Good morning Bitcoinland.

Flat as a pancake... currently $8245USD/$10420CAD (Bitcoinaverage);

Seems the passing of the USA tax date on April 17 had zero effect.

Let's see if International Cannabis Day (4/20) has any effect.  Cheesy

Why is Win7 safer than Win8?

I'm not a Microsoft engineer so I can't answer that but I do know I have fewer problems and privacy/anonymity issues with Win7.

Don't you find it strange that after waging all-out war against "piracy" in previous Windows versions, including product activation and disguising authenticity checkers as "important updates", Microsoft not only started giving their flagship product away for free, they practically shoved it down people's throats?

Not only that, but now it seems any new Win10 system comes bundled with their number 2 product, MS Office, waiting to be activated by (guess what?!) logging into an account at Microsoft.

Where do you think the replacement revenues are coming from?

When the day comes that I can't use Win7 (the tried-and-true TheThingy Win7 installer won't work with EUFI for example, only with legacy BIOS) I'll have no choice but to switch to Linux. You can't trust any American company. They're all under the thumb of Uncle Sam.

The first thing I do with any new laptop is remove anything mcafee.

The first thing I do with any new laptop is replace the HDD with an SSD (or add an M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD) and do a clean install of Win7.

Yes, McAfee is malware (John M sold the company decades ago and said he'd never install it on any of his own machines) but it's small potatoes compared to Win8 or Win10.

When the operating system itself is PRISM-based malware, bloatware is the least of your worries. Be very careful what OS updates you allow.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Seems we're having another quiet weekend with a slight rise... currently $8305USD/$10479CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Last week instead of a Monday rise we had a dip but it was wiped out by a healthy recovery a few days later. Let's see what this week brings.

Many are predicting a major rally after the USA tax date this week but I'm not so sure any single country has that much influence, at least not in the short term. Even major events like Japan officially legalizing Bitcoin take some time to digest. Response to negative events happens much more quickly due to the opportunity to shake out weaklings with well-orchestrated panics.

That said, I think it's reasonable to expect 5 digits by the end of April or early May and $12.5k by the end of May. Then? Watch out.

Go Bitcoin go.

If we're comparing to previous drops why not compare to this one...

Indeed.
2725  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 12, 2018, 02:51:40 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see we had a nice little rise back to where we were 3 weeks ago... currently $7637USD/$9631CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

This is a good start. Now let's keep it going.
2726  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 09, 2018, 03:30:56 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see we had a wee dip all the way down under $7k to where we were 3 days ago... currently $6734USD/$8620CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

OMG isn't that awful?  Grin

Even if I had some spare fiat to sell for coins, I wouldn't consider this a buyable dip. As it is I'm still recovering from a major dental tourism outlay and I'm actually even freeing up a few grand to buy some more jungle in Mexico. There's a small parcel just beyond electrical and water services that should be connected within a year.

I could put it on my "credit" card but I don't believe in going into debt or paying interest. Interest is something you earn, not pay. Maybe next year I can sell it at a good profit with a vendor takeback mortgage.
2727  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 08, 2018, 04:23:53 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

Nice to see we're still over $7k... currently $7007USD/$8769CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

So far no weekend dump. Maybe tomorrow will bring another leg up.

Go Bitcoin go.

"Good morning bitcoinland" messages disappearing from our discussion and an unpleasant red area appearing in the charts couldn't go unnoticed. After some exercise, looking for correlations becomes second natures, so some rationalities are being gently swayed. You are positive you have nothing to do with it, right?

Maybe it's the power of positive thinking. Ask Norman Vincent Peale.  Grin

Honestly, I wish I had that kind of influence.

What's this new game? I've been away.

There's a company here offering certification as a Blockchain Technician in Hyperledger Fabric. I have no idea what that is. Imagine that.

Welcome home, Jimbo!!

Thanx!
2731  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 07, 2018, 05:14:44 PM
Hey funny how once Jimbo left for Mexico BTC started going down and after he's back BTC is in the green again  Grin guess there's something we don't know about him!

Lawl. I wish.

If I actually had any influence or control, we'd already be in 6 digits.  Cheesy
2732  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 07, 2018, 04:38:17 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland. Back in the frozen north.

I see we're back up over $7k... currently $7044USD/$9010CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

I wish spring would hurry up, both for the Toronto weather and for the price of Bitcoin.

I left for Mexico during a snowstorm in mid-March and arrived back last night to freezing temperatures. Winter is starting to get as tedious as 4-digit Bitcoin prices.
____

Finally got my temporary dentures 3 hours before hopping on the plane and they'll take some getting used to. They feel like I have a mouthful of plastic. Halfway though my flight back I had to take them out.

They look good when they're in though. I'd almost forgotten how to grin. I'm sure I'll get used to them fairly soon but I'll still have to wait a couple more weeks before I can start chewing with them.

By next year they'll just be an unpleasant memory when I have solid zirconia teeth anchored securely in my skull. Being a Bitcoin holder definitely teaches you patience with optimism.

Thank you Bitcoin for my lovely new teeth and winter estate in sunny Mexico. Go Bitcoin go.

A late good morning Bitcoinland. Had to adjust the bamboo-mounted transponder to get a decent internet connection.

I see we're still going sideways in the mid $8k range... currently $8630USD/$11130CAD (Bitcoinsaverage).

It's now been about a year since we finally left 3 digits behind. Isn't it about time to move on to 5 digits for good?

2734  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 23, 2018, 05:47:22 PM
Good morning Bitcoinland.

Truckin' along sideways in the mid-$8k range... currently $8653USD/$111130CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Waiting for the weekend.

Not my proudest fap
Wow a lot of fags on this forum... isn’t there a fourm for gaycoin holders? My ignore button is getting overheated.
I’m sure they aren’t after you buddy. What’s the problem?
He’s in denial....just waiting to burst out of the closet

My thoughts exactly. Methinks the laddie doth protest too much. Unsure of his professed heterosexuality?
2735  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 23, 2018, 05:47:43 AM
I don't have an IRL. I was born in this thread and I'll die in it.
I'm actually a figment of Jimbo's imagination.

Does toothless go with spineless?      haahahhahahhaa...   All in good fun, of course.

I may be toothless but I've still got lots of spine.

Got my sutures out about 10 hours ago and I'm back in a palapa in the jungle with a surprisingly good internet connection.

Next week I'm back in Playa del Carmen to get fitted for temporary dentures which I'll get the week after that.

Then I can fly back north and 3 weeks after that I can eat solid food again.

I'm getting tired of smoothies, even beef, pork and chicken smoothies.

Too bad I have to wait another year to get the job finished.

Do you mean you have to manage without any teeth for a whole year? Did you have any left before starting the implant surgery?

I thought the operation was fast.

The whole procedure takes over a year but I only have to go without any teeth for 6-8 weeks.

I still had most of my teeth before Friday but they were in pretty bad shape. The surgery involved extraction of all my remaining teeth, 4 sinus lift surgeries, 12 bone grafts, 2 re-lines and 2 PRGF plasma treatments.

A structure is only as good as its foundation so I spared no expense in time nor money in making sure the job is done right. Luckily Mexican dentistry is cutting edge, best in the world. Making sure my bone structure is strong cost me an extra half year and about $13kUSD.

On Thursday I'll have the sutures removed and after a couple more weeks I'll get temporary dentures so I can head back up north, but I still won't be able to chew with them. They'll be strictly cosmetic for at least a month and a half. In fact, I was instructed to take them out while eating. By June I should be able to chew soft foods with them.

After that, it's a matter of waiting at least 6 months before getting my implants. By then it'll be the rainy season and hurricane season. By the time the good weather returns here, the holiday season will be upon us so I'll probably wait until January for the implants. A few extra months of healing can only be good.

Then it will be another half year before I finally get my zirconia teeth installed. By then I'll be 71 years old so hopefully they'll last me for the rest of my life.

Thank you Bitcoin.

Good morning Bitcoinland. Missed yesterday due to being hung over from far too much tequila with far too little agua purificada. I tried to behave myself but was overcome by cabin (hotel room) fever and went out for some live music. Unfortunately the gang at the bar remembered me from January and started buying me shots.

We seem to be recovering quite nicely from the dip a few days ago... currently $8840USD/$11560CAD (Bitcoinaverage). Maybe we'll be back in 5 digits by the end of the week.
____

Thanks to all the well-wishers who posted support for my convalescence. Things seem to be progressing as they should.

The worst part is that I so want to sink my teeth into a juicy steak. Trouble is, I've got no teeth to sink in.  Sad

No regrets. I'm spending my bitcoins on something worthwhile. At least I procrastinated long enough on my dental work to afford top-of-the-line implants. Too bad I have to wait another year to get the job finished. Hopefully by the time I need to pay for the zirconia, I'll only need to spend a fraction of a coin.

Go Bitcoin go.

Well good afternoon Bitcoinland. Just got online after successful surgery Friday.

I see I missed some excitement while I was away... big dip and big recovery... currently $8172USD/$10700CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

It's pretty much back to where it was before I went in. Woke up and decided to fire up the laptop just in time to catch the end of the rally.

I guess my bladder alarm still works.   Cool

Nothing to do now but relax in the Mexican sun and convalesce until I get my sutures removed on Thursday. I can't fly for at least a couple more weeks but at least I can head out to the jungle later this week.

I'm currently toothless with very fragile gums after bone grafts to my jaws. Needless to say, I'm on a totally liquid diet. Ever have pork tacos pureed in a blender? Delicious!

Good morning Bitcoinland from sunny Playa del Carmen. 5 days here including surgery tomorrow before heading out to the jungle. Left Toronto in a blizzard. They were spraying deicer on the wings while we were taxiing into position for takeoff, Gorgeous weather here though.

Missed yesterday's dip due to travel (Google ad ban FFS?) but woke up to see partial recovery. Go make a coffee and take a shower and it's gone back down some more... currently $8104SD/$10565CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Hopefully this ridiculous panic will be forgotten soon. The irony is that I received a few grand extra revenues just before leaving. Unfortunately there's no Bitcoin infrastructure here in Quintana Roo so I can't jump on this buying opportunity.

I couldn't have brought any more cash anyhow. The most they'll let you carry is $10kUSD. Oh well. I'd be glad to just see 5 digits by the time I go back.
