In the end, no one remembers about such an innings. He even failed to get himself a century. According to the records, India managed to beat England by 7 runs. How they managed to do that is inconsequential. I would say that it was another close match, which England failed to finish properly.
Nonsense. Many people including me will always remember how Curran heroically played till the end for his country. This was his first ODI 50 and it would have been his first ODI 100 too though he sadly fell short.

Dismissing his effort and calling India's close win inconsequential is pure stupidity. This is a rare occasion where a bowler almost won the decider for his country which is why it will always be remembered.

Statistically, the margin of victory doesn't matter. Whether you lose by 80 runs or 8 runs, it's the same outcome. Eventually Indian bowlers held their nerve during the last three overs and managed to win the match (and thereby the series). What is the point in putting up such a tough fight, if he can't finish it? The 9th wicket partnership between Mark Wood and Sam Curran was worth 60 runs. If they had scored another 20 runs, then England could have won the match. Also, let's not forget the fact that Mark Wood was run out, after Sam Curran slipped and fell down in his attempt to return to strike.

If Ukraine found first goal in first half the match couldn't finish like that. They paid the price of a late goal, there is nothing you can do about it when you make penalty in last minute. I think draw was a fair result for this match, because Finland played good defense and they deserved one point. I'm glad the match finished 1-1 and my bet won. Thanks to both teams players. Smiley

It is not like Ukraine scored the goal initially in the match and then dominated the proceedings. Júnior Moraes scored the goal in the 80th minute and then they conceded the penalty (which was converted to goal by Teemu Pukki) in the 89th minute. So their lead lasted for a grand total of 9 minutes. France is on top with 4 points and both Finland and Ukraine now have 2 points from 2 matches. But for Ukraine, the next match is against a weak Kazakhstan.
1783  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ African Cup Of Nations Cameron 2021 Qualifiers ⚽ on: March 29, 2021, 07:47:49 AM
I haven't even heard about the Sudan football team before. I guess they don't rank among the top-100 countries as per FIFA. They have never played in the FIFA world cup. I am not forgetting the fact that they managed to win the 1970 African Cup of Nations, but after that they were on a near constant decline. That changed in 2018, when they managed 3rd place in the CHAN 2018.
1784  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: March 29, 2021, 06:58:58 AM
what do you think : are there also teams in the qualifiers that lose on purpose because they don't want to go to qatar?   Wink

This is just ridiculous. Why should anyone refuse to go to Qatar? If the COVID 19 pandemic is a reason, then it doesn't make any sense. The World Cup is still some one and half years away and the chances are that the pandemic will be under complete control by then. And World Cup is an event which occurs only once every 4 years. I don't think that anyone in a good state of mind would refuse a chance to take part in this event.

India won the match by 7 runs. As I posted earlier, if the target was 10-15 runs lower, then England had a chance. All credit to Natarajan, who bowled an exceptional 50th over. Sam Curran batted exceptionally, but in the end he ran out of partners. The series ends for England, and they have lost in all the three formats. Test series by 1-3, T20I series by 2-3, and the ODI series by 1-2. But there are definitely some positives to take away.
1786  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: March 28, 2021, 04:34:24 PM
Hardik Pandya bowling the 49th over and therefore it is going to be Natarajan for the 50th over (if 50th over is required). Kohli made the right choice here as he is going to one of his best and most economical bowler for the 49th over. But the advantage for India here is that now Mark Wood is on strike, with 18 runs needed from 10 balls. Hardik needs to take two wickets from his remaining 4 balls.

Oh.. boy... Mark Wood just dropped by Shardul Thakur, and the strike goes to Sam Curran. It was the easiest of the catches..
1787  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA EURO 2021 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Qualifiers! on: March 28, 2021, 04:26:07 PM
Watch out for the Albania vs England match. Now I am not lunatic enough to believe that there is a chance of Albania either winning or drawing the match, but the victory margin is going to be interesting. Also, the Georgia vs Spain match (0-0 after 24 minutes). Remember that Spain failed to get three points from their first match. If they again repeat their poor performance, then they will be in trouble. Because Sweden and Greece are also placed in the same group.
1788  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: March 28, 2021, 04:11:39 PM
48 runs needed from 30 balls (5 overs). I stopped watching 2 hrs back, as I had to attend to a family emergency. And when I was back I was really surprised to see the scoreboard. I was expecting that the match would have got finished by the time I got back. Sam Curran is playing an exceptional innings right now. He gave hope to England, when it looked as if India had everything under control. If target was 10-15 runs lower, then England actually had a chance.

very crazy....the UN should intervene to mediate the current conditions in Myanmar.

Quote
50+ ppl have been killed today by the Myanmar military on a killing rampage inflicting maximum terror against ppl of #Myanmar. 5 & 9 yr old children have been shot & just when things can’t get worse, 1 yr old baby is hit in the eye
https://twitter.com/rinfujimatsu/status/1375721574121136131

I guess the people of Myanmar will be able to sort out the issues on their own, without any outside interference. UN should first take care of those countries where it interfered previously. Look at the current state of Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan. First let them sort out the issues in these countries before making new interventions. And Myanmar is effectively a vassal state of China. Already relations between China and the West are strained and I don't want them to reach a breaking point.
1790  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: March 28, 2021, 01:30:31 PM
Both the openers lost their wickets now, so its really a great start from Indian bowling unit. Talking about the first innings we can't expect bowlers to bat for too long that is why a batsman should stay in the crease or atleast in one end to get the final over blow but anyway the damage has been done in the early stage itself now time for the bowlers.

I read that when it comes to decider match India won 11 times out of 12 matches.

Yeah.. advantage with India now. Three of the best England batsmen are now back in pavillion (Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes) and they still need another 250+ runs. Now England needs a miracle performance from their middle order and lower order, which is extremely unlikely given the poor form of players such as Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali. I guess now it's just a matter of time before the Indian spinners wrap up the England innings.
1791  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin scarsity, the reason it's worth hodling bitcoin on: March 28, 2021, 01:20:49 PM
A long time ago, I also thought that bitcoin would become scarce and bring great benefit to the future, so continually holding bitcoin would be similar to an insurance in the future but until now, through so many different times of the crypto market, I realize that the value of bitcoin is probably not as high as we imagine, some features such as anonymity and making transactions faster, it doesn't really make bitcoin stand out. But the community is fascinated by the news, the whale is also too hungry to make money, bitcoin continuously increases unbelievably, actual value is not high, hope you know the right time to sell

Well.. I can't agree with you 100%. Even at current levels, I believe that Bitcoin is underpriced. A lot of people tend to concentrate on its usage as a currency (for making payments) or as a speculative investment asset. But let's not forget about the other aspects. Personally I believe that Blockchain will be the next big thing in the technology sector. It is similar to what Google was two decades back. And Blockchain is a part of Bitcoin technology (rather than the other way around). Given these facts, I won't be surprised if the global adoption and acceptability increase tremendously over the next few years.
1792  Economy / Economics / Re: Flexible Work Schedule on: March 28, 2021, 01:10:06 PM
For me, working from home is the best thing that happened ever since I started working. Previously I used to spend at least 2 hours every day on commute, and even more time on getting myself ready (need to wear formal dress, as I am working in the insurance sector). Also, I will be exhausted once I reach home after all that travel and need some time to recuperate. Now for the last 12 months, I am working from home and my manager has told me that my productivity has increased. I just hope that they will continue with this setup for the rest of the year.
1793  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the most anonymous way to own bitcoin? on: March 28, 2021, 01:00:34 PM
There are two ways to secure your identity, one is through mining, the other is through LocalBitcoins. LocalBitcoins are a peer-to-peer platform, meaning that they allow buyers and sellers to trade directly. As a result, it is possible to trade anonymously. Once you have completed a trade on LocalBitcoins, you can then transfer your coins to an anonymous Bitcoin wallet. Mining, as we all know requires a lot of energy but you'll receive bitcoins directly. I personally believe that there is no true anonimity when it comes to crypto since you will be swapping or exchanging coins one way or another which requires your wallet address or sometimes your information.

Localbitcoins used to be an anonymous way to purchase Bitcoins and I got my first BTC in 2012 using LBTC. But times have changed and nowadays they have very strict KYC requirements. On top of that I have heard that every now and then they pass the information regarding their users to the tax authorities. So think twice before undergoing KYC process in LocalBitcoins. Mining is an attractive option, but you need a lot of capital for that.
1794  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time to sell my BTC? on: March 28, 2021, 12:50:13 PM
Yeah selling all your bitcoin for altcoin is really a bad decision and should be avoided. Either keep holding all your bitcoins as it is the safest investment and this is not the peak of bitcoin. Also note that if you still want to buy some altcoins then you can keep 50% of the money in bitcoin and invest the rest 50% in the good altcoins.

A few months back, there were some really good options in the altcoin market, such as Cardano (ADA) and Binance Coin (BNB). But these coins have gone up steeply during the last few months, and most of the experts now consider them as overpriced. So the best option is now to hold on to your Bitcoins and to make new investments limited to BTC. Also, looking for a good altcoin to invest in is like searching for a needle in the haystack.
1795  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: March 28, 2021, 12:41:27 PM
Spain was the favorites to top the qualifiers from UEFA region. But so far their performance have been disappointing. They are facing Georgia today and they need to win that match by a good margin. The same goes for France as well. Today they have a relatively easy match against Kazakhstan and they need a big win here. France is placed in a tough group along with Bosnia, Finland and Ukraine and they need to be careful.
1796  Economy / Economics / Re: Biden planning first tax hike(major) since 1993 on: March 28, 2021, 12:31:07 PM
Those numbers are always talking about as household income, if you thought otherwise that's on you for not understanding since that's the common way taxes are always talked about.  Biden always said households making more than $400,000.

For someone who earns $400,000 per year, the applicable state income tax in California comes to 11.3%. With the latest increase in federal income tax, California residents will be paying more than 50% of their income as tax and the net take away will be less than $200,000. And for cities such as Los Angeles and San Francisco, given the high cost of living, the tax increase will have a large negative impact on the quality of life.

After WWII, the top marginal tax rate was 90% in the US and it was still in the 70% range by the 1960s.  Nobody making $400,000 a year is hurting terribly because of taxes, and their wealth is only possible in the first place thanks to the economy built by the US-style of government.  One thing remains undeniable- as long as the US runs a deficit, nobody is paying enough in taxes.

US us running a deficit because of the incompetence of the government. So giving this excuse, you want to go back to the 1960s and impose a 70% tax on everyone? If the budget deficit is there, then the solution is to reduce government expenses and not to increase the tax rates further when they are already in the 50%-60% range (I am talking about states such as California). Anyway I am not an American and I don't really care how much they raise the taxes. If the taxes are raised to 70%, then they very much deserve it because they voted someone in to power who said before elections that he is going to raise taxes.
1797  Economy / Economics / Re: Bangladesh militants use Bitcoins for laundering money to Kashmir on: March 28, 2021, 12:21:56 PM
That is why I said to bring a companion with you and do the transaction in the public, with a lot of people surrounding you, any chance of a funny business happening will be alleviated and having a companion insures that they won't overpower you. There isn't really any blackmail when someone you did transaction with knows about your identity unless you gave them something compromising then that is the time to worry, and it is also easy to deal with because you know who is behind the blackmail.

One issue that I have noticed while dealing with the P2P platforms is that every now and then the criminals manage to hack inactive accounts with good feedback and use them to con unsuspecting sellers. I faced this issue a couple of times in Localbitcoins, but fortunately the moderators/arbitrators helped me to get my coins back. So you can't solely trust the trust/feedback score of these users. You need to check their feedback for the most recent 5 or 10 trades. And in case they don't have recent trades, then don't deal with them although they may be having good feedback.
1798  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: March 28, 2021, 12:11:07 PM
India wasted a big opportunity after the 100+ runs opening partnership, so far all 4 wicket fell against the spinners but this time no front line spinner in the Indian squad. Gone are the days when Indian batsmen were almost invincible against the spinners. Now Pant-Pandaya against the spinners, this should be fun for the audience.

India all out for 329 and England needs to score at a rate of 6.60 per over. England would be really happy with the fight back from their bowlers. For India, Pant and Hardik put up another solid middle order partnership, but there was very little support once both of them got out. Shardul and Krunal added valuable runs, but they looked to be in a hurry and got out. They should have at least batted for the full 50 overs.
1799  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: March 28, 2021, 12:01:09 PM
~
It was a clean sweep during the ODI series and for me it looks as if the outcome of the T20I series won't be any different.
It was not a big surprise as i expected this outcome and Bangladesh never performs outside the subcontinent and any team coming to New Zealand will struggle unless they have the bowlers to counter the attack and normally the grounds are really small and as a spinner it is hard to contain the runs and it will be another clean sweep and the odds are not that great either.

Bangladesh is over-dependent on one or two players and they need to change this. On top of that, every now and then Shakib al Hasan seems to be having some issue with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). And these internal disputes had a negative impact on the team stability and performance. But all that is not an excuse for their pathetic performance in New Zealand so far. Afterall, they are a test nation and the fans expect them to put up a strong fight.
1800  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: March 26, 2021, 04:41:05 AM
If anyone is watching the match between Bangladesh and New Zealand? I am annoyed to see the poor performance of the Bangladesh team. The team is not stable. The squad is changing for every series, and often the batsmen are changing their own batting positions. Yet they are not being able to play well. Moreover, the conflict between their boards and players is nothing new. The board's conflict with the world's best all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been going on for a long time. It is not possible to perform well if the problems between the team and the board are not solved properly.

No surprise there. I don't know why people tend to underestimate New Zealand. They are one of the best teams in international cricket right now and they can challenge any of the big 3 nations. They have top batsmen such as Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson, and their pace bowling department is perhaps the best in the world right now (Trent Boult, Kyle Jamieson, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Neil Wagner, Tim Southee.etc).

In this series, we need to remember that on top of all the other factors, New Zealand is having the home advantage as well. The New Zealand bowlers can be literally unplayable, in the bouncy and green pitches of Auckland and Wellington.
