321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Buy Monero then Hold? on: April 10, 2018, 02:29:26 AM
I use to be positive on Monero and as the best privacy coin in the space but the recent action of the team just got me thinking, changing the code to prevent Asci mining is a wrong decision IMO, this is a personal and a centralise move, so if they keep developing miners they will keep changing it just to protect their own selfish interest

ASICs are one of the main causes of centralization. Also, what selfish interest? Do you think Fluffy and Co are in cahoots with video-card makers? Or CPU makers? If so, do you have more than a statement you pulled out of your ass? Or some suggestion as to avoid centralization that doesn't involve kowtowing to ASIC makers--the same people who have destroyed Bitcoin's decentralization (though Bitcoin developers have yet to address it outside of continuing to brand it as decentralized).

Monero is a safe bet regarding privacy coins.  You won't see huge gains anymore on monero, Its worth a shot to take a look at the lower marketcap privacy coins in my opinion.

How do you know that?

I'd assume that the trillions, yes trillions, in black market and untaxed wealth (along with anyone who doesn't like being watched or having their escort bill blasted over the internet) will only use the best privacy available, not some po' dunk shitcoin with a richlist.

326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA IS CENTRALIZED on: April 08, 2018, 01:20:41 PM
Um, yes, IOTA is centralized. Let me put it this way. If a coin is launched with an ICO, then you bet it is centralized, despite what the developers will want you to think. Of course, I think there are some that have in their roadmaps a way to eventually decentralize, but then that's a roundabout way to do things to me. But I suppose it was unavoidable. Even Satoshi had to decide and even mine on his own at one point. And then he left. And natural order happened. So,,, your point does not have a point maybe?

It wasn't a choice against decentralization or a roundabout way to get there, it was a solution to an inherent problem in DAGs. Until there is enough tx, the network is especially vulnerable to attacks, so the coordinator serves as a protection. The devs have stated over and over that it will be opensourced, and when they feel the network is large enough, they will remove it.

I think Zencash and Verge  can be very popular in near future. Monero has bad reputation because all this drug stories

Drug dealers are proof of a privacy coin's usability, the fact that they aren't using one is a clear sign that it will never gain mainstream use for privacy, because if you care about privacy, the best proof is the bad guys like it and the good guys fear it. Though I'm sure speculators who don't care about real world adoption will keep pumping these shitcoins until the bubble burst.

Iota it s a nice project with strong comunity and team

huge capital and big potential in the future, but not a perfect right now..
today i see many better projects

ATM there is no better project for IOT. There may be projects that are further along in a different sector, but that's comparing apples to oranges. The only comparison you should make is with coins that have a legitimate chance at feeless scalability, everything else is noise.

i will choose monero and verge,
for me both are the best privacy coin at this moment,,
and in my opinion verge is undervalued now  Wink
How does the future sound for verge with all the hacks that is going on around and with the project asking for funds from the community .Does it impact the potential and credibility of verge ?

The moment verge's devs and shills tried to claim IP obfuscation was the holy grail of anonymity, they lost all credibility. If they had just stuck to being doge dark, they would have still been a shitcoin, but they would have been an honest one.

WZL - press release

Real industrial application with IOTA
New cooperation with grandcentrix

The WZL machine tool laboratory at RWTH Aachen University is currently researching the "Internet of Production" - the core of the Industrial Internet of Things, which paves the way for a future era of production.

The Internet of Production (IoP) describes real-time, secure information availability anytime, anywhere. Generated information is formed into a multilateral and high-volume digital shadow of production. Accurate and continuous data analysis is followed by pattern recognition. Pattern recognition enables decision support for decision support as a second step on the way to controlled production. Systematic learning from the data creates the considerable additional benefit of the Internet of Production. Agile, high-iterative product development is just as possible as the quick, error-free implementation of a change request in mass production. The competitive advantage of real-time aggregated information enables new dimensions of adoption and agility in implementation.

In this context, current technologies are evaluated for their suitability to translate and implement the vision of the Internet of Production into industrial practice. "The multi-dimensional Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) technology developed by the non-profit IOTA Foundation based in Berlin represents a more promising component of a novel machine-to-machine communication, and its suitability for industrial applications by our researchers independently developed and tested ", says Dr.-Ing. Daniel Trauth, Senior Engineer at the Chair of Manufacturing Technology and Head of the Machine Learning Group in Production Engineering at the Machine Tool Laboratory.

The DAG technology ("Tangle") offers the ability to transport and store data points tamper-proof, cross-manufacturer and fast compared to blockchain-based systems. Data economics and marketplaces are made possible, with IOTA, in contrast to classic blockchain technologies, with no transaction fees and thus business models that require the exchange of nanopayments, ie the loss-free accounting of smallest amounts.

Specifically, the example of an industrial fineblanking system at the Chair of Manufacturing Technology will be used to examine how individual process states, production steps and component properties can be digitally modeled in a networked supply chain. For the first time, this will enable customers of fineblanking technology to reproduce the manufacturing history.

In future, the WZL will rely on cooperation with grandcentrix GmbH, one of the most modern system houses for Internet of Things productions and smart products in the region. This collaboration makes it possible to realize the vision of the Internet of Production with the know-how and methods of a successful IT company.

Grandcentrix brings technical coaching, architecture and experience from numerous Internet of Things large projects as well as best practices in industrial, agile product development. The joint development team has one of the currently most attractive labs for the development of digital, networked products at the Cologne timber market. Grandcentrix supports the free IOTA network itself with some of the most powerful IOTA nodes and has direct contact with the IOTA Core developers through its involvement on the board of the IOTA Foundation.

"IOTA has the great vision of an open, toll-free, transactional backbone for the Internet of Things. Anyone who deals intensively with the idea of data marketplaces and machine-to-machine economies knows that centrally organized platforms will never be the trailblazers for networked business models. In order to really tap into the far-reaching potential of the Internet of Things, it simply takes a new kind of decentralized platform. For the tenth year, at grandcentrix we are dealing exclusively with the networking of hardware and software. We are thrilled to be able to bring these technologies into industrial application in cooperation with the renowned RWTH. "Ralf Rottmann, Managing Partner grandcentrix and Member Board of Directors IOTA Foundation

The project will start in April 2018.

IOTA is considered a lucky coin
but now im quite worried
its been red and negative all round https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/iota

You could pull that up for most any coin in the last four months--not really useful when the market is down overall. I'd save your worry.

Great article on first principle thinking. Not directly related to IOTA, but when you keep in my mind that IOTA was created to solve the problem of an M2M economy, choices that seem at odds with how most think about cryptocurrencies (cater to speculators, usurp banks, P2P, etc.) make much more sense and are why so many companies, who are focused on the same problem, are enamored with IOTA: https://medium.com/the-mission/first-principles-elon-musk-on-the-power-of-thinking-for-yourself-8b0f275af361

Translated:

Yu-jen calls on ministries and the iota foundation to develop a national IOT strategy.

Today I called on all ministries to meet with the International Internet of Things pioneer IOTA Foundation to jointly develop a national strategy for the development of the Internet of Things. The Executive Yuan, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of Education, the National Communications and Communication Commission and Asia 矽 Silicon Valley

Taiwan’s ideas for blockchain, cryptocurrency, and other technologies still remain in the financial arena, but in addition to Blockchain technology, the application of the Internet of Things is also a trend that will certainly become mainstream in the future. A few days ago, Taipei City’s citizen card also spread news that will combine Internet of Things technology. Therefore, I especially invited the ministries to meet with the IOTA Director of Public Policy (Julie Maupin) to jointly stimulate the possibility of the application of IoT technology in the development of national policies.

Julie Maupin said that the Foundation is now running the Open Source Project of IOTA. At present, the foundation has also attracted the attention of many European countries. The project has also been run and developed in Germany with many start-up teams.

The IOTA technology itself is inspired by the blockchain, but the general blockchain technology uses data compression and decryption by a third party to transfer information to the other party, which consumes a relatively large amount of energy. The speed will also be affected by the number of data items, and it will not be able to carry megabytes of IoT applications. However, IONA's unique technology, Tangle, is just the opposite of blockchain. Using split-book technology, you can freely add trading points. Each trader is only responsible for checking the first two transactions. The more users, the faster the overall transaction speed.

At the same time, IOTA is also different from traditional IoT technologies. In addition to using the Internet, it can also be transmitted through communication technologies such as blue tooth and radio. Taiwan's technology hardware manufacturers are numerous and excellent. In the future of low-cost hardware devices, the development of IOTA is a very good opportunity for Taiwan's industry.

According to the Ministry of Transport, IOTA technology is superior to blockchain in some aspects and its application scope is also different. In the future, it will continue to contact IOTA to find out more possible applications. The Ministry of Science and Technology also stated that in recent years, the Ministry of Science and Technology has plans to cultivate new technology start-up companies. The Ministry of Science and Technology proposed that IOTA be able to contact new entrepreneurs in Taiwan. Through the kinetic energy and potential of start-up companies, the development and application of IOTA can A big breakthrough. Asia and Silicon Valley also promised to introduce the IOTA plan to cooperative companies in the future, so that such new technologies can connect with Taiwanese companies.

In addition to innovation and technology, Yu-Jen has also been concerned about the development of laws and regulations and the impact of technology on Taiwan. Taiwan has a lot of manufacturing technology experience. I think that Taiwan should think about how to respond to the impact of future science and technology, and how to use existing technologies and experiences in the research and development of innovation and technology, and then expand Taiwan's industry.

I hope that this meeting can serve as the beginning of the development of Taiwan’s IoT technology, open the Taiwanese government’s thinking on the application of science and technology, use innovation to drive legislation and policy formulation, and give Taiwan new possibilities in the future.
