to be able to to read the body language of the others.
