3184  Other / Meta / Re: BitCoinTalk hidden pages on: April 11, 2015, 07:09:17 AM
That's actually not a hidden page. Its just a way of filtering unread replies., and this is most probably very uneasy to use because you will have to remember the code of the boards you want to filter out. So it doesn't belong to this list.

It is in a sense hidden "page". When you filter it, you will see a page which is hidden. I think features like this belongs here. However, if not, OP can add "hidden features" in subject.

If you forgot a board's ID, you can check it easily but most people will remember ID of boards they visit. In almost all browsers, you can type board's name, for example, Meta, it will show you the link and you can see the ID. This doesn't work if you clear browser history and if you browse this forum only through incognito/private window.

3186  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need to know more about cold storage on: April 11, 2015, 06:43:07 AM
See above, How to transfer BTC to an offline wallet which is never connected to internet (here don't bother about hard wallets). If yes, then this transaction is off-chain transaction right?

~Rude Boy

See redsn0w's answer first.

You misunderstood what is "off-chain" transaction.

Off-chain transactions are transactions which isn't stored in "Blockchain". When you do an off-chain transaction, the Bitcoins aren't "really" being moved. You are only getting a confirmation receipt from the company. Off-chain transactions are generally bad and it contradicts some of Bitcoin rules:

• You need to trust the company or person who handle off-chain transaction.
• Off-chain transactions are reversible.
• Off-chain transactions promote & focus on centralization.
• Off-chain transactions don't have public proof(aka ledger).

There maybe more but I think this is more than enough.

If you didn't understand redsn0w's correctly, here is an answer from Stackexchange.

Quote
The "blockchain" is a constantly growing database of transaction information which is sent out to all nodes in the Bitcoin network. When you perform a transaction, that transaction is distributed to the network and assuming the transaction is valid, will be included in the next "block." This is where the coins themselves are stored. When you initiate a transaction, all previous transactions to or from that address are scanned and a balance is calculated. If your transaction exceeds this available balance, it will be rejected by the network and will not be included in a block.

It's also important to note that the blockchain technically doesn't store "coins" it stores transaction information. The coins themselves are not discrete things which need storage - when coins are mined the miner's balance is credited via a "generate" transaction which adds to his or her available balance. When coins are sent from A to B, that transaction subtracts from A's balance and adds to B's balance. This is similar to the way that your employer may, via EFT, send "money" to your bank and you can use your debit card to spend that "money" in a store, all without anyone ever seeing a discrete physical dollar bill. Most money in the world today exists merely as transaction histories and balances - Bitcoin is no exception.

Edit: Added few words.
3187  Other / Meta / Re: Who uses a custom trust depth? on: April 11, 2015, 06:23:59 AM
Why use a different depth? This would add/remove too many people/ I simply use a modified level 2 trust list. With default trust in but with few additions and removals. I think that this is what everyone should do.

There are many reasons for it. Besides, you should only add people whose judgements you trust. So you shouldn't care how many are/were added/removed.

See my post, fifth post in this thread for knowing why I use depth 1 - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1019798.msg11044739#msg11044739.
3188  Economy / Services / Re: Challenge you have to crack a password only digits 0-9 reward 0.05 BTC on: April 11, 2015, 06:19:49 AM
if its a zip file then password cracking can be done with brute force tool
search google for zip file brute force password cracker and you will find a tool to crack the password

I have trie some. To download some or to use, we need to fill a survey which is near to impossible.

Even the zip cracker which can be downloaded doesn't work like we think. Better not to waste time going for it.
3189  Economy / Services / Re: Challenge you have to crack a password only digits 0-9 reward 0.05 BTC on: April 11, 2015, 06:04:34 AM
Well, that means its 3^9 = 19,683 tries.. shouldnt be too hard; I could do this in autoit and have it manually but .. does anyone have an idea on how to use python for this?

You can use Hashcat but it is codes mainly in C and some functions in C++.

3191  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do islam hates people? on: April 11, 2015, 05:46:45 AM
You've claimed that the USA starved to death or killed something like 1.7 million German soldiers in some kind of camps.  The absurd claim is yours to prove.  That's half of the German military fatalities.

You have massive inventory of facts on the Internet about WWII, and many students of history.  You make the fantastic claim that somehow, 1.7M soldiers could be killed "in secret."  I don't buy that.  It's not that easy to keep secrets.

Now how exactly would such a thing be done?  It would have to be in places OTHER THAN those my grandfather was at when he was in charge of holding German soldiers after they surrendered.  Somewhere that he had not ever heard about.  You see it would have to even be kept secret from many who were in charge of guarding the German prisoners.

More importantly, the charges make zero sense.  Why would anyone want to do such a thing?  For what gain?  Large numbers of German prisoners of war were brought to the USA during the war to work in farming and manufacturing.  Because we needed workers - just about all the men were overseas.  After the war, with the exception of (1) the rocket engineers and scientists (2) those held for possible war crimes like the SS - prisoners of war were simply let go.  Who cared about them?  You see they were no longer soldiers.  They went back and started their lives over.

You see, when a war is over, when the conflict is ended, people go back to  living regular lives as best they can.

http://www.world-war-2.info

May I ask you the same thing? What did Nazis' gained by killing Jews? A big "zero". They hated Jews as a race. Just like that, it is possible that Dwight D. Eisenhower hated Germans as a race.

There are no longer any surviving records showing which German POWs and Disarmed Enemy Forces were in U.S. custody prior to roughly September 1945. The early standard operating procedure for handling POWs and Disarmed Enemy Forces was to send a copy of the POW form to the Central Registry of War Criminals and Security Suspects (CROWCASS). However, this practice was apparently stopped as impractical, and all copies of the POW forms, roughly eight million, were destroyed. By way of contrast, the Soviet archives contain dossiers for every German POW they held, averaging around 15 pages for each.

Roll Eyes Huh

3192  Other / New forum software / Re: Forum App for mobile? on: April 11, 2015, 05:08:57 AM
Downloaded, but can't figure out how to add Bitcointalk to the App, I searched Bitcointalk but got no results, besides, It doesn't look like a fourm app.

Well, they say it is built for following many forums using mobile. I guess apps like these optimizes and it obviously will break the layout. I still think browser is better than these.

App for iOS or android?
It will be the second best news for me after the avatar news. Smiley It's that possible?
well u should check on playstore because i clearly remember that i have used 2-3bitcointalk apps on my android...yes it is avilable

There are 2 Unofficial Bitcointalk Android apps in Play Store:

• Bitcointalk.org App - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.elbandi.forum.bitcointalk&hl=en
• Bitcointalk Alerter - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jesttek.bitcointalkAlerter&hl=en

He may want an official app and also an app for iOS.
3193  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ISIS destroys Syrian Church on Easter Sunday on: April 11, 2015, 04:46:41 AM
ISIS tell they are following Islamic rules but it is a blatant and obvious lie.

They kill humans without any remorse. Do you really think they will care about buildings and stuff if they don't even care about humans.

They have destroyed hundreds of Shia Muslim shrines and mosques, in addition to Christian churches and Yazidi temples. But this is nothing when compared to the hundreds of thousands of innocent people who were butchered by them.

The amazing thing here, that these ISIS members are claiming themselves "muslims" but kill also muslims, christians etc... This is the really strange thing that I cannot understand.

Seems to be a quite pointless action. Calculated savagery is often part of the arsenal of conquering armies to shock their enemies but this one will piss of people instead of shock them into submission.

That's obvious, what is the purpose to destroy a Church? I think there isn't any valid reason for destroy an antique and important Church.

Your statement itself answers your question. They want to spread violence. By destroying an old and important Chruch and that too on Easter Sunday, most people will try to wage a war against them. I think that's what they want. CMIIW.

They kill humans without any remorse. Do you really think they will care about buildings and stuff if they don't even care about humans.
What are you talking about, after all Islam is religion of peace, if you want to check latest new about love and peace Islam is bringin upon  our world this website can open your eyes: http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/

FYI: That website twists some things a lot. I know as I am a Muslim, you either won't care what I say and rely on it or will tell I am lying unless you are a "truth seeker".

P.S. ISIS should be destroyed no matter what. However, a bloodless victory will be great. There are many innocents living in there. Whether "bloodless" refer to innocents only or to all is yet to be discussed.
3194  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do islam hates people? on: April 11, 2015, 04:28:10 AM
i think you are wise enough to know who controls wikipedia Smiley

As I have already posted multiple times, Wikipedia can't be an unbiased source for articles in the following topics: Politics, Religion, History, and Crime. However, Wikipedia can be a good reference for subjects in other topics, such as Flora & Fauna, Linguistics, Sports, Science, Medicine.etc.
If you think Wikipedia is biased then have a look at this- http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Islam
Some parts of the article are hillarious.

I don't know much about various wikis hosted in wikia, so I am not going to comment on it. If you want unbiased and quality information, then you should refer the Encyclopedia Britannica or some other reputed reference material. I was an editor with Wikipedia from 2004 to 2011, and I know very well what is going on there right now.
I always used to think that there must be many people working with Wikipedia and all will have different believes and faiths, but still is it possible for an organisation like Wikipedia to get biased?

It is possible. If there are people who check recent edits, they can/may correct biased edits, however, we can't tell it doesn't have any biased sentences in it.

Yes, it works for all including Patrol page.
3197  Other / Meta / Re: How to know the account has been banned in the past ? on: April 11, 2015, 03:43:04 AM
In the past, so I do not understand the rules of the forum, I have created multiple accounts and all banned. Before the ban, I used one of those

accounts to buy a "Full Member" account. And so far, I 've never used that account to post anything in this forum. There are two reasons that I have

Ban evasion is strictly prohibited.

not used it is :

1/ The account of my earlier banned for spamming . I admit that I have spam is strictly prohibited and . But according to my thinking , it 's not all my accounts are spam . Some of them are my very sincere post . So , I started to get nervous , I was wondering why the accounts that I truly post also banned?

When one of your account get a ban, other accounts may also be banned to avoid ban evasion.

How do I know my post is quality or not ?

• Look what the thread or post you are replying to is.
• Look what was your reply.

By seing both, you will get some idea of quality of your post. It you post in the threads you need to and not in the threads you want to, will avoid many low quality posts.

Sometimes I think that my post is better than some other members but their post shall be considered as "quality" and my post is "not quality" .

Look above. It isn't true. If spam > qualitative posts, you will be banned. Your alts are banned most probably to avoid ban evasion.

Maybe I was thinking wrong but I really felt like all my post are considered as spam at this time.
That is the first reason that I do not dare to use the account that I bought to post

2/ I do not know how to describe this deal in English

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1007228.0

A--->B(BTCBLOGGER)---->C(yogg)--->D(me)

+(A) sale for (B)
+(B) through (C) broker to sell me (I bought via PM)
+(A) "sign a message" to (B) when he sold it to (B)
This is PM that "yogg" sent me

Okay.

Sorry, Since I am newbie. I don't know anything about "sign a message". I do not know how is it important  ?

Signed message will help you to prove you are the "real" owner. When you buy an account, signed message from previous owner will prove you bought it. This can be used if the "real" owner come after sometime and tell it was hacked.

I need to keep secret that message as kept secret password or not ?

IMHO you shouldn't reveal it to others. Keeping it secure is good.

so I can not publicize it here . I sincerely apologize for that. I 'll publicize it when I know that it can be made public.
I will quote what he was PM me when transferred to my account include what is called "sign a message"

I recommend not to unless if there is a dispute or something. If you have no problem in people knowing it is your alt, then you can post the signed message publicly.

I see in profile with a Bitcoin address but I still keep it there without replacing another Bitcoin address (my Bitcoin address). So far, All what I did with that account is "log in" and "log out" to changed email address and password.

You should change the Bitcoin address.

Until now , I still have not yet got a respond from "yogg" as he said.

So that's the second reason I have not used that account to do anything.

You must ask yogg to give signed message. You may get into trouble sooner or later without it.

By the way, I hope you will help me to better understand about "sign a message" !

See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=990345.0. You will get some idea and you will understand how to sign messages.

+ Can I change Bitcoin address in the profile of the account that I bought ?

Yes.

+ If "yogg" dont send me a "sign a message" from BTCBLOGGER as he said then that account has been affected or any trouble ?

You will get into trouble, if:

• You ask a loan.
• You are doing a deal.

And (probably) more.

+ I need to save the content of the message or not ?

Sincerely thanks in advance !

You need to save every part of a signed message.

FYI: A Bitcoin signed message will contain 3 parts:

• Message.
• Bitcoin address.
• Signature.

NB: Bitcoin address will be the address you use to sign that message, any address other than it, will make the signed message invalid. Any copy-paste mistake in "message" or "signature" will also cause the signed message to be invalid.

P.S. You can either use your wallet or use https://brainwallet.github.io/#verify to verify signed messages.
3198  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do islam hates people? on: April 11, 2015, 02:52:26 AM
Truth is not established by the number of claims on one side or the other.  Almost everything about WWII is documented and the records are stored.  For example every single Allied flight mission, every person on those missions, where they went and what they did.  Even the secret records are no longer secret, IIRC.

We can't be sure about that. Even in most recorded wars, people can do things secretly. However, most of the things record say will be true.

Next you will be claiming that 4 million Jews did not die in concentration camps.

I would never say that.

While telling others (us) not to believe propaganda (anti-Muslim), you use it yourself for your own purposes(pro-Muslim)?

I didn't understand exactly what you are saying. Probably, you can clarify a bit?
3199  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which BTC wallet are you using on: April 11, 2015, 02:39:33 AM

If you are using a bad/poor client, I suggest you not to reuse addresses. Reusing addresses when using a bad/poor client will put you in danger as it exposes reused R values which will make a person easy to find your private key.

Thank you for your advice, Muhammad.  Being new, I'm not quite sure I understand this part of it, though.

Blockchain.info wallet lost ~200(+) Bitcoins because it exposed reused R values. When R values are reused, other persons can use it to find your private key.

Similar example: You use phone and is protected with PIN. When you unlock it many times, some marks may be seen on your phone screen. A person maybe able to find your PIN by looking at the marks. I know it because I have find few PINs of my acquaintances' phones. Grin

P.S. I did it on educational purpose and don't use this trick to unlock others' phones with bad intentions.
3200  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Updating Wallet? on: April 11, 2015, 02:30:20 AM
=snip=

Here's my final 2 questions:

(1)  Given the persistence of the unchanged, closed Bitcoion-Qt application, in which I could never find my old wallet.dat file and overwrote with Bitcoin Core - Wallet v0.10.0, should I minimize to my systray, or
(2)  Should I simply exit the Bitcoin Core - Wallet application until I need to use it again?

I suggest you to minimize to system tray. So syncing will continue. If you close it, you will have to sync when you open it again to get upto-date Blockchain.

I'm security happy.  Is there any reason not to encrypt my Bitcoin Core - Wallet (Settings > Encrypt Wallet)?

I use it. If you encrypt your wallet, backup the password and unencrypted private keys somewhere safe. Remember, if you don't make a backup, you will loose Bitcoins if you forgot the passphrase.

And yes, one more question.

Is there any reason not to delete my Bitcoin-Qt which is in my Windows 7 OS Local Disk (C:) > Program Files (x86) 32-bit Program Files, and shows no Date modification since 2011?

Will I lose my mysterious wallet.dat file that I cannot find?

From what I read, you used Bitcoin core 0.10 64-bit. If yes, there is no problem deleting the 32-bit file AFAIK.

Deleting Bitcoin-Qt won't make you loose your wallet.dat file. Assuming you didn't change default data dir, it is stored in %AppData%\Bitcoin. If you delete that folder, you will loose your wallet.dat file. Uninstalling Bitcoin-Qt won't make you loose it too but backup before uninstalling for security.
