2841  Other / Meta / Re: Disadvantages of non detectable early Plagiarism on: November 24, 2021, 10:48:43 AM
I have caught plagiarism a few times, and at first I used google but at some point I started using free versions of plagiarism checker that you can find on the web. I don't know if there is much of a difference.
Google gives you raw result and you can only estimate the percent of plagiarism between original and plagiarized post.

With plagiarism checkers, you can have that percentage as well as highlight. Google can be the first step, if I don't find anything, I stop. If I find something, I will use plagiarism checker as the next step
2842  Other / Meta / Re: Encouraging existing bitcointalk users to being more users to this forum on: November 23, 2021, 12:41:26 AM
1) Organizing a contest of bringing referrals to the forum and giving monetary reward to people with most referrals.
The admins are quite offensive about referrals and the forum gives restricted areas to use referral links (Profile page, signature space). Additionally, the forum attracts so many bounty hunters already and they are toxic elements of the forum with full of spam from those low valued members.

It is not make sense if you attract more people to join here and they contribute very little with their posts or projects.

Quote
2) Another option is to give membership upgrades instead of monetary reward.
Merit system works very well so far and it marks good members with earned merits. You can check the leader boad of merit earners with BPIP.
This page includes airdropped merit too.

There was suggestion to create a new rank above Legendary but it is not approved by the head admins.
2843  Other / Meta / Re: Option to filter messages based on keywords on: November 23, 2021, 12:23:29 AM
You can customize your search with some options
  • Search in topic subjects only
  • Message age
  • Choose a board to search in or search all. I think this is what you asked

Some topics to search better and I think you can find something helpful
2844  Other / Meta / Re: Forum PM Privacy on: November 22, 2021, 01:36:35 PM
TLDR;

You can get full details officially there: https://bitcointalk.org/privacy.php

So the best practice is don't talk about things that can be used to dox you in PMs. For other PMs, you can delete them all after you finish the communication. As you can see from the privacy doc, there are different levels of destruction of PMs over time. That means you can not delete all things in the database after 1 click. It takes time.
2845  Other / Archival / Re: [LIST] Bitcoin Visualization on: November 22, 2021, 01:05:08 PM
I would like to vote for Johoe's Bitcoin Mempool Statistics.

It is a more advanced website to get mempool status than mempool.space which is more favorite by people who are bitcoin newbies.

I am not sure you intentionally exclude Johoe website or you did miss it.
2846  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading and it uncertainties on: November 22, 2021, 12:50:35 PM
80% of traders lose, 10% break-even and 10% win.

I don't go to details of the methodology of the research from which the article mentioned the statistics. You can connect it with the people you know as traders. I am sure the fact is somewhere around that, 80% of traders end with loss.

Crypto trading is more risky because no circuit breaks, no margin of price change and you can get rekted anytime, if you use leverages for your trading positions.

Not your keys, not your coins. [1]

So anyone who has access to the key or seed of your wallet, they can access your Bitcoin. They can be your loved ones, your relatives or hackers.

It brings to another reminder. You must to download wallet from an official website. Get link to download is not enough. Remember to verify your wallet as well.

For mobile applications, people might find those apps by searching in App store. It is risky because in bad case, you can find fake apps. The safe way is get app link on an official website.

2848  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Tax holding back bitcoin from going to the Moon on: November 22, 2021, 02:52:07 AM
Tax is a thing that you have to accept in real life. You can not live in a nation which has law, regulation and taxation and wish that you won't be taxed. Don't try to do it illegally.

It is fair enough if in other industries like traditional finance, manufactures, etc. everyone are taxed and you are taxed in the same as a crypto investor.

The problem would be whether the margin of taxation in crypto is the same as in stock or other traditional finance or lower or higher.

Sum up, I don't think taxation will be barriers for Bitcoin or crypto, never.
2849  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't buy your greed on: November 19, 2021, 06:07:35 AM
The Fear and Greed index is provided free. You can get it for Bitcoin or Ethereum that are the two largest cryptocurrencies right now.

Follow the index and follow the smart money. Control your emotion, fear and greed and make smart decisions.

Next, HODL, then you will be rich.

Just wondering why is this thread not attracting from potential gamers here?
If you find a true hidden gem, the earlier you join, the more benefit you can get.

Quote
As we have seen, a lot of P2E gaming platforms are attracting interest because of the possible good earnings that a player can get. The initial investment of around 0.2BNB may not be good for small players, but still cheaper than other popular P2E gaming platforms.
It is the initial investment if you mint a new Hero (and received an awarded free weapon to fight). If you pick discounted Heroes from weak hands in the marketplace, the initial cost would be much cheaper. Hence, you can get the break-even much sooner.

Additionally, we don't only have P2E, but also have PvP to come soon.

And with the integration of 3 popular networks, this will be an added interest.
We deployed to Polygon already and Avax soon.

The upcoming UI/UX. More to come, soon.

2854  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance vs Kucoin vs FTX... Which to go with (KYC non issue)? on: November 16, 2021, 10:32:34 AM
The real reason why  Sam of FTX decided to part ways with Binance partnership is because Binance don't to follow the law and just contented on dodging the law by changing there headquarters location regularly. I don't know about Kucoin but FTX is the one showing cooperation to the law and happily complying with it. I trust Sam and most of the project that they are working with like Serum and Solana.
It is part of reasons only.

Sam SBF and FTX decided to separate from Binance because they now would prefer to compete against Binance. They think their exchange are growing up and big enough to compete against top exchanges exclusively Binance.

I don't think the separation is simply because issues of Binance with law, regulations, etc. FTX on their side are very careful to meet regulations and do preventive activities against law suits. It is a good strategy to build up a trusted exchange without or with at least drama as possible.

My vote goes to FTX is also because they give very cheap withdrawal fee for users.
2855  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How trustworthy are coinbase and kraken? on: November 15, 2021, 03:09:34 PM
I think Coinbase and Kraken are good exchanges, but I left both Coinbase and Kraken a long time ago, so I can not suggest you use those exchanges. I suggest you use Binance, Hotbit, FTX, Bittrex, KuCoin (you can select only one if you want). I often use Binance and KuCoin but I do not use them for daily trading as I trade only if I think the market moves good. All of the exchanges I mention is allow you to withdraw big funds but of course, you need to verify your account. Bittrex needs a Passport to verify while the other exchanges can use your local identity.
I would prefer to use and suggest Binance, FTX and Kucoin. Amongst these three exchanges, I like the UI of Binance and Kucoin that are convenient to use.

I don't like the UI of FTX but if you are finding an exchanges with potential good growth, FTX is good and FTT is the FTX token that is cool for your investment too.

Hotbit was hacked months ago and even their security was improved, you must be careful a bit. Obviously, Binance was hacked years ago but no more in last two years. I mean we need more time to see how Hotbit security is improved and how secured it is now.

Bittrex has bad reputation because of their KYC policy and implementation years ago. This bad policy and implementation caused to their lost leading position to Binance.
2856  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why exchanges stop trade pumped tokens? on: November 15, 2021, 02:45:32 PM
Why, when a token pumped then exchanges stop trade that token? I checked the "Market" section of some of the tokens that listed in https://coinmarketcap.com/gainers-losers/ and most of them has "N/A" in the "Confidence" section. Why?
You can pay your attention on the marketcap, trading volume of those gainers and losers. Figures are mostly low and most of them are meme coins with so many zeroes in their price.

Those tokens are pump and dump and it's hard to say about value of those projects. It is unfair if I simply arbitrary say they are valueless but I believe most of them are valueless. Just hype, pump and dump games.

2859  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How trustworthy are coinbase and kraken? on: November 14, 2021, 02:22:13 AM
Check with coinmarketcap and coingecko, the two biggest marketcap websites
They are all the top of ranking tables and the Exchange score (on coinmarketcap) or Trust score (on Coingecko) are all good. It makes sense that they are trusted exchanges.

Important reminders
  • Not your keys, not your coins
  • So don't store all of your crypto capital on exchanges and it is very risky if you store it all in a single exchange.
