2702  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculators : Bitcoins is up now 21k buy buy buy ! but... on: June 28, 2022, 03:46:07 PM
The only guys that won are speculators/traders that pumped and dumped and miners, the rest got wiped out ...
Don't make it look like it's an abomination for people to lose out in business. Some will gain, some will lose. Remember that at every point in time during a market transaction engineered by the law of demand and supply, there's always someone at the other end of the line buying whenever someone is selling. Otherwise, there won't be a transaction. It's the same thing that applies to Bitcoin transactions. By the way, who are those who got wiped out? Aren't they still speculators/traders/investors? But of course, they're.

It starting to feel that "Bitcoin game" is a scam ...a big ponzi ...
I don't believe someone can still convincingly tell themselves that Bitcoin is a Ponzi at this stage of this industry. Nonetheless, one of the important things you should know about Bitcoin is that it's not a get rich quick thing. I'm not saying quick riches can't come from it as one invests but one shouldn't bear that in mind while investing in it. If it happens, so be it.

What do you think about altcoin market.
Don't erroneously continue to wait in vain for the market to bottom out. The present crash is providing a leeway to those who missed out on their favourite cryptos to get in and I guess a few investors are happily cashing in on that. I checked the ATL of Polkadot and it was around $2+ in August 2020. It also did an ATH of $54+. Today, that price stands at a discount at $7+ today. Knowing the utility Polkadot has, I believe it will rally up again once the bear allows the bull a breathing space. You can DCA on it if you're doubtful it will dip more than miss out completely.
2704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HODL on: June 28, 2022, 02:11:43 PM
My portfolio is a wide net. 50% BTC & ETH. It's fascinating watching altcoin behavior in this downward spiral. Some unexpected surprises... Braintrust 😉. I haven't invested more than I'm willing to lose. Though down about 55% I'm in for the long term. HODL !!!
You made a great choice with those two. It's good a thing you said you didn't invest more than you can afford to lose. Now matter what happens those two are getting up back. That I can surely say from experience. Just zero your mind off it and act like you didn't have them for a while. You will be thankful for that choice you made in the near future.
2705  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When to take profit? on: June 28, 2022, 09:57:23 AM
I have read a lot lately of many people saying they did not take enough profit when the highs came in November last year and I don’t want to be one of them people and having regrets when the next bull run comes.
That has always been the problem with investors taking profit. There's often regrets on the hindsight, either of taking it too early or taking it too late, of either not taking enough when price begins to dip or taking too much when price begins to rally up again. Greed and regret should be properly put in check when it comes to cryptos.

Quote
I have been accumulating a lot over the last 4 weeks to bring my average price down on all the cryptos I own so that when the bull run does come it will not take a lot for me to double my investments and bank some profit.
Yes, DCA is the way to go. However, make sure you're doing it on cryptos that are viable and with utility. Otherwise, you will be catching a falling knife.

Amazing! Thanks for your recommendations. I will improve in my next post.
Another suggestion – You may want to deemphasize bounty reports and links. They make your post history untidy, kind of. As some users have suggested in other threads, If you must get involved in bounties; seek ones that use Google report sheets. That way you keep your bounty reports off your profile, except for POA (authentication post) which is just a one time thing to show your interest in the bounty as demanded by BMs for record purposes. Mind you, bounties are shitty this day. Most of them aren't worth the stress. You only end up wasting your time with them. Why not concentrate on creating constructive posts and then rank up. Signature campaigns are well better off.
2707  Economy / Speculation / Re: How do we spot the crypto bottom? on: June 27, 2022, 11:40:22 PM
Personally, because of the state of the financial system, I cannot see how crypto can become bullish as long as the world economy doesn't show signs of a recovery . I could be wrong though ?
In the midst of the coronavirus epidemic in 2020 when world financial sectors were in shambles, crippled by the lockdown, Bitcoin showed strength. So, to that effect, your assertion isn't right. We often see the stocks market crash but Bitcoin remains resolute.

About knowing when the market has bottomed out, that will be a hard thing to accurately get. This is a speculative market. Even with compasses in the form of indicators, we still can't get it absolutely right. However, I try to look at weekly and monthly close of candlesticks to gauge where the market direction could be on the long term. If a dip has lingered for a while, I begin to expect that a reversal is imminent and I start looking for a possible candle formation to support my suspicion. Otherwise, it's better to do a DCA on a crypto you know will do well and not totally wait for a bottom. There is nothing like a bottom while the market is still in progress. We only get to know that after it has passed that phase.
2708  Other / Meta / Re: How do I get rid of Negative trust? on: June 27, 2022, 09:53:46 PM
Maybe that'll change, but somehow I doubt it.  It's been that way for years and it doesn't seem as though Theymos intends on changing things.
I think that has to change to show how progressive this forum is. Retaining a rule made a decade or so ago while it's obvious that current circumstances may have arm twisted such a rule is analogous to retaining a pathway in the rural areas used by passersby even when vehicular movements have become noticeable. The point I'm labouring to make here is that there should be a realignment to suit present reality on ground. Supposed the situation that led to the red tag has changed or resolved but the person who left it has exited the forum. What then happens? It brings up the issue Bestchange had while starting out its campaign here and the tag TMAN left on the user which I think has been resolved. Yet, TMAN hasn't been online for over two years now and Bestchange still bears that tag till date. In a situation like that, I think there should be something theymos, the admin or the forum should be able to do inorder to overwrite the red tag. The forum should adjust for better on that. After all, they say change is the only constant thing in life.
2709  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Next ALT season year ? on: June 27, 2022, 07:39:48 PM
Guys,
What do you think on next bull season? When will it be?
Please share your thoughts on this 🙂
Your title thread and the content you made are at conflict. Conflict in the sense that alts' season isn't the same as the general market bull season. Remember that Bitcoin and alts don't bull simultaneously. So, by your content I assume you're asking about next Bitcoin bull season while the title is asking about altcoins. Now the truth is that we're yet to experience alts season this year after Bitcoin bull in 2021. For me, the expectation was that alts would pick off from where Bitcoin stopped like what has been happening in the past but that hasn't been the case this time. As for next Bitcoin bull, I'm predicting it will commence in the last quarters of the year going into the next Bitcoin halving. That's 2023.
2710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk sued for 258 billion USD over alleged Dogecoin pyramid scheme. on: June 27, 2022, 05:09:52 PM
This is always the problem with trees bearing tasty fruits; they get thrown stones at to get fruits down. People want to grab something out of rich people, a bite kind of. Elon Musk is the richest man on planet earth. I expect controversies around him, whether justifiable or not. Let's critique this case at hand. How is Elon going to be held responsible for anyone's loss in Dogecoin? I haven't read where he told people he was a financial expert and that they should bring their cash to him for investment. Anyone who followed and read his tweets or posts to be a go ahead to invest in Dogecoin or any other crypto did so because they wanted to milk the situation and make money. So, if they had tripled their investment through him; would they've given him cuts or commission? Come to think of it, how is Dogecoin a Ponzi?

2712  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to wear BB Code(Signature Code) ? on: June 27, 2022, 01:44:39 PM
There's an existing thread with the same topic as this one but the difference is that the old one doesn't have any images to make it more easier to follow since there's an image showing where you can find what you need to navigate on the forum.
The pictorial direction makes it easier to follow like you rightly opined. I had to merit OP for their effort. Nobody will miss their way with the screenshots OP shared. Stuff like that may look easy to those who already knew how to upload it but I tell you that such may have stumbled a great number of people before they learnt it. Yours sincerely used to get confused at that too when he started participating in campaigns and had to upload such.
2713  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The reason why the bounty section is the worst and most spamming board on: June 27, 2022, 01:19:51 PM
You can directly point fingers at altcoins alone, when looking at cryptocurrency,
We've to constantly factor in the fact that Bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency that isn't an altcoin. However, we still have to remember that it isn't all roses for Bitcoin also. It has had its numerous downtown too. It's currently having it now. However, Bitcoin has an ability to reinvent itself in a way whenever it crashes. That attribute is what most altcoins don't have. It's not as if there aren't the bad in Bitcoin too. Like you rightly stated, altcoins also have their good side too. In fact, to tell you the truth; alts give better ROI on a short term than Bitcoin investment.
2714  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador loses more than half the value of its reserves in bitcoins on: June 27, 2022, 12:05:50 PM
if you have a car.. and.. you are not going to sell it this year..
yet if someone tells you that will only buy it off of you at half price...

have you actually lost your car.. no
have you actually had the car cut in half where it now only has 2 wheels.. no

because.. you are not going to sell it this year..
I like your analogy. That's true. It's the same way when price bulls and the hodler isn't selling off. In cryptos, no one loses or makes profit until they've sold off.

I don't even think we should cry more than the bereaved. Until El Salvadorians start complaining of their loss in Bitcoin investment, I think the rest of the world should be mute on that. From what I read, the depreciation (not even loss) is infinitesimal and El Salvador isn't perturbed by it at all yet.
2715  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Short story] How do I use bitcoin as a means of payment! on: June 27, 2022, 11:13:27 AM
This is a real event, I told the seller that he has to convert his bitcoin directly to stablecoin if he doesn't want the money I paid in bitcoins for his land payments to fluctuate.
Your story sounds encouraging and patronizing for Bitcoin believers (or it should) but I find something not adding up there in the quoted part. As a firm believer of Bitcoin and in what it has been able to do and achieved for this industry. You said the incident you described actually happened and I'm wondering why you offered to convince the seller to convert the instrument of your transaction with him to a stablecoin. Why didn't you transact in stablecoin in the first place if you feared fluctuation? Both of you carried out the deal via exchanges. So, why didn't it hold in stablecoin? Doing business in Bitcoin and swapping it to any other crypto doesn't help the Bitcoin mass adoption course in my opinion.

Next time you may want to properly state the threads you're referring to in their titles, even bearing links. It makes it easier for both you and the readers to know the exact links they're about opening like what the user below you did. All you've to do is check other users to find out how they do it by acting like you're quoting them and you will see how it's done. Putting your posts that way improves your posting style (I'm sure you will like to write like a pro too). Using your links above as instant examples, let me make myself clearer...

1. Newbies - Read before posting
2. Bitcointalk posting etiquette
3. Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ
4. Ratimov's Forum Guides, Tutorials & Lists

You may want to add – The Fear of Newbies posting in Meta too 😳

As we are planning to build crypto portfolio for the future it's wiser to have someone in the family that know about our holding too, last week Monday I lost my father and so many things come to my mind like if I die tomorrow all my holding goes to waste since I'm not married yet and i am the only son I don't have anyone I can trust, anyone thinking the same?
Please, accept my condolences on the death of your Dad. May you find solace in God's abiding word. Death is an inevitable end for everything that has breath of life.

You truly raised serious concern with the situation you've painted there. It's slightly different from the usual death scenarios that have been captured in other threads. Yours lives you with only you and your Mum since your Dad is dead and you're an only son. However, you didn't tell us if you've trusted friends. I don't mean that you should expose your wallet(s) or passwords to them but people you can still will your stack to in the case of death. If you don't have anyone, you can will it to charity. Just make sure instructions on how to locate the wallets and their passwords are included in a sealed will. Above all, just make sure you treat yourself well from the little you earn now and let tomorrow worry about itself.
2719  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to avoid huge cryptocurrency disappointment on: June 26, 2022, 05:50:39 AM

1. DON'T TAKE ALL YOUR LIFE INVESTMENT INTO CRYPTOCURRENCY
This one is often associated with greed. No genuine or astute investor will want to indulge in something like that. It's a mere hyip (high yield investment programme). Hyips often end in premium tears so to say but ignorant people like the risk in it in finding a shortcut to quick riches. A few years ago I talked to a lady about investment in Bitcoin and she asked me if she could draw profit from it within a month of her investment. I told her that would depend on the market and had nothing to do with me finding a ROI for her. She said she wanted something that would guarantee her a certain ROI. I bluntly told her she was preparing herself for scam. This set of people see anyone taking it slowly as stupid until they're scammed or burnt. They learn the hard way.

Quote
3. HAVE SEPARATE SOURCE OF LIVELIHOOD FOR EMERGENCY
Well, this isn't holistic. There are crypto/forex traders who survive only on trading. Some would later diversify into other businesses from their gains in trading while others will keep it only on trading. There's no greater joy than making a living from the comfort of one's home. That's what trading affords. The bottom line is to have a handle on trading and every other thing falls into place.
2720  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mistake I made till now investing on crypto projects. on: June 25, 2022, 07:30:34 PM
  • Fake exchange listing promises: This project was introduced by one of my friends who was also got scammed by seeing their exchange listing documents. They use fake documents to attract investors.

Many users won't fall prey to this if they were to choose exchanges by themselves without being compelled by bounties they promote. I was a victim of this when I participated in bounties. Some of those projects we promoted, lied to us that in order to supposedly cut down on cost, that they had to open their own exchanges to list their tokens. Most of those exchanges never went operational. They were staged to collect users' personal data as bounty hunters were made to go through the rigours of KYC verification. That actually exposed our personal information to those scammers. I regret giving in to such during my noob days.[/list]
