341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCR] Decred - Community Governance | Bitcoin Devs | Lightning Network on: September 13, 2019, 05:17:21 PM
I don't know about bittrex, but with the premine compounded by staking and from what I understand placeholder made a very large investment (now compounded by staking), I'd guess they would be close to being able to push votes through. I'm not saying the system is broken, I'm just not sure this is the best way to do governance on chain (if there is a best way).
342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCR] Decred - Community Governance | Bitcoin Devs | Lightning Network on: September 13, 2019, 08:58:32 AM
...
In case of a hard fork voting, the decred code does not allow the existence of 2 blockchains. The "defeated" blockchain "dies".
Hard fork happens automatically and takes everyone in the same direction.
It is impossible for a group to continue on the old blockchain and keep it alive.
It's impossible to happen at Decred what happened to ETH and BTC.
The devs took great care in developing this.
It is one of the main differentials of decred.

This is misleading, imo. If there's a contentious hardfork, the losing party can modify the codebase to allow their chain to continue. They're going to hardfork anyway. There's no magic protection against people making a one off or permanent change to the rules of the system to allow their form to live.

That's my point. There's nothing that can stop a determined minority from splitting away from the main chain. But with Decred, it might be the true community majority made up of small HODLERS who delegate their votes to pools.

With Decred it could be the devs and placeholder capital forcing through any change they want, and the more Decred poor 99.999% forking off as well.

Any plans for marketing? I see that your socail media communities have not yet been established. Not a lot of members yet.

lolwut

I mean, I do tell people not to buy Wownero pretty much anytime I discuss it. Is that marketing?

Is this thing minable? I have a farm running in China. Which algorithm do you guys use? PM me if you need this to be mined. I am open for suggestions.

No. Coins are distributed at the whim of one guy named Tony.

Nice FUD, but in order that to be true, he would need to have control of which transactions end up in Bitcoin block on Friday noon UTC.

This week it's based on bitcoin txs, next week it's whoever posts a pic of something round on insta, following week it's whatever he feels like. This thing went to shit when the distributor decided that he would do away with the initial distribution social contact, and it's gotten shittier and shittier the further Lord Almighty distributor has veered away from it. You can call it FUD but the only metrics that matter, price and engagement, have objectively fallen off a fucking cliff. Happy Friday  Smiley

Aren't you advocating that this situation needs to be changed at the same time when you are saying it is changing too much? Which one is it then? Should a distribution be left unchanged if it doesn't archive it's goal and should the distribution be written in stone even if it turns out to be hurting the project? Where are all those initial distribution social contract people, was that really a good distribution? If it was, then where are they? They just sit on their balls and that's it, no use of them for the project at all.

Do you understand that Obyte would stick to one distribution if it would find the one that works and wherever it works, the #ophoto campaign reached people, which WCGrid distribution probably didn't reach. More varied people than just hard-core hodlers is better for the project in a long run.

No, I'm saying he fucked it up and you can't put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

Alright, I'll put you both down... but I'm starting to notice a trend towards people wanting to remain anonymous while purchasing these notes, which is cool and all... but there's two problems:

1) People creating brand new accounts to buy notes:  Some people could just be creating more accounts in order to buy more than two.  I'm ok with the idea of people buying more than two, I just want to allow enough time for people in both the monero and collectible community to be able to reserve some notes.

2) People telling me they want to reserve notes but stay anonymous:  The problem lies with loading the notes and proving that I'm not the one that is doing the actual loading.  This problem is also true with the brand new accounts, because anyone (including me) could create an account and "buy" them/load them for other people.

Do people have any ideas on what to do to avoid any possible issues with this?

Burn em all and cancel the sale. Seriously though eventually they have to ship out, so at least to inconvenience people trying to buy more than two just don't let minerjones ship more than two to an address.

Howdy hoe!

I might as well ask here since its still bothering me..

A month back or so I was lucky to catch a moment while there was almost no hashing power on the wownero network and I managed to mine quite a few blocks on the cryptoknight.cc pool and supposedly earned many blockrewards that would be worth something now.

I dont know why the hashing power was so low, perhaps there had just been a fork or something had happened but I was getting almost all the blocks for the better part of a day.

To my distress I noticed that I had fucked up the wallet adress in the config-file copying there my haven wallet address, not the my wownero address.

Is there any way to retrieve those lost funds?

I am afraid there will not be one, but hey, sometimes you get lucky.

Many thanks,
doctor0c

sorry doc 0c, I don't think so
353  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [DCR] Decred speculation and price discussion on: August 31, 2019, 07:39:46 PM
who can begin to look beyond this fraudulent decred "airdrop"

How much was airdroped?  I wish I was more aware back then to claim some.

I think it was 4% of total supply. And you could register with any non-zero activity social media account - here, Twitter, t Reddit, etc - so not really sure how gembitz got doxxed, but he's clearly special, so I wouldn't put it past him.
354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [DCR] Decred speculation and price discussion on: August 30, 2019, 01:15:55 PM
Decred volume across exchanges is absolutely couch cushion change level. However, I don't think paying a market maker to try and provide liquidity is anywhere close to the correct answer. The project has just never really taken off in terms of popularity, and in my experience if a coin doesn't have a lot of momentum out of the gate and maintain and grow that momentum, it's very difficult to get the ball rolling again at a later date (although Decred is still in active development by some smart folks, to date I think this still holds true).

I guess I'm pretty bearish overall. Happy Friday!

What size is the blockchain up to now?
356  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] XAYA 🌟True Blockchain Gaming 🌟 - Decentralised Realities on: August 16, 2019, 08:55:55 PM
Does Xaya do open finances? Like is there a page showing total ICO rake, expenses, holdings, etc.?

Hi mate.

no it does not. All the ICO information is on the forum. and our CHI address is open for viewing (and untouched and will be for the foreseeable future).

expenses, holdings, etc - are not public. Typhon Ltd (Holding Company), and Autonomous Worlds Ltd (Trading) are private companies and we are not a foundation.

Thanks. Just curious about your guy's burn rate and holdings, since I'm presuming your revenue is basically zero at this point. Good luck getting off the ground.

Okay how does the 22nd at 9pm eastern look for everyone ?  From what I've been given, this should work for us all..

Does anyone have an issue with a fully open waiver wire, meaning no lock up times/days.  I've played in a few leagues that do this and I love it.  Makes it more competitive. If you're highly against it, speak up. If not, setting it up this way.

Edit- open waiver idea a no go.

That works for me.

Unrelated aside: floam I got two extra morono badges.
