261  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Solar Powered Farm on: December 15, 2022, 11:32:57 PM
Not really as far as I'm concerned, due to the sun only shining 1/2 the day.  The amount of batteries to do something like this at any decent scale is much more expensive than people think.
SNIP

What's your take on people living in Norway where during April till August, sun sets rarely?
Won't solar mining be helpful in such areas of the world?
This is a personal question because I have some relatives residing there at study visa, so if this can be profitable for them even with USBs presently, I'd recommend this to them. And what is the timeline of recovery of the cost of solar panel that they will purchase?
262  Economy / Speculation / Re: How we know btc not going to 100$ ?? on: December 15, 2022, 11:00:24 PM
What guarantees we have btc not going very low like 100$ ??
Can btc go Even like 50$
Becouse everybody knows that Market Will crash hard soon very bearish out look now for btc
If today btc start falling what price is good to buy ?
It can fall to 1000$ or lower why not ? What's stop btc to fall down like 20$-50$ ?

The kind of drop you expect btc to show you may happen only when the trust from an average investor till institutional investor gets blown at levels par their hodling limits or if something happens in the market that stirs their faith in crypto in a negative way. Something that is speculative in value can be drawn to even a million dollars just as the vision of Satoshi goes, so it can also be $0 if the people of crypto want but why would they drop it till there is still a mystery, do you know the answer OP?

Nobody knows that and trust me, it will take ages to find out the reason to end this industry which is not possible at present.
263  Economy / Service Discussion / Can we suffer at some exchange due to some of their services' breach? on: December 15, 2022, 01:46:11 PM
After the recent FTX dilemma, we need to rethink on our decision to keep our funds at exchanges at all or not. All this has actually impacted the markets' trading volume a lot already, which shows that traders are not interesting in trading too much and they are taking out their money at non-custodial wallets. I came across a news that says:

'A third-party vendor linked to the Gemini cryptocurrency exchange has suffered a data breach. The breach happened on or before December 13. The hackers gained access to 5,701,649 lines of information associated with the Gemini exchange customers. The obtained details include the email addresses and some of the phone numbers of these customers.'

More available at source

This shows that sometimes, even not being guilty, the place where we put our trust and money may get compromised due to the services it is using or attached to, same as in this case where Gemini was not at fault but the third party vendor got hacked and there was a huge data breach of that exchange. Should we worry on every small aspect now that we know that these places are also vulnerable to get attacked not directly but indirectly through the services or various other departments they are involved with?

264  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I don't have enough for bitcoin miner fees. on: December 15, 2022, 01:07:46 PM
Now, as you have resolved your issue as we do not see any messages coming from you, I would like to help you by providing a link where you can visit, check and decide what is the most average fee value (1 SAT/vByte current)!

Please go to https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#BTC,2h,fee every time you want to send your BTC anywhere. Also try coin control features and wallets that allow you to decide fees instead of getting stuck in a wallet that asks you to pay a fixed fee.
265  Economy / Economics / Re: Binance's Alleged Crypto Audit Failed, Its Auditor Refused to Vouch For It on: December 14, 2022, 11:06:23 AM
Looks like Binance had been trying to control the markets by 'winning the hearts of all crypto users' by trying to defame FTX and even took advantage of the Luna and UST situation, but now it is becoming a pain in CZ's ass as the Spider who was weaving a net every time he got a chance, seems to be fell into his own trap. I smell something that could ruin the crypto industry in a very bad way that the trust will never be regained in it again.

Check this - https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/currencies/crypto-binance-reportedly-processed-over-10b-in-illegal-payments-2022-2022-12

US Department Of Justice's reports claim that over 10 billion USD worth transactions were processed as illegal payments and that Binance could be involved in money laundering activities.

If such allegations prove to be true and Binance shows up as guilty, everyone's trust will be broken so bad that nobody will turn to crypto again. We can only hope that CZ isn't involved in either money laundering or market manipulating activities.

SNIP
I am however withdrawing my tokens from binance.

Never keep your funds at any exchange for a long time, you don't know when you may see that exchange next to come up with a news like 'we are hacked', or misuse of funds just like in the case of FTX.
I always see and believe in those words of wisdom - Not your keys, not your coins.
266  Other / Meta / Re: Whoops out of smerit. Should there be a way to buy some from theymos? on: December 14, 2022, 06:17:08 AM
I have 1000 merits to give as I type. I am a merit source. It is tiring to give merits out and I know Dave since 2014 maybe 2013. He lives in the Next state and does a lot of business in my state. He is level headed and if he wants merits he got what I could give him.

That is great. I hope I didn't offend you because I already add the phrase 'just kidding' as it was not meant to insult or provoke you at all. TBH, they are your sMerits and so your choice to give them to whomsoever you want to. Wink

Quote
I have given more than 10000 merits as a source it is work. I run my signature as a public service almost all the time. (I did a 4 week paid  campaign this year) 1st one in over 4 years.

That is highly commendable (applaudable) 👏

Quote
I do think that a legendary person looking to buy merits in December is not a bad idea.

all year long it is a lousy idea.

available to every member it is a lousy idea.

I get your point there, but I also asked a question and maybe you could help.

Should a legendary be allowed to buy just sMerits (sendable merits) only or will it also add up doubled number to their total earned merits too?
267  Other / Meta / Re: Whoops out of smerit. Should there be a way to buy some from theymos? on: December 13, 2022, 11:25:19 PM
If I understand correctly, are you proposing to buy just sMerits (sendable merits) only or will it also add up doubled to you total earned merits too?
I'm too skeptical on this but I think merit sources already get enough sMerits to distribute between the community for their contribution, the only exception are the ones who are not doing it because of their respective reasons. Theymos may consider to take away those unused sMerits and recycle them by circulating them among active MS instead of allowing to buy sMerits.

I hit my limit of 50 a month for 1 member by giving you the 48.

As for the topic :

Maybe it is a legendary perk only?

Sorry for the interruption but is that an sMerits bribe or a way to say that my part is done, now you may continue? Roll Eyes
Just kidding  Grin
268  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino games plebs like us must play on: December 13, 2022, 11:11:04 PM
I think it depends on the table you play at, the shoe that starts or the cards that have been played already in the BJ session. I count cards, I know it's not a good strategy and can make me lose countless number of times because every time we see a loss, one or more people on different seats leave the table making it difficult for you to understand what's coming your way next. Sometimes, my target gets hit but mostly it is random till I remain in the game with either the whole table as 'full' or I play there 'alone' because that gives clear basic understanding of what you may expect next.
269  Economy / Gambling / Re: A way to attract new users or a misunderstanding? on: December 13, 2022, 11:03:09 PM
Nothing in this world comes for free.
As the saying goes, it shows that marketers will do anything to market their products and sell it to the targeted audience for some value. When we talk about gambling, I don't think that too many sites ask for KYC verification until and unless deemed necessary.
While some casinos intentionally do it to stop the winner take their huge winnings out, there are also some casinos who really comply with the regulations of the jurisdiction they're holding their businesses at.
The web 3.0 was a nice way to market their services to everyone but when btc isn't decentralised itself, don't expect these cheap scripts (many casinos copy the same script) to provide you with such an important solution.
270  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC is likely to head towards a price of $13,000 on: December 08, 2022, 12:20:55 PM
The distribution of wealth in case of Bitcoin is not yet done correctly IMHO.
According to blockchain analytics company Glassnode, the number of wallets holding at least 1 BTC or more reached 950,000. source

This surge means that we are moving towards more accumulation but there are still huge wallets holding values that can turn the tides of the market and it is one dangerous thing that needs to be taken out in markets so that the classification of btc gets into more hands and less manipulation and less panic will be there.

Till this is achieved, I think that a possibility of a dump is imminent.
271  Other / Politics & Society / Re: To save economy and value of money ww3 must start on: December 08, 2022, 12:00:51 PM
I'm truly amazed by the way people changed their thinking towards watching a WW3 between major countries.
Do you even know how hazardous and dangerous the effects of the same will be?

Innocent people will die for no reason just because some crazy ministers and presidents will throw them in the war just to save their country's ass. You think that decreasing the number of people on earth by killing them forcefully will increase more jobs, employment, income and distribution of money will be done in a better way after WW3? Never. Ever.

You are not favouring the idea of WW3, you are favouring the idea to move towards death just because you think that either WW3 take place and innocent people like you and me die so that our upcoming generation will live a much better life, but the invaders and raiders will always be hungry of everything, be it food, money or capturing area of a different country.
272  Other / Meta / Re: What happen when two person report the same post on: December 08, 2022, 10:03:20 AM
by contacting a mod that I know is active in a certain board. These are those situations where you know you have a good report, it is handled as such but is marked as bad, which is of course a mistake that can happen to anyone.
Absolutely, I've marked reports wrongly a few times. I usually contact the user that reported it, and explain to them that I've been an idiot.
SNIP

That's so kind of you that when you realise that you mistakenly marked a report as bad, you contact the reporting guy to explain them everything about the situation. But besides that, I'd also like to know that if you find something bad yourself (not a report but a post), do you also have the ability to click on 'report to moderator' and delete it right away? If yes, and you do not get that request to delete the post, will other mods give their take and mark yours as bad if they think that according to them, the post does not deserve to be deleted?

Are the sections of the forum classified between all the moderators and each moderator is assigned to specific areas of which all the reports will be sent to that specific moderator only? Or are the reports made, sent to more than one moderator at a time?
273  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Invalid private key error on: December 08, 2022, 08:47:17 AM
Those days there was an exchange called MTGox. But, I didn’t know how to trade hence did not take interest in it.

Back then, some users were also transacting here P2P but with escrow, and risks were ridiculously less then because of no value of Bitcoin at that time. There also emerged an exchange named Magic, and then in 2011, we got VirWoX that allowed its users to exchange Linden (Second Life) Dollars for Bitcoins. Your case also belongs to 2011, right?
274  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Invalid private key error on: December 07, 2022, 06:11:11 PM
Why buy private keys when you can get one with a wallet?
Is it like you bought it from some dark web source to get an 'advantage' of some Bitcoins in it as advertised by some dark web seller? Don't go for such deals if that's the case.
And if you are skeptical about your wallet being a part of a possible hack, why not move your coins to a different wallet?
275  Economy / Economics / Re: 5 things you should not do with your money to get rich on: December 06, 2022, 02:19:06 PM
In theory, these 5 things are true, but if we run these 5 theories, the results are not necessarily rich, the most important factor for rich is a big income, if we only invest $ 1000, then don't expect to be $ 1 million in a year, except if you become a very lucky person.

That is undoubtedly correct, but for that income level, you either need to be a businessman or someone doing his own work like freelance, outsourcing, making money through affiliate schemes, opening restaurant or some other business that brings you money but you are the boss there because serving anybody (except you have a very high post and huge salary package) will never land you to your 'getting rich one day' goals.
Remember, you can not get rich in one day, but may reach that status one day for sure.
276  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will not become the world currency. on: December 06, 2022, 01:21:49 PM
Who said that we were expecting Bitcoin to be a world 'currency'?
Nobody here can say that Bitcoin is a currency, it is a speculative asset with variable value every moment but has a limited supply and nobody can change that. On other side, currency that we use in our daily lives are not only controlled by government but they can print more money which makes it an inflationary asset with a fixed value (just like USDT and other stablecoins are in crypto world). We love the way Bitcoin is being criticised against fiat because people are still unaware of what Bitcoin really is.
277  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there still future for growth in bitcoin and crypto? on: December 01, 2022, 11:47:02 PM
OP, your thread sounded to me like it is saying as if crypto is dead again? It has died and revived many times before and there have been reasons for both, the price appreciation as well as dumps. Instead of getting bothered about the growth of Bitcoin and crypto, you should consider it an opportunity to buy btc cheaper now and also invest in some good projects with the potential to rise in the future. People said we will buy btc below $20k when it was $65k, and are now skeptical about its future?  Grin
278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: what do you expect from cryptocurrency? on: December 01, 2022, 11:03:30 PM
If recession takes place, people will run towards some highly secure asset class and Bitcoin and crypto is one of them. So whenever such a situation takes place, then Bitcoin and other crypto will undoubtedly outperform other asset classes and the gains will be extraordinary just like we had in the old bull runs.
279  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin December price on: December 01, 2022, 10:44:33 PM
@OP, the history is following itself and there is no doubt on that. However, if the clouds have settled finally and we see no bs news coming up, then December is really the month of crypto for years. But if we are getting near to something disastrous, then only time knows where we will land this time.
280  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Will there ever be any safe centralised exchange ? on: December 01, 2022, 08:27:11 PM
If your major intention is to only keep your funds at exchange that you're going to sell, then cex is fine because you are not risking your everything on the exchange. But if you are getting everything on a credit's game, then you will be keen to rescue such a place and settle your money somewhere else.
And it is not good to trust cex with our money after what we saw happening in crypto.
