You can never say never with software and networks. Especially if you are talking about a new application of technology. That said, the technology is becoming more refined with each iteration and the dev team have learned how to mitigate certain risks through the previous release issues. You won't find a better dev team in crypto land. And I'd bet a few DRK that we've got the most robust testing. |

Well how risky are you feeling? There is another large dump ahead before or immediately after .01, but the question is how much support will exist at that point, and will it drive the price down to these levels??? In general I feel blessed to be with DRK for so long..... just bummed I could only get extra BTC now instead of a 3 weeks ago  I'm in the same boat as you at the moment. I've got BTC on the hip but hesitating what to do. I'm close to another masternode so I might suck up the last few DRK I need at these prices then I'm just going to sit and wait. I expect a drop in price between Monday and Friday next week even if RC5 rolls out perfectly. Whichever way you look at it, these prices are still good value compared to what the future holds. I just want to make my BTC go as far as possible |

Implies that he is thinking first-and-foremost about the fact that this will be huge for Bitcoin. Not that it matters--it'll be huge for the entire crypto community.
There is also the very likely possibility that the BTC people will just piss on it like they do everything else... Agreed: That is a very real possibility. Best case for Bitcoin if it turns out to be possible for them is that it gets implemented in 6-12 months. I really can't see them moving faster than that. I know how huge near instant transactions is but I'm still most excited about opensource. |

I know it's overall a good thing if instant transactions can be copy pasted by Bitcoin, but I wish it could be only for Bitcoin and Darkcoin, not all the shitcoins that can just add it.
It's a tremendous value that, if successful, Evan will create without having the whole benefits of it.
Who's to say that it doesn't involve masternodes? Having a network of masternodes is not centralizing. It is something that BTC could implement if they wanted to. It would be a big deal though. I wouldn't count anything out right now. Lets wait until tomorrow. |

If successful, such an idea could revolutionize cryptocurrency, by shortening the delay in confirmation of transactions from as long as an hour (with Bitcoin) to as little as twenty seconds.

Guys, you need to carefully reread Evan's chat log where he first mentioned the instant transaction system. I'm almost certain it doesn't involve masternodes, for several reasons:
1) He says that it won't require Bitcoin to hard fork. How could you implement MNs into the protocol, plus instant transactions, without a hard fork?
2) He clearly says that he has found a way to make Bitcoin transactions instant...he then mentions that it is fully compatible with DarkSend and so will work with Darkcoin. But it's clear from his wording that the system is designed and intended for Bitcoin, first and foremost.
This makes me sad. I agree, to an extent. But consider this: the world knows what Bitcoin is. Consider a news article on every major techy website in the world, even CNN Money, Forbes, etc. "Darkcoin Developer Solves Bitcoin's Biggest Problem; Revolutionizes the Currency" or whatever. Imagine how much attention Darkcoin would get from solving Bitcoin's problems. It could conceivably be the first step to supplanting BTC, even. That is partly true but US is sort of a trendsetter for Europe and others puppet countries. If US signs the Bitcoin regulation into law the rest of the world may follow suit.

If instant transactions work, after open sourcing, I bet that within 90 days of open sourcing, overstock.com will allow DRK as a method of payment.
Thats a big bet - although if instant transactions work - the entire crypto community will be turned on its head. Would bitcoin adopt DRK technology just to keep afloat which in turn shows its inferior. Bitcoin struggles with large concurrent transaction volume let alone waiting hours for confirmations. I cant stand watching my transactions to exchanges when the blocks are sometimes SO far apart. Maybe our masternodes might be of service to BTC. Just daydreaming about Evan dropping an H-Bomb tomorrow in his announcements. |

Wow. I've been away watching Scottish referendum. What happened to DRK ?  The bookies are giving 4-1 on a Yes. I'll be disgusted with the Scots if they vote against independence. It's a paid PR from the XC team, what else would you expect. Pookie is a trader. He liked DRK when it was cheaper and probably traded out and is riding XC (or at least reduced). Again, he traded in and out of that as well.
Bitcoin Magazine wasn't a paid PR... there PR Web article on Yahoo Finance was... With content essentially from the PR. It's misleading as it relates to centralization. Well master-nodes are semi centralized ( and dont use that every person can have a Masternode crap because the price and set up isnt for EVERYONE) as opposed to every wallet being a node meaning DE-centralization because even if people cant afford to run a node or have the no-how to set up a masternode the wallets in XC do it for ya BTW i hold 2k Dark... I also have XST XC and SDC Im fully hedging ANNON I look forward to seeing it working. Sounds brilliant. |

Just go and look on Mintpal. Their volume is rock bottom, their price has been unaffected by this sneak preview of the conjoin killer they are going to publicly announce in a few weeks. Doesn't look too promising to me.
