2721  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Export list of private keys from BitcoinCore on: May 11, 2020, 11:17:23 PM
I'm not quite sure I understand what your issue is... you're concerned that there might be some sort of "spyware" in Bitcoin Core? Huh
Yes, that or some nefarious software on my operating system. Big transactions were signed that I don't have knowledge of. I have to do forensic investigation to try to find out the culprit, but for now I'm not using Core. The transactions went first to one address, and after 6 confirmations it went to a mixer. The outgoing transactions were hidden in the GUI. Incoming transactions were also hidden, so it looked like the balance was smaller than what it really was. This way, the sudden drop in the wallet balance would not be visible.
...
I lost quite a bit, so I don't think my fear was misguided. I do think someone had my private keys, and they got some scheme going that is quite significant. If they clean out my wallet instantly, it's too obvious, and the scheme stops. But if they just tap wallets slowly over years, it can go undiscovered for a long time.
Could it be a keylogger? Could it be that I downloaded a bad version of Core? Maybe, I've been sloppy and not done checksum after each download.
Could it be a bad random number generator? I don't know.
Sorry to hear that... but I'm fairly sure that it's not issues in Bitcoin Core... There are Bitcoin Core wallets out there with quite substantial amounts of BTC in them... if it was an, as yet, unpublished vulnerability within Bitcoin Core, then I'm sure there would be more instances of people being milked.

As Bob said, most likely something on your system got compromised. Sad Undecided

In any case, it sounds like you've taken steps to prevent it from happening again!
2722  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: BITCOIN AS GIFTS FOR TEENAGERS on: May 11, 2020, 11:10:05 PM
Note that sat2.io is utilising "Lightning Network"... not necessarily a problem, but something to be aware of. These transactions are generally "off-chain"... and really designed for "small" amounts.

Also, check out BlueWallet here: https://bluewallet.io/

I've used BlueWallet, it's not too bad. Probably worth checking out for your purposes. Wink

Note: When/If you eventually want to withdraw the bitcoins to a "normal" Bitcoin wallet, it will create an "on-chain" transaction... unfortunately, BlueWallet doesn't currently actually have a withdraw feature implemented, so you need to use an "exchange" (they currently redirect to zigzag.io).
2723  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Ridiculous tray icon bug on: May 11, 2020, 10:47:23 PM
The bitcoin.conf file is empty, I guess on Linux this is done through the bitcoin-qt.conf file... I've tried adding fHideTrayIcon=false to bitcoin.conf but it didn't do anything.
No, by default, bitcoin.conf is empty, you'd need to add the option yourself. Note that bitcoin-qt.conf is a completely different and separate file and used for different things!

It's not a major problem, I moved Core to a different Workspace, but it just makes me think that if this isn't working as it should then maybe something else that's way more important isn't working as it should either.
So, it works OK when it's in a different Workspace? or are you just using the other workspace to hide the icon? Huh

It's somewhat common problem if you use linux, even though usually it's annoying UI bug/glitch. Developer don't test their software across different linux distro or different DE.
I don't think it's a Bitcoin Core bug tho... as I fired up a Linux Mint Cinnamon VM and installed Bitcoin Core v0.19.1 on it... and it works fine. I can see the the minimise to tray options, they're "clickable" and function as they should:

There must be something about defa1's setup that has changed the options for the notification tray.
2724  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live 2.1.0, 2.2.0, 2.2.3 Installers and Uninstallers flagged as Malware on: May 11, 2020, 01:13:56 AM
Has anyone experienced any problems updating their Ledger Live to the newest version (2.3.2, I think)? For some reason it just wont update on my end. For a couple of days I wasn't even able to initiate the download process. Clicking on the download button in Ledger Live didn't do anything. Over WIFI I couldn't do it.
Yep, at first it appeared that the "download now" link was completely non-functional... and I'm on an Ethernet connection. Then, out of nowhere, it starts "downloading update" with the % counter jumping all over the place. I suspect because I had clicked it "several" times  so it was downloaded several copies! Tongue Roll Eyes Grin Undecided

Eventually, one of them got to 100% and finally "install now"... unfortunately, before I could click it, one of the other "many clicks" must have finally registered and it started downloading AGAIN (with % jumping around again)! Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes It then ended up in the "Downloaded 100%" state.

So, I shut down and re-opened Ledger Live, then clicked the "Download Now" link ONCE... and left it. After a short delay, it whizzed through the download and ended up in "Install Now". Clicking "Install Now" and it updated without any further issues:

I presume with all the craziness of late, that the Ledger servers are once again taking a complete hammering Undecided And that there is quite some latency between pushing the "download" button and the request being served. Which of course then leads users to click the link a couple more times to make sure they did actually click it... and I believe it is the multiple downloads being triggered that then eventually causes some sort of locking/blocking and the "Downloaded 100%" and the inability to get to the "install now" link.

Have you tried to clear the "Ledger Live" updater "cache"? It's in: C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\ledger-live-desktop-updater (Note that it's in "Local" and not "Roaming".)

In any case, it seems a minor UI change here where it immediately changes to a "downloading..." label after you click it once could help prevent this situation. Possibly something they might want to integrate to prevent users getting stuck while trying to update.

But HCP will surely say there is no need to moan Grin Cheesy
Just because I can understand why certain commercial decisions may be made, that doesn't necessarily mean I agree with those decisions, nor does it mean I am going to defend everything they do. Maybe leave your smart arse comments at home next time? "lol" <insert emote here to make ad hominem attack "OK"> Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

And if you desperately need/want to update and the built in update isn't working out: https://github.com/LedgerHQ/ledger-live-desktop/releases

Kry Games Bot - Version 4 of Seuntjies DiceBot (Public Alpha)
Some "good" news on a Monday... was not expecting this announcement! Wink

KryGamesBot has a UI version that is (for now) windows only and a cross platform Console version
This is potentially going to make a few people quite happy... Having a MacOSX and Linux version available is a big step!

Hopefully the GUIs for those OSes won't be too far away.

It's important to note that the API for the programmer mode has changed since v3 and old programmer mode scripts will not work.
Guess I have some reading to do! Wink
2727  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum 3.3.8 Not Connected on: May 10, 2020, 11:53:54 PM
If changing the DNS worked, it might be your ISP/Router DNS blocking the electrum servers? Huh

What were the default DNS settings in your Virtual Machine where Electrum worked OK? Huh
2728  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Stupidly reinstalled Google Authenticator and lost 2Fa on: May 10, 2020, 08:59:04 AM
You have a couple of options:

If you want to keep 2FA:

Option 1. Setup a NEW 2FA wallet, restore your "old" wallet with the seed, then send from the restored one to the new one

or

Option 2. Contact TrustedCoin from the email address you originally used to create/register the 2FA wallet and ask them to reset it

if you don't care about 2FA:

Restore your wallet from seed and you'll be able to send without 2FA. (In this scenario, I'd also recommend creating a new "standard" wallet and shifting the funds to the new "standard" wallet... it'll help avoid complications with dealing with what is effectively a 2-of-3 multisig... ie. not being able to sign messages etc)

2731  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Ridiculous tray icon bug on: May 10, 2020, 12:46:27 AM
No... I was talking about bitcoin.conf... there is an option in that that allows you to specify the "minimise to tray" option... I think bitcoin-qt.conf is some sort of OS specific configuration file, because on Windows... all those "f" and "n" values are all located in the Registry... there is no bitcoin-qt.conf.

It seems more and more like this is an OS/Desktop environment problem, and not a Bitcoin Core issue, per se.

Is there anything in the OS settings/control panel that deals with tray icons etc?
2732  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Unconfirmed transaction on: May 09, 2020, 04:08:14 AM
The fastest and cheapest transaction fee is currently 114 satoshis/byte

Just wait a little more
Firstly, as I mentioned in the post immediately above yours, with the pretty pictures... OPs transaction is already confirmed! Roll Eyes

Secondly, where are you getting your fee information from? Or was your 114 a typo and you mean 14? Because 114 is WAAAYYYYYYYY too much...

Currently, anything north of 20-25 sats/byte is likely to be 1 or 2 blocks...

114 is just ridiculous!!?! Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

You just copy/pasted from: https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/ right? Don't use that site... it's terrible at telling you what the best fees are... Tongue If you want "simple" and don't want to put any effort into figuring out what to use... try this one: https://btc.com/stats/unconfirmed-tx It's much much better than the earn.com one.
2733  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Unconfirmed transaction on: May 09, 2020, 03:38:23 AM
Add the pray for ViaBTC to find a block option  Grin
I was reading your topic at '58 mins so, with nothing better to do, I did submit your tx in the first seconds.
Looks like OP got lucky... as did ViaBTC! Wink Transaction got included in block# 629574 which was mined by ViaBTC...

Although the fee rates on the network are slowly decreasing... so it would probably have confirmed "naturally" about now anyway... anything above 20 sats/byte is most likely "next block" at the moment:

2734  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: BITCOIN AS GIFTS FOR TEENAGERS on: May 09, 2020, 03:33:34 AM
The BRD wallet is the most interesting to most of the tenenagers but the  transaction fees is high. Taking into consideraton that they are receiving small amount of bitcoin. There is an instance where the transaction fees was more than the 0.0005BTC that was a consolation prize to the participant.
"BRD: IMPORT WALLET: Transaction fees would cost more than the funds available on this private key"
I suspect that it might just be a case of "bad timing"™... with the BTC price nudging USD$10K, and the halving approaching... the network has become quite chaotic and very busy. As such, there are a LOT of transactions occurring and with that, a sharp uptick in fee rates Undecided

It is a little disappointing to see that BRD doesn't support fully customised fees... and only has a "Low Priority/Normal/Priority" system in place Undecided

Still, this could be treated as a learning opportunity to educate the recipients on how the bitcoin network works and how fee rates work with respect to the number of unconfirmed transactions and confirmation times etc.

What we really need is a button that stabs someone in their motherfucking face over the internet.
You owe me a new keyboard... and a cup of tea! hahaha... funniest thing I've read all week! And I totally sympathise... this is indeed what we need! I'm sure anyone that has ever worked tech support can relate:

But failing that, a "this is awful wtf"  button that e.g. can only be pressed by users who have recieved over (say) 1000 merit and which only shows something on the post when it's been pressed at least three times, would at least be a start.
Maybe "tags" that could be applied to a post to give an indication that it's just plain bullshit? Only issue I see is that unless it's available to all, we'll run into the "censorship" issue... and potential for abuse.
2736  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: User Drunk Teacher is a SCAMMER? on: May 09, 2020, 01:07:35 AM
Do you have any proof to link these 2 accounts? Huh If so, post it here and the 2nd account will also get tagged.

It won't get your money back, but at least it might help stop someone else from being scammed!
2737  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: User Drunk Teacher is a SCAMMER? on: May 09, 2020, 12:40:23 AM
Why did you attempt a trade today with a user that has been tagged for over a YEAR(!!?!) with negative trust for being a scammer? Huh Huh Shocked Shocked

Unfortunately, scams are not moderated here... so scammers will NOT be banned. They get tagged with negative trust, and if you are a victim, you can also raise a flag the others can support, which helps warn others.

You'll need to provide proof as well... include screenshots of emails/IMs etc. here... and then link this thread into your flag. If you have lost money then raise a type 3 flag ("This user violated a written contract with me, resulting in damages.") here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;addflag=2557410

2739  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can anyone block coins or transaction in blockchain ?! on: May 09, 2020, 12:17:28 AM
the interesting thing is that in the blockchain explorer, the transaction is there, it is confirmed, the receiving address is correct, but the coins never reached the destination wallet.
Is the destination wallet yours? Is it someone elses? Huh

It honestly sounds like someone is trying to scam you for more money by claiming that they didn't receive the funds you sent... and then making up a bullshit story that your transaction was "blocked".

Or, if it's your wallet, it sounds like your wallet simply isn't synced properly and is not displaying the transaction.
2740  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Unconfirmed transaction on: May 09, 2020, 12:07:52 AM
Yeah, your fee rate is 4-5 full blocks from the tip:

To get confirmed within the next 5 blocks, you'd need for no-one to add any transaction(s) with a higher fee rate than yours Undecided

Given what is happening with the network right now, and the BTC-$ price flirting with USD$10k... I'd expect things to be quite chaotic for a while. As TryNinja has suggested, your only options at this point are:

1. Wait.
2. Bump the fee if your wallet supports "RBF" (Replace-by-fee) and you marked the transaction as "RBF opt-in".
3. Try and use "CPFP" (Child Pays For Parent) if you have control over any of the outputs created by this transaction.
4. Spend $$$ trying to use a paid transaction accelerator service like: https://pushtx.btc.com/
5. Try the free (but difficult to get a slot) accelerator at: https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/ (limited to 100 slots per/hr, usually fills within 5 seconds of a new hour starting! Shocked)

Be wary of all the "scam" accelerators tho... they don't work and there are plenty of them about!
