341  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 📢 ₿ Bitcoin will replace Dollar? Even celeb venture capitalists are saying this on: February 03, 2024, 06:59:24 PM
The concept behind Bitcoin was to make a currency that didn't rely on governments or central banks.  Governments probably aren't too thrilled about something they can't control that could undermine their power and  a currency that cant be messed with or shut down and can't fund politicians' pet projects? I bet that freaks them out a bit!

Could Bitcoin totally replace the dollar? That's a long shot.  Governments arent just gonna hand over the keys to the castle.  They'll hold on tight to power as long as they can.  Still, maybe someday a decentralized currency like Bitcoin will be too big for them to stop.

Who knows!
342  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is the only currency that has grown the most!! on: February 03, 2024, 06:50:01 PM
As far as I know the price movements of Bitcoin and large altcoins are not much different, meaning that the price increases or decreases between them tend to be the same.

That's not quite right. Not all cryptocurrencies move in lockstep, despite what it may seem.  Sure, the big dogs like Bitcoin tend to set the overall mood in crypto markets.  When BTC crashes, almost everything else comes down with it.  But the altcoins? They often dance to the beat of their own drum thanks to their tiny market caps and some unique use-cases.  It's like when the recess bell rings - the big kids run off in a herd while the little tykes trip over their untied shoelaces along the way.  So next time the market takes a spill remember that not everything is sinking at the same rate and  the crappy altcoins might just surprise you.  Wink
343  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you a generous gamblers on: February 03, 2024, 04:18:33 PM
I think there's nothing wrong with being generous, as long as you're not overspending simply to impress somebody else.  That's probably smart when it comes to gambling or whatever.  Though, it's not fair to assume reasons behind another persons actions without knowing their full story.  Their motivations could come from honest kindness, wanting to help people out or just saying thanks in their own way.

Who's to judge? If people want to be generous, let them be!
344  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another health benefit of online gambling on: February 03, 2024, 03:38:50 PM
I get why your neighbor wants to gamble rather than worry about his health.  After being told to avoid groups cause he's sick, betting online probably sounds good.  At least he won't make his illness worse by being around folks.  But playing games ain't exactly health benefit, virtual or not.  Sure, staying home means fewer germs and hacking up a lung and  and yeah online keeps him away from catching something nasty.  But online casinos just want his money.  They dont care if he gets healthy.  So I don't see the health benefits either.  His health should still come first, not trying to win a jackpot.  If he's bored and wants a distraction, I feel that.  but risking his health to play some poker? Nah. and  Aint worth it.  He can find ways to entertain himself without leaving the house or being around strangers.  Read a book.  Stream a movie.  Video chat his grandkids.  Plenty of low-key activities that are safer for him than hitting the tables at the casino or betting shop.  He's gotta get his priorities straight and take this health stuff seriously.
345  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What remarkable thing have you achieved with the money you won from gambling? on: February 03, 2024, 03:18:04 PM
Your buddy's business plan seems neat, but... Can't say Id take the same road if I won the lottery or something.  Not that I think anyone who comes into serious cash is destined to be reckless with it - plenty of lottery winners and high rollers keep their heads on straight.  But blowing your winnings on a flashy new lifestyle ain't my definition of winning either.  I mean sure, having nice stuff doesn't make you a bad person and  it's just, whats really remarkable in life is different for everyone ya know? For me it'd be using that money to do something meaningful.
346  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Investment in gambling on: February 03, 2024, 12:24:45 PM
OP, I don't know in what state of mind you wrote your post, but there are some problematic assumptions that should be addressed.  Comparing speculative investing to gambling fails to capture key differences.  Unlike gambling, which is pure chance, investors make calculated risks aiming for long-term growth.  Additionally Ponzi schemes should not be viewed as merely risky ventures, as they exploit people's trust and lack transparency or sustainability.

Frankly, your post is a confusing mess. It seems like you've jammed three unrelated ideas into one incoherent jumble. Was there even a point you were trying to make? If so, it's completely lost in the translation – or lack thereof. Get your thoughts straight and try again, because this gibberish isn't worth anyone's time.
347  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin ETF really the best to hold? on: February 03, 2024, 11:54:38 AM
I dunno, just comes down to personal preference and priorities I suppose.  Whether you want simplicity or full autonomy.

If you've got investments with a big bank and just wanna add some Bitcoin to the mix, seems to me it'd be easiest to buy a Bitcoin ETF.  That way your Bitcoins just another holding - no extra hassle for you.

349  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are people still interested in bankroll investment ? on: February 02, 2024, 09:35:37 PM
Some casinos have done this kind of thing in the past, I remember seeing a list of them from a while back. But really, are there still casino platforms that offer this form of investment? I mean the old school type of investing directly in their bankroll and earning a commission based on their turnover?
350  Other / Meta / Re: If I'm Satoshi Nakamoto How do I prove it? on: February 01, 2024, 10:08:52 PM
Besides opening one of the wallets.

What do you mean by "besides opening one of the wallets"? Signing a message with one of the private keys is the most effective way to prove ownership and access to those keys.

Would an original Whitepaper doc be sufficient or do you think that there would still be critics?

Of course there would be skeptics. No one in their right mind would accept such evidence. How would you prove an "original whitepaper doc" anyway?

Well, if you are satoshi Nakamoto, then the first thing you can do is to send some donations to some accounts and crash the market, so that the price of Bitcoin can be lower.

That would be just plain stupid, wouldn't it?
351  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Viewpoint of a fan gambling on: February 01, 2024, 09:50:52 PM
I want to find out if there are individuals like me. What percentage of the gamblers in Bitcointalk are wagering and not wagering to their dearest star player, club and team?

Look, I can't say for sure how many people on here are in the same boat as you - feeling torn between team pride and that little gambling devil on your shoulder.  But let me tell you, you ain't alone! Something about the passion we feel for our teams mixed with the chance to make some dough makes betting against them mighty tempting and  whether that's terrifying or thrilling likely depends on the person.

Me? I bleed my teams colors through and through.  Putting money on them to lose just don't sit right with me.  But hey, to each their own! I know plenty of folks who throw down a friendly wager here and there even when their squad is playing.  For some, that rush is part of the fun.  At the end of the day, all that really matters is that you're getting your adrenaline pumping one way or another.
352  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: confiscation in the amount of $4400 on: February 01, 2024, 09:43:46 PM
Yes, I'm sorry, of course I'll edit it. So no one can tell me in this case what can be done to get at least part of the money back?

Maybe going to a third party mediator is still worth a shot if you really think Vave casino is in the wrong here.  Sites like AskGamblers handle disputes for sportbooks, so they might be able to help even though CasinoGuru won't since this isn't a casino issue.

Just understand that Vave casino has blown off complaints on CasinoGuru before without changing, so this might just be more hassle for you without getting your money back in the end.  But hey taking this thing public could at least warn others about the risk of getting scammed in the future if Vave keeps this up.

I wish I could give you an easy fix, but this crappy situation sucks and the options arent great and  in the end, only you can decide if it's worth your energy to keep fighting this.
353  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there anything else like bitcoin? on: January 31, 2024, 09:11:14 PM
What do you think is going to develop tremendously in the future?

Well, if we're not talking strictly about cryptocurrencies, I think AI and related technologies seem poised for huge growth over the next decade or so.  AI already seriously affects many industries, and I think this impact just keeps getting bigger down the road.

Self-driving cars and drones, virtual personal assistants, smart homes, greater automation of industry and agriculture... I have a feeling that we will finally experience the future we have only known from sci-fi novels and movies.
354  Economy / Economics / Re: Business/Entrepreneurship. on: January 31, 2024, 08:25:58 PM
Both starting a business and becoming an entrepreneur involve risks and require bravery.  However, entrepreneurs tend to take more risks developing unproven ideas while business owners work in established markets with some track record of success.

Business owners focus first on making money by selling products or services to customers.  Entrepreneurs prioritize creative problem-solving and innovation over profits.

Should you put your money into a startup company? Well, it depends on your appetite for risk and your faith in your talents to recognize a good idea when you see one.
355  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe visiting a seer or spiritual house could make you win a game? on: January 31, 2024, 07:48:09 PM
So I was wondering if there is any connectivity here, or do you believe such could happen in your own situation? Can you do such a thing to win? Have you had the experience of going to such places to seek predictions on how the outcome or results of games could be if they worked in your favor or not? Have you had anyone say or tell you such before and how their experience was?

Well, I haven't heard tell of any fortune tellers or prophets around these parts in quite some time.  Wink

Where I'm from, no one puts stock in prophets or fortune tellers anymore.  Folks gave up on those kinds of money-grubbing scams years ago.  These days, you'd have to be pretty gullible to let some huckster convince you they can see the future or something.  People nowadays are too skeptical for those nonsense claims from supposed psychics and mediums and whatnot.
356  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: confiscation in the amount of $4400 without any reason on: January 31, 2024, 06:47:55 PM
Sadly, I don't have much hopeful advice regarding Vave casino.  From what I've gathered after some research, there are credible concerns about potential shady practices by this gambling establishment.  Several disappointed customers have lodged complaints about difficulties receiving payouts or other issues when playing at Vave.  An industry review site that rates the safety and trustworthiness of casinos gave Vave an extremely low 2.3 out of 10 score.  That's the level of garbage and  for now, it seems wisest to steer clear of this casino until they can demonstrate tangible improvements in addressing these problems and providing fair transparent service to their patrons.  Though I wish I had better news to share, caution appears warranted here.

357  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: VPN - Differences between countries where gambling is legal and not on: January 31, 2024, 04:37:20 PM
Using a VPN is mostly about keeping your online stuff private.  That goes for anything you do on the internet, not just betting or gambling.  Even if gambling's totally legal where you live, you still got a right to privacy and  you probably don't want nosy people peeking in on what you're doing - whether its your folks, your boss, your internet company, the government...  A VPN keeps all those folks from snooping through your online data and stuff you're looking at.  It's about protecting your privacy, basically.
358  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hey Gamblers, Here's Some Questions for you. Would Love your Responses on them on: January 27, 2024, 10:31:18 PM
1. What's the most effective method for discovering a new online casino when you're seeking a change from your usual options?

Yes, Exploring the Bitcointalk or some other gambling-related forum is mostly the way I discover new online casinos.

2. How would you describe your overall satisfaction with any of the mentioned options?

Neutral

3. Would you recommend a beginner to follow a similar approach based on your personal experiences?

Yes. I'd definitely suggest new players try asking around on Bitcointalk first.  Much better than trustin some random casino review.  Those might just be ads in disguise!

4. In your opinion, should online casinos adopt corporate social responsibility practices? If yes, what specific initiatives would you like to see them undertake? If no, what is your reasoning behind it?

I wish online casinos would adopt more corporate social responsibility, but I'm skeptical it'll become mainstream.  Gambling's largely unregulated, prioritizing profits over ethical concerns.  Without external motivation, casinos lack incentive supporting CSR initiatives.

359  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why it's wrong to save vital information on your phone. on: January 27, 2024, 07:06:18 PM
For me, this feature is actually very helpful in protecting our important data so that it cannot be accessed by the inventor of our smartphone.

Yes, I think we can all agree that this feature is quite useful in cases where your smartphone is lost or stolen.  However, I'm not sure what it has to do with the inventor of our smartphone - or the manufacturer, I'm assuming you mean.
360  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the definition of a Gambler? Do you consider yourself as a Gambler? on: January 27, 2024, 06:40:49 PM
I don't see any problem when I play and I also wouldn't be upset if they called me a gamer. I don't see it as being offensive,
<...>

A "gamer" and a "gambler" are two different things.

Gamers like playing games for the fun and challenge, whether it's a video game, a board game, a card game or whatever.  They might play online against others or just for themselves, but they ain't risking cash.  Though, someone gambling is taking a chance at games like roulette and poker where winning or losing money is part of the action.
