lol, if I could find a partner prepared to match the stakes and I'd have to go into training first, fancy a hand or two?

Cool, I'd be happy to commit to buying or even pre-ordering at least 25, probably more, if you did decide to make them and if they had individual serial numbers from a limited edition I'd be all over an auction for the lower numbers

I have asked BTCC in the past if they'd consider making a 1 BTC poker chip, just thought I'd mention it again here as they're reading and others may show support for this idea, it seems kind of missing to only go up to 500 Bits chips, btw those are all sold out too & the rolls of 20 x 500 Bits as well, so plenty of demand for the series.
1 BTC is quite a large denomination for a poker chip... We're not sure if there would be so much interest. After all, given the appreciation of BTC prices, I doubt anyone out there is really using our Bitcoin Chips to play poker! If we made one, what color would you suggest? (We've been following the color schemes of Las Vegas casino chips for our series.) Another important question: Would you still want to see newly minted "coinbase" bitcoins (with no transaction records) in the chips? or would it be okay to send generic BTC transactions into them? thanks, Bobby Many thanks for replying, I'm happy with generic BTC transactions to fund them & my choise for colour would be yellow as in most $1,000 chips. https://www.google.com/search?biw=1163&bih=536&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=poker+chip+colors+%241000&oq=poker+chip+colors+%241000&gs_l=psy-ab.3...40735.43370.0.44113.6.6.0.0.0.0.138.726.0j6.6.0....0...1.1.64.psy-ab..0.2.250...0j0i30k1j0i24k1.0.dpj0if8Yrjk#imgrc=_Or better still orange as in some $10,000 chips, as it's a popular colour for bitcoin. Though orange may be too similar to the 1k & 5k Bits chips: Gold is another option, embedded diamonds optional ;-) Plus now that you had such a success with the silver S-Series ones a 24k gold G-Series would be cool, maybe launch if/when BTC gets to $10k.

Just wanted to throw this out there. If anyone has an extra that they want to unload please pm me Ty. I did get a few extras from their regular stock before they all sold out, not sure if I will sell any though as I've never sold any of my physicals, but if you're still looking in say May next year then drop me a PM and we'll see if we can work something out. 1Bd5911Rek31JwkzrwNdbK9yNZgjp3Cgzq Otoh 30.30 BTC Paid Awaiting the receipt/confirmation of order from BTCC, will edit post when I get it...

Any news on Ledger! Still great news, just ordered mine. Insane that we raised over 20k euro's in just a couple of days. VIA community is strong!
I think it takes some time to get all the proper information over to the ledger team and have them integrate it. I cant wait myself, and am surprised at how quick the funds were raised. This community has some good backing. What are those news with Ledger actually about? What does that mean for Viacoin? Sorry, not too deep into that stuff. They're integrating Viacoin into Ledger Wallet, which is a hardware wallet used to store cryptocurrencies. This means that Viacoin will have hardware wallet support for storage and safekeeping! Oh I see. I always thought that this is available to almost any coin No it is not, Ledger and other hardware wallets support very few coinsand not too hard to get. It is hard to get, we had to raise $20,000 to make it happen, though we did do that in like 24 hrs or something by just donationsVery cool though to get an extra option for safekeeping. It isn't just some other option, it is the ideal way to 100% safely store VIA in an hardware wallet.

... great to hear that OTOH btw what is market making? is it like having large amounts of coins? i got 250k VIAS and would be interested too
cheers
Yep, it's basically committing to the Exchange that you will put up a bunch of bids and asks on their order book, say 50 BTC worth of each either side of the spot price, maybe 1 BTC at 1% away each side, 2 BTC at 2% etc or whatever you're happy with, in order to provide liquidity for the Exchange and anyone wishing to trade there. Sometimes they may offer you a lower, or zero, commission rate for doing this as well.

Ah yes, many thanks for the reminder, it was this post, I can't remember if I asked them about adding VIAcoin back then but will do so now anyway, finger's crossed: btw, I heard from my BTCC contact yesterday that they'll be adding DASH and some other Alts in a few months, I must ask them to make sure that VIA is on the list.
"Hi Otoh,
I apologize for the late reply. We haven't introduced DASH and the other alts on our exchange, but we're planning to do so over the next months. I'll let you know once we do.
...."
Edit, just checked, I had asked them back then as they'd asked which I'd be able to do some Alt market making on when they listed a few & I've now sent a reminder.

Posted this question about a week ago, but I ended up deleting it because I thought I'd fixed it (I hadn't)...
Basically, I tried running a full node (QT), but syncing was acting weird. There was loads of network activity showing on Windows task manager, and Via's built in network monitor was showing 20GB+ downloaded. The blockchain folder was showing much less than this (can't remember how much now) and the wallet was still stuck on 3 years behind.
This was after running the wallet for a few hours.
So, can anyone tell me what was going on there, and how to remedy the situation?
I'll give it another try later, but thought I'd ask in the meantime, in case anybody is familiar with this sort of issue.
Note: I've synced a number of wallets in the past without issue. It's not something that's brand new to me (only this issue is)
Cheers!
A few hours ago Romano released optimized and even cleaner wallets, which can be downloaded at viacoin.org#download then use cryptochainer to get a zip bootstrap of the blockchain:
http://cryptochainer.com/dir/?page_id=365 Edit, sorry, seems they used an outdated method so doesn't work, just have to download overnight or wait until someone posts a link to one... Great news re Segwit, once I've updated my wallet (which may take a while on this holiday connection), I plan to make another nice donation for this achievement. https://chainz.cryptoid.info/via/address.dws?VftnVwpiUx2jb2vL1MBQYe8s17YYKqQZER.htm

Like anything it's best to keep records yourself as Exchanges can and do fold and banks may close your accounts, maybe not every little thing, but certainly all fiat transfers in to exchanges, any non-trivial trades & profits/losses, plus expenses if you one day plan to cash out and deposit a decent amount in fiat to a bank in a place where you'd need to declare it as gains or income for tax purposes.
Otoh, thank you for being so transparent with the community, it is much appreciated. Your story is fascinating. If I may ask you two questions: 1/ Are you still buying viacoins at this price? 2/ At which market capitalization do you think VIA could be in a year from now? The last viacoins that I bought were on the 8th June @ 0.00025000 I am more than happy to buy the dips at the present price and if anyone wants to exit a mid to large position then just PM me for a P2P sale np. Re, future Market Cap, I've no idea, but just looking at the Via roadmap, hardware wallet / Segwit / LN / ANON are all huge events when they come through, so I'd say that it looking pretty rosy at the very least right now. In fact this chart looks like maybe a good time to buy coming up, I'm traveling atm and afk a lot so may or may not get around to it though (no BTC on Polo), greetings from Glastonbury & happy Summer Solstice!
