It already feels bad getting eliminated from the competition and it's even worse being reminded over and over again every time I get notification from this post Cry Baka naman pwede huwag ng ulit-ulitin
3442  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Advertisers' Future within Yobit, will it be discontinued again??? on: January 29, 2020, 09:30:06 AM
Let yahoo handle yung issue tungkol sa kanya. Tungkol naman sa campaign, yes it was the X10 investbox that really worsened the situation. Okay na sana yung sa cryptotalk eh dahil humupa na kahit paano after magbawas ng limang post per day pero biglang pinalitan ni yobit na walang pasabi kay yahoo kaya ayun, bumalik nanaman atensyon. Since then, halos yobit related threads na ang laging usapan sa reputation board kahit pa pinalitan ulit ng yodollars airdrop.

Yung airdrop hanggang Jan. 27 lang talaga kung hindi ako nagkakamali, so regardless of the criticisms, that campaign was meant to end.

I was thinking of creating a topic din with a title like "After Yobit campaign, what's next for the local board?"

3444  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BITTREX account HACKED - having 2FA ON on: January 29, 2020, 07:58:15 AM
^ I don't know if it's even possible to decrypt and I agree with you that the 2FA should protect users from those phishing sites. Looking at the Bittrex's security guide, it's exactly what they recommend to help avoid hacks/unauthorized log ins

Please be aware that there are phishing sites on the Internet that look like Bittrex.  These sites are fake and harvest your credentials which can then be used to login to your account.  These sites will capture many different things including, username, password, 2FA code, and possibly even ask you for your email username and password.  Bittrex will never ask you for your email username and password, so please never enter those on any login that looks like a Bittrex site.

We highly recommend users enable two-factor to further secure their accounts and protect them from most automated attacks.  However, many users will still use the same passwords and email combinations they use on other sites as well as weak password to protect their accounts.  Bittrex keeps your user information secure and has never leaked any passwords.  However, many sites in the Crypto world have been hacked and the hackers have databases that they attempt to use to login to accounts.  This is why we suggest enabling two-factor.

@OP, try to use the above argument if you still want to talk to the bittrex support. They shouldn't be asking you not to bother them anymore without giving you a better explanation.
3445  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why KYC is extremely dangerous – and useless on: January 29, 2020, 07:18:11 AM
This is quite a long read and I understand why it took you some time before you finally posted it here.

I used to not think too much about the importance of my privacy and that's why I've also submitted sensitive data to some bounty campaigns and low-tier exchanges. When I read articles about those data being sold in the black market, I started to worry but I can no longer do anything about the information I've given before. I can only hope that they were completely discarded.

To this day, I cringe every time I read some hunters and traders say that only people who avoid KYC are scammers/cheaters. What's even worse is that they're fine with how some companies treat KYC by hiding behind "compliance" and having them submit thru a google form!
3446  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Trading Bot For Multiple Exchanges on: January 29, 2020, 06:34:45 AM
~My questions -
Is it good to use a trading bot like this?
Can we get more profits by using Bots?
1. Like this? I don't know. I guess we have to try it first. I know of a guy who regularly uses trading bots, maybe he can share his opinion - @crwth
2. Just like what the comment above says, trading bot is only as good as the trader using it. It's not automatic that you'll get more profits, you have to set it up first according to your analysis of the market.

Here are some old topics here that you can read also:

I've also seen some people claiming their trading bot has a 100% win rate, be careful of those.
3447  Other / Meta / Re: [TelegramBot] Merit watcher and Mention Notification Bot on: January 29, 2020, 05:22:35 AM
~
I will update the TODO with your latest requests.

Quote
* Merit sender and topic link. As on the Merit page.
* More sentences than quotes. It would be good. 6-7 words are not understandable.
* There is no need for notification when the name is mentioned in the quote in quote.
* You can add Trust notifications weekly. Those who add or remove you trust list. Like this page. Or you can link directly, when the update takes place. Usually @Loycev updates on Tuesdays.
I like your bot, and good to see that will develop forward with new features
Please, can you leave the code as it is now for us that want to keep this notifications simple as they are up to this stage
Something like “/simple” code in the telegram, just to show merits and quotes
I like the way is done since this phase
I also like it the way it is now but a few upgrades will be good too. I'm looking forward to the addition of merit sender and the topic link. When it comes to the other notifications like who add or removed from trust list, I think bot users will be given the option to subscribe to that or not. You can still choose not to if you you're not interested in that feature (correct me if I am wrong OP).

Kaya kung mapapansin mo yung mga article nila ay minsan madalas negative and yung mga data na binibigay nila sila lang naman nag-baback up nun, so there is no way to confirm on what they are saying is true.

3450  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin upgrades and FATF (Travel Rule) on: January 28, 2020, 08:46:39 AM
~
An exchange can still ask strange questions about the provenance of your bitcoins, or where you're sending them off to, and/or freeze/ban your account, and these upgrades won't change that, especially if the FATF travel rule ends up being enforced.
I agree that those upgrades won't change how exchanges will act. There are exchanges that are already asking for proof of funds but I have never heard of one asking where users send their funds to. That's probably what FATF will require exchanges to do once the travel rule becomes mandatory.

I won't be surprise if they force all exchanges to go 100% full KYC too. There will be no more minimum of xx amount of btc as an added measure.

3452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: No shill, just news. on: January 28, 2020, 06:24:56 AM
~
There are a lot of words out there. Why not use them? Be unique.
Well, blame this to the BCH, BSV, BTG, BCD, and the many other bitcoin wannabes that came before this BXC.

~
The problem is because newbies might confused this for bitcoin and looking at the cheap price they might really bite that bait that was thrown.
This is exactly the reason why they want their name to be as close to popular coins such as Bitcoin. They are not really targeting the crypto veterans in marketing their coin or token, they are hoping newbies would fall for it. But just like many other copycats, they will soon leave the market with their pockets full of "newbie monies".

3453  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Hackers and their use of mixing services on: January 28, 2020, 05:32:55 AM
The blog linked in the OP says that Lazarus Group (referenced in the OP chart) specifically was using CoinJoin more frequently. The analysis does not break down a mixer verses CJ transactions.

I haven't seen any of the data that Chainalysis used/looked at, but I presume Lazarus started using Wasabi Wallet, and is comfortable with its privacy. If this is true, they are probably comfortable with the privacy from Wasabi when all outputs are equal, except each person's change.
It's an excerpt from their 2020 Crime report. They said they'll release the full version late this month. You can subscribe to their mailing list if you wan tto get a copy. I guess that's where they will include all the details you are looking for.

~
Also, to comment on the release in specific: Isn't it a little weird how they're tracking such a big increase from one year to another for mixing? I get a feeling that the scope of this research might be a little narrow... Not to blame them, it's a vast amount of data an parameters, but I doubt they had comparable data to indicate a reliable increase from year to year.
Yes, I was hoping someone would also point this out as I was also wondering how they were able to come up with the figures.

You might be sending mixed (no pun intended) messages by both promoting a mixing service in your signature at this time and also posting observations about how those same services can be used for evil instead of niceness...
I already had this thought even before I applied for the campaign. As I mentioned in my previous reply, I consider wallets with coinjoin features and mixing services as mere tools that are both available to legit users and hackers. I was thinking of the same knife analogy mentioned by @Slow death
3454  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin upgrades and FATF (Travel Rule) on: January 28, 2020, 04:11:47 AM
Please check this topic first before reading mine - [D-8] Bitcoin is getting 3 major upgrades - Schnorr, Taproot and Tapscript

After reading the topic above and some of the comments there, I had this thought that exchanges might have another trouble/headache from regulators once Bitcoin's upcoming upgrades are implemented. It is said that these will not only improve scalability, they will also increase the privacy of bitcoin transactions.

~
The two things most of us want and which has been debated on a lot is scalability
and privacy. In my sinple language and understanding of the technical details of
Bitcoin both Schnorr and Taproot will add more "value" and "usability" and potentially
take back some of that from mixing services and privacy projects like Monero
and Zcash.

The idea of masking transactions is exciting, significant and a real game changer
in my opinion.

As such, Taproot offers all the benefits of MAST, while under normal
circumstances no one will ever know that a regular transaction was hiding
such a complex smart contract as a fallback.

When the FATF travel rule was released, some exchanges started delisting privacy coins like Monero (XMR), Zcash, Super bitcoin, Horizen, etc. in order to comply with the guidelines (I've written about it in this topic). Exchanges will find it hard to delist BTC and I doubt they will do so but I cannot tell for sure what will be the response of FATF to the increased privacy of Bitcoin. One thing is certain though, they cannot stop its development and they cannot stop people from using it.

3456  Local / Pilipinas / Re: IMF Urges Philippines’ Central Bank to Collect Crypto Exchange Data on: January 27, 2020, 01:06:26 PM
Does this mean that the IMF want to monitor crypto transaction all over the world?

With this request from them, they wanted to add our information to their database so they can monitor the crypto users that are using registered exchanges at the same time.
Have you heard or read anything about the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) formed by the IMF? It's main objective is to trace transactions and determine who was sending funds and where the the funds is being sent to. Recently, the group came up with the "Travel Rule" which recommends crypto exchanges to collect data from their users. I wrote about it a few months ago
~
The travel rule requires that cryptocurrency exchanges collect and record customer information related to cryptocurrency transactions. The information includes the transaction originator’s name, account number and location, as well as the recipient’s name and account number.
~

Philippines is not yet a member of the FATF but IMF is also suggesting the BSP to follow the Travel Rule. For now, the recommendation looks like "for research" purposes but I think we know where this is going to.

Now, here's my question, do you think this would be helpful to reduce the scams in the space and to help the crypto grow in the long run?
Well, it will help curb scams and money laundering. Will it be beneficial in the long run? I guess so. We can only speculate on that. What is certain now is that it won't eradicate scams completely. Compared to other forms of currency, crypto is easier and faster to move privately & anonymously and there are many ways to do that

Will crypto exchanges release those information of trading of each users? I think that is a breached of privacy on the part of the traders.
I don't know if there is a breach of privacy, BSP can direct the exchange to release information they need and its the IMF that might request the BSP to certain information too, don't know how exactly it would work but in a centralized system, there are trees and branches.
.
A court order to release even the most confidential information will do the trick I think.
3457  Other / Meta / Re: [TelegramBot] Merit watcher and Mention Notification Bot on: January 27, 2020, 11:33:24 AM
I don't know if it's me but does the bot automatically notify when someone mentions my name in a post? Like if someone posts "I agree with Deathwing" should I get notified? I only seem to be getting notifications regarding quotes.

I would really like an option like this, so if anyone writes @Deathwing or Deathwing in general, I would receive a notification. I believe you can scrape all the posts on Bitcointalk for this.
In my case, I don't get notified when there's no @ before my username but some users say it works for them.
You are not the first one to make this notification without @ request and this is what the bot developer has to say:

~ Yes, you are correct. I would plan to extend without "@" the mention.
Not using the @ for the nickname creates many problems!

The regex would process every word and therefore I would have to totally change the algorithm:
I would have to cycle all the nicknames and search in the text if someone is found! Its a mess!

Now it works differently, I take the nickname with the @ and see if i have it in the database, more efficient.

If i raise some donation i can upgrade VPS and add this feature, but at the moment isnt good idea.

If you wish to add more funding for the further development the bot, the donation address is in the OP.

* Merit sender and topic link. As on the Merit page.
~
The topic link is fine for me but I wouldn't mind if the sender is included as well.
3458  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam Alert - RoboBit AI - Plagiarized Whitepaper on: January 27, 2020, 10:51:50 AM
So I went to the robobit telegram channel to ask how are they related but the team from mindsync were already there.

I was expecting a "we hired someone else to write the whitepaper for us" excuse for the plagiarism but the robobit admin has this to say "Web developer made this mistake we are very sorry for this give us 30 minutes only". I imagine the guys from mindsync team laughing hard upon reading that lame excuse.

Here's a screenshot of their conversation

Haha yeah, i was just about to upload the same conversation. As always, it was just  mistake , wrong click of a mouse button so their web developer copied whole whitepaper, picked up 4 team members  and used them as their own etc. It can  happen to anyone   Cheesy
Website is archived, so they can't remove the other proof.
Yeah, it was a "mistake"  Grin
The admin knew very well that they copied another project's WP and "stole" their team member with how quickly he/she responded. They were just hoping not to get caught.
3459  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Posting on BitcoinTalk: how do I know when my post is "too long"? on: January 27, 2020, 09:04:33 AM
There is no standard on what's too long or what's too short here because everything depends on the individual readers. Write as many as you want but try to avoid post padding. Oftentimes, I click preview and read it first to see whether I can remove or reword some phrase to shorten the post but not sacrificing the content.

The last timr I read anything about Kobe was when Lebron passing him in the NBA all-time list of most points and now I read the news about him and his daughter passing away in a helicopter crash in New York. They were with another player and a parent.

Damn, tragic things can happen at any moment. RIP to the Balck Mamba and Mambacita. The Legend Lives!

It was great to watch the teams opening the games with 8-second backcourt violation and then the 24-second shooting violation
