281  Other / Politics & Society / Re: U.S. Aircraft Strike ISIS Targets in Iraq on: August 11, 2014, 12:46:34 PM
are there any images of the air strikes, I saw this on many media outlet but no images were provided

There's live updates on the Guardian website: http://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2014/aug/11/iraq-crisis-us-air-strikes-help-kurds-retake-territory-live-updates

Also a video of the first airstrike here:  http://www.ibtimes.com/us-airstrikes-watch-planes-bomb-isis-targets-iraq-video-1653972

The video is a nice catch, well I guess will have to wait till information are dis-classified
282  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russia is getting ready to bomb the USA :( on: August 11, 2014, 11:34:31 AM

I think this is written for the benefit of the US citizens so that they will let the government to spend more on military rather then on health care :-)
Btw, nuclear bombers, doesn't mean they have nuke's on board  Roll Eyes
They do these flights all the time, even over normal grounds, to test the response time of other country fighters.
I think this is something that is very dangerous, and could easily spark an unintentional war. The other country's fighter jets could fire on the bomber, which could fire back in defense, which could potentially escalate.

actually no, because it's a common practice, US and other countries probably has a couple of nuclear submaries and stealth submarines near Russia for example, heck a recent report of a stealth US submarine that was detected and chased out of territorial water by Russian navy

I didn't visit this thread in a long while, and it seems to be still going pretty strong, well here a little contribution in continuation with the previous post

Why answer difficult questions with simple words ?

Why answer simple questions with difficult words?

isn't it easier to understand when the answer uses simple words ?
285  Other / Off-topic / Re: Does God judge the nations? on: August 11, 2014, 11:16:15 AM
according to Christianism, Islam, Judaism, God do punish nations, population, group of people and there were many examples cited in each
286  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Key Points about the Jewish religion on: August 11, 2014, 11:05:59 AM
There are Ashkenazi Jews who share a similar genetic profile. There are Ethiopian Jews who share a similar genetic profile. And there are Middle Eastern and North African Jews who share a similar genetic profile. But Jews are not really a race but a people and a religion. That is the most important thing about the Jewish people. They are a people and a religion.
Quote
I read somewhere that Jews cannot be near the homeless because it could turn them poor, which is against the Jewish religion, nor can they walk under ladders .
I don't know much about that. Sorry.

Most Jews are not genetically tied, anyone can become a Jew if they desire so and they have the conviction to do so as it takes a while.
287  Other / Politics & Society / Re: U.S. Aircraft Strike ISIS Targets in Iraq on: August 11, 2014, 11:03:37 AM
US airforce is now working side by side with Syrians, Turks, Iranians, Iraqi and Russians airforce targeting ISIS. I hope they will destroy ISIS for good.

They will not, force doesn't work at all, the only thing force could do, is lower ISIS capabilities which a good thing to do right now, but deal with ISIS you need to deal with the source of the problem, and the flow on new recruites coming mainly from devastated areas and people suffering and this should be the real long terms plan, doing just military action ill just strengthens Extrimism in general as proven in the last decade
288  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Key Points about the Jewish religion on: August 11, 2014, 10:58:10 AM
The points you've mentioned are shared between the 3 religions more or less one or two point, I don't think that these are key points, key points would be what makes someone a Jew, how Jews are to behave in society, and with the state....ect
289  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was shot down by an air-to-air missile on: August 11, 2014, 10:54:11 AM
the article doesn't provide any proofs, but this goes in accordance to Russian radar images and the plane they detected in their radar.

For me there are only too possible scenarios for this crash that are logical from a geopolitical standpoint (and I know this is repeating what coming out on the media)

a- The plane was targeted by separatist by mistake (as nor Russia or Pro-Russia separatist has anything to gain from
downing such a civilian plane) on the other hand I don't know how can the separatists can operate such equipment as it requires a minimum knowledge I guess

b- The plane was targeted to blame Russia and Separatists and weaken their case which is if it's true sounds horrible, but this is not the first time such thing happened, examples would be Vietnam and Iraqi war
290  Other / Politics & Society / Re: SOUTH KOREA sends 720 lb toxic payload to North Korea on: August 11, 2014, 10:42:36 AM
I saw this a couple of week ago, and this is a response to a ban of a certain brand of chocolate in north korea, South koreans are sending ballons with chocolates to north Korea that's all to it, are you trolling with your title?
291  Other / Politics & Society / Re: New Orleans "Street Scams" on: August 11, 2014, 10:37:04 AM
It's not a scam it's just theft, because at the end they force you to give the money and shoes without anything contractual.

As someone who travels a lot, I think there is a minimum of things to do, avoid shaddy area and if you go there don't carry valuables, and where plain things

Avoid showing off your stuff, there are thiefs/scammers that would choose their targets from the hotel exit and approach you when you'd least expect it

Moving in groups help, but I think the most important thing is to work on the individual behavior before anything else

being in a European jail is better than being gunned down by a tank.

Being in a (Western) European jail is much different than ending up in an Israeli prison or an American one. In the first type, you can pass your time by playing Xbox and Nintendo. However, no such luxuries in other parts of the world.

Very true, I've heard the Norwegian prisons are the most luxury of all.

http://gfx.dagbladet.no/labrador/236/236815/23681547/jpg/active/978x.jpg

Norwegian prisons are better than real apartments or houses! I would imagine that is a problem there because poor people would just do a small crime to get into jail, and live better than they did pre-jail. Do the norwegian jails cost a lot to maintain by the government? I assume so.

I think, and I hope a Norwegian person will correct me if I'm wrong, that Norway has a strong social system, also the jobless rates are quite low, so in general people are fine

Edit: also it seems that not all prison in Norway like that, there is only one prison to my knowledge like that, but that of course doesn't change the fact that Norway has a more human approach to prisoners and prepare them for their prison exit
293  Other / Politics & Society / Re: White House won’t commit on stopping potential ‘genocide’ in Iraq on: August 11, 2014, 10:14:45 AM
There was nothing wrong with the intelligence information. But Obama had earlier suppressed the intelligence, so that his allies (Qatar & Saudi Arabia) could continue arming the ISIS in Syria.
I don't think either of those countries were arming the ISIS. They both have a vested interest in peace in the middle east as if there is war in that area then it could spread to their countries. Both countries have a very weak military and could be overrun by the US or most of any one European country.
Actually they weren't arming ISIS as it is, The west + those states were arming/training/financing separatist groups in Syria, but the problems started to arise the conflict started to be long in time, and a fracture in supporting those groups after the events happening in Libya made things worst and make room for extremism and groups like Alqaeda in, with Bachar holding ground things degenerated and the devision in Iraq makes things easier especially with how Sunnis were threated there in recent years
294  Other / Politics & Society / Re: U.S. Aircraft Strike ISIS Targets in Iraq on: August 11, 2014, 10:05:22 AM

295  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What do you think about the actual world conflicts? on: August 10, 2014, 09:53:07 PM
Most conflicts (whish we don't talk about) are border related after imperialism era, when colonial forces left they didn't leave clear borders hence many conflicts in Africa for example are related to this or tension in Asia for that matter

Civil wars and extremism, and religious fanatics are also a source of conflict

Then comes geopolitical reasons and this usually are at a bigger scale and most of the time includes the US directly or indirectly such Ukraine right now, or Iraq, Vietnam, Korea, China sea ect
296  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Argentina default, why didn't bitcoin go up more? on: August 10, 2014, 08:27:40 PM
I don't know if the BTC that being dumped by the US State departement, is a cause, but the price didn't budge for a couple of months now, for no apparent reason and despite a succession of good news such as the adoption of BTC by wikipedia, or Dell ....ect so Argentina defaulting (which is actually still up to question) didn't have the same effect as Cyprus
297  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you either No. 1 on: August 10, 2014, 07:59:19 PM
to what extent the 24/7 wearing cloths go ? can you for example remove them to take a shower ?
298  Other / Off-topic / Re: FUCK THIS SHIT! Here's why I'm moving. on: August 10, 2014, 07:54:07 PM
I personally woudn't mind that weather as long as it isn't in weekend, having a relatively cool week is better than the 30-35C with high humidity after storms
299  Other / Politics & Society / Re: White House won’t commit on stopping potential ‘genocide’ in Iraq on: August 10, 2014, 07:46:43 PM
isn't this a contradicting news with what was annoucend aka, a long term plan which will include airstrikes, but probably arming the Iraqi army, I feel like that source isn't that reliable tho

Iraqi army had enough weapons to fight ISIS, but Sunni officers betrayed the Shia government (which oppressed Sunnis) and many of those weapons are now in the hands of ISIS.
The US should urgently give weapons to the kurds, who are bearing the brunt of the ISIS offensive now. However, I doubt Obummer will do this.
Yes I'm following the situation in Iraq, and I don't know why the US left such government in place, from the get go they were opressing Sunnis (and Iraq become a good strong hold for Iran) not to mention how they allowed the country to be divided and with Kurds taking a lot of territories in north.

As for the offensive when I look at maps, I see that Isis used the path that separate Kurd control area and Iraqi controlled area to penetrate Iraq from Syria,
300  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russia is getting ready to bomb the USA :( on: August 10, 2014, 07:35:55 PM
Those nuclear bombers are obsolete and are used more for declared reconnaissance than anything else, It can be detected by all modern radars, it's not fast nor maneuverable and interceptor could blow it down, the advantage of using such plane, is the altitude, the range and the equipment it can carry that's why they are used

and what with the title of this thread? the only realistic way to drop nukes on the US would be trough ICBM or Nuclear submarines planes are more or less obsolete
