2841  Economy / Speculation / Big players attempting to drop price on: December 09, 2014, 01:40:39 PM
Massive sell walls set up just above the price.. Someone is about to make a lot of money shorting BTC.

Slowly buying and always holding with an item that cannot produce 21 million can only have one outcome.... this winter will be a very long one, weather the storm or get out now.
2842  Economy / Speculation / Re: permabulls not only lost the control over this section-in fact they are extinct on: December 08, 2014, 09:23:47 PM
Regarding paying with Bitcoin, merchant adoption etc., etc, let's look at reality.
Dell is the hobbyhorse that often gets trotted out when merchant adoption is brought up.  Let's check what actually happens & how instantaneous it is:

Quote
Paying with Bitcoin

Provided by Coinbase.
The option to complete your transaction in Bitcoin is provided by Coinbase. Dell does not guarantee and is not responsible for the availability of Coinbase’s services. To complete your transaction via Coinbase, you will be re-directed to Coinbase’s website, where you will see the total cost of your transaction in Bitcoin, based on an exchange rate set by Coinbase. The Bitcoin price for your transaction will remain valid for 10 minutes. If you do not initiate a payment during this time, the Bitcoin exchange rate will be updated and the Bitcoin price for your transaction may change.
...
Bitcoin transactions can’t be changed or canceled.
Due to the nature of the Bitcoin network, once you initiate a Bitcoin transaction you cannot change or cancel it; you may seek a refund pursuant to the refund processes described below.

Transactions verified by Bitcoin network.
Once a Bitcoin transaction is submitted to the Bitcoin network, it may take an hour or longer for the Bitcoin network to fully verify the transaction. A transaction is not complete until it is fully verified. Dell has no control over this timeframe imposed by the Bitcoin network.

Is this suppose to be a bear statment?  You mean they cannot call bitcoin and demand they steal the bitcoin from my account and put it into theirs because they feel what they bought did not meat their standards?!?!?!?!
2843  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: wallet security on: December 08, 2014, 06:28:51 PM
i have been reviewing different paper wallet tutorials and it is not that hard.
i will cover the paper wallets in plastic for extra security.

Make multiple copies.  With bitaddress.org you can encrypt them as well.  I have mine in different cities as well..

2845  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Has Anyone heard of this Miner? on: December 08, 2014, 04:09:36 PM
Its a scam, you already knew it is.

It is not scam, if you get what you see in pictures.
This is real device, but today totally worthless.
You only need to know that 3.0TH is not 3.0 Terahash Asic Miner.
This device is not to be sold on eBay for the first time.

How is that not a scam..
2846  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain not offering hosting anymore for S4 on: December 08, 2014, 04:06:54 PM
Bitmain is paying .35 cents a KW..... that is crazy... I pay .10 cents.. hosting, no thanks I get them shipped to me Cheesy.

At .35 cents/kw..  it is a money losing adventure.
2847  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S1 - Can not connect on: December 08, 2014, 04:02:55 PM
Wow, Almost 100 views and no one knows how to answer this question... Wow

Sounds like you bricked it(you are screwed), you also have a massive red review..

Everyone assumes you are just stirring shit up.  Sounds like you know that losing power during a firmware update is bad news(it is for any Fing device) and you are just trying to stir up some trouble.

YOU WILL NOT SEE A RETURN UNLESS YOUR POWER IS FREE.

IMO you should buy BTC and mine as a hobby.

2853  Other / Off-topic / Re: Doing a paper on bitcoin mining. Would you mind answering some questions? :) on: December 05, 2014, 09:22:00 PM
1) How long have you been working with bitcoin mining?
- 1 Year

2) How many units are involved in the workload of your bitcoin mining?
- Six

2a) What did these units cost to purchase?
- about $4k

2b) The unit that operating the mining rigg, how much did that unit cost (the one with the operating system installed)?
- Came with it, Four S1's  and S3's.

3) How much did you spend on electricity each month?
- A freaking lot LOL.  They have a "dispensing fee" that goes up the more you use.. the bastards.  Probably around $200 a month.. ya $200 LOL.

4) The local where you keep all your equipment, how much does that cost you per month?
- I keep them at home.

5) How many coins have you mined per month on an avarage?
- I have mind 5.5 BTC and 480 PPC and a bunch of XJO, not sure on average.

6) What have you used your coins for (exchange them, buy more units to your mining rigg, etc.)?
- Used some for S3's(Bought the 4 S1's used the coins mined to buy two S3's), and donations.. a lot of donating lol.

6a) Do you feel the market is big enough for purchasing stuff with bitcoins?
-There are a lot of place accpeting BTC you can buy a lot with it off of the web currently so yes.

IMO mining is only for a hobby now and so you can have a "vote" on where BTC is going.  I mine so I have a vote, IMO if you are a true bitcoiner you are mining to secure the network and help prevent centralization.   Even 10Ghash helps.

2854  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining newbie. What would you do if you did not pay for electricity? on: December 05, 2014, 09:10:39 PM

In case nobody mentioned it, you have to find a way cool those thousands of watts. If not your mom will notice when the glass of water on her nightstand starts to boil.

Open the window.. it's winter.  The winter air is the perfect cooling tool up here in Canada!!

Winter is very... seasonal

True, I have an AC unit to cool the room in the summer.  I use power like it's going out of style.. money to burn so i'm gonna burn it!! MUHAHAH.
