3281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LTC][Pool][PPLNS] - ltc.kattare.com - burnside's Litecoin Mining Pool on: March 11, 2013, 04:14:16 AM
So, I just installed a Radeon HD 6950 into my main machine. Its core clock is 800MHz, and the memory clock is 1200MHz. So, I believe this card should theoretically do quite well mining (at least 200kh/s). I managed to get my Reaper set up for my laptop, and even though I'm pretty familiar with the program, it hard boots everytime I launch reaper. I can't even get reaper to start and keep my computer on, so now I'm using CGMiner, and instead of hardbooting, I'm getting 100% stales. I have the latest AMD Catalyst drivers.

Here is my cgminer.conf
Code:
{
"pools" : [
{
"url" : "http://ltc.kattare.com:9332",
"user" : "*********",
"pass" : "*********"
}
]
,
"intensity" : "1",

"worksize" : "64",
"kernel" : "phatk",
"lookup-gap" : "0",

What I've noticed is when I turned the workload up to 128 or 256, it hardboots upon initialization. By lowering the workload down to 64, I was able to at least get a hashrate and no hardboot, however the stale rate is incredibly high, usually 80+% if not 100%.

I'm trying to play with some variables, but I've no clue which ones do what. Also, is there a way to input commands to the CGMiner console?
Any have any idea what I might be doing wrong, or maybe a thread that could point me in the right direction?

Mine are stock core and under clocked memory as well as under volted. Intensity 17, worksize 256 -g 1 -E 1
I get consistent 391+ Kh/s per card.
Not sure what the issue is for you. The stale rate is high ATM but Burnside's on it.
3282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Building new rigs now? on: March 11, 2013, 03:02:28 AM
did you mine bitcoin before, if not then litecoin is so much harder to mine. You will be in a steep learning curve

I had no problems with it. Why was it such a learning curve for you?

this is ridiculous! attn mods - there is no super obvious details about these restrictions. I've been a member for a while now and gave up trying to find why i couldn't post. ended up finding this section from a google search and then finding another post from another person asking why they cant post.... maybs put it in the registration? or am i just blind?

Newbie Restrictions, at the top of the page.

"Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have spent 4 hours online and have made 5 posts (new topics or replies).

If you have really good posts, you can post a request for preemptive whitelisting in the appropriate topic.

Also:
- Newbies cannot upload their own avatars.
- You must have made one post in order to send PMs.
- You need 10 posts to put a link in your signature.

Note that it may take up to 10 minutes for your PM or posting permissions to be granted. (The system automatically checks every 10 minutes and promotes people as appropriate.)"

I just got a 5550 in the mail from a friend.

I am trying to get it to mine...

Its NOT working... CGminer crashes... CG miner says its a Hardware issue or a driver issue.

I check with GUIminer and its got issues too... it freezes apon boot.

I remove the catalyst 13.1 drives completly and then I can open GUIminer, so I know its an issue with Cataalyst or something...

anyone have pointers?

Very low hash rate on that GPU, and it's not worth messing with. But if you must torture it, try an older driver version.

How much older? I am a ATi/AMD virgin

Start with 12.4 and see where that gets you.

Is it actually 3000 hashes per second? whats my profit? thanks

Roughly 85 LTC per day at current difficulty. Profit is minus your electricity and investment if any.
3288  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: MASTER'S SCAMMER LIST on: March 08, 2013, 09:02:39 PM
"In MPT and TF's case, it is clear that the case belongs to the 2) realm. However, to make it clear and unbiased, both parties have to be under scrutiny, which is not in this case where only TF's name is in the 'list'. "

The burden of proof lies with the person who is providing the goods or services. MPT has been on the scammer list in the past and has been removed, because he proved to be trust worthy.

TF is the one who has the ability to quickly and easily resolve this issue and has chosen to pretend that he is beyond reproach.

Burden of proof is on the accuser.

You obviously have never owned a business or been involved in a legal dispute about services or undelivered/ unusable products.

How old are you, 16? I have had several cases in small claims court accusing someone of breaking an agreement, both verbal and written. In each case I had to prove the agreement was broken and that I was damaged in some way. The judge told us both I had to prove my claims. Simply Google: "burden of proof in small claims court".
We aren't talking Paypal law where you can falsely file a charge back and get away with it. That was the point to an arbitrator, listen to both sides evidence and make a decision, not a list or poll.
You need to step off your "master's" list as you have clearly proven you have no clue what you are doing. It is also becoming clear you have some sort of agenda here, you are not interested in fairness or justice, only "Polls and Lists".

KWH, what is wrong with the bitcoin community trying to be vigilant against scams?  That is what this thread is.  I would venture to say that people who have a personal axe to grind against a particular bitcoin community member are in the minority.  I would rather say that people who make these types of posts or lists have probably been scammed, or what they perceive to be scammed in some way, plus, they are interested in policing the bitcoin community to prevent a lot of unneeded stress and loss.  It is better to err on the side of caution since we are dealing with what most bitcoin members would consider money; bitcoin.  The irreversible nature of btc payments makes the community rather susceptible to scams and it is in our best interest to police it ourselves.

I have no issues with a list as long as the one posting said list appears impartial and it's there to warn the community.  sublime5447  is not impartial. Have you not read through the whole thread? Please do so if you have not. Tomatocage's list is fine with me as he appears impartial without some agenda.
I have no idea what TF plans to do, that's up to him but as it stands now it's not been proven he is a scammer. This is a business deal gone south, he said/he said, this is why an arbitrator was suggested. Using this "master's list" to try to strong arm someone is absurd at best. Ask yourself, why do we need another list that mirrors an already in place list?

So a loan is hard to come by. How would a person raise bitcoin for a business?

Start by reading: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=97214.0
Bank loans are a good place to start. Family, Friends are good too. Perhaps sell some stuff to raise the cash?
Low post count and asking for a loan raises many red flags.
3292  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer Trade Fortress on: March 07, 2013, 01:06:31 PM
Also, make sure to send an anonymous tip to the FBI for money laundering Smiley

I have no respect for people like MoneyPakTrader who scam using scammer accusations. It's like false rape accusations.
When and how MoneyPakTrader.com scammed TradeFortress?
I'm starting to think you're a sock puppet.
I'm sure you think of everyone disagreeing with you as a sockpuppet, right? Especially when you're trying to earn from TradeFortress's money?

There's so many people trying to take advantage of each other - not just in the bitcoin economy. This 'accusation' hits close to home for me - a year ago, I did significant design work for a friend of a friend. After a few months, she wanted the money back because she didn't like what I made. Being that we haven't done it formally, I just shrugged and refunded her under the condition she won't my work, but a bit later I check her website and she hired someone to recreate what I did.

The same situation is happening here - MoneyPakTrader.com appears to be wanting to find another developer due to the bitcoin price rally. The fact that MoneyPakTrader wants a full refund makes me know his true intentions.

Had this happen to me as well, why I am skeptical. Add to that the the constant ultimatums in the forum for refunds. At least give it time to get sorted. I reserve my judgement until all the facts that can be made clear are made so.

I'm starting to think OP would be Micon's best friend. This list is useless as the only valid entries are copied out from Tomatocage's list, and the additional entries are a piece of joke.

Best  post of this thread.

Does anyone else see the irony of this thread being started by sublime? I am not an educated psychologist, but it seems to me that sublime and dank suffer from the same mental condition. It would take a great deal to convince me that they aren't the same person.  As such, I would advise against investing in whatever scheme he's trying failing to establish a rep to set the stage for.

You are not alone in your thinking.
3295  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help im a noobie. on: March 07, 2013, 12:34:17 AM
Oh ok. So your saying it would just ruin my laptop? Is there any other way to get bitcoins? I've done a couple of those stupid websites that give out insignificant amounts of bitcoin but is there really anything or anybody that can give me some?

In case you haven't been keeping up, they are worth quite a bit these days, and not many will just hand out cash to strangers. You can buy them through different exchanges such as Mt. Gox. There are a few that will sell you small amounts of BTC but use good judgement in buying. Search around the buy/sell boards.
3296  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help im a noobie. on: March 07, 2013, 12:23:38 AM
You won't get but a trickle if it worked perfectly. In fact, all you will really accomplish is burning up your laptop for a penny or three.
IMO, I wouldn't torture your hardware. I suggest buying coins or if you really must attempt mining, buy cheap mining rig.
Good luck!
3297  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTB] $40 MTGOX Voucher with PayPal on: March 07, 2013, 12:12:43 AM
Any and every PayPal payment is reversible, if you claim you are a victim of a crime.

Well, looks like I'm reduced to using eBay unless a trusting soul will escrow.

You would have to be willing to wait a very long time as the payment can be reversed months later. That's why many won't touch PP.
3298  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTB] $40 MTGOX Voucher with PayPal on: March 06, 2013, 06:03:22 PM
Aren't payments sent as gifts irreversible? I had an offer to escrow for me last time I posted a similar thread (with Amazon payments)

If the gift was funded through CC, yes, it's reversible.
3299  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: MASTER'S SCAMMER LIST on: March 06, 2013, 01:39:44 PM
I am not in control of it. The community makes and verifies the claims.

Then take tradefortress off the list.
Everyone who does stuff like this turns out to be a troll and/or abuse the power the community places in them. Micon is just one example, there are many others.

How do we know we can trust you to be responsible with a list like this?

It might be to late for this one. He said he wanted to make a list of confirmed scammers and the power to make judgment calls has gone to his head and he keeps trying to inject himself deep into discussions. I flipped sublime off ignore to see what kind of drama he was going to stir with this and I'm probably going to hit the button again.

With the total lack of power invested in me I dub this: "The Ignored Scammers and Drama List Similar to Tomatocage's List"

A list of scammer tagged people would be useful. This started with a similar list, added a more pretentious title, and now he's yet another unelected representative of the community.

That's why I only stickied Tomatocage's list. I find that his list is the least biased of all, and he does not have a personal agenda to push other than making scammers work harder.
I am not in control of it. The community makes and verifies the claims.

Then take tradefortress off the list.
This +1.
