The similarites of Islam and Christianity

<a taken>
b) Both believes in doing good works.
c) Both believes in praying, and repentance to sins commited
d) Both teaches to not judge others

True.

The key difference between Islam and Christianity as i see it:

a) Islam believes that Jesus was apostle of God, and not the son of God that he was made to be in the scriptures of the Bible.
b) Christianity believes that Jesus was the son of God, sent to die for our sins, so that we might be redeemed through good works and repentance of sins.

True.

could you perhaps add to these list Muhammad Zakir, about any difference i may have missed, or any errors that i made? I am really enjoying this discussion Smiley

Here are some problems:

a) Both believes there is one true God.

Only Islam believes in one true God.

Why isn't Christianity?

#1: “Jesus was the son of God” itself tells there is another God than Jesus and they believe it. If not, they can't beleive Jesus was "son of God".

#2: They take this is as evidence for Jesus as God.

“I and my Father, We are One.” (John 10:30).

In fact, it is out of context.

John 10:22 -  “But it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem and it was winter.”
John 10:23 - “And Yeshua was walking in The Temple on the porch of Solomon.”
John 10:24 - “And the Judeans surrounded him and were saying, "How long will you keep our souls in suspense? If you are The Messiah, tell us plainly."”
John 10:25 - “Yeshua answered and said to them, "I have told you, and you do not believe, and the works that I do in the Name of my Father, they testify of Me."”
John 10:26 - "But you do not believe, because you are not of my sheep, just as I said to you."
John 10:27 - "My sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow Me."
John 10:28 - "And I am giving them eternal life, and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them from my hand."
John 10:29 - "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand."
John 10:30 - "I and my Father, We are One."

If you look at this, you will understand on purpose they are one but it doesn't mean they are one person. Nobody can't snatch from Jesus' hands, nobody can't snatch from God's hand and hence, they are one.

Anyway, if they are still telling "no". Then they will have to believe in 14 Gods. Jesus, God and 12 disciples. Same thing used in different lines:

Romans 12:5 - “So also, we who are many, are one body in The Messiah, and each one of us is a member of the other.”

1 Corinthians 10:17 - “Just as that is one bread, and thus we are all one body, for we all receive from that which is one bread.”

John 17:11 - “From now on, I do not dwell in the world, but these are in the world, and I am coming to join you. Holy Father, keep them in your Name- that Name which you have given me, so that they shall be one, just as we are.”

Maybe more are there but last one I post which is said by Jesus' to disciples:

John 17:20-22 -  "That the all may be made one. Like thou Father art in me, I in thee, that they may be one in us. I in them, they in me, that they may be perfect in one"

See? Same "ONE" is used here. So that means 14(+) Gods? Huh

I don't think it means that so literally. I believe there is one God, as does every Christian I know. This means that we are all one through God. we are brothers in Christ, because he has died for our sins, so that we may be redeemed.

Jesus is God. The fact that He came as a man simply means that God took on the form of a man for awhile in Jesus. Jesus keeps the form of a man. It simply isn't manifested all the time.

We are being made like Jesus. We will never quite attain the exact fullness of God that Jesus has. We will simply be similar to Him.

God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit are all three God. They are not 3 Gods. They are 1 God. Yet they are each individually all God. The Father is all God. The Son is all God. The Holy Spirit is all God. This is something that we can't easily understand. We may never be able to understand it completely... at least not in this life.

We are being drawn into God likeness. We will not ever be God. We will simply partake of "Godness." This is happening right now, in this life. It is the reason that some will not make it to Heaven. They will use their "God strength" from their God likeness to reject themselves. They will think that they are rejecting God. But that is something that cannot be done. They will simply be rejecting their very selves.

But you know what also the Quoran said in a general matter? "And they won't accept you, Neither the Jews nor the Christians until you follow what they believe". Sadly most people are like that.

Wink

5:68 - “Say: "O People of the Book! ye have no ground to stand upon unless ye stand fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that has come to you from your Lord." It is the revelation that cometh to thee from thy Lord, that increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. But sorrow thou not over (these) people without Faith.”

5:69 - “Those who believe (in the Qur'an), those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Sabians and the Christians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness,- on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.”

5:72 - “They do blaspheme who say: "(Allah) is Christ the son of Mary." But said Christ: "O Children of Israel! worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Whoever joins other gods with Allah,- Allah will forbid him the garden, and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrong-doers be no one to help.”

5:75 - “Christ the son of Mary was no more than an apostle; many were the apostles that passed away before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They had both to eat their (daily) food. See how Allah doth make His signs clear to them; yet see in what ways they are deluded away from the truth!”

5:76 - “Say: "Will ye worship, besides Allah, something which hath no power either to harm or benefit you? But Allah,- He it is that heareth and knoweth all things."”

5:77 - “Say: "O people of the Book! exceed not in your religion the bounds (of what is proper), trespassing beyond the truth, nor follow the vain desires of people who went wrong in times gone by,- who misled many, and strayed (themselves) from the even way.”

5:78 - “Curses were pronounced on those among the Children of Israel who rejected Faith, by the tongue of David and of Jesus the son of Mary: because they disobeyed and persisted in excesses.”

NB: Here children means descendants of a family or people.

5:79 - “Nor did they (usually) forbid one another the iniquities which they committed: evil indeed were the deeds which they did.”

5:82 - “Strongest among men in enmity to the believers wilt thou find the Jews and Pagans; and nearest among them in love to the believers wilt thou find those who say, "We are Christians": because amongst these are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world, and they are not arrogant.   ”

5:83   - “And when they listen to the revelation received by the Messenger, thou wilt see their eyes overflowing with tears, for they recognise the truth: they pray: "Our Lord! we believe; write us down among the witnesses.”

5:84 - "What cause can we have not to believe in Allah and the truth which has come to us, seeing that we long for our Lord to admit us to the company of the righteous?"

5:85   - “And for this their prayer hath Allah rewarded them with gardens, with rivers flowing underneath,- their eternal home. Such is the recompense of those who do good.”

5:86 - “But those who reject Faith and belie our Signs,- they shall be companions of Hell-fire.”

i agree with this being taught in Christianity. but can you find some kind of logic in that?
if Jesus was being sent to die for our sins.. we can sin as much as we want, murder anyone, rob, rape, do whatever we want and we wont be punished. because Jesus was sent to die for our sins..

Q. Assalaamu Alaikum brother. I am Dr. Qamar Aara and my question is – Christians explain the concept of ‘trinity’ as well as, ‘that God can take human form’ – by giving the example that water can be present in 3 states – as ‘solid’ like ice, ‘liquid’ as water, and ‘gas’ as vapour – Yet it is one and the same water. Similarly a person can also be a father, a brother, a business man at the same time – But yet he is one and the same person – So why not the father, the son and the holy sprit?
Posted on November 17, 2012
(Dr. Zakir): The sister has asked the question regarding ‘trinity’. The Christians have the concept of ‘trinity’, – father, son, holy ghost. Her previous question was – I had proved it from the Bible, that Jesus (peace be upon him) never believed in ‘trinity’. Now she gave an example – She has given a human logic, asking a question, that if water can be present in three states – as Solid, Liquid and Gas – as Ice, Water and Vapour – When water can be in 3 states, why can’t God be? Similarly, the Christian missionaries – they pose the question… ‘Even God Almighty can be present in three forms – the father,  son, and holy ghost. But if you analyze, I do agree matter can be in three states – Solid, Liquid and Gas. But you should realize that if water is present in 3 states… solid, liquid, gas – as ice, water, and vapour, in all the three states – the constituents, the component of water is the same… H2O.  Even if its ice,  the constituent and component is H2O –  Even when it is water it is H2O – Even when it is vapour it is H2O – Even when it is ice… even when it is gas or liquid, it is H2O – That’s very important.  Now lets analyze the example they gave of ‘trinity’ – Father, son and holy ghost. In 3 forms if you say… for the sake of argument, I agree – but are the constituents of all these three things, – father, son, that is Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) and holy ghost, the same? We know very well that human beings have got flesh and bones – A spirit and God Almighty have got no flesh and bones. Human beings require to eat -God Almighty does not require to eat. And the same message Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) gave – Its mentioned in the Gospel of Luke Ch. No.24, V.No.39 to 43. That, ‘Behold my hands and feet – Its I myself. Handle me and see – that a spirit has got  no flesh and bones as you see me have. And he gave his hands and feet – And they were overjoyed. To prove what? that he was not a spirit – he was not God Almighty. And the verse continues ‘Do you have meat to eat’ and the next verse says that he ate broiled fish and honey comb.  To prove what? – that he was God? To prove that he was not God! Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) said, ‘A spirit has no flesh and bones, as I have proving that he was not a spirit – he was not Almighty God. Regarding the second example – sister gave the example, that a person can be a father, a brother and a businessman at the same time, – So why can’t God be father, son and holy ghost. It’s a very good example, and I do agree that one person can be a father, can be a brother, and can be a businessman at the same time. Many people out here also may be father, brother and businessman at the same time. But if suppose, the sister of that man tells a secret to the brother, but natural even the father and businessman will know that secret, because he is one and the same person. If a sister tells a secret to the brother, who is a father and a businessman at the same time – when the secret is told to the brother, even the ‘father’ part of that man, and ‘businessman’ part of the man will know the secret. But when you read in the Bible, in the  Gospel of  Mark, Ch. No. 13,  Verse No. 32, it says ‘Of that day, of that hour, knoweth no man, – no, not even the angels in the heaven, nor the son of man, but the father’. ‘The knowledge of the hour of  that day – no one knows. Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) said ‘Except the Father’ – not even the angels, not even himself. If Father -, the God Almighty, and Jesus Christ (peace be upon him), were one and the same – then if knowledge of hour is known to God Almighty, even Jesus should know about it (peace be upon him). So this proves that they were not one. Further… further, if the brother dies, even the man and the businessman will die… If the brother dies, even man and businessman will die. So when Jesus Christ (peace be upon him), according to the Bible… according to the Christians, he died on the Cross – do you mean to say even God Almighty and the Holy ghost died?

15“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

@BADecker: The rotten fruit growing from your branches is very obvious to anyone that cares to look. I spotted that one a long time ago.

i agree with you, but since he is misguiding people about Islam and Muslim, i prefer to put his intelligence apart and continue to reply him according to verses and quotes..

ask Badecker quotes and verses, he will take them from websites spreading hate. he has nothing plausible to say. he just google something, copy and paste it.

@BADecker, What denomination do you follow? This is an important question because %90 of all denominations will condemn you to blasphemy. You cannot say 3 god, 3 god(s). You can refer to them individually but you cannot call each god.

So by definition you are not a Christian so by definition you are a terrorist <---( I don't really believe this but just following how some people here thinks  XD )

Will take me a while to climb up again, But where is a will, there is a way...

From his this Post It looks he is a Christian

Thats why some people got crazy by reading the bible there are so flaws in it. You would read other passages that contradicts the other.

There are no flaws in the Bible. The flaws are in the people... especially the people who look for flaws in the Bible.

LOL a suggestion?  Don't go down the road of trying to understand the Trinity, it's purposefully constructed against the rules of logic and sort of a "created mystery."  Waste of total time.

Let us look at John 10:30 "I (Jesus) and the Father are One."  This verse is  severely misunderstood and is taken out of context, because beginning at verse John 10:23 we read (in the context of 10:30) about Jesus talking to the Jews. In verse John 10:28-30, talking about his followers as his sheep, he states: "...Neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father who gave them me, is greater than all, and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and the Father are One."

These verses prove only that Jesus and the Father are one in that no man can pluck the sheep out of either's hand. It does not at all state that Jesus is God's equal in everything. In fact the words of Jesus, " My Father, who gave them me is Greater than ALL...,"  in John 10:29 completely negates this claim, otherwise we are left with a contradiction just a sentence apart. All includes everyone even Jesus.

Just one thing, are you deliberately trying to deviate from the main topic or do you think talking about other religion's weakness and messages would save Islam from the bad limelight? You cannot prove something is right by identifying a same fault in the other religion

Just one thing, are you deliberately trying to deviate from the main topic or do you think talking about other religion's weakness and messages would save Islam from the bad limelight? You cannot prove something is right by identifying a same fault in the other religion

Nope. This topic came here, so I posted. That's all. No deliberate deviation.

Islam doesn't tell to be a terrorist, it is people who do it. I know once you keep these beliefs are careved on heart, you can't change it easily. This is how the world is: “Whatever bad things muslims do is because of Islam and no matter how small it is, it will be marked and known/popular in history. But whatever good things muslims do is because of his goodness not Islam's and no matter how big it is, it will be unmarked and unknown/unpopular in history!Sad

Same fault? I was trying to prove that Jesus isn't God but a prophet.

Quote

I suggest you to read this interesting article:

After the Charlie Hebdo attack, a Paris imam went to the scene and condemned the murders. "These victims are martyrs, and I shall pray for them with all my heart," said Hassen Chalghoumi (above). He was also quoted as saying that 95% of victims of terrorism are Muslim. How accurate is this statistic?
The claim is similar to one in a 2011 report by the US government's National Counter-Terrorism Center (NCTC), which said: "In cases where the religious affiliation of terrorism casualties could be determined, Muslims suffered between 82 and 97% of terrorism-related fatalities over the past five years."

http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-30883058

I think your point is invalid, if the most victims of terrorist attack (all) are muslim this is really no sense. A muslim attack another muslim in name o a God (Allah)... this is really no sense.

According to people above who say "Islam is violence", they are thinking that we muslims are born with guns and bombs directly from stomach of mother. Undecided

No, it is not only for you but for all who "watching" this thread. They should prove that all the muslim are terrorists and why the most victim of those attacks are muslims. I really can't understand this theory because I have a lot of friends from numerous Religion (jewish, muslim, hinduism,Sikhism and christianity) and none of them is a terrorist.

Me too. They just don't care.

I pity US more than I pity claimed-to-be-muslim terrorists. 1.7 million Germans killed and telling it was Russians who did it! Shocked Cry

He ordered that these Germans did not fall under the Geneva Rules, and were NOT TO BE FED, NOR GIVEN ANY WATER or medical attention. The Swiss Red Cross was NOT to inspect the camps, for under the DEF classification, they had no such authority or jurisdiction.

Months after the war was officially over, Eisenhower’s special German DEF camps were still in operation forcing the men into confinement, but denying that they were prisoners.

For years we have blamed the 1.7 million missing German POW’s on the Russians. Until now, no one dug too deeply … Witnesses and survivors have been interviewed by the author; one Allied officer compared the American camps to Buchenwald.”

It is known, that the Allies had sufficient stockpiles of food and medicine to care for these German soldiers. This was deliberately and intentionally denied them. Many men died of gangrene from frostbite due to deliberate exposure.

Edit: Nazis were at-least kind enough to give food unlike this US.

What total bullshit.  You use made up conspiracy theories to demonize the United States.

Why not use reputable sources?  Why not for that matter, use the original sources?

Here is wikipedia refuting your conspiracy theory in which the USA was the bad guy in WWII and not Germany.

Claims are almost equal. Almost half say it is false and almost another half say it is true. Besides, most of them who say it is false are Americans.

However, if this is still false(which I think it isn't), I am sorry! But I think many of them believed it. This is an influence caused by media. Don't you think this will also be used for making all muslims terrorists? This is why I said, if some people do bad, don't tell all are bad.

Truth is not established by the number of claims on one side or the other.  Almost everything about WWII is documented and the records are stored.  For example every single Allied flight mission, every person on those missions, where they went and what they did.  Even the secret records are no longer secret, IIRC.

Next you will be claiming that 4 million Jews did not die in concentration camps.

While telling others (us) not to believe propaganda (anti-Muslim), you use it yourself for your own purposes(pro-Muslim)?

We can't be sure about that. Even in most recorded wars, people can do things secretly. However, most of the things record say will be true.

Next you will be claiming that 4 million Jews did not die in concentration camps.

I would never say that.

While telling others (us) not to believe propaganda (anti-Muslim), you use it yourself for your own purposes(pro-Muslim)?

I didn't understand exactly what you are saying. Probably, you can clarify a bit?
