261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: May 31, 2016, 04:07:50 PM
Lisk still needs a lot of development and a lot of marketing.
It will get both in the coming months (years), but it will take time.

As far as I know they still don't have access to the ICO funds.
Max and Oliver are on their first major conference where they represent Lisk.
(Probably doing other stuff too, like setting up company, taking care of escrow, and who knows what else.)

In the real world things not just happen. It takes time and work. As long as there is momentum, there are news about progress in regular intervals, I'm happy.

There were some forking earlier, but the network is fine now.
You however should never rely solely on the explorer. It's one node like any other. It can give incorrect data while the rest of network is fine.

For example the explorer is being rebuilt at the moment, that's why it's a little bit behind.

As I predicted the voting request are started to pour in.

Here it goes. Please vote, I'm at rank 109 right now.

TL;DR: Vote because it's important. Vote vega for delegate, because he is a great guy.

Why should you vote?
Because doing so helps securing the network and within it your own coins. The more people vote the harder it is for a few big whales can seize control of the active delegates. It is in your best interest to help avoid this eventuality. The more diverse the group running the delegates is the best for everyone.

You should take some time and look at the potential delegate so you can make an informed decision who do you want to secure the network for you.

If you don't want to spend time reading hundreds of delegate statements, and research possible candidates, but want to contribute, take a look at my Windows voting tool (See below) here is the lisk.io thread  for it. It's not only makes voting easier and faster, it can recommend you delegates to vote for.
I'm going to keep an up to date list of delegates that I researched, before recommending them. They all been active in the community or contributed someting to the Lisk experience. You can also find me on this list.

Why should you vote for me?
Because I'm a nice guy! But seriously, you should vote for me, and people like me to secure a truly decentralized network. I'm dedicated to this task, I've been running a delegate on the testnet since day one, been always one of the first to update when a new version come out. I also invested great amount of additional time (and money) into the Lisk community, by creating various Windows based tools to help the delegates and Lisk users.
I created a voting tool to help checking the delegates information and casting votes. You can find it here: Windows voting tool lisk.io thread
It's open source and easy to use. I urge anyone and everyone to look at the code. It's written in Autohotkey, that is a purposefully simple syntax language, you can read it easily enough even if you don't know the language (at least well enough to find any shady stuff). There is a compiled version of it on Github for trusted souls, but it's very easy to run AHK script without compiling.

It looks like this:

My other tools are more aimed for delegates to use. A delegate monitor, that shows up to date statistics for the delegate, and alert to changes.
Delegate Monitor

I'm also working on a more serious Lisk node log monitoring tool, that will help delegates avoid potential problems with their nodes and therefore helps to make the Lisk network more stable and dependable.

You can always find me in Lisk Chat if you have a question or comment.

is it necessary to login and access ICO Lisk and transfer it, or can it be left there for as long as desired?

Your coins are not really "there." It is on the blockchain. You are just accessing them when you login.  And you can access the Lisk from the online wallets or the desktop client anytime using your passphrase.

thanks  Grin

The one think you should do however is setting a second passhprase. While funds are secure, doing this you will make it even more so.
265  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: May 29, 2016, 08:26:12 PM
I also had some problems with the installation script. I ended up deleting the whole lisk folder and then install the script again, which worked.
But I DON'T encourage you to do the same. You might lose SSL certificates, your config.json etc.
You should delete the lisk folder.
You shouldn't keep your SSL cert files in the lisk folder.
You should never copy the old config.json. (It may change some from version to version.)

Those are some nice amounts.
I got lucky, normally I don't participate in bounty campigns, because I just don't care about the few dollars it can bring, but I wanted to be supportive, so added Lisk sign. Smiley

Hello guys. What files do I need to save for make a backup of my wallet on Mac OSX/Windows. Now I run a wallet on my system and I'm ready to get coins, but first I want to understand what files I need to back up. Thank you.
You don't have to save any files. It's a brainwallet. The only thing you need to access your Lisk in the future is to remember your 12 word passphrase.

What is a fair price of Crypti in your opinion compared to Lisk in percentages Huh
I said it is roughly 80% of Lisk price.
Yes, it seems like fair price for a coin that have no active developer, not even for the effort to even tempfix a bug that makes it possible for anyone to break it in 5 minutes.
269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: May 27, 2016, 05:13:25 PM
Max now has more than 6 million dollars in his posession to hire a nice team of devs and marketeers etc. right?  Smiley
I'd assume they will announce it when escrow is finished, and provide some proof of funds to refute all allegations.

hey, my client can't send decimal transactions but it's definitely possible as we can see here:
https://explorer.lisk.io/tx/8020948997207996457   (0.101 transaction).

So: how is this done? My client can't send 0.5 or similar, says invalid amount of LSK.
I didn't check, but the most likely explanation that the decimal bug is an UI issue. This would mean that you can send less then 1 lisk using API call, or some other tool than official UI that uses api calls.

Okay, I had enough.

I'm willing to pay for a greasmonkey script that removes [img] tags that has been quoted.
I also want it to cut off quoted text after a certain amount of characters.

I'm paying in lisk Smiley

Hi, where I can find out how this stuff about "to vote" works? I can't find official info out there.
Thanks in advance
Need more information about delegates voting \running it ? And how it cost for voters\runners ?
Also any specific date for distributing twitter \FB bounty ?
Thanks

It's a more complex question that you'd think.
Most every delegate made a thread with some info about their background and setup on forum.lisk.io, you can read through them. But I warn you, it's a lot. Hard to make an informed decision.

It it also up for question how much server maintanance will cost in money and effort. Based on a testnet it's a lot of effort, and the money is up in the air at the moment. It may run on some mid range VPS, but with heavy adaptation, or in case of an attack the network may need to migrate to dedicates servers. It's up in the air at the moment. Things will also change when the first blockchain apps start to show up.

I think at his point the most important think for a delegate is to be available and be quick to respond to any problems. Update as soon as there is a new version, deal with any network problems, upgrade server as soon as there is need.

The next few months will be an eye opener for many, i think.

Vega, Awesome tool! Really looking forward to taking this for a spin.

Already voted for ya 8 )

Thank you. I have some ideas for some additional features and improvements, I'll get to it, after I finished the node monitoring stuff.
I'll take feature request if anyone has any, let me know in the lisk.io forum thread.
276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: May 26, 2016, 02:00:33 PM
it needs 303 confirmations (~52 minutes). and 70 confirmations to be visable at polonix account
Quote
Why it needs so many confirmations?  It's something like "default" or?
It doesn't really, I'm pretty sure they are just playing it safe, as it is brand new code.

Now that things calmed down here some, lets talk about important stuff.

In the next weeks there are going to be an onslaughter of voting requests.

etoque, vega

Not sure if you use windows like I do, but the client was extremely easy to set up in less than 5 minutes:

1. Get Docker for Windows: https://www.docker.com/docker-toolbox
2. SSH into 192.168.99.100 with u: docker p: tcuser
3. Copy paste this command: docker pull lisk/mainnet
4. Copy paste this command: docker run -d --restart=always -p 0.0.0.0:8000:8000 lisk/mainnet
5. Success, now you have a working wallet locally in your web browser at: http://192.168.99.100:8000/

https://lisk.io/documentation?i=lisk-docs/DockerInstall

I'm also a Windows user (and let me tell you for the first time of my life, I was in the minority with this on the delegate channel), but I like to run virtual machines when I need linux (or even other Windows VMs when I have to test stuff).

It so very easy and convinient to use VMWare or VirtualBox. You can have your own Linux in 15 minutes, without having to lose your main OS.
280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: May 25, 2016, 09:46:21 PM
Then why not just a simple wallet based on a JS platform like Electron? Obviously most of the pretentious FUD idiots don't get Linux, Docker, etc. simple ways. Let's give them the simplest solution, just setup.exe / dmg / whatever-one-click-installer.
I'm sure there will be one, if possible.
But it's about time and resources, and they had neither before launch. They had a starting point, the crypti code.
That needed a lot of improvements, that would've been managable, but when they needed to switch out the underlying database, that went out the window. This needed lot's of work, testing, optimizing. And it worth it, because it resulted in a robust backend that they can build a future on.

But there are tons of stuff that they didn't have time for. Not even small stuff like doing some UI modifications.
Things will happen, especially now that they have funding, but I'm sure that you know that software development takes time.

They are already very far from Crypti, take a look at the Github commits.
