So, what are we buying until then?

My hand itches too to buy something when the BTC is over 600!

Everyone please watch out, just got a scam pm from Spoondoolies-Tech.

Hi Spondoolies-Tech,

Do you have an estimate about when you have the SP10 back in stock?

~ Luc

No more SP10s. The future is SP30!
2484  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [CLOSED] Spondoolies-Tech SP30 pre-order - Specs: 0.69$/GH + 0.46W/GH on: June 12, 2014, 08:52:21 PM
Anyone got any news on how Payment to Hosting company works , what are the payment options. e.g (all up front or on a month by month basis).

Asked Spondoolies for this info two days ago, no answer.

Also does anyone know what the dimensions of the SP30 will be, got my eye on an Acoustic Server Cab (9u) , but need to know the SP30 Depth.

Ta

C_C

SP30 dimensions:
554 X 431 X 88.4 [mm]

SP10 dimensions:
473 X 431 X 55.1 [mm]

As for payment I am waiting on that info too, but I am sure that they won't ask for payment all up front. More likely it will be month by month basis, but I think we will need to pay up front for the first month. While I don't expect the DC to have bitcoin payments ready I hope they will try to implement it in the future.

Thursday, June 12, 2014 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Massive Data Center in Montreal, Canada Nows Opens for Colocation Hosting of Bitcoin/Cryptocurrency Mining Machines

Hello and welcome!

As I was reading your announcement I got extremely excited and it's exactly what bitcoin miners needed. Some experts that are familiar with bitcoin mining and that understand the needs of bitcoin miners. That was until I saw your pricing. After seeing the prices it's obvious that while you may understand how mining works you are not a miner yourself.

I invite you to take a look at our collaborative Colocation thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=622998.0 and you will see some competitive prices over there. As difficulty rises all miners are moving towards cheapest power with cheap/passive cooling. Right now my SP10 is happily hashing at Advania DC and I only have to pay $160. I'm having 19-20 degrees intake air. There is no reason to pay double the price to host it with you. And yes prices may go down for a bigger amount of energy used.

I wish you good luck in finding mining customers.
2486  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: June 12, 2014, 07:38:15 PM
Isn't it all a moot point seeing as you cannot buy now, nor in the future SP10's?

Not really. The future requires miners with better power efficiency. It seems that since last year there was always a shortage of "good" miners. Only overpriced or less efficient miners were always available to buy from stock. The SP10 was shipping from stock for ~2 weeks. Good miners are always hard to get your hands on. That's why people were paying 30K$ for a B1 Avalon or 20k$ for a Jupiter in hand. Better hurry to buy some September SP30 units until they go out of stock too.
2487  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: June 12, 2014, 02:49:39 AM
Then go ahead, put it in a DC. Can't run that at home unless you have a way of not hearing it.

2488  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 11, 2014, 11:44:56 PM
what is happening at bitstamp is very fishy.

Didn't you think the KYC was fishy enough? These are the signs of an exchange in trouble. It has happened before, and will likely happen again. You have all been through it before, but can you act on it? Time will tell. My coins have left stamp for now.

Every bank in the world has KYC and they aren't in trouble. I would say that NOT having KYC would mean that they are in trouble because this way they can attract more customers than with KYC. Your logic is beyond me...

Update from my own trails of Hosting providers:

1. Have purchased another SP10 and it's on it's way to michigan-colocation.com (aka Waveform Technology) Will report back once it gets there. sent via DHL.

2. I have lost a SP10 in transit :~( The last update from tracking information was  May 30, 2014 , 3:27 am Processed Through Sort Facility ISC CHICAGO IL (USPS). Hasn't moved since 30 May. 12 days now.. Have lodge a Missing Parcel with Australia Post. Waiting for reply. Will use proper courier next time.

3. While Bobsag3 from MinerSource.net has powered up my SP10 fast, and is hashing well, I have yet to get remote control of my unit. Awaiting reply from Bobsag3. It's been 9 days now. Deciding whether to continue hosting with MinerSource.net.

Cheers,
QG

Have you called the courier to ask them about the package? They should reimburse you the SP10 value if they really lost it, right?

Advania DC offered me remote control very fast to my miner by using a public IP for it, but I'm hoping that in the future they will be able to provide VPN so that they won't have a public IP. Not sure how hard is that to setup for a regular DC, but I think that saving public IPs will benefit them too.

I can imagine there could be obstacles , he said , if they see any issues we should start hashing in their mining cloud.

WHAT???

Not sure how when even AMD and Nvidia (bigger customers) are unlikely to see 20nm chips this year!  Wink
http://www.techspot.com/news/56481-20nm-gpus-unlikely-in-2014-due-to-tsmc-issues.html
because they've already taped out(although we have not seen a pic), and an ASIC is much less complex than your everyday GPU.
I would really appreciate seeing a 20nm wafer for the first time....   c'mon KNC?

I would like to see one too, but it seems that there will be some obstacles...
2491  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: June 11, 2014, 10:42:10 PM
No miner is under 1W/GH so the range isn't so wide for better efficiency.

Did you not see the new opensource miner from friedcat?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=641957.20

0.85w/gh excluding psu loss.

Also the chips are clocked at 8gh/s so there is a good chance this is not the max efficiency.

How can you use 0.85w/gh if you don't have a psu? How much is the loss for the PSU? 20%? That means it will be 1.02w/gh. And that's only friedcat claim. I'm waiting for real live proof because we can all claim a lot of stuff.

By this logic SP10 is just 0.58w/gh if we exclude all losses!
2492  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Official Shareholder Discussion Thread [Moderated] on: June 11, 2014, 10:24:20 PM
There is proof of Ken selling products and hashing.
OK not selling very fast and a small scale farm from what we expected.
But as i said before, this is a start up in a demanding industry.
There is no proof to me that Ken is actively scamming, either not competent or is working hard behind the scenes - we don't know.
Its all up in the air.

Edit* The proof Ken paid Easic is in the press release. If you don't understand that then there is no hope for you.

Start-up was last year. This isn't a start-up anymore!

No proof of scamming? This company was supposed to design and build their own custom ASIC chip and it was supposed to have revenues from selling their own miners and from mining. What happened is all chips project got cancelled and you are mining with third party hardware which wasn't the main objective! Also how much money did ken paid himself instead of paying dividends?
2493  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: June 11, 2014, 10:23:38 PM
Here is some information about Spondoolies-Tech:

http://www.3-coin.com/2014-06-09/2753/

With shipping not until September and possibly 0.3-0.4 W/ghash, AM chips in hand today appear to beat them

The September batch is what's selling right now, but first SP30 units are supposed to go out at the end of July and also there is another batch that is already sold out for August. Good luck selling 60PH to miners from July onwards!
2494  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: June 11, 2014, 10:14:24 PM
And 13% extra efficiency is BEFORE PSU so in the end it's more than 13% extra efficiency.

SP10 is ~1w/gh at the wall.

rk-box is ~1.15w/gh at the wall.

Default for SP10 is 0.85W/GH and can go down to 0.7W/GH if needed. RK-BOX is 1.15W/GH and nobody knows if it can go down if needed or not. More likely not.
I don't see why not. since BE200 chip supports a range of frequencies.

Haven't seen any live demo of it so I will be reserved until I see proof.

Theres plenty of BE200 chip based miners out there, at a wide range of freq and efficiency.

No miner is under 1W/GH so the range isn't so wide for better efficiency.

More weight will mean higher shipping fees, but don't worry people don't care about dB, about weight, about power efficiency, about stack-ability, about having 100 cables in their miner, about anything and AM will sell their 60PH in just 2 months and we can all celebrate then a safer bitcoin network.

Good thing you won't need to order directly from the manufacturer so shipping won't be so expensive.

People don't care about 1-2 extra kg (we have flat rate shipping in 'merica), or having extra cables, or needing shelves to stack. (this is clearly for the home miner. Not for DC use.)

The average miner cares about $/gh and w/GH. And it looks like rockminer will deliver on both. (and before you claim ~13% extra efficiency justifies paying double the price, no it does not.)

But it's 7kg extra, not 1-2kg. And 13% extra efficiency is BEFORE PSU so in the end it's more than 13% extra efficiency.
2498  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: June 11, 2014, 08:29:27 PM
7KG for 450GH at 480W before PSU I'm assuming AND 65dB? My my...I'm so proud of my SP10 now!

74dB Sp-10 is about twice as loud as 65db, i never heard either, mind you.

The dB factor is the last one because the other stats are more important. In order to get 1.5Th/s you will need 3 spaghetti monsters which will bring you to 21kg, 1350GH, 1440w before PSU and 65dB x3.

If the fans are replaceable then dB should not be an issue.

And I don't think anyone really cares about the weight.

No you were being a dick.   Where in my ONE sentence does it say "complaining about being tricked?".    You think "before more people do the foolish thing I did" translates to "you ripped me off"?
Bullshit.   Your response was a dickhead move and shows your character.    An apology should have been your reply.

Yes that's exactly what I thought. My reply was exactly for this way of thinking. Since you weren't actually complaining that you were tricked then my answer shouldn't have offended you. You got the whole thing wrong, just like myself. That's why we need to call it even.
