1861  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid-19 effect on your country's economy!!! on: March 19, 2021, 05:30:41 AM
year after , we again seems to be having a Lockdown because the daily infection increase significantly to what is the situation last year.

Now each local government is implementing their own security measures to handle the infection and prevent from spreading more as the vaccine is already under distribution .

In countries where the vaccination has progressed the infection is mostly under control. I am talking about countries such as the United Kingdom, Israel and the United Arab Emirates. On the other hand, the number of new cases in the United States is still not under control, despite the fact that 116 million doses have been administered so far. US is the only outlier among counties with high vaccination rate. Other worst affected countries have low vaccination rates - such as Brazil, Russia and Italy.

I agree that to hold Bitcoin is a good idea and very useful. There is a good predictions about future growth of Bitcoin. As for me I like to read different predictions.

First you need to ask yourself whether you can hold the coins for up to 4 years. If you can't hold for that long, then you need to come up with a plan to do profit booking. I am saying this because during the last 9 years I have seen a lot of noobs making the mistake of doing panic selling. They are not ready for extended bearish phases, which can last for 1-2 years. So always consider this possibility while you plan for long term hold.
1863  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: March 18, 2021, 08:01:39 AM
So two more matches left and are they playing in the same ground if so i will place a bet on this match as well, the team chasing makes it look easy to score runs in this ground and in the second match India chased well and with the experiment in finding the right combination they are not playing with full strength but i expect to play the full strength in the next two matches if they plan on winning the series.

Even before the series started, many of the analysts were claiming that England is a better T20 side. They were proved right. Still India can make a comeback, if they are able to win the remaining matches. The main issue with them is their brittle top order. With Rahul in poor form, India is unable to get a good start during the initial overs, when they bat first. IMO, Kishan needs to open the batting, as he has performed well in that position.
1864  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 55% of bitcoin circulating supply have not moved since 2018 on: March 18, 2021, 07:50:03 AM
If coins haven't moved since 2018, it doesn't necessarily mean that they will never move. I got my first coins in 2012. I sold around 80% of the coins from that time, but the remaining 20% haven't moved since the time I purchased them. So these coins are also included in this figure (55%). I have two major targets - $100,000 and $250,000. Once these targets are achieved, I will be selling the vast majority of my coins.
1865  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-03-16][ET]What’s India’s beef with Bitcoin, really? on: March 17, 2021, 07:04:40 PM
Like China in 2014-15. Bitcoin is being used to let capital fly from India to everywhere! Those who recognized bitcoin's value proposition cannot stand to play the rules that the state is imposing. It is interesting to watch India getting left behind in the crypto world. Funny because, I know many great Indian bitcoiners who made serious businesses on top of the orange coin.

Well. India is exactly where China was in 2014/15. The Chinese realized their mistake sometime later, but by then a lot of damage was done already. But eventually the Chinese authorities realized their mistake and relaxed the regulations. Eventually, China became the market leader in Bitcoin mining and it generated a lot of tax revenue and employment for the government.

Their fear is loss of control of their people which means loss of their own power and money. Evil statists the lot of them.  Trust people to be free to make good and bad decisions and live with the consequences of doing so.

Fake reasons like money laundering etc are excuses to control.

From what I have seen, the supporters of the ruling party have started social media campaigns against cryptocurrency, accusing Bitcoiners of tax evasion, terrorist funding, gambling and all sort of evils. The funny thing is that there is not even a single instance of Bitcoin being used for these in India till now.
1866  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: March 17, 2021, 05:40:13 PM
Yup, team India will be trying their best to win the match while the Eng is slthe strongest will not let their winning streak out of their hand. One day left for the 4th ODI and is there any update about the team selection by officials or atleast predictions?

Nothing is confirmed as of yet, especially regarding the slots of opening batsmen. Among  Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan and Ishan Kishan, only two can be included in the playing XI. Indications are that Kohli/Shastri will stick with Rohit-Rahul for the 4th T20I. Ishan Kishan will be either dropped, or demoted to the 3rd position. If Kishan gets the opportunity to open the batting, then Suryakumar Yadav can be included in the XI.

The risk that India would hit back with a new law to make criminals out of crypto professionals and investors was always present. So practitioners tried to educate policymakers, appealing for sensible regulation starting with definitions for what is a utility token, which digital asset is to be viewed as a security, and which is to be treated as a currency.

Quote
The trouble is with bureaucrats. They say they want blockchain, but not cryptocurrencies. It’s as silly as wanting airports with duty-free shops but no flights. From the Reuters story, it doesn’t appear that the final regulation will be much different from what a draft bill had recommended in 2019.

Quote
A regulatory sandbox in Mumbai, where most of India’s financial industry resides, would give the authorities ideas for designing a smart official paperless currency. If they adopt a draconian law out of a fear of money laundering or loss of control on the capital account, transactions will simply go underground. Nobody is asking New Delhi to make Bitcoin legal tender or accept tax payments in it. Just a little tolerance of cryptocurrencies will be enough.

I posted this article here, because it is one of the best articles I have ever read related to the proposed cryptocurrency ban in India. But then, I don't expect much from the politicians and bureaucrats, especially in a third world nation such as India.
1868  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An Indian casino in New York? on: March 17, 2021, 04:46:54 PM
The so called "Shinnecock Nation" is anything but Indian. They are a bunch of people with very distant Indian ancestry, who claims to be direct descendants of the Mohegan tribe. For me this is all just ridiculous. These people don't believe in the original Indian religion or speak the Mohegan language. Nothing differentiates them from the neighboring people who live adjacent to the reservation. So why they are allowed to operate casinos, while their neighbors are not permitted to do so?
1869  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: March 17, 2021, 04:30:40 PM
1st T-20 - Eng won the toss and  won convincingly.
2nd T-20 - Ind won the toss and again one-sided game
3rd T-20- - Eng won the toss and duh...

This Eng vs Ind T-20 series setting a weird template. Strategy from the both captains is, let's win the toss and ball first, easy peasy  Grin . 3 games and we are yet to watch any real contest, let's hope this pattern ends here.

IMO, it was just a coincidence. Second ODI would have won by India even if they were batting first. Ishan Kishan and Virat Kohli were in terrific form and if India was batting first they could have made a total of close to 200. Sam Curran opened the bowling for England, and Mark Wood was absent. Also, Tom Curran conceded plenty of runs.
1870  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is ETH overpriced? on: March 17, 2021, 01:50:31 PM
ETH looks overpriced for me, given the outdated technology and issues in implementing ETH 2.0. ETH is the only altcoin having a market cap of above $50 billion. There is a huge gap between ETH (market cap of $203 billion) and the second ranked altcoin (Cardano, with a market cap of $40 billion). This gap is not justified, given the fact that Cardano is having a much more advanced technology when compared to ETH.
1871  Economy / Economics / Re: Becoming wealthy and social responsibility on: March 17, 2021, 01:36:07 PM
There are two sides to this. Rich people may argue that they are paying taxes at a higher level compared to the poor and the middle class and therefore they have less disposable income in terms of net proportion. For someone who pays 50% to 55% of his income as tax, it may not be possible to take another 10% cut for charity. But those who have a tax burden of 10% or 15% will be able to take that cut.
They can argue all they want but we all know that they have the ability to write off their taxes by setting up charity events or donations. I am not saying that the government should tax half of the of their income, a simple 1 digit increase could make all the difference. Why do people protect the rich when they clearly doesn't care about the people below them.

If you are of the opinion that the rich use various loopholes (such as charity contributions and carrying forward business losses), then the solution is not to increase the taxes to 60% or 70% (in many of the California cities, the income tax for the top-most slab is already close to 60%). The real solution is to eliminate these loopholes. Have you ever thought why the government (especially the Democrats) never take any steps in this direction (i.e removing those loopholes used by the rich to avoid paying taxes)? Because these politicians themselves make use of them, to pay a lower amount of tax. If the income tax rate is increased, it will only impact the honest taxpayer. Those who use various loopholes will be unaffected.
1872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best way to get the best gas fees for eth tokens on: March 17, 2021, 01:27:17 PM
A lot of people are replying that it will be better to wait for a few days until the gas fee gets lower. I need to remind them that the fee has remained consistently high for more than three months now. The last time we had an average fee of <$10 for ERC-20 transfers was long back in November 2020. Also, it is not very practical to wait for too long, while trading with tokens. They are very volatile, and if you wait for too long, then they may become worthless.
1873  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sold my first Bitcoin and am happy on: March 17, 2021, 01:17:59 PM
I am someone who made the mistake of selling BTC at extremely low rates (~$200 per coin in 2015). My advice to everyone here is to hold on to at least 70% or 80% of your coins for the long term (i.e at least until 2024). With all the stimulus measures and welfare splurge by the governments, it is just a matter of time before ordinary people use Bitcoin to protect their wealth. Once that happens, BTC can go to very high levels, even beyond the dreams of the majority of the users. We have seen the exchange rates increasing from $0.001 in 2009 to $61,000 in 2021. We can wait for a few more years, so that the exchange rates will touch 6-digit figure.
1874  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: March 17, 2021, 01:06:19 PM
@JSRAW considering the next match’s importance I doubt team India will give him a chance in the playing 11, but if they lose the next match then he’ll definitely be included in the last match. Furthermore team India’s captain Virat has also thrown his weight behind KL Rahul, hence I don’t think he’ll be dropped for the remaining matches.

Yeah.. Kohli is famous for his nepotism nowadays. IMO, it will be unfair if Surya Kumar Yadav is given just one opportunity and then dropped if he fails to score big. This has happened to many of the younger Indian players. They deserve at least 2-3 games. If they have only one game at hand, then the pressure will be enormous and in all probability they will fail.

And at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Afghanistan seems to be cruising towards an easy win against the hapless Zimbabweans. With 3.3 overs remaining, Zimbabwe needs another 75 runs (5 wickets remaining). Scoring at 10 runs per over is very difficult, especially when you have a bowler of the calibre of Rashid Khan in the opposite team.
1875  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin I should investmen with 5k dollars? on: March 17, 2021, 12:24:53 PM
Something I want to mention for those who haven't invested yet. Look at the time graph, if we were invested before the running time. I think after the two months, we could feel the same bad. For now, a 5K investment isn't a huge amount of money, but you could earn a huge amount of money from it. At least select 10 different altcoins, then there will be zero chances to lose money.

I don't agree with this strategy. You need to do thorough research before investing in any altcoin. I would recommend investing in not more than three different altcoins. If you go for a higher number, then in all probability you will be investing in at least some of the shitcoins. Also, following a large number of coins can be cumbersome, especially if you are not a full-time cryptocurrency traders. And you need to follow them frequently, since altcoins are much more volatile when compared to BTC.
1876  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Altcoin to invest on: March 17, 2021, 12:14:37 PM
If you want to go for the altcoin with the best technology, then Cardano (ADA) should be the prime choice. It is the best among third generation cryptocurrencies. The operations of the Cardano Foundation has been very transparent, and they have responded to bugs and security issues without much delay. Algorithm is written in Haskell language, which adds to its advantages. In short, Cardano is the future of cryptocurrency. It is fast, flexible, scalable and safe.
1877  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Stimulus has passed - law of the land. on: March 17, 2021, 12:04:45 PM
This is not stimulus. It is government handouts to people that largely do not need the money. More importantly, and not mentioned in the OP, it is pork funding democrat special interests.

Hey now, it's called "relief" and by relief I mean 10 percent goes to Americans and the other 90% goes out to bailing poorly run states out, teachers unions, who Biden seems to love, and ACA subsidies.

No one should be getting 1400 dollar checks. At most you could make the case for unemployment supplements because if you're someone that has a legitimate reason to be out of work (not just being a bum), then you should get some help. 1400 bucks doesn't even do anything and it's a number that was made up out of thin air. Trump also very stupidly suggested 2k checks which helped R's to lose the senate so really there's a lot of blame to go around.

If I was an American, then I would be unhappy about all this. Since I am not an American citizen, all I care about is the impact of this stimulus on Bitcoin exchange rates. The entire episode will be beneficial. There are two factors. First of all, 75% of the people who receive these checks don't need them. So they will be investing in assets such as equities and Bitcoin, thereby increasing the demand. And secondly, there will be inflation with US Dollar and that will push Bitcoin prices upward.
1878  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: March 17, 2021, 10:25:52 AM
I think 18 months is far more than enough to get a lot of people taking the vaccine,am speaking about developed countries.Even less developed countries are trying hard to find vaccines to fight the pandemic so I think until June 2022 there is enough time to see a normal World Cup.

18 months is enough to vaccinate a lot of people, but I am afraid that FIFA don't have that sort of time. They need to complete the qualifying tournament at least 6-7 months before the main tournament. Else, it will create a lot of confusion for the participating teams and the host nation (in terms of logistics and other issues). So effectively they have less than 12 months to complete all the qualifying tournaments and the Inter-confederation play-offs.
1879  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: March 17, 2021, 10:03:49 AM
In latest news from South Africa, Heinrich Klaasen has been awarded a contract by Cricket South Africa and he will be replacing Faf du Plessis. It makes easier for du Plessis to participate in various T20 leagues, as he no longer requires the prior approval from CSA (he had retired from test cricket last month). Also, Ross Taylor is out of the first two ODIs against Bangladesh due to injury. Indications are that Devon Conway will take his spot.
1880  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoins dropped to $9.50, would you sell everything? on: March 16, 2021, 07:32:26 PM
Some people here believe the true value of Bitcoins is under $5, and if the inflationary wall at $10 could be breached then it would plummet further. Basically would you sell everything to save what little value you have left?

LOL.. "some" people think that true value of Bitcoin is $1. Some others think that the true value is $0.01. That doesn't matter for me, because I believe that the fair valuation of Bitcoin will be in six digits very soon. And in case Bitcoin goes down to $5, then I will be purchasing a few tens of thousands of coins from my cash reserves. Because I know that within the next 10-15 years, the BTC exchange rate will increase by a lot.
