Quick visual reminder of Spread's pool-free solo mining - this is a thing of beauty:

For contrast, here is Darkcoin:

I don't understand how you can claim Spreadcoin to be pool free!  We know there are some pools running.  And if it turns out to be beneficial, you can bet your ass there will be more to come in the future!

This has been addressed many times. You can't stop a bunch of friends who trust each other from collaborating, but by requiring that each pool member has to trust every other pool member, you can ensure that pools remain small efforts between well trusted friends. It just doesn't scale to anywhere near the level of centralised horror that plagues most PoW coins.

Spread's block structure is working exactly as intended.  Smiley

LOL

Finally, a shill admits that pools exist.

thelonecrouton is not a shill.  Ignored.

I thought we discussed this pool thing already. Go try to make a public pool and you'll find out why It can't be done.  Or make a private one and invite me into it. And I'll show you why thats still a risk. lol

I have no trouble understanding why it is currently not feasible to run a public pool.

Spreadcoin has pools though.

You just said that private pools are in operation.

Look, I don't want to get caught up in this because I generally just observe this thread and SPR github but Spreadcoin supporters saying that the coin is pool-less but in the next sentence explaining that there are private pools just makes you all sound a bit silly.  Either a coin has pools or it doesn't.

Spreadcoin has pools.

But its still a pool.  Stop claiming Spreadcoin to be pool free!  I like to think you have known me long enough to know that I tend not to troll or FUD but it is full on bullshit to claim that a coin that has pools (albeit currently small private ones) is pool free!

So, anybody else watching the distribution of mining hashrate and wondering when it will be a problem....40% held by one pool is definitely not great.

36% actually, but it seems to hover around the mid 30's now that Suchpool is gone and Wafflepool is down. I don't think it will be unreasonable to assume that if any of the pools get close to 50, miners would leave.

...and save your breath Crouton. We get it.

Spreadcoin's largest miner is 6% (Its a private pool).

Considering their network hashrate is 4GH/s and that I have personally rented 4GH/s farms, I don't think that having dominant pools or trying to prevent them is the long term solution.

I'm not bothered personally.  Not in the slightest.

Anyone know if you can run a masternode on this?
http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-31088908

I'm going to try and get my hands on one to try to get bitcoind to compile and run in a stable state but will give darkcoind a go first and report back.

Good to see the Darkcoin price going up again.
Can anyone tell me whats the best DRK wallet out now and why? I'm looking for one with the best security features and easy to use?

I think there is only the one wallet which is on the dark website unless I am missing something..

Good to see the new faces about..
I've always been watching DRK because it has some really great features that other coins don't have.
There was something about pre mined coins that has always been a concern to me but still a solid looking coin.

The wallet i use is one i downloaded onto my android phone, darkcoin beta, my concern with this wallet was when i sent coins to an exchange last night all i had to do was enter the amount, address and hit send, no password needed.
Went though the setup again and couldn't find anything i missed, alot different to my BTC wallets were i have to enter passwords, 2fa and anything else it asks for, am i missing something?

Thats not an official wallet.  Only the wallets downloadable from darkcoin.io are fully trusted.

Probably best to contact the developer of the wallet for advice.

I set up three new masternodes this weekend.  Glad I decided to buy before today's action!

It'd be great to see the mothership receive a little love too...

Is enforcement already 100% active? Because I still haven't seen payments for the past 6 days on any of my Masternodes.

My nodes are being paid like clockwork.  Enforcement is indeed on.

If I sold all my Bitcoin and Darkcoin I might be able to afford one of those. Not a bad store of value over 2000 years !

That's amazing.  I've got one of these from the 1420s but nowhere near as cool (or hefty) as that megadrachma!

That's King Henry VI of England although the coin was minted in Calais in Northern France because it was part of England at the time.

It is a one groat coin (4 pence).  It has done well over the last 600 years (mostly spent buried on my friend's farm).

Oh so that's why they were mad.

It all makes sense now...

LOL, some of us were a little tired after a day of PR and testing work so it touched a nerve.  All water under the bridge now  Smiley
