2921  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crypto prices crash as threat of war looms on: February 24, 2022, 03:59:37 AM
Yes the markets are very nuts right now. Crude just hit $100, Gold is rising. And stock indices are all heading lower including Bitcoin and other cryptos.

Keep in mind that we all knew this was a possibility, so why the massive panic all of a sudden. I predict a huge crash tomorrow and the days after a slow grind down before a bottom. I think we are all massively over sold and this is temporarily.
2922  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin Crash in The Next 2 Weeks? on: February 22, 2022, 02:39:58 AM
Normally when you read about stuff like this on the news. It’s meant to shake out most people and sell at a loss. Same with all this talk about a war. Creates lots of tension and people get nervous and sell.

However if you look at past wars and conflicts, usually the start of the war was the bottom of the dip in the stock markets. Generally, it doesn’t make sense but wars are bullish for stocks. And will be for crypto.

So don’t take those comments too seriously.
2923  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin likely won't recover until 2025 on: February 22, 2022, 02:35:42 AM
Yeah so he says that now after crypto already lost 50% of its price. Where was he back in November when people were questioning is it going to top at $100K or $250K?

Same with many stocks. They are down 80% from their peak, however last summer when Peleton or Zoom peaked nobody assumed it was the top, they just assumed they would go up forever. And now everything thinks a bear market will start, it already started months ago. A bottom might be around the corner.
2924  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Words of advice on: February 22, 2022, 02:31:22 AM
Most people who are members of bitcointalk already know this. However the general public has no idea. Basically crypto was out for over 10 years and yet people  are still getting their funds stolen.

Even people who buy a hardware wallet, they end up just giving their seed to someone else. Or people who still use text messages as 2fa. Or people who sell their bitcoins for some scam NFT or scam alt coin.

It happens everyday because before you get into crypto you need to look into security first. However most people care about the profits first and security later.
2925  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Arbitrage Opportunities' on: February 22, 2022, 02:25:07 AM
It’s seem like every month someone on here makes a thread about arbitrage trading because I remember frequently commenting on it.

Arbitrage would be great because it’s risk free however you need to be able to program some bots to do the trading for you. You can’t do it manually. You need a bot that will watch certain pairs and compare the prices and if there is an opportunity then execute the trade. This is done in less then a second. You can’t do it manually.
2926  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: LHR to Full hashrate incoming soon allegedly 02/26/2022 on: February 22, 2022, 02:21:03 AM
This is definitely a scam however in my opinion I think Nvidia should be able to release an unlock for this cap when the time is right.

The point of LHR was so gamers would be able to get their hands on GPUs during all these shortages. Eventually the shortages will come to an end and cards will be affordable again, and when that happens Nvidia should unlock all these cards. Most likely it’s possible with a firmware.
2927  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A thing worst than "don't trade with your emotion" a trader should avoid on: February 21, 2022, 04:18:54 AM
Yeah it’s funny because none of those YouTube stars do any actually trading. Why trade and lose all your money when you can simply make a video in hindsight about what will happen tomorrow for cryptos.

Those are some of the worst click bait thumbnails I have seen and seems many are copying each other. And they get big revenue from YouTube for doing practically nothing. They got no production budget or anything. Just make a quick video, show some charts and you get profit.
2928  Economy / Speculation / Re: ukraine battlefield bear market on: February 21, 2022, 04:15:32 AM
It’s common sense that if there are reports of a war that the markets will tank. Depending on the severity it might bottom out the following days. However most people are already pricing this in. And there won’t be a war.

This is all just political. Stir the markets and get a few weak hands to sell. Even if there is a war it’s most likely going to be pretty short and nothing of WW3 which is what some are speculating.
2929  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin's price once goes into consolidation in a critical area where speculator on: February 21, 2022, 04:12:36 AM
I was reading this and then I heard Schiff and knew it would be nonsense. That guy is basically losing his mind for the past few years in my opinion.

Remember when Warren Buffet said that Bitcoin is rat poison, he said it once and went on with his life. Not like Schiff who waits until there is a -10% day and goes on a rank on twitter.

Seems the guy has nothing better to do with his time.
2930  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is There a Bitcoin Supercycle? Is this the end of 80% drawdowns? on: February 21, 2022, 04:09:13 AM
I don’t think we will have a 85% drop from ATH, maybe for other coins like ETH but not BTC. I know many want to load up when it hits 85% from ATH however there is a good chance it will never happen.

I think that this quarter we might possibility go to $25K and that will be it. If $33K wasn’t the low then most likely everybody will want to buy at $28-30K. So what will happen is there will be a big bull trap there and then it’ll drop fast to like $25K and be a big bear trap and mark the lows.
2931  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Warranty seals Gigabyte on: February 21, 2022, 04:02:40 AM
I think the reason why they put warranty seals on GPUs is because many gamers want to swap the thermal paste for something for efficient. And the issue here is that depending how old is the GPU, usually the thermal paste can be completely solid and you need to give it a yank to loosen it.

Then what happens is the solder cracks on the GPU chip and eventually the card will be dead within a few weeks or months with enough heat cycles. This is probably the most common reason why they use those seals.
2932  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How good is crypto mining for a newbie on: February 21, 2022, 03:58:54 AM
It’s hard to follow but I am assuming you have access to solar power and want to mine. If yes then you can mine with GPUs or ASICs. However keep in mind you will need a reliable internet connection to do so.

If you are good with computers you can buy GPUs and build a open air mining rig. Search YouTube there are tons of videos. Only issue is the GPUs are expensive now even second hand.

Or you can buy ASICs which are easier to set up and they are a good intro to how mining works. But you might get issues finding decent ones. But a lot of the old ASICs which are inefficient are very cheap these days.
2933  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The fear of building new rig on: February 21, 2022, 03:53:02 AM
Yeah I had this same fear in 2016 because in June 2016 they were suppose to transition to POS. Missed out buying GPUs on the cheap and regretted it. Since it’s almost 6 years and they are still on POW.

Your bigger worry now should be the high difficulty and borderline bear market territory that we might enter. Seems like the bubble about to burst on many global markets due to inflation and fed rate fears and cryptos might follow.
2934  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Kraken CEO give a heads up to carefully use CEX on: February 20, 2022, 04:23:10 AM
I think unless you donated funds or received funds for the truckers convoy then you shouldn’t worry. There was some Bitcoin addresses where they were accepting donations. I think one guy donated like 5BTC and the address was public and everything. They got tainted and now flagged.

So if it’s sent to an exchange like Kraken they can freeze the person who received it. In Canada they are not treating this as a protest but instead terrorism. It’s gotten pretty bad lately. Even news crews don’t feel safe.
2935  Economy / Economics / Re: People over 65 having most of wealth in US on: February 20, 2022, 04:18:50 AM
I am not surprised by this. Boomers have very big retirement portfolios, many in the 7 figures. And most boomers have houses which are paid off which they bought for maybe 5% of what it’s worth now.

Now take some new grad. Tons of debt. Job doesn’t pay much due to no experience. Has loans and most likely can’t get a mortgage because doesn’t have down payment.
2936  Economy / Speculation / Re: ukraine battlefield bear market on: February 20, 2022, 04:15:22 AM
Yes this is one of the reasons but Not only reason why Bitcoin is down. You need to understand most global markets are connected in one way or another.

Generally when stock market goes up, usually cryptos follow and same is true for vice versa. Lately there has been lots of bad news such as Omnicron variant, fed easing tapering, fed raising rates, bad earnings and latest is the Russian conflict.

So this is why it’s correlated to the stock market and how the stock market affects negatively due to WW3 rumors.
2937  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is your expectation on: February 20, 2022, 03:14:17 AM
News like this generally doesn’t cause rallies anymore. We know Bitcoin is accepted and praised by many nations. So this is why with all this positive news, Bitcoin still went down.

I think depending on how the stock market performs next week, we might see Bitcoin do a huge move. Either by breaking the top pivot at $45K or going back to the mid $35Ks. Right now we are just ranging and not much is happening.
2938  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Trying to take loan for mining build on: February 20, 2022, 03:11:09 AM
I know it’s temping to load up on GPUs when you are making good profits. However in the past I met many people who got themselves in a hole by doing so.

Generally they bought most of their gear with a credit card and interest is crazy high at 20%. Then the markets took a shift and they were pretty much mining at break even. And those 20% interest hurt every month. So they were forced to liquidate their farm to pay off their debts. Not smart.
2939  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Buying used Miners on: February 19, 2022, 03:04:48 AM
Waste of time if you dont have a good place away from any house.

If your place is tiny dont mix gpu with asics.

Mixing GPUs with ASIC doesn’t affect anything. Many years ago most retail miners had tons of ASICs at their home and they also had GPUs.

ASICs also take up much less room than a GPU rig. The biggest difference is that the ASICs are crazy loud. So you can mine at home but the rigs need to be in a separate room such as a basement. You can’t sleep in that room.
2940  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining fail-safes? rather be proactive than reactive on: February 19, 2022, 03:00:51 AM
Riserless motherboards are good because they remove the worry of having the sata cable melt down, this is the most common item that usually melts for most miners. So it’s not a bad idea.

You still got the risk of the GPU themselves having some fault such as a shorted capacitor which goes up in smokes, however this is more rare and usually the PSU detects the short and shuts down.
