1701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: TRX and XRP are doing well on: April 06, 2021, 12:20:59 PM
I've pretty much doubled my investment on both TRX and XRP.

Are we expecting these coins to pump even further still?

Those who made their investment in both TRX and XRP during 2017-18 are still in loss ranging from 90% to 98%. A temporary spike, which may or may not last for more than a few days will have hardly any impact on the long term potential of these coins. The basics remain the same. There is hardly any real life usage for TRX and XRP, and their acceptability is actually going down. They are losing competition to technologically superior altcoins. My advice would be to cash out using this opportunity and use the funds to make investment with BTC, ADA, DOT or BNB.
1702  Economy / Economics / Re: The total value of the crypto currency market is near $2 trillion on: April 06, 2021, 12:00:16 PM
Feeling great to know that cryptocurrency market capacity reached this position. Crypto had to suffer to arrive here. Maybe in this, some altcoin is not genuine so the original market is less than conveyed.  Having all the limitations cryptocurrency gained much and will go far away.

It is not crypto that has suffered. On the other hand, the cryptocurrency users went through a lot of harassment and torture for trying to popularize cryptocurrency. In India, a Bitcoiner was arrested in Bangalore, for trying to install a Bitcoin ATM. He spent a few days in jail, and his mobile phones and laptops were seized. Many of them fell victims to hacks and scams, losing their hard earned money in the process. I have myself lost large number of coins to various scams and Ponzis (mostly in 2013).
1703  Economy / Economics / Re: After 1 year of Covid 19 Virus on: April 06, 2021, 11:44:43 AM
The daily death rate is the highest in the world. Shame on Jair Bolsonaro for making it worse for his country!

It is not surprising. Jair Bolsonaro is the Brazilian version of Donald Trump. He is a businessman (similar to Trump) and therefore opposed the lockdowns. And he was a proponent of the "herd immunity" strategy, which was obviously a big failure. Unfortunately for those who are living outside Brazil, the mismanagement of pandemic in Brazil has resulted in the emergence of lethal virus strains, that are spreading to other countries.
1704  Economy / Economics / Re: Economy after COVID-19 on: April 06, 2021, 11:34:32 AM
I doubt that places like USA could ever become any worse. They are already doing many things wrong, they are already a failing economy and one of the biggest failing economies in the world as well because when Venezuela becomes a bad economy, they weren't big huge in the world beforehand neither and when they crash it never really hurt anyone whereas when USA becomes worse and worse that is really bad for the whole world.

But you know what happens, they just go attack a nation and get their money, or they just print money and generally they just do whatever they want and still claim they are doing fine and the whole world has to accept because we are all tied to dollar and they are too big to fail so if we allow them to fail we are going to fail with them as well.

American economy is in a very bad state and things were made even worse by the pandemic. Let's not forget the fact that US was the country which was worst affected from the pandemic. It has reported the maximum number of infections (31,496,976) and the maximum number of deaths (569,282) for any country in the world. And if they start new wars in between this pandemic, then that will result in an economic meltdown (not just in the US, but around the world).
1705  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: OSCARS 2021- Nominees, Odds and Predictions! on: April 06, 2021, 11:06:54 AM
I haven't watched any of these movies but I am affected by the odds.Nomadland has an 1.4 odd while the others have really high odds compared to this.I don't think we can judge by the odds in movies like we can in sports because each one of us has different emotions during a movie. Some people may prefer the movie with the highest odd so I would not bet on any of these events.

A lot of talk about Nomadland, and people claim that it is almost assured of the prize for best movie. I checked the odds for other movies, but they are far behind. The Trial of the Chicago 7 seems to be in the second place, but there is a wide gap between the two. Moonlight and Hidden Figures are also talked about as potential nominations. A few others in picture are Minari, Promising Young Woman and Judas and the Black
Messiah

1706  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao offered $10 million to fight Terence Crawford on: April 06, 2021, 10:46:17 AM
Lol, you only checked his record? Have you not watched a Crawford fight?

If you are a hardcore boxing fan, you certainly can appreciate the talent of Crawford. He may not yet in his prime but he is close to that while Manny is fading away. You could clearly see the depreciation of Manny's endurance in the Thurman fight. In the second half of that fight, Manny gassed out and absorbed too many blows, ATH in his career and if not for that early knockdown, he could have lost that fight.

With a bigger Crawford, Manny is in for the beating, for sure many would argue with me but that is how the way i see it and i would put my money on my speculation.

Well.. there is always a possibility. Crawford is in his prime and he will pose a very tough challenge to Pacquiao. But I remember the Thurman vs Pacquiao fight, and the same was said at that time as well. A few weeks before the match, Thurman was the overwhelming favorite, with odds ranging from 1.4-1.6. But Pacquiao won the fight despite his disadvantages (with from and age). The lesson is to never underestimate Pacquiao.
1707  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 05, 2021, 04:58:07 PM
^^^ At the time of the IPL auctions, did Moeen Ali communicated to the BCCI that it will not be possible for him to wear alcohol related logos? If he made that request, then I am OK with an exception being given to him. But if this is a last minute request, then I have to say that he is going overboard. SNJ is sponsoring CSK for many years now (since 2019 if I am not wrong). I would be disappointed if they are given a raw deal here, despite spending a lot of money in sponsorship through all these years.

BTW, there are Muslim players such as Imran Tahir and KM Asif in the CSK squad, who have been wearing this jersey for long time now.
1708  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How is covid-19 on your home land? on: April 05, 2021, 04:48:06 PM
New Zealand is an isolated island nation, so they could use this as an excuse. What they didn't have to do is make up a bunch of lies about a fake virus, and a bunch of fake charts and graphs to show that it was real. Much easier for them... because they are an isolated nation.

Cool

If the virus is fake, how do you explain close to 3 million deaths? If you argue that these are just elderly people dying of flu and other old-age diseases, then I have to disagree. Because the simple fact is that most of the countries have reported a huge increase in total deaths (when we take 2020 vs 2019).

Here is a chart from the United Kingdom. How do you explain the spike for May-June 2020?

And here is a chart from Brazil, Russia.etc:

If CoVID19 is fake, what caused these excess deaths (in some cases, up to 100%)?
1709  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: April 05, 2021, 04:38:13 PM
On 7th April we will be having the third and final ODI match between South Africa and Pakistan. The series is tied 1-1 right now and the winner of this match will take the trophy. However, it will be difficult to analyze who is having the momentum right now. Fakhar Zaman and the lower order batsmen put up such a strong fight towards the end, and therefore I would assume that there is a slight edge for Pakistan.
1710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Altcoin Safe for Investment on: April 05, 2021, 12:12:55 PM
As of now, the altcoins can be broadly divided into two categories. The first category consists of established altcoins such as Ethereum, Cardano, Binance Coin, Cardano, Litecoin and Chainlink. These coins comprise up to 80% of the altcoin market cap. On the other hand, we have thousands of smaller altcoins (many of them can be classified as shitcoins) which comprise less than 20% of the market cap. Now the question is which one is more suitable for investment. The first category of coins do have good future potential, but they looks overpriced. The second category is not overpriced, but they include a lot of scam projects.
1711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: All of a sudden they want to join crypto. on: April 05, 2021, 12:06:58 PM
Hahahaha I have been getting quite alot of engagement lately... and pretty sure I'm not the only one  it's crazy seeing dm's  from doctors, lawyers, engineers, astronauts & Olympians.  Parents wanted me to be any of the above and now they're in my dm's trying to learn about crypto and how I make 6 figures from holding/staking altcoins like $BET $LINK $ ADA. Hmmmmmmmmm life.

Same here as well. When I first made my investment with cryptocurrency in 2012, I was very enthusiastic about it and talked to almost all of my friends and relatives about cryptocurrency (back then no one really thought that BTC would increase by 10,000 times in a decade, and most of the users were ideologically driven). The first bull run occurred in December 2013. But it hardly made any change in the situation. My friends were mostly indifferent. However after the 2017 bull run, the situation changed and some of them started showing interest. But the huge crash in 2018 destroyed everything. But this time it is different. Almost half of my friends are showing strong interest in cryptocurrency, and the major difference is that these people have got themselves educated about cryptocurrency. They understand that cryptocurrency can be used as a tool to protect their assets from inflation.
1712  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tesla now accepts Bitcoin on: April 05, 2021, 11:56:11 AM
Wow, that's incredible. I was very amazed that it happened so rapidly. Even then I was very delighted and believed it could transpire. But did not expect so quickly. Tesla put forward the value of bitcoin more  Grin

This is just a sign of things to come. This decade (2021-30) belongs to cryptocurrency, and already we are witnessing huge strides made by Bitcoin as far as mainstream adoption is concerned. First it was paypal wich accepted Bitcoin in its platform. Then Tesla came up with the idea of a multi-billion USD investment in Bitcoin, followed by accepting it as a mode of payment for the purchase of its EVs. Now Mastercard is bringing cryptocurrency in to it's network. It is possible to make payment with BTC on Visa. In short, the revolution has started and all you need to do is to hold on to your coins for some more time.
1713  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: About 20% of all Bitcoin (BTC) in circulation was lost – Study shows on: April 05, 2021, 11:46:22 AM
The figure of 3.6 million BTC sounds right for me. Even my initial days I was careless with some of my wallets. I believe that I would have lost at least BTC0.10 due to carelessness in backing up the wallets. Back then, it was not a big amount. Bit now the same amount of coins are worth $3,500. I lost most of these coins, when I failed to backup Instawallet addresses. I had the option of contacting Instawallet admin, but I was too lazy to do that in 2013.
^ also saddened with your loss, friend. before Bitcoin make a record ATH of up to $ 20k the first time, many Bitcoin holders did not care and were serious about storing their passwords and private keys as a result many lost their Bitcoin because it was locked in their private wallets. 0.1 BTC right now is really very valuable.

Well.. this is what Satoshi said about the lost coins:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=198.0

Lost coins only make everyone else's coins worth slightly more.  Think of it as a donation to everyone.

I wonder though, is there a point where the difficulty of generating a new coinbase is so high that it would make more sense to try to recover keys for lost coins or steal other people's coins instead?  The difficulty of that is really high so for now it makes a lot more sense to generate but I just wonder what the real figures are.. would that ever become more productive?  Maybe Satoshi can address this..
Computers have to get about 2^200 times faster before that starts to be a problem.  Someone with lots of compute power could make more money by generating than by trying to steal.

So I would assume that I made a donation to everyone else, for the greater good. See, I made my contribution to popularize the idea of cryptocurrency. So probably it's not all bad, and I need to stop regretting about it  Grin.
1714  Economy / Economics / Re: More bullish news: Paypal will alllow crypto checkout on: April 05, 2021, 11:36:49 AM
I still have one main question. When paypal will allow crypto withdraws from their system?
Be patient. They are allowing additional features in a gradual manner. They will not roll out everything overnight, because they are a listed company and therefore they need to take care of the tax and legal implications. I am sure that the government authorities are not happy about all this and PayPal needs to deal with that as well. But to their credit, PayPal is standing up to the authorities (unlike the case with FaceBook, which cancelled their plans for Libracoin).
I am not quite sure that the question is about the opposition to the authorities. Here we can rather say that PayPal has implemented support for some cryptocurrencies and the expectation of a reaction to its actions from the authorities. A completely different story with Facebook, here we are talking about the introduction of its own cryptocurrency by a huge corporation with huge capital, and here there really was some dissatisfaction on the part of the authorities multiplied by antitrust claims.

I am not saying that PayPal is openly challenging the authorities. They will never do that. But the timing was significant. Cryptocurrency is facing increasing opposition from the lawmakers. Just recently two of the most authoritarian figures from the Socialist camp (Elizabeth Warren and Janet Yellen) had their public meltdown against Bitcoin. So each and every step taken by listed companies such as PayPal sends a strong message to these politicians. If the authorities were opposed to the plans by FaceBook, how can they be comfortable with the plans from PayPal?
1715  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian vs foreign companies on: April 05, 2021, 11:26:10 AM
How would it hinder free market and competition though? I get that this discourages the Western companies but that doesn't mean that they will comply, they can just make a Russian version of the device if they need to. It's not that Western countries are trying cripple Russia, the wounds of Cold War is still lingering.

Well.... I don't know whether it is as simple as that (the foreign companies can get away by making a Russian version of the software). But the truth is that cold war is far from over and after a brief lull, it has re-emerged as a fill-blown proxy war between the West (US and it's NATO allies) on the one side and the East (Russia, China and their allies such as DPRK and Vietnam) on the other side. I won't be surprised if the situation results in military confrontation, similar to what happened in Donbass.
1716  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: April 05, 2021, 11:08:57 AM
These sort of performance from Pakistan will help them in the long run, they have some solid players like Babar Azam and Imam Ul Haq and now Fakhar Zaman showed how he can be a force in the team and the opening slot is settled and if he could come up with that performance on a consistent basis then their only worry will be to find young bowlers who can dominate batsman.

Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman have been the backbone of Pakistani top order for some time. Their main issue is with the middle order. The problem persist in this department and they lost the second match because the middle order batsmen could not give support to Fakhar Zaman. Players such as Danish Aziz and Shadab Khan needs to show some more patience. They should stay in the crease for some time and try to rotate the strike.
1717  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: April 05, 2021, 10:38:11 AM
And the reason Joachim Loew had several reasons behind the defeat to Germany and one of them was the condition of his players, and Loew said the German player was not fit to play the desired tactics.
And if we look at the game Germany is very fast and statistically far superior to North Macedonia, and I don't judge the referee I think the North Macedonia game was played with patience and discipline.

Joachim Löw took a lot of blame for the defeat against North Macedonia (which I believe was unfair). The fact is that the German players have been in very poor form for some time now. This is the same team that got thrashed by Spain 0-6 in November 2020 (which was incidentally Germany's worst defeat since 1931). The recent matches just confirm that Germany hasn't recovered as of yet.
1718  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 05, 2021, 10:28:16 AM
Information from IPL

Moen Ali has been taken by Chennai Super Kings once after he got out from Royal Challengers Bangalore. He was auctioned for seven crore rupees. Now he have requested a good thing with the CSK authority and it has agreed to it. The CSK jersey had got SNJ 1000 logo, and he didn't want this to be on his jersey. He doesn't want to promote anything related to alcohol. The CSK authority have agreed and earlier similar thing was done by Hasim Amla. Good work from Moen Ali.

Very unprofessional. A part of his salary comes from the sponsorship by SNJ 10000. As long as CSK is in a sponsorship deal with them, all the players are obliged to wear the logo. Those who have a problem with it should stay out of IPL. These guys need to treat IPL like a sports event and there is no need to mix religion here. If the BCCI allow this, then the next demand would be even more ridiculous.
1719  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: OSCARS 2021- Nominees, Odds and Predictions! on: April 05, 2021, 07:33:07 AM
Don't know much about the others, but it now looks confirmed that Chadwick Boseman will be selected as the best actor. I don't have any issues with  posthumous nominations for Oscar, but I believe that the rules should be same for everyone. Heath Ledger never got the nomination, despite the fact that he deserved it in 2009. He was instead given the "best supporting actor" award.
1720  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How is covid-19 on your home land? on: April 05, 2021, 07:00:49 AM
Not everywhere, there were countries that are able to beat it. First was New Zealand, Taiwan and now there are some countries that have got their lifestyle back. Like Gibraltar and Israel. Because of mass vaccination, they've managed to win the pandemic.
Article - 'We're at the end': Kiwi expat in Israel on life getting back to normal after mass vaccination

New Zealand is an isolated island nation and that is how they managed to avoid major damage from COVID 19 (same can be said about other pacific islands and countries such as Sri Lanka and Taiwan).

Israel and UK are the countries that managed to defeat COVID 19 through vaccination (they opted for the highly effective Pfizer and Moderna vaccines).

And at the same time, there are a few countries that opted for the less-effective Chinese vaccine and are witnessing hardly any positive impact from the vaccination program (Chile, Serbia, Hungary.etc).
