2641  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Escrowed very important for bounty? on: December 21, 2020, 04:14:17 AM
Actually escrowed bounty should be one of the mandatory measures before any bounty campaign is allowed to come online. Many years have passed and still we haven't made any progress on this regard. Bounty hunters continue to participate in shady campaigns, only to get cheated in the end. And the promoters don't care, as they know that they can recruit bounty hunters, even with the most exploitative conditions.
2642  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is a Bris not child endangerment, baby mutilation, gay, rape and pedophilia? on: December 21, 2020, 03:59:47 AM
~

but you have one point correct. cutting the foreskin makes it harder to enjoy sex. and the whole point is not about infection protection. but in making sex not enjoyable.

~

That is the whole point. Let's not forget the fact that there is a female equivalent as well (aptly known as "female genital mutilation") being practised in most of the Asian and African nations. Abrahamic religions view sex as some sort of a sin. It is permitted only for the purpose of child bearing. This stance is entirely different from what we have in oriental religions such as Shintoism, Hinduism and Buddhism. And demonizing sex in turn will have just the opposite effect on society. Societies which are more regressive about sex have the highest incidence of sexual abuse and pedophilia. While those which are more progressive about it (such as Japan) have the least incidence of such crimes.
2643  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shall I HODL DOGE? on: December 21, 2020, 03:34:57 AM
IMO, any coin without a fixed total supply is not a true cryptocurrency. Dogecoin was originally invented as a parody coin, to mock real cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Litecoin. Even it's inventor didn't expected DOGE to last long, or to gain this much popularity. But now there are indications that cryptocurrencies without an actual usage (such as DOGE) may be going down, as the market is getting more matured. IMO, it will be better to convert DOGE to other (serious) cryptocurrencies to avoid massive losses.
2644  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will there be a massive BTC dump? on: December 21, 2020, 03:23:53 AM
I have been around for a while in the cryptocurrency sector. From what I have seen, the prices crash when we are least expecting it. And most of the time, these crashes occur when some of the governments take any anti-cryptocurrency measure. For example, the crash of 2013 December, and many others which followed it were attributed to Bitcoin trading ban from China. The same can happen once more, if a negative news comes out from China or any of the larger markets. And I have a feeling that this time either the IRS or the FinCen will be causing the crash, rather than China.
2645  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In the next decade, BTC and digital currencies will “fully” replace fiat? on: December 21, 2020, 03:13:06 AM
As history tells us that new technology replaces the old. So in my opinion Bitcoin is inevitable but it will take some time until it is fully adopted. The old monetary system must be completely destroyed before Cryptocurrency can be recognize as new form of money. A global event must trigger the end of fiat like a pandemic or financial crisis.

I agree with the first part, but not with the second. It is quite possible that the new technology may replace the old as far as the monetary system is concerned. But the replacement can only occur, if both the technologies have similarities and overlapping usage. Here, Bitcoin won't be able to replace fiat currency, because it is no longer used as a currency. It is mostly used for speculative investment purposes and using it as a payment medium is not very attractive because of the huge fees and delays in getting confirmation.
2646  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-12-17] IRS is trapping bitcoin and altcoin investors on 2020 tax form on: December 21, 2020, 03:02:08 AM
Is this even legal? How can the IRS ask foreign users of American cryptocurrency exchanges to pay taxes? If this measure is implemented, then it means that the foreign users who use exchanges such as Binance US needs to pay taxes twice - first to the IRS, and then to their own national tax authority. I guess people like me will simply stop using those cryptocurrency exchanges, which are based in the US.
2647  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why current Bitcoin price pump doesn't get enough media attention? on: December 21, 2020, 02:51:07 AM
At least when compared to the 2017 bull run, media coverage has been sparse this time. Media got a lot of flake in 2017, for overhyping cryptocurrency. The bull run lasted only a few months and those who invested at ATH levels were scaring at a loss of 80% after few months. On top of that, there were huge scams such as OneCoin and PlusToken, which further tarnished the reputation of the cryptocurrency.
2648  Economy / Economics / Re: How many bitcoin is enough? on: December 20, 2020, 05:22:23 PM
LOL... the answer is very simple. Even 21 million is not enough. It is a part of human nature, and we are never satisfied with whatever we have. Take the case of the richest people in the world, such as Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk and Bill Gates. All these people have wealth in excess of $100 billion. But still they haven't retired from their profession. Despite all the wealth, they continue to make money. When this is the case with the richest people in the world, you can imagine the situation of ordinary people like you and me.
2649  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 20, 2020, 05:08:58 PM
New Zealand showed that they could win with without Kane Williamson against Pakistan and they dominated both the T20 matches and apart from their spinner Faheem Ashraf none of the bowlers could stamp their domination against the New Zealand batsman and they will white wash the series. Pakistan needs to improve their fielding and support their bowlers if they want to be competitive.

New Zealand now has the depth in their player pool, and at least part of this should be attributed to the massive influx of players from other countries. With the Kolpak option getting phased out in England, New Zealand has emerged as the primary option for the white players from South Africa. More than a dozen of them are currently playing domestic cricket in NZ. Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips were part of the team that beat Pakistan today and the playing XI also included Ish Sodhi (who was born in India).
2650  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]Canelo Alvarez vs Callum Smith Super Middleweight Title on: December 20, 2020, 04:16:09 PM
It's much better to see Canelo knock Callum out than brutally punishing him, there was a time that Canelo can knock Callum but he paused and give Callum a time to recover so he can continue punishing Callum, Canelo wants to inflict heavy damage to Callum and he is successful, Callum had a broken nose his eyes is swollen and he has a sore arm.

I agree. If he had tried hard, then Canelo could have knocked out Callum in all probability. But during the last round, he looked settled for an UD. Callum put up a brave fight (I would say this, despite most of the posters here claiming that it was a lopsided fight) and he kept fighting despite suffering heavy damage. Even his biceps were dislocated, but he refused to back down. Callum Smith should be proud about the fact that he survived 12 rounds against one of the best boxers in the world right now.
2651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 20, 2020, 04:03:00 PM
We will see some big changes in the Indian team in the next match. I hope the new players can prove themselves well. At least they will try their best to play well. All the young players in India are talented enough. But the main thing is that their opponent is the giant Australia. Australia is already a Test specialist team. At home they become more irresistible against any Asian team. I look forward to seeing how India performs in the next Test with the new team.

Well..... this is the same Australian team, which got destroyed by India three years ago. Back then also, they had the home advantage. So it's not like a david vs goliath battle. Even now, I would say that it is a battle between two teams of equal strength. Australia may be having a slight home advantage, but that is it. I expect India to come back strongly in the second match.
2652  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you feel about altcoin long-term performance? on: December 20, 2020, 01:43:30 PM
There are several cryptocurrencies. Among them, some of the top 10 cryptocurrencies will rise with the price of Bitcoin. After all, there is a professional team to manage and own funds. There are other cryptocurrencies, some of which also have team management capabilities. This type of team can currently work normally, you can consider him. Of course some are dead. It is recommended not to consider this.

Even the top 10 altcoins are very different from each other. They include stablecoins such as USDT and USDC, Bitcoin forks such as Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin SV, established altcoins such as Ethereum and Litecoin, third generation cryptocurrencies such as Cardano and Chainlink, and finally shitcoins such as Ripple. Ever since the start of the current rally, none of these top-10 alts have grown at a pace which is higher than that of Bitcoin.
2653  Economy / Speculation / Re: We should stop using the term "All Time High" on: December 20, 2020, 01:31:30 PM
I agree with the OP. Grammatically, the term is not accurate. But I guess the same terminology is used while dealing with equities and mutual funds, and even with other assets such as bonds and bullion. Also, the alternative terminology suggested by the OP, such as High to Date (HtD) and World Record High (WRH) doesn't sound that great. So for now, let's stick with the term ATH, although phonologically the term is wrong.
2654  Economy / Economics / Re: Loans are cheap good time to use loans for Investment in btc on: December 20, 2020, 01:21:14 PM
Save money and start investing that is the basic rule for successful investor but there are lot of people who take loan amd get succeed as well because they actually know how to make money and also tackling the risk factors involved. Every investment is risky though but nit every investment holds same amount of risk so choose things wisely before taking a decision.

Taking out a loan to make investment doesn't sound like a clever idea for me. First of all, you will never get a loan which is interest-free. You will be forced to pay interest, at a rate higher than what you get from bank deposits. So even before starting your investment, you are down by a few points. On top of this, there is no guarantee that your investment will return good profits. So now the risk has doubled.
2655  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 20, 2020, 01:11:09 PM
This news came up just now:

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/india-in-australia/india-vs-australia-shubman-gill-kl-rahul-rishabh-pant-get-ready-for-boxing-day-test-wriddhiman-saha-prithvi-shaw-set-to-be-benched/articleshow/79823981.cms

Wriddhiman Saha and Prithvi Shaw are likely to be dropped for the second match, and they will be replaced in the playing XI by Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant. I am OK with Gill being included in the playing XI, but the decision to drop Saha after just one match is perplexing. Rishabh Pant is a promising young player, but he hasn't proved himself in the longer format. Also there are rumors that Mohammed Siraj will be replacing injured pacer Mohammad Shami.
2656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Major differences between Bitcoin rally 2017 and 2020 on: December 20, 2020, 01:01:08 PM
in 2017 it had futures exchanges and bitcoin cash hard fork. this year there is something much bigger: "paypal". yes for those who did not like paypal and said that paypal would be surpassed by bitcoin they must be brooding because time is proving that bitcoin depends on things like paypal, institutional investors (all centralized and bureaucratic system) to reach very high prices and have big adoption.

so we can say that this rally is due to paypal

I am not sure how much impact came from the Bitcoin Cash hard fork. There was some media coverage about it, but the hype was limited to the already existing users of cryptocurrency. IMO, most of the difference came from the decision by some of the mainstream exchanges to allow futures trading of Bitcoin. The rally of 2017 started immediately after the announcements by CME and CBOE.
2657  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins price pump influence bitcoin price Negatively ? on: December 20, 2020, 12:51:17 PM
Even now, there are a certain section of the investors who believe that 2017 would repeat (when altcoins went up much more than Bitcoin). But they are ignoring the most important fact this time. The current rally has nothing to do with altcoins. The spike has occurred solely due to the mainstream adoption of Bitcoin, and altcoins are not in the picture here. I would even predict that the Bitcoin dominance will increase from the current level of 65% to somewhere around 75%-80%.
2658  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 20, 2020, 12:41:04 PM
Pakistan team surely is a bit messed up now. Not just the board or the management, the player themselves seems to be divided or at least that what Mohammad Amir suggested during his retirement. Whenever people and their opinion becomes larger than the system and the selection procedure, you can't expect a strong team. This is not entirely a new thing in cricket but they should solve it as soon as possible.

This can happen, when the team is not performing well. When they are winning matches continuously, the players will have no issues in listening to the captain. But when they are losing matches consecutively the instinct is to put the blame on someone else and the captain and the management becomes the convenient scapegoats. It is OK for the players to make their complaints heard. But indiscipline should not be tolerated within the team.
2659  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-12-18] BTC bull run to last until the second half of 2021? on: December 20, 2020, 12:31:03 PM
These so-called experts are just ordinary people who like to have fun with speculation, and use their positions to present it to the public as something relevant. When you read that someone says that the price of Bitcoin will be exactly $51 951 by the end of next year - then you wonder if these people have any tendency to predict the future by looking at the crystal sphere or cards?

What they base their prediction on is something that anyone with a little common sense already knows well - it's not Santa Claus who caused the price of BTC to rise, nor has a crypto fairy touched the blockchain with his magic wand Roll Eyes

I agree. When Bitcoin goes up, it goes up very fast and the same is applicable when it goes down. The current rally should take Bitcoin to the vicinity of $50,000, but I don't think that we need to wait until the end of next year to witness it. If Bitcoin has the potential to reach $50K, then that level may be attained by mid-2021. But no one can really predict upto which level Bitcoin will rise during this rally. It can go up to 30K, 50K or even 100K.
2660  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New KYC rules for crypto wallets on: December 20, 2020, 12:21:57 PM
I know that a lot of people may be thinking that $10,000 per day is a very high limit and they don't need to bother about it. But FinCen will progressively reduce these rates. If you look at the history, they had a similar limit initially for international transactions involving cryptocurrency. But then this limit was progressively brought down to $500 per day. I think that they will do the same with the crypto wallets as well.
