281  Other / Archival / Re: Are investors investing in Bitcoin at ATH now are fools ? on: March 04, 2024, 08:32:24 PM
Are investors investing in Bitcoin at ATH now are fools ?  Is there chance of major correction from here as prices have already peaked now.
Buying Bitcoin at ATH is a mistake but it was different from buying during bull season which is believed that it was still a profitable decision.
Of course, corrections are inevitable which I think was in your mind and it was possible but have to consider that Bitcoin is been proven to recover from when dumps occur. If we just hold and wait for that moment, we never lose any amount but earn a profit.

But of course, I don't suggest people start accumulating Bitcoin at this time but rather make it during the bear season for a bigger profit.
Perhaps, we should be practical knowing that we can multiply more on our investment when buying cheap compared when buying at the current price.
282  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: March 04, 2024, 01:20:32 PM
This is another surprising outcome. I thought that Converge already had control of the game, but they ended up losing. Another overtime game this season and I think this is the 3rd time already I witnessed an overtime game. Northport managed to beat Converge 104-112, just unbelievable. Are they rigging this? Grin

Anyway, great game by Tolentino who finished with 31 points despite his struggle from beyond the arc.

Tolentino has now become the star player of Northport, but let's watch out for a possible trade in the future as that could happen since Northport are not a championship team and they can easily give up their star player.

Some players we are seeing in NLEX now came from Northport, Anthony and Bollick is  now leading the NLEX... Also, before there was Romeo and Pringle, but now they are in the SMB team. So even if this team (Northport) will improve, they will not become a championship team.
283  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Should trading be for the rich? on: March 03, 2024, 12:38:25 PM
If you have an idea if you have education if you have taken courses and are very skilled then surely you can become a millionaire by trading.
That is possible but can't just take it easy because there is no instant learning and profit in trading. Many traders had good knowledge and a high level of skill but some of them quit and become unsuccessful because trading does not just require knowledge and skill only but also patience. Impatient people if not all, but mostly had end with unsuccessful stories and failures. And a reason why we should never underestimate trading or say it was too easy is, we just know how difficult it is when we are in an actual situation.

Yes, rich or poor, trading welcomes everyone but don't dare if we have a lack of trust and unprepared. Otherwise, we can be one of those who try but say goodbye later.
284  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC profit taking strategies? on: March 01, 2024, 07:26:29 PM

Anyways, the strategy I'm considering is something like, when BTC crosses $100K CAD, (it's currently at $83K CAD) I plan on selling 0.01 BTC per week. Kind of like DCA but in reverse. Then possibly increasing that amount alongside BTC value, so if it crosses $125K, sell 0.0125 BTC per week, 0.015 per week at $150K, etc.

Instead of selling 0.01BTC per week, why not sell them all when it reaches your target price?
In fact, you actually know the volatility of the market and its unpredictable price. What if the price will no longer move higher over $100k and it drops again, are you gonna hold or sell?

If you BTC OP at $60k last bull season, even selling them at $100k or $90k is already a huge profit. I don't think it ever satisfies you. Remember, greediness was not bad but if there is too much greediness, that is not right anymore.
 - it should be planned well and make decisions that we never have to regret. If your strategy is working effectively, then stay with it.
285  Other / Off-topic / Re: Does having children have an influence on gambling habits? on: March 01, 2024, 06:53:27 PM
When you have one or more children, you have heavy responsibilities. Sometimes you're on a tight budget. Can being a parent change our playing habits? Are losses even harder to bear when you're in charge of a family? What are your experiences in this area?
If you are a responsible father, I couldn't think we have to spend more money and time on gambling but rather give priority to our family and kids. If you are a heavy gambler before, that will really be changed.

I'm not in that kind of experience but I know how to control my gambling habits even though I have no big family yet. For the word responsible, it means a lot, and even though we only have 1 kid, I don't think we need to wait to compromise our finances before controlling our gambling habits. It was not a good idea nor we should have to experience that thing before we realized our wrong financial practices.
286  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The shocking rate of women interested in gambling. on: March 01, 2024, 06:21:08 PM
Numbers are growing but the probability of winning is just the same as with men. Maybe you are thinking OP that women are good at making predictions/bets but there is no proof to support such a claim. Gambling is about more on luck, of course, we can't buy such saying that women are more lucky than men.

It was just the number, not the winning rate IMO. We may see a lot of women in the casino but guess what, not all of them are gamblers, they are just joining their partners and enjoying life in the casino. In general, men and women are equal in gambling --some are too lucky, some are not as well. No data to support that women are better at gambling, maybe in some areas, fields, or offices.
287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: People are selling now, what are you keeping for later and which are you selling on: March 01, 2024, 01:29:09 PM
We expect such a thing to happen --FOMO. People are selling off their coins worrying that they will miss the opportunity. It has happened before and certainly, it will happen again and again. But guess what, they will soon regret when witnessing the price of their coins continue to increase. This is what happened to me before because of some negative influence and of the IFs.

If we just buy ETH and some potential coins and at least hold them until when the price of Bitcoin hits its new ATH that is worth enough.
288  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is sharing insights the key to better trading? on: March 01, 2024, 12:54:07 PM
The knowledge you acquire from such community can help  in your trading skill, insight class should always be an interactive one whereby you get different knowledge and strategies to benefit, trading is not difficult but it has some deeper strategy and sometimes if you lack the idea and strategy that's when you find trading difficult, the ability to accumulate the knowledge and insights shared determines your progress, people who share different ideas about trade are just humans like everyone and they give their ideas and predictions willingly in discussions for newbies to learn and during such class newbies should also be interactive to learn fast
In fact, even experts and old timers still continue acquiring knowledge, gaining ideas from other successful traders, and improving their skills because it is necessary. This means that it was an effective strategy to improve our trading performance. That is why we don't assume that we are knowledgeable already or think that we are good enough but rather think that we need to acquire new ideas and learn new things because the market movement has also changed. We did this because that is the thing we are supposed to do. Otherwise, we just limit our achievement which in fact, there is a way we can improve it more.
289  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If I bet big I lose, but if I bet small I win on: March 01, 2024, 05:52:31 AM
Well, I think it's just a coincidence. Because if so, and working in your case them why not bet small so you can win consistently, right? Just like in martingale strategy, if you increase your wager after loss, your mindset is recovering the losses quick by doing this strategy. But is it really working? No. Because there's no such consistent winning since losing is also inevitable.

Gambling is unpredictable, you can win or lose base on your luck. Therefore, regardless of how much you wager, if you're not lucky then you can't win.
It is a coincidence that happens to everyone. When we bet big, there are times that it's not going to hit big just as what we think it should be. That's why I agree that a gambler should just bet small so that there won't be hot takes like this and no regrets afterward when there are unfortunate moments upon betting. As for the martingale, it pushes us to bet more after each bets for the thinking that we might get lucky next. That's true with that comparison and it's hard to get on that idea when you've been stuck into doing so. We can conclude here to just gamble responsibly and gamble with the amount that you're okay and can afford to lose. So if there are moments that you can't accept, you'd just say to yourself that it's fine because you only bet small. But again with these moments, you'll have the realization again about what if you bet big and you win that time. I guess that's the cycle there and it's not going to stop anytime soon, we always have those times that we regret, we compare, we try to think again of what ifs and etc. pertaining to the result of our bets.
It was not just a coincidence because that always happens to most of us and I've found it why, it was because they feel unconscious when betting huge amounts leading to making wrong decisions, unlike betting a small amount where just feel okay if ever we lose. We're not sure if there is a pattern applied by most gambling sites but I think they know the behavior of the bettors based on their betting style. If we never calm down and just let our emotions decide, we will never have the chance to win.
290  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price is rising faster and faster, It is time to Buy Bitcoin ! on: February 29, 2024, 10:32:50 PM
so whenever you see anyone scream large extreme numbers that dont fit any previous pattern.. half their amount and thats what to actually expect the screamers to want to sell for

Maybe for the new investors this makes them interested. But I feel like I have a target, because I have experience. But I'm afraid the pattern will change. This means that BTC could reach ATH before the halving and that could fool us all because of different histories. There are high hopes that the ATH pattern achieved after the halving can shift because the market is always difficult to guess. Today's market is also very fast changing, the effect of Spot ETFs seems to have a big effect on price movements.
Apparently, there is a huge gap between 5 years, 10 years ago, and of the current situation which means that the market trend is changing. But I couldn't say that it will totally change the pattern because I still believe that new ATH comes every 4 years. In fact, we have the same pattern in the previous halving where a huge increase happens before and another pump after the said event. If ever the price of Bitcoin breaks its previous ATH before halving, we can't then assume that it never pumps after and makes another ATH.

That is still uncertain, we never know exactly which is why we better take this chance to buy now and wait for the incoming.
291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just hodl, bitcoin will do the silencing. on: February 29, 2024, 09:35:26 PM
If El Salvador sells their Bitcoins, they will gain that huge profit but I don't think that was in the mind of the President. Therefore, they don't earn that yet.

Well, we could use that example that holding Bitcoin really makes sense but I don't encourage holding forever as we're not making any profit from it.
Buy, Hold, and SELL -- this is how it works. But El Salvador has another reason for the accumulation of Bitcoin and that is for their future currency, not like the intent of casual investors.

This is an eye-opening for doubtful people, impatience people gain less while holders get more. Of course, we can choose where we become comfortable but it was advised to trust our investment.
292  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia on April 20 on: February 29, 2024, 12:31:20 PM
^^ If I'm not mistaken, Haney could have the advantage if the fight is going to be in Vegas. But regardless though, it could have been the capacity of the venue that why they move it to New York. And I think their fans are going to travel as Garcia's fanbase is LA. Seen some footage of Ryan Garcia in Twitter, fast hands, but it's just a matter on whether he can executed it against the defense of Haney. And at 140 lbs, both could be in the best shape of their lives as they will be no problems with weight management specially with Ryan as he had problems with 135 lbs when he fought Tank Davis. But against Duarte, we can see that his body is build like a natural jr. welterweight.

Both are from LA but Haney is residing in Vegas so maybe it is an advantage for him if the fight is held there. But I think Ryan is banking on Vegas for the expensive ticket sales. The venue will be smaller in Vegas but it is expected to be more expensive which is why it can generate more money than the other venues.

It's not that hard to look good in training. Even none pros can be good in videos too. Ryan did not looked fast in his last fight at 140. But we'll see if there are improvements. What is clear though is Haney looks good, not in training but in his last fight against an experienced 2 time champion.

Definitely no question about the conditioning of Haney, as he always comes out on top in his fights. Ryan Garcia should be the concern here because even though he won his last fight, he wasn't really dominating his opponent from the very start. I was a bit nervous watching that fight, thinking that Ryan might lose. Good thing he was able to develop a new defensive strategy while still keeping his power. But honestly, I'm not sure if his strategy will work against Haney or if he can make the right adjustments to win.
293  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Risking 1% in Gambling on: February 29, 2024, 12:00:41 PM
Recently I decided to risk only 1 percent of my gambling portfolio into each bet. This makes my bet risk free as I know that even if I lose the bet i will lose only 1% of my gambling money.

What does "gambling portfolio" even mean? Why not just use the word "budget". Stealing terms from investing lingo doesn't quite work here.
First of all, betting a small amount is by no means risk-free. That's a pure delusion. The risk is still there, only the amount is smaller, and you could still make 100 bets at the same time and lose it all.
Sorry, but the idea that 1% of your funds is somehow an optimal size bet, disregarding any other factors involved is pure laziness and it's simply nonsense.
Will you put the same amount on x1.05 as on x10.0? If you only had $10 left in your budget - would you be splitting it into $0.10, just for the sake of not losing "it all"?
Choosing an optimal bet size is much more nuanced than that, see the Kelly Criterion system for example.

I think this guy is just playing for fun. When you gamble for fun, you don't bother on how much your profit is... Moreover, odd like 1.05 shouldn't be part of his games. I think he will gamble most on accumulated bet with good odds.

Gambling portfolio" can be translated as "bankroll" here. Betting 1% of your bankroll doesn't sound like you are having fun only; it's a serious strategy that successful gamblers use. This is provided that you have a decent amount of bankroll; otherwise, this percentage is useless if you don't feel the thrill in gambling.
294  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling still pays regardless of our losses on: February 29, 2024, 01:30:26 AM
I enjoy gambling but much more if I win. Regardless, of whether I win or lose, I have no regrets because I choose to gamble and spend my money without thinking that I can go home with money.

I think we need to accept the fact that gambling should not be taken seriously. if we think this will be the solution to our financial problem, then this will even add more to that. We may not win any but I believe our experience is more than enough. If not, then we forget about gambling and do different things rather than choose gambling if we only get hurt when suffer losses.
295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin’s Soaring Heights and the Unpredictable Journey Ahead on: February 28, 2024, 09:46:41 PM
Bitcoin as an indicator? I didn't quiet get tha. Are you trying to say that when the price of Bitcoin increase you assume that price of other coins will also increase and vice versa, so you are linking Bitcoin's price movement to gauge if market is bullish or bearish but at the same time, that sometimes work only during the bull run not throughout the year and also other coins may provide better profit but cannot guarantee how long it may last as Altcoins may pump and dump, just take example of coins like coti, xvg on how soon it may drop down.
Maybe you miss to see how Bitcoin influences the market movement. Maybe it was not the sole metric to determine but it was bold to see that when the price of Bitcoin surges high, not all but most altcoins are also following the uptrend. But if you are talking shitcoins, never expect they will be doing the same, they are dead actually. But if you look into ETH and the rest of the leading altcoins, you will find out it behaves the same.

And this happens because people are not just investing in Bitcoin alone but also potential altcoins which brings demand high as well. Therefore, it is expected to see altcoin prices increase when seeing the price of Bitcoin pumps.
296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it too advanced to get into Bitcoin now? on: February 28, 2024, 09:06:19 PM
This is just like asking if one should go to school because of the increase in the amount  of school fees.
The value of Bitcoin is gaining and by virtue of it volatile nature it might come down at some point and still climb high but the fact that it had gone high doesn't mean that buying  Bitcoin at the moment is anytime late. if you don't accumulated today, chances are that when you've finally decided to go into start your accumulating journey the rice might have gone above what it currently his now and it wouldn't mean that it's still to advance to get started and that time it's just that you will need to probably hold a bit longer
We often hear people asking...
When is the perfect time to buy Bitcoin? I am late to invest in Bitcoin.

Well, several questions appear in our mind, especially for beginners but should make it simple and you are right, invest when we are ready and make a decision when we gain knowledge because there is nothing too late here but much better to acquire Bitcoin at a cheaper price. Buying now or buying later is not totally the same because if we have the guts to invest then better we have to do it right now before the price surges high.
297  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 28, 2024, 01:45:38 PM
The Pistons managed to get themselves another win tonight against the Chicago Bulls. I believe that puts them at 9 wins on the season now. Still not great, but they’ve seen some improvement over the last couple of months. Looks like they are about to get themselves into double digit win territory, which is impressive given their start.

Yes, the Pistons have been so bad in the first half of this season that some fans even believed that the Pistons' long losing streak could extend until the end of the regular season. Some of them even placed bets on it. However, now the Pistons are tied with the Wizards in the Eastern Conference standings, and I think they can win at least 5 more games before the end of the season.

They had a bad season, but they are making a comeback now and have improved a bit. It's a learning experience for them, and I'm sure next season they'll come back strong and won't be the worst team again, or second to the worst. The win against the Bulls was huge; they already know how to play it right in clutch times. So, I'm looking forward to more wins from this underdog in their succeeding games.  Smiley
298  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jason Moloney vs Reymart Gaballo WBO Bantamweight Title (May 12) on: February 28, 2024, 01:24:13 PM
No question that he is a great boxer but I don't see him being a special one. However, I believe that the quality of Moloney is not hard for him to beat, so I'm rooting for him.

I would agree with that. If I were to choose the top boxers in the Philippines based on the time I witnessed all their fights, this would be my ranking:

-Pacman
-Donaire
-Casimero

I think among the active boxers now, Casimero is the most dangerous fighter, but he has been unfortunate that his journey in boxing has turned sour. His enemy here is time; although he still has the talent, he is not getting the championship fight that he deserves.
299  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: February 28, 2024, 01:01:48 PM
Most people are afraid to enter the market to buy Bitcoin right now, especially since the price is as high as it is now. They will probably be out of the market for a while. However, those who are still doing DCA will continue to do it, and each person should have a target to stop doing DCA.
Because the lack of confidence leads some people to think "What if it dumps tomorrow?". Some people are still in the struggle to give trust and they remain doubtful and uncertain. We can't force them to believe when it is against their will.
Quote

People who have accumulated a lot of Bitcoin over the last year are just waiting for the right time to sell their Bitcoin. They can still invest more to increase the number of Bitcoins. And after that, it's time to wait for the next ATH. That means a higher Bitcoin price increase than the previous ATH.
Maybe they will but I'm not sure if some of these investors still manage to hold until now or if they sell it before it hits $50k.
Those who have strong mindsets will still hold and accumulate more but those who are easily affected by the FUDs and rumors, exactly they got in panic and sell their BTC at low prices. We never expect everyone to hold and wait for the new ATH because many investors are weak.
300  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rich or poor gambler, who should risk more? on: February 27, 2024, 09:53:23 PM
Gambling an activity for fun also has the chance to turn someone's fortune. Calculated risk when taken in gambling can be the way to big wins from gambling. Who do you think should take more risk in gambling? The rich gambler or the gambler who is not yet rich. If a rich gambler takes risks in gambling, they are risking losing money and becoming poor from gambling, or getting richer, when a gambler who is not yet rich gambles, they can also get poorer or richer, so the gambler who should take the risk should be the gambler who can handle the dangers of the risk like losing too. When a rich gambler loses from taking a risk, there is a better chance of them being in a position to manage with the losses, than someone struggling financially who a big loss will really affect. So, I am confused after asking myself this question and answering it, does this mean a poor gambler should continue to play it safe in gambling? With no risk, how can a poor gambler change their fortune in gambling?

I think that it is all a matter of percentage and financial relativity. If a poor man gambles even only 1% of his income, he might not be able to pay his bills. If a rich man does it, then he will still be just as rich as before. The problems only start to arise when either of those men develop a gambling problem. Once that happens, it is not so far to full-blown gambling addiction as well as losing all their money. In the end they will be just as poor as the other, with absolutely nothing in their pockets.
Whatever they did and how much they spent on gambling, they remain on their status as a poor person, and as rich person, nothing has changed. But is too unfortunate for these poor people because instead of using their money for investing or for their savings, they use it in the wrong way making their financial status at worst.

It is never gonna say that gambling is for rich people but also for poor people. However, they need to control their gambling habit and avoid addiction because this will even make them poorer. We can do gambling unless it won't compromise our finances which is what we should put in our mind.
