341  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it time now to use Premium VPN when playing in the casino? on: March 02, 2024, 03:01:50 PM
I wouldn't do that; some gambling sites are also strict with using VPN as that would not reveal our correct location. With the advent of KYC nowadays, the implementation is already strict, and they want us to provide our real location while we are gambling. Using a VPN may only put our account in trouble, or scammer gambling sites may use it against us and claim that we have violated the Terms of Service.

If the problem is only because you might have a friend gambling on the same casino or gambling site that might use your IP, then you should restrict your IP for your own usage only. You can avail a static IP from your ISP and make it strictly for your personal transactions, particularly in gambling.

...
It's true, I wasn't quite sure of the wording myself, which is why I added the savings. It's more liquid.

Wasting savings with gambling Is a big big mistake. I don't know if its a general rule get a divorce that bad mistake (love Is blind) but for sure its not a basic issue.
I have a general rule. Gambler only with money/ values that you are ready to trash as rubbish. If you have not these...you have not Money for gambling Wink

Same with me, I would not directly think of divorce as a consequence of the problem. Love is not blind, though; if we love the person, we are willing to forgive. After all, that's just money; together, we can earn that money loss, but we have to sacrifice, as that is the consequence of the wrong action. When you are married, you become one, so a mistake of your wife could be your loss too. There's nothing to do but to forgive and start over again.
343  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does Technical Analysis Really Work? on: March 01, 2024, 11:58:46 PM
Eumm.. it doesn't seem to work for most coins, especially coins with low liquidity. Even for Bitcoin, it is only suitable for long-term analysis, because until now I believe more in market manipulation than in technical analysis. It's a little crueler, but it's true, no matter how clever we are at drawing charts, believe me it won't guarantee good accuracy in the short term.

In bullish and bearish moments such as high candlesticks in one day, it is really not in control of the picture on the chart. But more often it is present because something special is happening at that time.
Relying on technical analysis when trading is never 100% sure. As a trader, you need to back up yourself with skills and good experience in the market, and small amount of luck as well as we can never predict the future price of bitcoin and its market position. In addition, if you are only good with technicalities but not equipped with fundamentals and sentiments in the market, you will never win a trade.

Trade only when you are equipped with full package, otherwise your efforts to trade and risk of funds will only go into waste. That's why never trade if you think you're not ready and good enough.
344  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mom won 50,000$ in Lottery on: March 01, 2024, 02:44:24 PM
She realized after her son told her that the mother had completed the 10-word puzzle and this can be said to be an unexpected win who thought it was $5000 but in reality it was $50,000 who wouldn't be happy with the news of this win.

What is more admirable is that she is thinking about the future with her investment, I read the article a little touched because she consulted with investment finance so that she can use this fund well, after all she did not think of a party after this victory.

Most lotto winners might not think of investments; instead, they may focus on how to spend the money they won. This woman is smart, and she deserved to be lucky because she knows how to increase her money through investment. The fact that she consulted an expert clearly shows that she wants the money to not be wasted on the wrong investments. Good luck to her future; maybe she'll achieve more financial success through the winnings from the lottery. It's a good stepping stone for her, a wise choice of decision after the win.
345  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: March 01, 2024, 02:20:16 PM
Looks like farm teams are having a great start. In their opening, Blackwater beat the Bolts, and now it's the DYIP that beat Converge. My bet lost, and I have to double that on the next game. With that said, I'm betting on the Road Warriors to win by -2.5.

I'm also interested on betting the over 203.5 ( no push that way). And,... Northport over 102.5

Good luck guys, have a great evening. Game will start at 7;30 pm/

We're witnessing a very entertaining game now between these two. NLEX started strong, but Northport was able to have a good run, and now they are only trailing by 1 point. As for the total points of this game, the pregame odds are still almost the same, so that's fun since it's still in the 3rd quarter, and there's a chance that in the 4th quarter they'll score more due to a possible increase in fouls committed, as it's a close game. If this game goes to OT, that would be a huge bonus for the over.

Already in the 4th quarter now, and it's now Northport that is leading the game, but it's still a manageable lead. So yes, OT is possible here, and the over will hit easily. Enjoy the action, guys, as this All-Filipino is also entertaining to watch. By the way, I have my bet on Northport here, and I'm happy with what I'm seeing so far. Hopefully, it will not change, but I cannot be sure here since there's still plenty of time.
And it has changed now. NLEX is now taking the lead, but as you mentioned, it's a close game, and either team could win. Let's have another extra minutes in overtime, why not? This is a good matchup, and we deserve to have fun. But I would always want NLEX to win by at least 3 points.

The over/under now is not certain, please more fouls to come....

Edit : and the game went to OT... I just need a 3 point win now for NLEX.
over  203.5 will win.,   Northport (should be NLEX) over 102.5(although miss typed) will win

Nice win! It indeed went to overtime, and NLEX won, covering the spread. The final score is 107-100. The spread was covered, and the team total and the overall total as well. Nice bounce back after losing the first game. Bolick is enjoying his role here with NLEX; he was the best player of the game.

What can we expect from this team this All Filipino Cup? Is their lineup enough to be a playoff team? They have some veterans on the team and good defensive players like Semerad and Anthony, and we know that these two always plays hard on the court, but Bolick should lead the team.

347  Economy / Economics / Re: Beginner questions on: March 01, 2024, 12:41:04 PM
You have the wrong idea that Bitcoin is in a stock exchange, it is in an exchange but cryptocurrency exchanges, not in stocks because BTC is not stocks. For eToro, I think they are treating it as stocks. Is that why you have set that?

For your question with $250, you would lose that value depending on the percentage of losses that you have. In spot markets, it would be directly proportional, like if it goes down 10%, you would lose $25, something like that. If $250 is all your position.

You can purchase BTC and HODL it on your own even if it's zero in value. The digital part is that you still own it.
There is no worrying if you invest in bitcoin and hold it for long term. Even if the price drops down to zero value, you can still say that you still have your investment. However, you need to hold it longer until the price recovers and reaches its new resistance level. Until you decide not to sell your bitcoin, you will never lost your position.

However, different thing when it comes to stocks. They have this mandatory delisting when those stocks become worthless anymore to its investors. With this, the investor loses eventually his investments when they drop down to zero value. Which is totally opposite from bitcoin investment.
348  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Behavioral Change!!! on: March 01, 2024, 11:28:28 AM
Behavioral change is common depending on the mood or what happened to your day and not just related to gambling. There times that you'll win or lose in gambling, there are times that you are happy, irritable or frustrated, but it's important to be aware and of these behavioral changes and potential impact on ourselves or those around us.

This is true because it will make us a bad person. We get sad or frustrated, but that's it; we have to move on and continue gambling if we still can. But if we are still in the situation many times that we are having a hard time to move on, then accept early that gambling is not for us; otherwise, it will only destroy our lives and people around us.

We have to view gambling as entertainment, not a way to take us out of poverty, as although it's possible, it's hard to achieve such a goal through gambling, and most of the time, it will only lead to more problems. It happened to some gamblers, so it's not impossible to happen to us. The key here is to determine its risk and prevent things that might result in regret in the end.
349  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is sharing insights the key to better trading? on: February 29, 2024, 11:46:23 PM
You are able to introduce that bitget thing everytime you discuss some topics. I'd applaud you for that because it doesn't seem that it is noticeable.

As for shared insights from the community, it does help an individual but also, it might cause a panic to someone who's just reading those insights.
I think there are other users too who shill that exchange but they are way too obvious. I guess it's because their sentence are only short while this one here or every time the OP writes, isn't.

Even though it can also be considered as a shill but he is doing it carefully though I do not know if this is still not acceptable or not?

Anyways, on topic now, I am just wondering on why you said sharing insights can cause a panic to someone else? Is it like they are going to FOMO because the insights is too good? But, why not? As long as it's not hoax and then those listeners already have a good experience on how to use it, they will be just fine.
Sharing and learning from those insights, and eventually enhance trading skills is always a good thing in trading. You cannot share what you have not learned, and you cannot perform trading well without skills and experience in the market. Those who are in panic mode definitely do not understand the insights they have been receiving. They just trade without without proper comprehension and market analysis.

However, FOMOing is not new in the market most likely when others are shilling. But if you think you are FOMOing in good reason, and as long as you’ll trade for profits and not with losses, that will never cause a problem.
350  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price is rising faster and faster, It is time to Buy Bitcoin ! on: February 29, 2024, 10:58:14 PM
Indeed, the price of Bitcoin is rallying and no one would have expected Bitcoin to eventually touch $64k this month itself and yeas there are possibilities it may touch $100k in next six month but only if this momentum continues else it would be a set back. I sense FOMO but yeah there might be really opportunity to earn more profits but should risk more than we can afford to lose.Even if you invest then set stop loss especially short term investors.
What we see is just normal for a volatile crypto like bitcoin. If it’s possible for bitcoin to drop its price consistently, then we should also anticipate on one hand that it’s price will get massive in time and we will witness its price surging most often. And it’s obviously happening now which I think just because bitcoin halving is fast approaching. But I must say, never expect too much that its price will rise consistently as price correction will definitely takes place any time from now. However, the price is still a good buy no matter how high it is. Don’t hesitate to invest and hold it like there’s no plan of selling.
351  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin prospects on: February 29, 2024, 09:40:14 PM
What are the limits of Bitcoin’s rise... and is it a strong and consistent rise... and what are the most prominent implications of this rise and its most prominent results?
If you mean to say its price increase, I can say it’s limitless. As long as there is sufficient supply of bitcoin and its demand will continue to grow, then always anticipate that bitcoin price will never settle for anything less but it will continue to skyrocket and reach a new all time high as much as possible.

However, with how rapid its price grows, its price correction won’t also take too long. Just expect that in every price surge of bitcoin either due to high volatility or positive market, it has also its fallback, we just don’t know when it will takes place in the market. But one thing is certain, no matter how bitcoin price plummeted, it will definitely have its own time to recover and gets back to surging high in order to reach a new all time high.
352  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have this practice of gambling during one's wake on: February 26, 2024, 03:35:02 PM
Yeah I just happened to pass by on one's wake with people doing cards, it's pretty normal in our country it's a way to stay awake and bear with the family throughout the whole night and since gambling is legal in my country they do this and part of the profit go to the family, its family tradition, majority of the family have done this and the authorities do not forbid or restrict this tradition.
Although gambling and its legal people are not here to make money but to condole with the family it's part of the tradition that will linger on as long as no law forbids this tradition.
This is also very common in my area. You will know eventually that there’s a wake when you see a long table outside the house that is used for gambling. I don’t know actually if the family of the deceased will still ask permission before allowing gambling, because I think gambling is already part of the tradition everytime there is a funeral reception. With that, the family will no longer mind who will watch over the body of the deceased since those close family and friends will be present from night to morning while gambling. I don’t know if other countries adapt the same tradition but if all countries will adapt this, the family of the deceased will be very thankful because the more gamblers will come, the bigger the tong will be which is a very big help already to the family of the wake.
353  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An Unusual Story that Reflects the Current Gambling Addiction Reality on: February 26, 2024, 02:46:41 PM
I think the person offering help probably got wary because the husband wanted to use his own account for his wife's medical funds. There's a concern that the money might end up being spent on gambling instead of the intended medical support. This situation shows how gambling issues can make people doubt even well-intentioned gesture and it just shows the real-life impact of this problem
Most likely, the one who wanted to give medical assistance knows also the man asking for help. Because one will not jump into a conclusion without knowing the other person. He must be addicted into gambling or just fond of gambling, so the doubt arise if he will really give the money to his wife or will use it to fund his gambling addiction. And I think that’s reasonable enough, just to make sure if this man is actually telling the truth or just using the illness of his wife to fulfill his personal interest.

Gambling addiction has become a threat indeed to lose hope and trust to one person. If he is into gambling, then most likely the possibility to lie for the sake of his own satisfaction is very high. This serves a lesson that no gambler can be trusted when it comes to money. And even if you’re not into gambling anymore, but you have gambling story, still your words will always create doubt and hesitation from the other person.
354  Economy / Economics / Re: Leadership and Economics on: February 26, 2024, 01:57:22 PM
         -  A good leader will surely develop the country he leads. And it is also sure that he will be loved by his constituents. Now, if a leader is corrupt, I am pretty sure that the economy of the country he controls will also collapse. And negatively affect his people.

Because a good leader in a country will always think of the well-being of his citizens, one of them is the focus on building infrastructure, or build, build, as it is called. Transportation, such as railway commuters and others.
A good leader creates the biggest potentials for his country’s growth and development. He sees the imperfection of his country as well as the flaws of his people. That will serve as his motivation to uplift his people and to properly perform his position. Hence, being a leader serves as a role model, and whatever he does to his country reflects on his countrymen. If he is responsible and respectful, his people will also serve respect to him. But if he is self-centered and have no clearer goals for his country, the economy will take downturn that will affect every individual under his leadership.
355  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it too advanced to get into Bitcoin now? on: February 26, 2024, 01:25:55 PM
If there is one thing that I have learned over the past years ever since I started in this forum, it is always to maximize the opportunity to invest while you have the resources for it.

Back in 2017, the price of 1 BTC was around ~$4,000. I thought that the price of BTC will be stable at that point which led me to not invest and increase my BTCs in the process. Fast forward to the following year, the price skyrocketed to $19,000 and it crashed thereafter.

MORAL OF THE STORY:
Invest while you have the resources. Equip yourself with the knowledge and information so you can take opportunity of the upcoming fork that will happen in the following months this year. While you have the money and resources, use at least 5-8% of your total monthly income to invest it for cryptocurrencies for long-term investment.
Invest in yourself first and acquire sufficient knowledge and skills regarding crypto market investing and even trading. When you think you’re ready to take the risk and you have enough resources to start with, focus on bitcoin and stick to it. Maximize your bitcoin portfolio regardless of its price. With DCA, you can always buy at any given time regardless of its price.

However, no matter how beneficial bitcoin to us as it could enhance financial security and flexibility, and could serve as a good option for retirement, still invest with caution. Have your capital that you can afford to lose, as bitcoin can always be uncertain due to its uncontrolled high volatility.
356  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Isn't trading almost like gambling? on: February 26, 2024, 11:06:01 AM
My question is, isn't trading almost like gambling considering it uncertainty and also looking from the fact that he has lost a fortune out of trading within a short space of time?
Trading is risky, just like gambling; and with the both of them you cannot be sure of what will happen and if you will lose or earn money, so there are similarities with the both of them. Skills is also important, if you have trading skills, you'll surely be closer to earning profits that someone who does not know what they are doing, however, some people also believe that gambling requires skills too. So i think this question is subjective, some people would agree that the both of them are almost the same thing.

Take note that you can lose money in many things, even in investments that people think is less risky, it all depends on how knowledgeable you are, and how much risk you are ready to get exposed to.
Trading is like gambling since it can also be a game of chance. Even if you’re knowledgeable and skillful enough, but you’re out of luck, I guess you won’t still end up winning your trades. That’s why it’s hard to win in trading, same like gambling, wherein you will endure more often with losses than gains. However, if we compare between trading and gambling, I still see trading having more potentials of winning and making profits. But of course, this only goes for professional and skillful traders, but for those who are still learning the process of trading, most likely they often lose like gambling.

While trading and gambling can be both risky and hard to win, but we often see a lot of people trying their luck in gambling as much as in trading, where you can always increase the opportunity to be in profits if you are using risk management techniques and you are more patient and disciplined.
357  Economy / Economics / Re: Isn't it all about money? on: February 25, 2024, 11:54:57 PM

It is not all about money but the security of one's future.  Money is just part of it.  If money is so easy to earn then we won't see anyone trying hard to earn it.  People go to school and study to learn the basics of society but yeah, no one is forcing you to follow the norms.  if you can be successful and earn lots of money without feeding the educational institution with your money then it is great.  After all education is not only on the four wall of an institution, education is everywhere.

Btw, I think only shallow one thinks that the reason why people go to school and complete their education is because of money.  Don't forget the pride, ego, and dreams of people of achieving a bachelor's degree to Ph. D.  After all, people have different goals in life so we cannot generalize things and think that all are painted the same.
People go to school to satisfy their longing to be educated, because once you’re an educated individual, all good things and opportunities will easily knock on your door, and with that money making is guaranteed. However, money making is not only for degree holders but also for those who are working hard in their lives. Money will always be achieved, but I don’t think the satisfaction for money will be completely achieved, regardless if you’re well educated or not.
358  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why People Have Different Perception Of Gambling Operators on: February 25, 2024, 11:30:17 PM
Some gambling games have worse reputation than others because indeed some gambling games encourage more reckless behavior than others.
Lottery tickets are less addictive because there's a lottery run every few days, maybe twice a week. And if you buy a single ticket, or 100, in the grand scheme of things your chances to win anything are still very very low.

But for example slots encourage to just keep dropping your money in, with a very high house edge still and for the most part no provable fairness. But here there exists a different issue...
If I was the spouse of someone coming home from playing cockfighting bets... I'd roast them for encouraging something so unethical.
Cockfighting bets are usually unhealthy for those who are not gamblers but for those who loves cockfighting, it serves a heaven to their feelings. However, cockfighting bets are riskier than any low risk games. So one should manage to gamble only on the amount he is comfortable of losing, otherwise he will end up with an empty wallet.

Lottery on one hand, aside from it’s made for charities, people who are betting on it can easily manage their bets and accept their losses knowing lottery has always have the lowest chances of winning. And people knew it already but still try their luck winning the jackpot prize.
359  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler takes his own life after a loss. on: February 25, 2024, 10:57:59 PM
No amount that will make me think about that. If I want to be dead, I want it to be the natural way and not because of gambling or some sort of debt that I can't pay.

There are people that can't move on with any amount of debt that they have and it's not just all about the debt but the shame that they've brought to themselves.

And just want to disappear after being known in their hood that he/she has got that much debt and known to be a gambling addict.
Its not on the amount of bet that the gambler will chose to suicide, but surely it’s on the amount of losses that ends up with a big debt which made the gambler very desperate and decide to take his own life. People like this should not gamble in the first place because once they cannot managed their frustrations and have no one to share their financial problems, they will end up with a decision that they will regret for the rest of their lives.

Gambling can be beneficial on our part if we see it as a source of fun, and money making is just a bonus. But if you are seeing it on the contrary, that you’ll only get fun if you are on the winning side, which I think majority are doing, is obviously a wrong act when gambling.
360  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Don’t play gambling with drugs or in half sleep on: February 25, 2024, 09:12:38 PM

Controlling ourselves is important, it should be done before, during and after the gambling session to be better.
Some people may have good control before start but it may change completely during or after gambling so it can lead into something unexpected.

This is the most important thing that needs to be remember by other people who really wants to engage in gambling activities, It's quite difficult to do since even if we really want to control ourself, It's kinda hard to apply in action. Many gamblers does know how to control theirself but once they experience different things in gambling, just like winning big amount, there is a change because their greed that they tried to suppress from the beginning is starting. It is difficult to explain why it reaches that point because it is about our mind decision.only medical professionals can properly explain why this is happening to us.

Those who find hard time controlling theirselves in gambling are those people who have less discipline in theirselves and their emotions will mostly prevail over their right thinking. When gamblers experienced too much losing or too much winning, thats the time their self-control will be highly tested. And if you are not good enough, you will end up seeing yourself addicted in gambling and eventually ruin your finances more than you’ll ever know.

Gambling after taking drugs or gambling after waking up are obviously not a good practice when gambling. That will only increase the risk of losing knowing you are not at your best condition. I suggest just gamble at the middle of the day so that if ever losses happen, you will still have time to recover before you end up your day.
