Seems to me, what the markets need, is a mass liquidation event.........

The market only always needs a mega pump....

Hmmmm, I dunno bro, I think to get the pump, we may need to crush a load of longs, then the market can go and crush the shorts.

BTC wise, looking at those longs on finex... they surely need culling at some point.

It is the sideeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeways I fear the most... that is the worst of the worst.

Want to only make 6x then just invest in the regular coins like BTC and ETH. These are about to go 6x because we are at our close to the bottom.

Many are waiting for it and Now the price of Ethereum is $1670 what will happen if Ethereum if all stages are completed in the future?

Let's do the math
Lowest price now is $1700 highest $4800 (approx)
Eth 2.0 will kill off 90% of its coin generation (triple halving).
A halving should in theory double the price.
A triple halving is 8x the current price.

So anywhere from $13600 to $38400 per ETH is a sane estimate.
325  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Sentiment Poll for June on: June 11, 2022, 01:58:30 PM
I was looking at google trends for Bitcoin and ethereum.
To my surprise there is massive interest in ethereum from china and hardly any interest in Bitcoin.
There is something big going on in China around ethereum.
Maybe it's the miners or something else that will be explosive  Huh Cool

That really is a great summation of the situation.

It does remind of how just a week ago I was explaining it to an anti-bitcoiner, someone who didn't want to get, who was fighting me for some reason, as if I was the one that was causing them anguish for having created bitcoin (I don't know).  Anyways,  I put it to him this way:

It's not like someone is going to come out next week with something better than the internet.  The internet was a massive achievement, but what would this new thing need to be for everyone to just drop the current internet and start using something else.

His response was:  ... what do you mean??  There has been newer and different internets.  "web 2.0".  Then he holds up his iphone and says look at this new internet on here!

At that point I gave up.
Hahahahhahahah it’s just embarrassing. But then again, the opportunity cost for choosing to not understand Bitcoin is getting higher every year, whoever wanna afford this luxury so be it. I gave up on convincing people.

A lot of people use technology but have no clue on how it works.
Just like people that can't even tell you where there country is on a globe.

It speaks volumes about the decline of basic education.
327  Other / Archival / Re: What do you expect from bitcoin in the second half of 2022? on: June 11, 2022, 11:11:46 AM

328  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Bitcoin the best investment at the moment? on: June 10, 2022, 07:06:01 PM
Bitcoin is a type of high risk investment so we must always be wise, the profit opportunity is high but the risk is also high, many people sell anything to invest in bitcoin, but when they see the fact that the price is dropping then they get angry and sell at a loss, and this is what makes we must always be realistic and logical when investing bitcoin.
Before starting a bitcoin investment, you must have a mature strategy. A bitcoin investment strategy really depends on your risk profile and the financial goals you want to achieve. However, it requires patience in managing emotions. Therefore, if a novice investor wants to invest in bitcoin, don't just follow trends and invest without a strategy.

Exactly this. I've done trading but it didn't work out that well for me. Now I HODL which is a more risk free and defensive strategy if you do it with money you don't expect to ever see back. After many years the HODL seems to be very profitable.

So pick a mature strategy that is in line with your capabilities.

P.S. diamond hands HODL isn't easy either  Wink

It's funny how the US is at the top of this list. It's because they have a big ego problem.

Euro zone has 8.1%
China has 2.1%
And many more countries...

OT:

The loving green Dutch government has decided (in accordance to following EU emission regulation) enough with farming in The Netherlands. It is simply too polluting regardless of the fact that the food and milk generated has fed millions over the hundreds of years and was there before a single green policy and any form of Unity within Europe was ever thought of.

Enough is enough with this disgusting practice of localised farming, we'd rather pay Billy HingPing Swing in the outskirts of Shanghai to do your job!

"Fuck you farmers, and no, we don't thank you, just close shop, we'd rather import all this stuff and make it look like we are as clean as Elon Musk's bare ass."

Sounds reasonable I guess. Especially since the conservative party was voted in again as the biggest party. The voters get exactly what they want with the green policies shoved down their throats.

Inflation is just not high enough!

Yup we're a postage stamp sized country trying to single-handedly solve the climate crisis  Roll Eyes

That nitrogen argrument is a lie. What they really want is to build more houses at the cost of fertile farmland because we have a serious housing problem over here.

Netherlands is not only 2e biggest exporter of agriculture in the world but it is also the biggest exporter of meat in the EU. (Impressive feat of efficiency for such a small country.) While the goverment does not touch agriculture farmers, i don't have problems reducing the size of life-stock but not with 70%, it will literally change the countryside landscape into concrete.

There are to many people living here, it's getting to croweded in my opinion.

The country will turn into a gigantic city.

+1 and I'm Dutch
331  Economy / Speculation / Re: What make people panic sell? on: June 10, 2022, 02:53:46 PM
Emotions. It's what happens when you trade with money you need.

The other factor is probably "leveraged positions" with too little beef to pull through...

Poorly chosen stop loss in a highly volatile market..

My gut says there will be a flash down to $20k to mop up all the shorts and then a steep rise to leave all the weak hands behind. But then again this is Bitcoin.

PlanB curve
Log-log curve estimates

The PHP programming language is bizarre and, if nothing else, worthy of anthropological study.

Accordingly, I shall now contribute to advancing the state of the anthropological sciences:

I remember i started here as a bloody noob with opinions like those of "Next-door".

You mean that you called XRP “trusted”, you bought altcoins for “passive income”, and you advocated programming in PHP? Roll Eyes

The part you didn't include in your quoted reply was the single opinion i refered to (including implicit opinion/s).
I should have wrote it a bit different = "opinion" (singular).

Literally the anser to your question: No. I didn't, i didn't do that too, but i was coding in php pretty well on a daily basis, didn't use much of the php5 OOP functionality, though. Php wasn't quite the language to solve most problems, but quick and straightforward unlike perl, which requires more geekyness, and i was advocating perl pretty frequently. As a plus it was working out-of-the-box on most distributions other than windoze, escpecially because windows was quite the exception in the serverside environment(s) i was working at. Good for web based interfaces using persistent socket connections, also when you needed direct access to the OS functions.
I only used compiler  langs when i really needed a native binary for a specific platform, which mostly was a desire for windoze targets. Edited Java on *nix machines, didn't like it at all, don't ask me why.

EDIT: Deep inside, i feel it was something about the naming scheme of the classes and methods. #nohomo

Since you took my sarcastic reply too literally, I will reply literally.

The problem with PHP is best summed up in the classic titled “PHP: a fractal of bad design”; I suggest that you read it all:

An analogy

I just blurted this out to Mel to explain my frustration and she insisted that I reproduce it here.

Quote
I can’t even say what’s wrong with PHP, because—  okay.  Imagine you have uh, a toolbox.  A set of tools.  Looks okay, standard stuff in there.

You pull out a screwdriver, and you see it’s one of those weird tri-headed things.  Okay, well, that’s not very useful to you, but you guess it comes in handy sometimes.

You pull out the hammer, but to your dismay, it has the claw part on both sides.  Still serviceable though, I mean, you can hit nails with the middle of the head holding it sideways.

You pull out the pliers, but they don’t have those serrated surfaces; it’s flat and smooth.  That’s less useful, but it still turns bolts well enough, so whatever.

And on you go.  Everything in the box is kind of weird and quirky, but maybe not enough to make it completely worthless.  And there’s no clear problem with the set as a whole; it still has all the tools.

Now imagine you meet millions of carpenters using this toolbox who tell you “well hey what’s the problem with these tools?  They’re all I’ve ever used and they work fine!”  And the carpenters show you the houses they’ve built, where every room is a pentagon and the roof is upside-down.  And you knock on the front door and it just collapses inwards and they all yell at you for breaking their door.

That’s what’s wrong with PHP.

There is no other language like PHP.  It is undoubtedly the worst programming language that has ever achieved widespread usage.

If we were discussing, say, Javascript, I would acknowledge its strong points.  Sure, the language has some flaws; sure, the Node ecosystem sucks and the browser ecosystem sucks worse; sure, a large proportion of Javascript “programmers” are clueless copypaste monkeys who should be forbidden from ever touching a computer.  But Javascript is not a horrible language, in itself—at least, not in recent ES editions.  I even admit that I sometimes enjoy writing Javascript code.  And there are some Javascript experts who can do wizardry with it.

PHP is categorically horrible.  PHP is an abomination.  Next-door’s advocacy of PHP is like Elon Musk’s claim that Dogecoin is superior to Bitcoin;* well, it does show that Next-door is just like Elon Musk!  Anyway—PHP is bad, bad, bad.  End of story.

* Link that I dug up yesterday for other purposes not yet published... lol.  (Analogy added with edits.)

Typescript is a facade to hide the auwfulness that is called JavaScript.
But yes typescript does make JavaScript look like a proper language.

However I dislike any language with dynamic types where a monkey abuses variables.

That said languages like PHP and JavaScript have become the top in their domain even though they are flawed.
Just like VHS won from Betamax (because of p0rn).
And just like Bitcoin because it has been adopted by the majority...
338  Economy / Speculation / Re: Holding my horses for now on: May 29, 2022, 07:54:40 PM
Market conditions are still red, so we have to be patient, I think holding is a better thing, I always believe that the price of bitcoin will go up soon, if we panic by selling bitcoin now then I'm sure tomorrow we will regret it, daily transaction volume makes us worthy to be optimistic about the future of bitcoin.
Buying right now is not a bad move at all if you ask me, the price is not moving much at the moment and buying bitcoin for a price which is more than 50% lower than the previous all time high it is not a bad spot to enter the market, now could we see a better price in the future? Of course, however that is only a possibility which may not manifest, while the price of 29k that we are seeing right now is a reality and a chance to buy bitcoin for a price that will be impossible to see a few years down the line.

Exactly this, once the train starts moving it is easy to miss the first surge because exchanges will get hit by massive demand.
People tend to want to buy the deepest point of the dip but nobody will succeed in that.
After the first surge they will be buying in an uphill battle, easily missing the train.

Get your coins ahead of the stampede  Smiley

340  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is your fill the bag Bitcoin price? on: May 29, 2022, 07:43:26 PM
I'm filling my bags, probably 5k too early, because once this puppy takes off you will be happy to be onboard.

If you zoom out and draw two lines through the ATH and lowest points, you can see that 20k will be the ultimate bottom of the channel for now.
With time the bottom is creeping up whilst we go sideways. Once we hit the the lower line I believe we will be going up to new heights... Cool
