322  Other / Off-topic / Re: Happy 4th of July !!!! on: July 06, 2014, 04:37:19 AM
What is so special about 4th of July, sorry i'm not from the same country as you are, please give a bit more data, so others will understand as well.

Special only to US citizens and territories I suppose.  It's the US Independence Day from England's colonial rule.

Lots of beer, hot dogs, BBQ, parks, dogs, kids, music, fireworks.

Its also the day that the US defeated aliens using a computer virus(see the documentary Independence Day for more details).

Sad I have no feast 4th July, only the WC games  Sad

So sad that William Smith stopped his career of saving Earth to become an actor.  Think of the political capital he would have had.

if you preordered a mining rig be ready to face trouble and delays. Worst comes to worst you participate in a class action lawsuit.

Most ASIC preorder failures will never even get to that point.  Ever hear of bASIC?  One of the most trusted forum members started that and it went belly up and there is nobody to sue.

He's buying it to heat his house. I was actually thinking I might do the same thing next winter. Make a few satoshi as I warm my house Smiley

ok, but what about electricity cost? When I got my electricity bill, it took my breath away Shocked (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bx51eegLTY8)

In some places where electricity is cheap, heaters utilize electricity instead of gas.  If you're going to be generating heat through electricity, might as have it do some useful work.  For the northern hemisphere, any miners that you could get for cheap will earn almost nothing anyways since the difficulty would be a magnitude higher.

74 will be the winner.  Dank told me it would be so in one of his visions.

Banned since the  username word "rasta" reminds me to smoke cannabis.
Banned for being a noob. I don't like noobs, I don't like people without a picture and I don't like people without a decent signature.

Banned for using the word noobs.
328  Other / Off-topic / Re: Answer the question above with a question. on: July 05, 2014, 09:42:33 PM
I think it just happened but how long will it continue to happen?

Until the end of time or until the end of bitcoin?
Magazines like Time won't last a century, while a religion may last for millennia; could bitcoin be a religion?

I spelled time with a small t meaning for time as the time we measure with calendars, watches etc.

not Time, bitcoin is a religion

we worship the mighty Satoshi so he does not smite us with his mighty smite

You my Bitcoin-san, do you believe in our lord and saviour the Satoshi?
Ignoring the fact that you also spelled Bitcoin with a demeaning lower case 'b', which would excuse my assumption that you wrote Time that way only because you were a fan of e e cummings, aren't you bothered by the fact that 'Satoshi Nakamoto' is an anagram of 'Satan has oskimoto', even though we don't know what 'oskimoto' could mean?

There are a great many things unknown that one may think about, but once one does, does that not at once make them known about, therefore allowing us to find the meaning thereof?

What did I just read?

The Steve Jobs yatch Is common news. If you haven't seen it in the media many months ago you are so far behind. And if you thought for a second that it was mine you already proved to the world how uninformed you are. Absolute noobs on this forum. Like someone with a yatch of that caliber would hang around this forum...

But that's how you cruise with iMacs from coast to coast and pick up chicks with. Who says apple products can't work that magic? Which was my response to a previous post.

Bitgeek ALToids and blitzcrank are dumb-dumbs.   Go buy a shotgun, find a dark ally,  and shoot yourself on the head. Thanks.

Haha these Mac fanboys are so easy to troll.  I guess the 15 year-old need some place to vent.

There are several people on this forum who have assets that could easily purchase that yacht.  We don't need to swagger around "big pimpin'" like those people in those music videos you watch.  I bought a shotgun, shot myself, and just like the Twilight movies you love I came back to life.

HM makes nice chairs but for about $2k more you can get a custom chair - the "tether" room at Google has all custom chairs - same place I ordered mine.

No. There are not. Maybe the winklevossss. And that's just a maybe. Such a yatch is $150 million. Not to mention the cost of maintenance. And even if they were bitcoin wealthy, like satoshi, such a transaction would be impossible without exchanging the coins for fiat and forking out a 25% tax.

And Google Facebook yahoo and apple all use HM chairs. Kind of a must when you are sitting for 8+ hours everyday pecking away on a keyboard.

Anyway you have no idea what the fuck you are taking about.

Winklevoss are late to the game.  I'm pretty sure Artforz could easily buy that yacht.  You only have to pay tax if you are in a country where the transaction is registered.  Most of the big trades that occur do so offline - most likely without documentation.

I am at Google every 2 weeks or so.  While the majority of their chairs are HM, the play room has custom fabric chairs in those nasty colors and the tether room uses those custom ergoson chairs.

As you noted the HM chairs have the cover tend to pile down towards the seat lip.  I'm about the same size as you and I had the same problem.  You can have a upholstery company put anchors into the fabric from the underside - fixes the problem.

Just stop talking.

Do you disagree with my assessment of Artforz?

If you want to go to Google I can get you a pass.

Do you disagree with my fix to your chair issue?

You get so riled up so easily.  I gave you props on your 4rth of July pic and made it my new desktop  Grin
330  Other / Off-topic / Re: Newegg Now Accepting Bitcoins. Wow! on: July 05, 2014, 09:39:10 PM
still questionable if they sell the bitcoins right after they acquire them..

They use a money converter like Bitpay or Coinase to handle the transaction.  They are effectively stealing funds away the major credit cards.  The real benefit on their end will be realized when you can swap international currencies (currently they only allow BTC payment in the US it looks like).

Don't read below if you're scared of the cold hard truth:
Welp I guess I'm not reading whatever was below

Here, I'll soften the blow for you: Dank has been seeing too much Men in Black, the movie. Tongue

Dank sees stuff even with his eyes closed.  He does not need visual stimuli to see things - just a good hit apparently.

334  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The mining process...to buy or not to buy..... on: July 05, 2014, 08:48:54 PM
While the new rig will eat a little into current profits it won't deplete them. Then after your current hashing power has paid for the new rig you'll be hashing more power and getting a quicker return, replenishing those lost profits. Several ways to look at it I guess. Didn't want to start a debate, but just how other miners mentally figure out if it's worth to buy a new rig or not. I'm pretty sure there are lots of miners here that have bought gear knowing it would never ROI, but with the help of their current hashing power overlook that and move forward.

I guess what you are trying to say is that miners who have made a profit in the past have enough capital to waste on buying more current miners.  Yes this is true.  Ultimately it is a bad decision since you are throwing away your income to the hardware vendors.
335  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: pool or no pool on: July 05, 2014, 08:44:35 PM
profit depends on bitcoin price, mining difficulty, hardware cost

use the above calculator with your numbers and you can get an idea about your profit

Profit does not depend on bitcoin price.  If you're depending on the price you could simply buy the BTC directly and wait on it.

Profit depends on mining more BTC during the useful life of the miner than the cost of the miner (in terms of BTC). Almost every miner available will be a loss.

Even if Bitcoin goes to $10k USD you will still be at a loss considering you could have received more coins buying them than mining.

This is even with the consideration of free electricity.
336  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer S3 - Profit is Impossible on: July 05, 2014, 08:41:25 PM
As long as BTC goes up, you can certainly make a profit.  You just have to buy with fiat (i.e., either convert fiat to BTC and buy antminers, or buy antminers and then buy back the BTC with fiat).  If you just buy with BTC you already have, it will be difficult.

That's not really making a profit.  That's gaining more fiat based on the exchange rate.

You need to compare how much BTC the miner costs currently as opposed to how much the miner can mine during it's useful life.  Almost every miner will currently return a loss.
337  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2014-07-04 Bloomberg.com - Bitcoin Faces Regulatory Backlash as EU Tells Banks.. on: July 05, 2014, 10:22:48 AM
It's like it was written at 2AM with beer flowing through the veins.  I'm surprised they didn't pin 9/11 attacks on BTC
338  Other / Off-topic / Re: Ergonomic Chairs on: July 05, 2014, 09:06:52 AM
What is the price of Herman Miller?
Mine was $1.2k - the executive model.

Apple computer. No thanks. But this chair is very good in my opinion.

don't be silly. apple computer for the win. roll with style and quality bro.

Style?  You picking up your date riding on the iMac?

When your PC becomes part of the decor you have too much money.  If you have money to burn, hide the PC entirely and install a movie studio or dance floor... or for you maybe a waterbed with lava lamp  Grin

Back on topic, tempurpedic makes some decent chairs that are as good as HM and cost less.  I got an almost new one on clearance at Staples for $150 and it feels nicer with foam than my $560 leather/burled wood one does.
Yes. I cruise with my iMacs. Pick up all the chicks from coast to coast.

You need to learn to appreciate quality and not raw specs like a geek.

Lol quality from Macs that are assembled in the same facility as 30 other products.  You want stuff done right, you do custom bullet runs.  Gotta pay the price to control the dice.

Damn you're dumb. Just delete your account.

You need to learn to appreciate a little tongue-in-cheek comedy.  Don't be hating because you're late to the party in 11/2013 and missed out on the BTC/LTC run.  If you're going to post a yacht pic, make sure it's your own (not Steve Jobs').  Guess the Audi/BMW will have to suffice for now.  Kiss

I should get the Helium joke but I'm not following it.  I know Helium is He, Hell ...too much work.

Helium is an inert gas which does not chemically react with other elements,  hence, He does not react.

Ahh, it clipped off my screen and I didn't see the "doesn't react" part.  I fail.
