would be interesting to see this working, i think thats similar to a bank then?

Yes it would be.
1842  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If someone could make a wallet that does offline transactions... on: July 15, 2015, 01:21:05 PM
for 12 hours then posts them all onto the blockchain... THAT'd be great.

How do you profit?

Charge x amount per offline transaction, then when 12 hours is up put a fee to process all the transactions at less than what you have collected from your transaction cost, boom, you know you'll get your tx send within 12 hours and the "company" profits from it.

What do you mean by offline transaction , do you mean without internet ? I don't think that's possible .
If you are speaking about Off-chain transactions then those projects are already being working on them to make bitcoin more annonymus like Zerocoin & Darkwallet which need funding for the moment AFAIK .

Zerocoin / Zerocash : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=362468.10
Darkwallet project : https://www.darkwallet.is/

I mean off chain.

1844  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Controversial Backpage.com Warmly Welcomes Bitcoin on: July 15, 2015, 01:08:35 PM
Backpage is much smaller than Craigslist.. it only receives about 3 million views daily....

The point you are making is valid, and also something I was worried about. Do we provide the alternative, when other companies withdraw their support based on ethical reasons?

Backpage has had some problems with it's association with Child / human trafficking. They have included links under their ToS to organizations who fights that battle.

Now VISA and MasterCard pull their support, and we ride in with the white horse to save them?

I know there are loads of other legitimate business running on the same site, and it's our duty to support them... but how would you know, if you are supporting one of them?

We already have a bad reputation {Silkroad} ... Do we need more bad press?

I think it's good press, but that's the great thing about bitcoin,

It doesn't give a single flying fuck what you or I "think" it "should only be used for" not one single fuck was given.
1845  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Controversial Backpage.com Warmly Welcomes Bitcoin on: July 15, 2015, 01:07:02 PM
the question is, can they maintain the same profit with bitcoin only, as accepted payment in comparison with their old visa mastercard?

if this prove to be true than bitcoin will be adopted more from other company that are looking for a real alternative otherwise you can't really talk about a successful

Indeed, if they can keep up the same profits... oh ya
1846  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transaction Times SUCK on: July 15, 2015, 01:03:09 PM
How can BTC handle any kind of real world traffic EVER?

Large blocks and off chain transactions.
1847  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 9 million USD per month is looking for ways to jump into Bitcoin on: July 14, 2015, 08:28:43 PM
Backpage aint stupid, see that "how do I buy",

Backpage is not stupid.

Yup... having that link is important to every merchant accepting bitcoin.

Agreed, a very wise move.
1848  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 9 million USD per month is looking for ways to jump into Bitcoin on: July 14, 2015, 03:30:38 PM
keep in mind this is 9M a MONTH, that's over 100M a year.

1849  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 9 million USD per month is looking for ways to jump into Bitcoin on: July 14, 2015, 03:28:55 PM
Lmao, it won't help the price, I remember microsoft accepted bitcoin, bitcoin had 10% rise rally, and after that news, bitcoin was dumped to lowest 150 USD, so any good news can't help, unless big whales are buying buying and buying.

Btc has been bearish for a long time, it is fluctuating for several months, IMO bitcoin will have a big rise when it halves the block reward, or any good news can't help bitcoin rise significantly.

This guy jus does not get it on single bit.  Sorry bro... comparing microsoft to this.... makes zero sense.

You can still buy microsoft stuff with visa, you CANNOT buy ad space anymore on the adult section of backpage with visa, the only opition is crypto.

I don't know of any other busniess that ONLY accepts bitcoin.. this is a first.
1850  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 9 million USD per month is looking for ways to jump into Bitcoin on: July 14, 2015, 03:24:11 PM
Backpage could lose a lot of business. I'm sure that a lot of those $9 million come from credit card payments for their services.

I think you are right. But it seems Backpage doesn't have a choice. They need to find a way for their payment processes. It will surely be a big hit for them but surely better than giving up.

Do you think these chicks are going to go work on the street or learn about BTC?  The pigs LOVE to push their unjust power on people.. they will not want to return to that kind of oppression IMO.
1851  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It truely begins on: July 14, 2015, 03:20:34 PM
I would love to get paid in bitcoin. This way I wouldn't be tracked by shady individuals, who run corrupted banks and whatnot... It would be so easy for me.

Alas... if you were paid in BTC the pigs in your country would demand that your company tell them which public address you were paid too.  The idea of America's freedom is over 100 years dead.
1852  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is at a turning point, evolving much more quickly than some observers re on: July 14, 2015, 03:09:08 PM
NOW it can help the greeks.. but will they be smart enough to move wealth into or keep it in their doomed to fail banks.
1853  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It truely begins on: July 14, 2015, 03:06:34 PM

I agree. One of the biggest selling points of bitcoin is that it's free of this sort of censorship from banks or credit card companies and they only shoot themselves in the foot when they do this sort of thing and it spreads adoption to bitcoin in the process. Hopefully more companies will get involved whether they're censored or whether they're just sick of paying extortionate fees to payment processors and credit card companies.

The problem is that unless you get paid in cash, you still need banks to gain acces to bitcoin.

I think it is a brave but wise move from back page. It will also greatly increase bitcoin users if they need to pay them in bitcoin for the ads.

I competely agree we need a way for people to buy BTC with out having to touch the pigs that run the banks.
1854  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It truely begins on: July 14, 2015, 03:05:17 PM
I dont see this as being good news, we all know that backpage is mainly used for prostitutes, yes i have no problem with bitcoins and prostitutes, I do have a problem with the fact that backpage is known for having under aged prostitutes listed, if anything happens and bitcoin was used, it would further taint the bad reputation we have

This is a very large service/company that now only accetps BTC.. this is the best news in ages.

IMO the idea that bitcoin is bad because it is used for bad things is completely countered via the USD is more widly used and accepted for those things and worse.  Most people understand that now.

1855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if people stop running nodes ? on: July 14, 2015, 02:17:09 PM
I'am not sure what "protecting" network means when we run nodes . but what if people stop running nodes what exactly going to happen ?
Shouldn't we be worried about this ? Blockchain size is getting bigger and bigger and people will get bored with time and most likely switch to other wallets , how that will affect to Bitcoin and what can we do about it ?

There will be no blockchain thus not bitcoin.

Bitcoins networks security blows any other and all other cryptos combinded out of the universe not just the water.
