261  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore.com (Beta) - Electronics super store with over 500K items! on: December 29, 2012, 06:13:05 AM
do you sell ubuntu laptops?  i get nothing when i search for "linux or ubuntu laptop".

Unfortunately none of the major manufacturers seem to support this kind of thing.
I think the best I can do at this point is recommend asking someone like www.system76.com to accept bitcoins,
or buy a standard laptop from bitcoinstore.com and install ubuntu on it once you receive it.
262  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore.com (Beta) - Electronics super store with over 500K items! on: December 29, 2012, 05:26:29 AM
Items I wanted but couldn't find: JLabs J3 ear buds, Eneloop 4xAAA batteries, any no-name silicone case for Sansa Fuze.

1. The Eneloop batteries should be listed on the site (but aren't)
I will look into what is causing them not to show up,  and should have the problem fixed soon.

2. Unfortunately Jlabs is not one of the brands carried by our current distributor, and they also don't have cases for the Sansa Fuze.
In the future we will add additional distributors but this is still at least a month or two out, and adds a significant amount of complexity to the import system.

The good news is that if you are in the market for the Sansa Fuze itself we are MUCH cheaper than Amazon!

SanDisk 8GB SANSA FUZE+ MP3 PLAYER:
Bitcoin store $76.99
Amazon $122.72

263  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore.com (Beta) - Electronics super store with over 500K items! on: December 29, 2012, 04:12:29 AM
I figured someone else would have mentioned this by now (sorry if someone did and I missed it), but the price category defaults are a little strange. My choices are often "$0 - $9999" and then "$10,000 - "19,999" when I am looking at something like printers or computer monitors. When I go to other electronic store websites, I often pick a price category and then browse for something I might want, but I can't do that easily here.
(bonus: add a custom price range)

This issue has been fixed.
The current price ranges are now:
$0.00 - $49.99
$50.00 - $99.99
$100.00 - $249.99
$250.00 - $499.99
$500.00 - $999.99
$1,000.00 - $2,999.99
$3,000.00 - $4,999.99
$5,000.00 - $7,999.99
$8,000.00 and above

and the customer will be able to choose custom price ranges soon.

The other issues people mentioned will be fixed soon as well.

264  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: 10 BTC Bounty for the best redesign of the donation page on Antiwar.com on: December 29, 2012, 03:51:00 AM
Any update? What's taking so long to get it up?

I just emailed them about it again.
I also reminded them that now lewrockwell.com is accepting bitcoin donations as well.
265  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore.com (Beta) - Electronics super store with over 500K items! on: December 28, 2012, 04:50:30 AM
Recent updates include:

1.  New and improved side menu.
2. Greatly improved site performance.  (much less waiting)

More updates are coming soon.
266  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [VIDEO] Calvin Ayre full video interview from Macau on: December 22, 2012, 01:50:05 AM
I usually try to use the qualifier "essentially free" when explaining bitcoins.

This doesn't bog things down with all the details, conveys the message, and is still truthful.
267  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] Bitcoinica Consultancy abandons customers. Bitcoinica to enter Liquidation on: December 21, 2012, 03:37:32 PM
Intersango did not purchase any part of Bitcoinica.

Bitcoinica did not purchase any part of Intersango.

This is a lie that has been pushed by Roger Ver who is an owner in businesses who are direct competitors with Intersango.

Let me repeat.  It's a lie.

I don't think I ever said either of those things,  and I'm not a part owner of any active bitcoin exchange that would be considered a direct competitor to you.

You do however owe me around 24,000 BTC and have been rather rude about it.
268  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: WARNING - Blockchain.info is NOT SAFE on: December 19, 2012, 07:15:52 PM
Bit pay sent out the extra payment after Rogers's employee mistakenly instructed them to do so - hence, the losses acquired would be counted as Rogers's losses in this case.

I would like to clarify that the funds did not come from Bitpay.  (I was mistaken in an earlier post)
They actually came from another Bitcoinstore.com customer.
This customer was mistakenly told to send the funds to the wrong address.

I understand the confusion and anger that was caused by my using information from Blockchain.info for Bitcoinstore purposes.
I apologize for my lack of judgment in regards to this, but I think it should be noted that I simply disclosed a users own information to himself in order to prove that he was lying to me.

I never disclosed his blockchan.info information to an unrelated third party.
269  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: WARNING - Blockchain.info is NOT SAFE on: December 19, 2012, 06:20:29 PM
CharlieContent, This issue has been settled now.
Blockchain.info user funds wer safe,  and currently are safe.
At no point was anyone's money in any danger whatsoever.

I no longer have access to any part of Blockchain.info's admin pannel.

I think you should change the thread title,  or better yet,  lock the thread and ask the mods to delete it.

Roger Ver

Certainly not.

This insistence on covering up is even more concerning than the initial abuse, for that matter.

If you want to start a separate thread about me covering something up,  feel free, but every single issue that was brought up in the initial post of this thread has been solved.  Therefore the thread title is not true, and should be changed so as not to cause undue alarm.

To be clear, I agree with Roger that the dude deserves the scammer tag.  It's not his money...

Actually Roger needs to prove that was HIS money. He needs to prove that he owns

Would be hard to do since his agent said that they don't. So someone who owns that address should file a scammer report.

This address is actually owned by another customer of Bitcoinstore.com

An employee of Bitcoinstore mistakenly asked the customer to send money to this Bitcoin address.

I don't think this thread is good for Bitcoin,  and promoting Bitcoin is my number one goal.

This thread is now locked.

@SlickTheNick

Please keep it in the other threads.

Thanks!

As the saying goes, don't wrestle with a pig, you both end up dirty and the pig just enjoys it.

I think you are right.  Sad
274  Other / Archival / Re: Bitcoinstore.com has encountered our first scammer. on: December 19, 2012, 03:39:26 PM
If this had just consisted of  "I made a mistake but now this guy is being dishonest" I would be 100% fine with it.

Here you go:

Myself,  and others at Bitcoinstore made some mistakes but now this guy is being dishonest.

275  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: WARNING - Blockchain.info is NOT SAFE on: December 19, 2012, 03:34:38 PM

You leveraged it in private.

He told me he didn't own the bitcoin address in question.
I told him in private that he did,  and gave him the proof that I knew he did.
I don't see this as inappropriate.
276  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: WARNING - Blockchain.info is NOT SAFE on: December 19, 2012, 03:20:52 PM
All you have to do is read what Roger Ver himself wrote in that thread. He said himself that he has access to a lot of information about account holders and their accounts, and we can see for ourselves in the email chain he posted that he was prepared to leverage this information to resolve a customer service dispute in a completely unrelated business.

You have this wrong.
The only information I threatened to leverage was the information from Bitcoinstore,  the business directly involved in the incident.
I never made any of the information from Blockchain public.
277  Other / Archival / Re: Bitcoinstore.com has encountered our first scammer. on: December 19, 2012, 03:15:49 PM
If I knew his passphrase,  I could have logged into his account,  and taken my money back.

You finally destroyed your moral reputation with this phrase.

This point was made to show that Blockchain.info funds are secure,  not that I want to steal anyone's money.

mccorvic summed up what happend so well!

So, if I have this right.  A scammer gives blockchain.info his bitcoins for safe keeping, scams the guy who runs it, and then complains that blockchain.info might maybe want their BTC back even though that can't happen anyway?

GTFO!

I think I'm going to go buy something off bitcoinstore.com just to counteract your stupidity.
278  Other / Archival / Re: Bitcoinstore.com has encountered our first scammer. on: December 19, 2012, 03:13:38 PM
This whole thread is such a joke.

It amazes me that it all revolves around Roger's own fuckup and $50

I think I'll be staying away from MD in the future.

I think you meant to say that this all revolves around one of my employee's fuckups, a dishonest customer,  and my non-ability to let the customer get away with it.

If I had let him get away with stealing $60,  or if he had been an honest guy in the first place,  none of this would be an issue.

279  Other / Archival / Re: Bitcoinstore.com has encountered our first scammer. on: December 19, 2012, 03:06:34 PM
There is no way for an admin or anyone else in the entire world other than someone who knows the current password to change the password.
If you kept your password a secret,  then no one else in the entire world has access to the funds in your blockchain wallet.

How can anyone trust you after this?

You don't have to trust me because the code is open source.
