2261  Economy / Speculation / Re: Nasdaq is not going to use Bitcoin on: May 20, 2015, 08:20:32 PM
They want to take advantage of the fact Bitcoin is the MOST SECURE thing on the planet.

Not LTC, PPC, Shitcoinabzfdsaf9a,  Bitcoin is.

That insane hashing power provides insane security.. not even most bitcoiners understand what this means.  Hence why most don't mine or only mine for profit.

They are going to use BTC, they want the security it offers.  As said, coloured coins.
2262  Economy / Speculation / Re: I cannot believe the price does not move after NYSE news on: May 20, 2015, 08:18:52 PM
Only "bitcoiners" are left right now.

If you are going to gamble on BTC, right now is the time.  Weak hands are gone, it's zero or hero now baby.
2263  Economy / Speculation / Re: ~!~!~! Bitcoin Price Discussion !~!~!~ on: May 20, 2015, 08:17:23 PM
Honeybadgercoin does what it pleases.  That is the answer really.
2264  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoiners on: May 20, 2015, 08:11:21 PM
install android wallet.
do backup.

done, you can use bitcoin to receive and pay.

bitcoin is easy with a smartphone, now.

I've told him to do this 50x.. He has no interest in the workings of BTC. It is very odd to me that a large portion of someone's Networth is in something they don't know anything about.

That actually is my "daily" wallet.
2265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoiners on: May 20, 2015, 08:04:08 PM
Do any of you guys have friends that are heavy into BTC but have pretty much zero understanding or interest in understanding it.  It is super odd to me.

I have a friend with over 10k worth in BTC.. don't want to go into specifics.. Pretty sure he doesn't even know what a public/private key look like.

or store it in 65 different pen drives

+1

5 USB key
2 hard drive
and 1 regular email storage (no, it's not the cloud ...)

email is the cloud, since it is stored in a server that is not under your control and you need internet to access it.

And be be compromised, like the online wallets

If your passphrase has never touched the web.. I really doubt anyone is getting your stuff. A 15+ char pass using BIP38 is considered un breakable..   Take my encrypted private keys, good luck with them.
2267  Other / Off-topic / Re: How long til Bitcointalk.org reaches 1 Million Users on: May 20, 2015, 08:01:08 PM
Whoa.. 500k.. hum.. As just said I wonder how many are alt accounts.
2268  Economy / Services / Re: I'm BIP38 curious, please help me out! on: May 20, 2015, 07:02:45 PM
Okay, total Newbie question coming.... ready for it?... wait, wait, wait.... before i ask and ridicule myself, let me at least state that I had absolutely Zero knowledge of anything more difficult than very basic html until I started school recently for programming, so with that being said...

Where the hell do you go to even find the wallets so you can crack them?

That's what I don't get about offline wallets.... I get taking the btc offline for storage; I get sweeping/importing it back online.... but where is the hub, the port, the dock, the space station?!?!?!?

See, total Newb question...

I don't get the question of where is the port/hub/dock...?  What do you mean?

He created a wallet, I assume via bitaddress.org and encrypted it.
2269  Economy / Services / Re: I'm BIP38 curious, please help me out! on: May 20, 2015, 06:56:37 PM
People can't crack a 5 char pass and they thing they'll get into my 25+ char pass..  Funny.

This is a sweet idea non the less.. tempted to add a little more BTC to inspire more people.
2270  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Disaster recovery discussion. on: May 20, 2015, 06:05:33 PM
The only thing that helps are paper wallets, and what I mean to say with that is, you should create paper wallets with the purpose of putting those coins into cold storage... Just leave them as it is...

And the ones that you want to use, you can do using online wallets such as blockchain.info (always have the only amount in such wallets which you actually want on hands to be used and not the whole coins)...

This 10000%

I always do regular backups once every 10 transactions. Maybe I'm a paranoid? Well it's better to be safe than sorry after all. Also, having multiple copies of your wallet.dat and keeping them on hardware that isn't connected to the internet will probably help you in case you toast your HDD or your your storage where you use your bitcoin wallet. Lastly, paper wallets are great for keeping your balance and your wallet as a whole. Just store it safely without anyone knowing where you'd placed them.

Encrypt it and give out to all your friends...  Hack my 25+ char pass, good luck.

I'll try to do that. Smiley They would definitely find a way to crack the password to get the money in there. ^_^ Also, it is a good way for them to know bitcoins because they will surely research on that matter.

How in the hell would they crack it when even the NSA can't crack a +15 char BIP38...

As for recovering the HD... most computer stores can do it but you better not have anything Illegal on it you'll find the police will be there when you show up for your HD.

Why do you only have 1 copy of your BTC...

Why do you have 5 copies all with in 3km of each other?

YOu should have like 20 copies all over the place..  This is what I have done.. I am like Voldemort with the horcruxes.
2274  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Amagi Metals - Best Prices of Gold, Silver, & Platinum for Bitcoins on: May 20, 2015, 12:55:39 PM

The rapidly chaging nature of the PM market...............

It sucks to get them late but I don't understand what financial problems this is causing you.

Time is money.

Have a look at their FAQ Shipping page that clearly states 3-5 days after an order is placed and payment has cleared then it will be shipped. It also states that if this isn't the case, it will be rightfully labelled so.

It doesn't "suck" getting them late, it's clearly the fact that customers may feel deceived after realizing they are not forthcoming with their commitments as described. It would be completely different if things were labelled appropriately, but they are not. This is not a proper way to conduct business in my opinion.

We've seen situations like this in the past within this community, it's actually a common thing. It is more than justified to ask for transparency in a company who is handling your funds and service, they should strive for excellence if they expect to make a living from you.

As for you spazzdla, if you like being dicked around, that's your prerogative.

No.
2275  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are you ready for the ride? on: May 19, 2015, 09:35:27 PM
Great news, but not something that will trigger a small rally. More than a year ago we would have seen a 10% peak with this news.

When the rally comes it will be to late to board the train Smiley.

Perhaps this is the "it's coming" signal.

I would refuse to take his private keys.  What if you lose them.. what if someone steals them?  Nope would not do it.
2278  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Amagi Metals - Best Prices of Gold, Silver, & Platinum for Bitcoins on: May 19, 2015, 06:36:39 PM
Can Amagi comment on the recent delay of orders that seems to be occurring?

Myself and a few others have ordered recently from you guys and have been witnessing rather long delays in processing of our orders. It doesn't seem to be with any certain product or metal, but rather a store wide shortage. Items that are quoted as "in stock" have been taking weeks to fulfill and ship.

Due to the rapidly changing nature of Bitcoin and the precious metals market this can create quite an upset for the customer who is ordering. We place our orders with the expectation of regular shipping times but are yet left with delays and uncertainty.

There should be a more accurate representation of shipping times described on the website along side each item. I believe this would help to alleviate confusion and reduce the amount of support requests submitted.

Any insight upon this issue would be helpful and also clear the air around the lengthy delay in order processing as of lately.

The rapidly chaging nature of the PM market...............

It sucks to get them late but I don't understand what financial problems this is causing you.
