2841  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ShadowCash is mathematically broken. I urge all SDC supporters to join Monero. on: February 17, 2016, 06:13:29 AM
So on a scale of complete dumbass to blithering idiots, how badly did the SDC team fuck this up?

1. The bug itself was an error that any very amateur cryptographer could make (that would include me) if they were foolish enough to try to implement this without any sort of help or review from a competent cryptographer or mathematician (that would not include me). That still foolish, but perhaps understandable given limited resources and a mandate to implement the promised features anyway.

2. The "SDC Deanonymized? Nope" blog post was an epic and complete fail on the level of blithering idiots who are also complete dumbasses. That includes the claim of not being able to reproduce the flaw in 10 hours of trying. I'm not sure I believe they even tried, or which would be worse.

I like the creativity here. Aeon is fun

I .... Love ... This ... Coin!

Deleted one message for use of red, and two quoting replies to it, although the discussion was stupid anyway, so double deletion.

The SSD HDD and on-board controller failed within 48 hours of that v2 block experiment. Now, thanks to Monero it must forever use an external USB drive.

Interesting how not a single person other than john-connor has reported such a problem.

And that is your argument on why there is no such problem? Very factual.

There is no problem. john-conner doesn't understand how computers work.

Here are my laptop stats after a couple of days of ordinary use (no database, blockchain, or anything particularly disk-intensive)

Should I order a new SSD now or should I wait a few days for it to fail?

The stupidity of the VNL shills including the chief conner would be funny if it weren't so sad.

2847  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: February 16, 2016, 09:52:25 AM
The initial shares of S-HODL sold out almost immediately, and the initial funds have been fully invested. I will continue to offer more shares at market prices as long as there is demand for it.
2848  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: February 16, 2016, 09:39:15 AM
Introducing the HODL Fund

The HODL Fund is a new product of SIMC, which is also the manager of the Smooth Investment Fund (S-SIF), the CKG ETF (S-CKG), and the CON ETF (S-CON).

The purpose of the HODL fund is to provide a convenient long-term holding vehicle for players who wish to invest in the assets of the game itself, as represented by the Town entity. The fund will hold a balanced portfolio consisting primarily of S-CON and S-CKG. Other assets may also be used to further the goals of the fund. The fund may engage in a limited degree of leverage for liquidity purposes, but is not intended as a leveraged vehicle. All dividends will be reinvested, making this highly suitable for "buy and hold" investors including those using the FOC (Foreign Owned Corporation) feature.

The fund has no management fee. Since the majority of the assets in the fund are expected to be S-CON and S-CKG, the manager will benefit by increased capitalization and liquidity of those funds.

The fund may buy and sell its own shares in the market, in order to reinvest dividends, balance supply and demand, and/or otherwise help maximize return and maintain a close relationship between NAV and share price (for example, if the fund can buy its own shares cheaper than it can buy assets, it will do so).

The first 1000 shares are currently available on the Agora market, at an initial price of 100 000 m. Buyers of that initial offering and other early participants who trade the fund shares will qualify for the early adopter reward that also applies to the S-CON and S-CKG assets.

Questions? Please ask.

Happy trading.

EDIT: Initial block of shares are sold out, but more shares will be offered on the market according to demand

nonproven accusations,

There proof of the plagiarism (including copied bugs in what is allegedly new code) has been posted before, including by people that have nothing to do with any of these coins but see what is obvious instead of denying it.

Just as I said, nothing to see here except old, well known 'copyright FUD squad'
btw
I wasn't checking but I heard that Yocom-Piatt also said Decred is 'created from scratch'

john-conner did not write the original code unless he is a secret identify for several of the well known BTC devs such as sipa (fat chance), from whom he ripped it off, unlike the Company Zero folks who built decred using the btcsuite/btcd codebase, which they also built.

Nor is there even the slightest effort to obscure those origins:

Yet Another stupid deflection fail from the VNL shills
2850  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How about Vanilla coin on: February 16, 2016, 03:59:07 AM
please everyone stay on topic.

this is a conversation about VNL, and whether or not one should consider it as a legitimate project.

please try to keep shill, and FUD comments to a minimum.

I am so sick of ICEBREAKER john-connor and ray88

FTFY, since iCEBREAKER was not the one who tried to change the subject and talk about another coin.
2851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: February 16, 2016, 03:56:14 AM

Any guess for a timeline for a reduced database release of Aeon similar to Monero's latest release?  I would love to move some of my coins to a cold storage box, but I don't think I can run it currently.

If your goal is cold storage why would you want to run the daemon at all? You can just create an Aeon address by running simplewallet on an offline device (or live USB/live CD) and send to that address. Even a very old computer can run simplewallet.

Also, to all: Fluffyponyza said that MyMonero is open source, but I don't know how to copy it.  What would be a suitable bounty for someone to implement an Aeon version?  10,000 Aeon?  I know that's not much now - but this person would also make a lot in transaction fees over the next few years.

An online wallet might interest some people but the demand may not be great assuming smooth delivers on the CryptoNote GUI reasonably soon.

Transaction fees all go to the network. Are you referring to the 10XMR fee for importing existing wallets?

MyMonero adds a tiny extra transaction fee on outgoing transactions. I think it was 0.005 but I could be wrong.

I don't know about it being fully open source. I think the back end at least is unreleased and would need to be reimplemented or replaced unless fluffypony releases it. But maybe it was opened up at some point when I wasn't paying attention.

2853  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: February 16, 2016, 02:19:48 AM
What percentage of the Monero community do you think is also involved with Aeon?

Expressed that way I think its pretty small. Monero is much more widely known and popular. In the other direction (percentage of AEON supporters also involved with Monero) it is pretty high.

I'm just guessing though, not hard numbers to work with.

Draw your own conclusions. I find his credibility highly lacking, but decide for yourself.

Moreover, interesting how john-connor decided to try to change the subject.

I sure hope the exchange is not located there. If so, they better move to a secure location or have armed guards on duty.

The exchange is not located there. It is a law office that handles the corporate paperwork. Why is that so hard for people to understand, or are you deliberately trolling?

How the hell do you know? I have assets on Polo so ya ... I'm concerned.

Ultimately it comes down to if you are using an exchange which is unregulated or minimally regulated you are just trusting them. If you don't trust them, get your coins the hell out.

MtGox HQ was located in an office building in Tokyo which had building security. It didn't protect your coins at all.

Again, if you don't trust them (and for the most part you should not), pull your coins.

Either I am very good at this, or a whale is reading me or both!

And no, I am not behind this (not a whale anymore after my coins were stolen)...

Sorry to hear that.. Question: What are peoples opinions on how many XMR one would have to own to be considered a "whale"?

A good way to answer that is to consider how many true whales you think there can be. If you assume 1% then with 50% of the coin supply held by such whales there could be no more than 50 whales. Pick your own numbers.
2859  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Zcash? on: February 15, 2016, 08:54:22 PM
Is this more anonymous than XMR monereo and ring signatures?

Certainly yes, since it is (in theory assuming everything works properly) perfectly anonymous while Monero (or any mixing-like technique) has some degree of leakage. The practical effect of the difference is debatable, especially considering other issues such as computational overhead, complexity of the implementation, trusted setup, and immaturity of the underlying crypto.
2860  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Zcash? on: February 15, 2016, 08:31:32 AM

Anyone know the basic info such as:

- mining algo
- pools
- link to miner

The info on the live coin is not released yet afaik. There is only a testnet now.

Quote
- coin totals
- premines
- block reward structure
- block time
- PoW or PoS

I think it is stated that all of these are planned to mirror Bitcoin's structure (PoW, 10 min blocks, 21 million coins, halving days, etc.) except that 10% of the total supply is paid to the company launching it (structured as 20% of the block rewards for the first four years) and 1% is supposed to go to some kind of foundation.
