2221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone else selling their bags yet? on: May 28, 2015, 02:42:09 PM
If you haven't notice, over the past week or so. Some the old/newish altcoins are being pumped. Anyone else selling their baggage? I'm just tired of holding worthless tokens and chips.

Another newbie account demanding we sell our "bags"... very interesting.

-snip-
I don't understand how to do the siging of transactions from an offline wallet. I just assume one I've importated the paper wallet it is I consider that wallet hacked and no longer safe.  I know it requires me to make a bunch of different wallets on an offline computer but.. I like being as safe as I can be.  I was running the BTC core on an offline computer and doing it that way for a bit but I really like the bitaddress paper wallet layout and use, hence my curiousity for how safe it is.

Assuming you have two PC, download coinb.in and save it in offline computer. Using online computer, go to https://coinb.in/#newTransaction and enter your Bitcoin address(never enter your private key there). After completing the process, you will get an unsigned raw transaction. You can copy-paste that into offline computer or transfer using Qr code+webcam. Then sign it with coinb.in and then transfer signed transaction to online computer and broadcast it using Blockchain.info/pushtx.

HUmmms!! Sweet thanks, I will trythis.

Amercia must stick it's nose in EVERYTHING.. yes he would be.
2224  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitaddress.org on: May 28, 2015, 01:15:32 PM
Copied the site to a CD, ran it on a harddrive that has never / will never touch the internet.
Created a few wallets, encrypted with BIP38.
Passwords have been written down.

How do you decrypt the private key when you need to import it? Use the offline copy of the site?

This looks to be a safe method of generating a paper wallet. I am using electrum and the seed is 12 English words. I think it is more user friendly that way.

I decrypt it on the offline computer first to ensure the passphrase IS correct..

Then, I do import on an online wallet but instantly send the BTC I want to keep safe to a different wallet I have created in this fasion.  Usually I use the android phone bitcoin app to bring my BTC onto an online wallet.

If I was going to import a large value of BTC I would probably import it via the bitcoin core on a harddrive that has just had a fresh install of windows. I know windows isn't the best but.. I figure there is a very small time frame for my stuff to get taken.

Bitaddress.org is really secure imo.
As long as you disconnect from the internet when you create your randomness & then generate the wallet is should be fine.
Use a cheap, shitty printer that doesn't have internet capabilities.
I'd split up your stash into smaller amounts on different paper wallets too.
Use BIP38 encryption too.
Write your passwords on the paper wallet too, laminate it & hide it somewhere safe.
Maybe print 2 copies.

I did something like this.

Copied the site to a CD, ran it on a harddrive that has never / will never touch the internet.
Created a few wallets, encrypted with BIP38.
Passwords have been written down.

I printed the wallets to a PDF file and burnt it to CDs .. lots of them.. Then copied the wallet from the CD to my actual computer, copied the PDF to many USB's.. I also put the PDF on my work network LOL.

Wondering if there is an issue putting the PDF onto my e-mail.  It is encrypted soooo.. am I good to do that.

It's encrypted so you should be absolutely fine.
One thing though & it's probably a tiny chance of getting compromised but don't use the same email as you used to sign upto this forum.
It's encrypted so I'm 99.999999999% sure it'd be fine but just for peace of mind don't use the email you use here to store the PDF, too many elite scammers/hackers here.

Sounds like a plan, I haven't moved it to an e-mail yet.  I'll move it to one not tied to this one in any way.
2226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most undervalued coin? on: May 27, 2015, 07:28:07 PM
Feathercoin.

This was crossing my mind as well...  At one point known as the "copper" of they cryptos...

I am tempted to get a bit more FTC actually.

I also really like Primecoin as the mining is doing something besides just securing the coin which is pretty neat.
2227  Other / Off-topic / Re: Possible global coastal event on May 28, 2015 on: May 27, 2015, 07:19:22 PM
It is probably a good idea to move somewhere else for a day or two, just in case.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uVI8cQ3Hpo

Venus and Mercury lined up together couldn't affect the earth's oceans in any significant way.

There is a chance you could be hit by a meteor you know - it could be a good idea to wear a helmet all the time, just in case.   Wink

Wearing a helmet won't save you from meteor, if it reaches you it will kill you but not staying around Sant Andreas fault line at mentioned date might actualy save your life. As for the planets, you are definitely clueless and underestimate their effect on everything.

Ya.. their gravity doesn't do anything to earth.

2229  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / If one was going to initate a massive BTC pump they would buy up a bunch of alts on: May 27, 2015, 06:50:38 PM
If one has the cash and a plan to do a massive BTC pump they would make a KILLING owning several big alt coins just before it went down..
Just speculating.. a lot of medium / old giant alt coins are jumping in value..  A small "pump" or a large buy up due to a known future..?
2230  Economy / Service Discussion / Bitaddress.org on: May 27, 2015, 01:16:46 PM
Would you trust that encryption to protect your coins?  Basically if you had 1000 BTC on the paper wallet and a +20 char passphrase should one be confident that crackin your actual private key is not possible?
2231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ross Ulbricht Jailtime Poll on: May 26, 2015, 08:11:58 PM
Do you think or do you think he deserves? Since the first question doesn't really make sense here; that would be a question to law school students, not bitcoin enthusiasts. How would we know without a good knowledge of law?

So I'm going to answer the second;

Honestly I think 20 years is enough for this type of a crime. However, to discourage future criminals, I think a higher sentence is okay too.

He shouldn't spend a second in jail...  The law is so criminal when looking at the constitution...  it is sickening.

These people should rot in hell for their crimes against humanity.. Perhaps one day these pigs will see true justice.
2233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How can I trust an altcoin when... on: May 26, 2015, 08:02:08 PM
Joulecoin is legit.

Quite small, uses SHA-256 so you can use a bitcoin miner to mine it.  Won't cost much to get coins.
2234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.8 Required Update on: May 26, 2015, 07:59:00 PM
Doge has been on a steady march upwards..

I must say I do REALLY like doge.  Very cheap to send.. the minimum block payout ensures it can always be very very cheap to send.  Miners will continue mining forever as they get rewards thus keeping the network secure..  The doge community has done many good things.

Dogecoin is awesome sauce.
2235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could bitcoin recover from another 90bn coins hack? on: May 26, 2015, 07:55:56 PM
Bitcoin has never been hacked.

Would I trust all my BTC to someone else? GOD NO.  That is how you get goxed.
2236  Economy / Speculation / The problem with bagholders... on: May 26, 2015, 07:50:49 PM
Is when there are too many of them the price doesn't drop past a certian point.
2237  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Big Picture on: May 26, 2015, 07:48:43 PM
people here don't have patience. they want profit, and they want it quick. i'm not really a fan of looking at charts and say it will go up or down. i only look at the facts. fact is that short term doesn't look bright, sub $200 is not far away.

I would disagree with patience.. the only one left here are "stronghands" "bagholders" and Fallin ... time will tell which term is correct.
2238  Economy / Speculation / Re: End of the Bear Trend on: May 26, 2015, 07:47:12 PM
"All feels a little omminous to me. Can there be a new lower bottom ? Or can price bust through long term resistance ? Or are we going to watch it stagnate keeping bulls and bears unsatified?"

End of the Bear Trend? Anyone?

*cheeky poke* Cheesy Grin Wink

BTC went from $100 to $1200 in a month..  Non of these trend guru's saw it coming or they'd be retired.

Odds are it will move up or down with intense velocity as it has done many times in the past decimate all trend guru's predictions.
