Military experts from the Institute for the Study of War are vainly minding not their own business
Their business is literally analyzing armed conflicts around the world.  It's why they are called The Institute for the Study of War.

Prigozhin never even verbally criticized Putin, in Russia it is somehow not customary to bite the hand that feeds you. The mercenaries of the Wagner group either have a pro-Putin position, or are completely apolitical, more loyal to Putin than Wagner, only bodyguards from his personal guard. This is the only reason why Wagner could exist at all for so long, being outside the legal field (mercenarism in Russia is a criminal offense, Article 359 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

ps By Wagner, I mean the main core of the Wagner group, not including the former prisoners who temporarily joined it, recruited on six-month contracts specifically for the assault on Bakhmut.

Are you really trying to make the argument that Putin had Prigozhin pretend to stage an attempted insurrection that resulted in Russia losing control of it's military headquarters closest to the front line, have images of Russian helicopters exploding and highways being dug up to slow down the tanks rolling towards Moscow, was all part of Putins plan?  Have you considered what he promised in his speech Saturday morning, compared to what actually happened, and the fact he hasn't been seen since?

You think this is the kind of scenario that Putin would manufacture?

Quote
Revolt Raises Searing Question: Could Putin Lose Power?
Russians with ties to the Kremlin expressed relief on Sunday that Mr. Prigozhin’s uprising did not spark a civil war. But at the same time, they agreed that Mr. Putin had come off looking weak in a way that could be lasting.

Konstantin Remchukov, a Moscow newspaper editor with Kremlin connections, said in a telephone interview that what once had seemed unthinkable was now possible: that people close to Mr. Putin could seek to persuade him not to stand for re-election in Russia’s presidential vote next spring. With Saturday’s events, he said, Mr. Putin had conclusively lost his status as the guarantor of the elite’s wealth and security.

The idea that “Putin is in power and provides stability and guarantees security — it suffered a fiasco on the 24th,” Mr. Remchukov said. “If I was sure a month ago that Putin would run unconditionally because it was his right, now I see that the elites can no longer feel unconditionally secure.”

“Stability” was the Kremlin’s refrain amid the 2020 referendum that cleared the way for Mr. Putin to serve two additional terms, until 2036. And it is the security of the Russian state that Mr. Putin describes as his guiding motivation for invading Ukraine.

Even amid the 16-month-old war in Ukraine, the Kremlin has been focused on normalcy at home. Mr. Putin has resisted hard-line calls to declare martial law or to close the country’s borders. For the elite, the sting of Western sanctions has been compensated by the new business opportunities of Russia’s wartime economy and a domestic market suddenly free of competition from many Western businesses.

But Mr. Prigozhin’s challenge to the Kremlin’s authority this weekend upended that calculus. The leader of the Wagner paramilitary group, Mr. Prigozhin had his forces seize a Russian military headquarters in the south, then sent a column of troops north toward Moscow, vowing to enter the capital. The crisis was defused late Saturday, when Mr. Prigozhin agreed to pull back his forces in a deal that allowed him and his troops to avoid prosecution.

The immediate threat was averted. But in the process, Mr. Putin lost more than his reputation for providing stability: The fact that Mr. Prigozhin and his forces were not being punished punctured Mr. Putin’s reputation as a decisive leader who would not tolerate disloyalty.

That impression was compounded by reports from Russian military bloggers that Prigozhin forces had shot down Russian combat aircraft. Mr. Putin also called Mr. Prigozhin a traitor after he launched his insurrection — and after the mercenary chieftain questioned Mr. Putin’s very rationale for the war in Ukraine. Those transgressions seemed to melt away with the deal that ended the crisis.

Experts said this made Mr. Putin look less in control of the Russian state than previously known. And foreign adversaries were quick to seize on that theme.

So, seems that circus is over, Prigozhin ordered Wagner convoy to turn back and return to their camps. Lukashenko says that Prigozhin accepted his proposal after some negotiations, criminal case against Prigozhin also was dropped.
So, does it means that Putin reached agreement with terrorists and things will go on like nothing didn't happned. I just remind that during this rebellion Russian army lost six helicopters, transport plane and somehwere 10-15 troops.
Probably this photo summarizes things that happened in last 24 hours best:

BTW seems that this my post didn't aged badly and now it really looks like staged shit:
I have no idea how everything will end, maybe this story will have boring outcome, but my popcorn is ready.
I hope you appreciated the quality and scale of this performance. It turns out that in Russia they are also able to carry out complex and multi-pass psychological operations, and not on the Internet, but in the scenery of the real world. It remains to understand the purpose of this whole circus, during which more Russian planes and helicopters were shot down than Ukraine shot down from the start of the counteroffensive (it was easy, because Ukraine shot down nothing from the start of the counteroffensive).

I think that the main purpose of this performance was to identify a high-ranking mole in the Russian General Staff.

There are other, less expensive ways to find moles.
This makes more sense:

Quote
Suggestions that Prigozhin’s rebellion, the Kremlin’s response, and Lukashenko’s mediation were all staged by the Kremlin are absurd. The imagery of Putin appearing on national television to call for the end of an armed rebellion and warning of a repeat of the 1917 revolution – and then requiring mediation from a foreign leader to resolve the rebellion – will have a lasting impact. The rebellion exposed the weakness of the Russian security forces and demonstrated Putin’s inability to use his forces in a timely manner to repel an internal threat and further eroded his monopoly on force. Prigozhin’s rapid drive towards Moscow ridiculed much of the Russian regular forces – and highlighted to any and all security figures, state-owned enterprises, and other key figures in the Russian government that private military forces separate from the central state can achieve impressive results. Wagner’s drive also showcased the degradation of Russia’s military reserves, which are almost entirely committed to fighting in Ukraine, as well as the dangers of reliance on inexperienced conscripts to defend Russia’s borders. The Kremlin struggled to respond quickly in the information space and residents in Rostov-on-Don residents did not oppose Wagner and in some cases greeted them warmly – not inherently demonstrating opposition to Putin but at minimum acceptance of Prigozhin’s actions.[48] Finally, the Kremlin’s apparent surprise at Prigozhin’s move does not reflect well on Russia’s domestic intelligence service, the FSB. Prigozhin consistently escalated his rhetoric against the Russian MoD prior to his armed rebellion and Putin failed to mitigate this risk.[49] We cannot and will not speculate on the concrete impacts of Prigozhin’s rebellion and the Kremlin’s weak response and are not forecasting an imminent collapse of the Russian government, as some have done. Nonetheless, Prigozhin’s rebellion and the resolution of the events of June 23 and 24 - though not necessarily the Prigozhin/Kremlin struggle writ large - will likely substantially damage Putin’s government and the Russian war effort in Ukraine.

We could focus on Trump, and the relatively little amount of law breaking he might be doing in his big business operations. But shouldn't we be focusing on the big law breaking?

Yes.  Like stealing nuclear secrets and military plans and then trying to hide them from the government and lying about it.  Or trying to overthrow the government by organizing a violent insurrection and fraudulent electoral votes so he could stay in power after losing the 2020 election by 74 electoral votes and 7 million votes (LANDSLIDE), or the collusion with Russia during the 2016 campaign, or withholding aid to Ukraine that was approved by congress to use as leverage to get Ukraine to make up a sham investigation into the presidents political opponents son, or all the rape and sexual assault allegations.

If Hunter Biden were president, or even if he had an office in the White House, all the attention on him would be justified.

The dead whistleblower, who has been identified as the wife of former Burisma owner Mykola Lisin, who also died in suspicious circumstances during the Obama administration when vice president Joe Biden and his son Hunter were making a killing in

Hunter Biden made money in Ukraine from 2013 to 2018.  He joined the board of Burisma in 2014.

Mykola Lisin died in a car crash in 2011.

There's also still literally no evidence that Joe Biden was in any way involved in his sons firm.  None.

"But he bragged about getting that prosecutor fired": He insisted a corrupt prosecutor be fired.  As did Obama, and Merkle, and May, and the rest of the NATO leaders who wanted to support Ukraine but didn't want a Putin Puppet to divert the resources.

"But an email from Hunters laptop mentioned a 'Big Guy' and those messages where Hunter said his father was sitting next to him": The trump appointed investigator said himself that Hunter used his fathers name despite his father not being involved.

Doesn't matter if they were classified.  Here's the law he's being charged with for the 31 documents he refused to return, attempted to hide, and lied to the government about.

(e)Whoever having unauthorized possession of, access to, or control over any document, writing, code book, signal book, sketch, photograph, photographic negative, blueprint, plan, map, model, instrument, appliance, or note relating to the national defense, or information relating to the national defense which information the possessor has reason to believe could be used to the injury of the United States or to the advantage of any foreign nation, willfully communicates, delivers, transmits or causes to be communicated, delivered, or transmitted, or attempts to communicate, deliver, transmit or cause to be communicated, delivered, or transmitted the same to any person not entitled to receive it, or willfully retains the same and fails to deliver it to the officer or employee of the United States entitled to receive it;

In other words, if you have have government documents about nuclear capabilities of the US and foreign countries, and the government asks you to give them back, then tells you to give them back, then subpoenas you to give them back, you can either give them back or be indicted on federal charges.

Serious question: did you agree with Trump when he said these things:

What the information have they not declassified already, everything is declassified already even the UFO spaceships and the bodies of aliens.  Grin

Nuclear capabilities of the US.
Nuclear capabilities of a foreign country.
US military contingency plans.
Foreign military activity.

You should really just read the indictment yourself.

Trump seems to have tried to avoid giving them back and even got one if his lawyers to lie to the FBI and the national archaics about his having them.

To be fair, he tried to get a lawyer to lie, but couldn't.  So he had one of his staff (the one that also got indicted) bring him a bunch (64) of boxes so he could go through them and take out the good stuff.  Then he had the staff member return about 30 boxes to the storage room before his lawyer searched the room for classified documents.  But first, he asked another lawyer to bring a bunch of the boxes to his hotel room, go through them, and take out anything that "looked real bad for us".

Even after all that, the lawyer who didn't know what Trump had been up to found a few dozen classified documents which were turned over to the FBI.

Looks like Trump was legal in keeping the records and documents, after all. The 'Presidential Records Act' allows the President to keep any government records as personal records, as long as he removes them from government while he is in office. This was adjudicated to be so in a case where Clinton did this.

Bill Clinton kept an audio journal in his sock drawer.

When Republicans found out they sued him for it, claiming the tapes belonged to the office.

A judge ruled that the personal journal was a personal record, which was defined in an ammendment to the Presidential record act.

Here's the definition
Quote
§2201. Definitions
Quote
(3) The term "personal records" means all documentary materials, or any reasonably segregable portion therof,2 of a purely private or nonpublic character which do not relate to or have an effect upon the carrying out of the constitutional, statutory, or other official or ceremonial duties of the President. Such term includes—

(A) diaries, journals, or other personal notes serving as the functional equivalent of a diary or journal which are not prepared or utilized for, or circulated or communicated in the course of, transacting Government business;

(B) materials relating to private political associations, and having no relation to or direct effect upon the carrying out of constitutional, statutory, or other official or ceremonial duties of the President; and

(C) materials relating exclusively to the President's own election to the office of the Presidency; and materials directly relating to the election of a particular individual or individuals to Federal, State, or local office, which have no relation to or direct effect upon the carrying out of constitutional, statutory, or other official or ceremonial duties of the President.

Does anyone feel "the world is now safer thanks to Trump"?
You gotta love the irony in US being worried about another country maybe building a single nuke while US has thousands of nukes and other kinds of WMDs and has a history of using them regularly Cheesy

Is that really how you think it works?  That Iran is just trying to build one single nuke and it's silly to worry about it because it's just one nuke and the US + allies have thousands?

I'm honestly curious if this is actually something you learned from somewhere or if you just kinda of said it because it seemed like a good argument and you just didn't really think about it.

The point was to keep them a year or two away at all times from having enough required to create a weapon so that f they broke the deal,
Wrong.
JCPOA was targeting was a start and was targeting a lot more than "nukes". It was targeting or hoping to target Iran's defensive capabilities. Long story short they were hoping to do what they did to Iraq, to Iran too. First sanctions, then disarming then famine followed by an oil for food enforcement then more sanctions and disarming and finally invasion. All because Iran has the most amount of fossil fuels (oil+gas) in the world.

Iran's genius was to accept JCPOA but make it only about nuclear topic. They disabled everything like the nuclear power plants, the nucleology (nuclear medicine) programs and a lot more but improved the shit out of Iran's defensive capabilities.
That is why Trump pulled out of JCPOA. Because it wasn't serving its purpose which was to weaken Iran's defenses to invade and take control of that sweet sweet fossil fuel fields.
So Iran was genius to make it only about 'nuclear topic', but I'm wrong because it actually wasn't about preventing them from getting a nuclear weapon?  Or am I wrong about the timeline?  Either way your points can't all be true.

They disabled everything like the nuclear power plants, the nucleology (nuclear medicine) programs and a lot more but improved the shit out of Iran's defensive capabilities.

Wrong.

You should read the actual agreement instead of regurgitating rhetoric.  Here's the section about cooperation regarding Irans Civil Nuclear programs (energy production, medical, water treatment, research, etc.) https://2009-2017.state.gov/documents/organization/245322.pdf

It is tricky, though, because in order to pardon himself he first needs to be declared guilty or declare himself to be guilty, it would be a very bizarre and unprecedented scenario.

Actually he doesn't need to plea guilty or be convicted.  Nixon was pardoned after he resigned without even being charged.

Interesting thing though: Nixons Vice President, Spirrow Agnew, was even more corrupt than Nixon and was indicted on a bunch of charges for taking bribes while in office (he had a very loyal base, called it a witch hunt, vowed to save the country from the corrupt DOJ prosecutors, etc...) .  But the DOJ knew Nixon was likely going down soon and were worried about what would happen if a corrupt politician became president while in jail/on trial or awaiting sentencing, so they offered him a deal: Resign as Vice President and all charges dropped.  He took it.

I was just wondering. If by some chance, Trump becomes ineligible to run for POTUS 2024, what would be his reaction. Would he ask his supporters to boycott the elections (which is a very stupid move in my opinion), or will he nominate someone else such as Ivanka in his place? Trump is so unpredictable and I really can't predict what he will do if something like that happens. If he goes for the first option, then there will be massive civil unrest in the United States, because a significant share of the population are still loyal to Trump.

I don't think there's any realistic scenario where Trump ends up ineligible to run.  It doesn't matter if he's mid-trial, been convicted, or even in prison.  Pretty sure the only way an eligible person can be made ineligible to run for office if they are impeached and convicted by Congress by a majority of the House and 2/3 of the Senate..  Trump was impeached twice and acquitted by the Senate twice.

I've seen quite a few photos of DeSantis flags next to literal nazi flags, I'm not sure why they're becoming so popular in the US

I imagine the whole "anti-woke, anti diversity, racists aren't a real problem, it's the people calling out racists that are the problem" platform is very attractive to Nazis.

Trump had the ultimate authority to declassify the documents in question. It would be stupid for Trump to not declassify a document he intended to bring to his home -- it is trivial for him to declassify a document.

As president, Trump has the authority to declassify documents as he chooses. The documents in question were declassified. The question of if this was appropriate is a political one, not a legal one. Luckily, Trump will likely be on the ballet in two years, so voters can decide if this was appropriate or not. Both Biden and Obama have/had similar authority currently/when he was president.

It appears that the DOJ intended to "prosecute" Trump via leaks to the friendly press by leaking either inaccurate information or information that is taken out of context. An example of this to date includes leaks to the Washington Post suggesting that some of the "classified" documents in Trump's home were related to "nuclear" secrets.

What do you think? Has Biden weaponized the DOJ against his political opponents? Has the DOJ and FBI lost all credibility?

Well...we have an update and tons of answers with a 49 page federal indictment and 31 federal charges against Trump, mostly violations of the espionage act.

It turns out that the Washington Post was correct.  Document #19:

The specific location the documents were stored in was the same location that classified documents were stored in when Trump was President. The entire compound is under 24/7 secret service protection, and the location in question is likely more secure than many SCIFs, including the one in Hilary Clinton's closet. There was no urgency in getting the documents back. There is no reason why the government couldn't have sought to enforce the subpoena.

Actually, the documents weren't stored in a SCIFF.

They were stored in a few different places while Trump directed his people to move them around a few times while they were hiding the documents from the United States and lying about it.

And we've got pictures:

So God won't punish him if he goes to prison?

356  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Iran is about the get enough Uranium for a nuke thanks to Trump's "great deals" on: June 10, 2023, 03:29:39 AM
If memory serves me correctly the inspections for the previous deal were nothing more than a complete hoax.  Iran was enriching uranium anyway and we were looking like fools allowing them to do it right under out watchful eye.  Rather than let this continue, Trump used this as a way to broker peace, which he did.  Now instead of us being terrible policeman while our enemies broke our laws under our nose and prepared to attack us as the evil suppressive empire, we are at peace with them and watching them publicly setup operations.  When the time comes, a press of a button could eliminate their nuclear programs now, instead of them being clandestine operations built to undermine our inspections.

Your version is probably what the media will push though.

He said it, and he did it: This is the new underground uranium enrichment facility built by Iran. Under a mountain, several accesses and deep enough so that even the most penetrating missiles and bombs cannot hit it. Iran is about to gain nuclear capability in months if not weeks. Does anyone feel "the world is now safer thanks to Trump"?

Surely you didn't think the JCPOA would keep Iran from producing enriched Uranium? They wanted the deal for the cash and to lift sanctions. They were never going to stop their nuclear weapons program.

What politicians don't want to say is that a regime change is required in Iran. Those get messy and expensive. Instead, they'll throw cash at the problem and hope the problem goes away. Trump tried sanctions to try and collapse Iran, it didn't work. Taking out the Iranian regime would be the only feasible solution.

Not that I think either of you are interested in the reality of the situation, but the inspections were to ensure that they only ever had small amounts of enriched Uranium for non military reasons like power and research.  The point was to keep them a year or two away at all times from having enough required to create a weapon so that f they broke the deal, they would still need a year or two to become a threat.  Also, the cash was there's to begin with.  It was from an order for US Fighter jets that were never delivered - collecting interest since the 70s when they took the hostages.

Yes Trump is indicted...again ...twice (and counting). I actually think he maybe eventually spending some time at the Stoney Lonesome...wouldn't that be some serious karma?
So lets see...
-Impeached not once but twice, during his laughable failed presidency.
-Indicted for filing false business records in the state of New York.
-Found liable in a civil case for sexual assault, $5 million damages and now being sued again.
-Soon to be indicted for election interference in Georgia.
-Soon to be indicted for planning and trying to execute a failed violent insurrection (indictment #3 or $4)
-And now federally indicted for stealing and not returning classified docs and possible (probable) obstruction of justice.

And he is the republican front runner for potus 2024 election.

You can't make this shit up.

He seems to be taking it pretty well...

The crazy part is how many people are still buying his bullshit and parroting back his rants.  Probably millions of Americans that have been brainwashed into not believing anything they read unless it's coming from a MAGATard that honestly think this is happening simply because Trump took a few documents with him on the way out and Biden did the same thing.

Pretty much any other Republican candidate would be a favorite in the general election (besides Pence I suppose), but it's looking like they're going to go with the guy that already lost to Biden and this time he will be wearing an ankle bracelet...

Smart play is obviously work out a deal with DeSantis, endorsement for a pardon.

They could at least make a disclaimer that certain countries are not eligible to participate.
I think it's not ok to just say send your email and phone number to this address to be able to win.

For me this is just a data collection event where half the people have 0 chance in the first place.

Also, "winners" are always picked before hand as their names are in a bag to pull out from. Still the mod in the chat during the stream motivates people to send their information via email to have a chance to win.

Could be handled much better and more professional.

They usually contact winners before stream and I think the eligible user list has been picked by Drake's team.
Mostly users from Canada and Brazil win this giveaway but no idea how they report transparency to other users.
Btw, this time they reduced the usual Drake stream budget to $1mln.

Drake stream is not real, it’s all stake employees that win or people that no one has ever heard of. He will be streaming from Montreal this time. I personally know people who run the drake stream and the real estate agents who have given all the streamers places to live.

I have already been told that upper management of stake tells them the usernames of people to pick. Don’t expect much. I did hear they will be doing a drop of $100 per claim but that’s about it. Happy for drake that he’s just stealing that scumbag Edward cravens money.

Anyone who thinks the drake stream is fair and legitimate is delusional. Weekly raffle is more legitimate than the drake stream and that’s saying a lot since that’s also fake and predetermined.
Just curious about proofs!
How can you be so sure? Drake doesn't need the money coming from Stake, both parties have a specific interest in this contract. Just a win-win situation, IMO.

Rigtards like that guy are not capable of having a rational discussion.
