3481  Other / Meta / Re: How to earn merit in 6 EASY steps! (2019-2020 Edition) on: January 24, 2020, 07:08:19 AM
I see that your How to earn merit in 4 EASY steps! was locked.
Well done on finding another way to earn merit  Grin

Joking aside, OP's example and the many "close to ___ rank" topics have gained plenty of merits before. Many members also thought of doing the same because it works in some cases.
3482  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Most popular decentralized marketplaces? on: January 24, 2020, 06:34:45 AM
Other than OpenBazaar, there is also Syscoin's Blockmarket Desktop version. I've no idea how it is now since I haven't tried it after the first version. It's a shame that they couldn't make the Blockmarket Web version, that would have made a huge difference.

~
Back then, you can easily advertise your product or services to get patronise while the general accepted cryptocurrency for payment was their native token of the platform called CMA. Haven't followed up the project since then but most likely it should still be active.
~
I've promoted this CMA too in social media and also tried their platform. It was pretty simple to use actually and any beginner can easily learn how to advertise or how to offer their services there.

I stopped patronizing the project during the IDAX issue. After calling the exchange for scamming them with the IEO, they suddenly turned 180 and started writing how good the exchange is.
3483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto Exchanges that Don't Charge Listing Fees? on: January 24, 2020, 05:56:41 AM
Listing fee is one of the lifeblood of any centralized exchange and some "DEX". There is no way they are going to list new projects for free unless they are also a new exchange. They can offer free listing (without voting) within a few months after launching but once they gained their footing, they will also be charging some listing fees. Some may also offer no listing fees for a longer time but they'll be killing the traders with high transaction fees later.

I went over the exchanges board and found one with no listing fees according to their post.
Coin Listing Requests:
If you would like to see a coin trading on Oodlebit you can fill out our request form by clicking here. We do not charge any listing fees.

I remember this unnamed exchange not charging listing fees before but requires new tokens/coins to do airdrops/rains in the exchange's chatbox. I'm not sure if that is still the case.
3484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BCH: Miners should donate...or else on: January 24, 2020, 05:27:04 AM
Donate or donation is a wrong word here. It is a misnomer for what is really being implemented. Miners are not asked to donate. They are forced to pay taxes. ~
They used "donate" in their blog but we all know that is not the case if we read further.

I don't get this. Aren't miners already donating by the very act of mining itself? They are supporting the chain with their own expensive equipment and electricity. The profit margin is so small and 12.5% is massive. ~
Yup! Apprently, it's not enough for the BCH heads to just support the chain thru mining. The decision to force even the small/medium miners to donate will probably hurt their ecosystem in the long run.

~ Perhaps they want the medium sized and small sized miners to drop off, so that the handful of mega-sized miners can compete among themselves. ~
Yes, that is most likely the case. The 12.5% tax won't probably matter much to large-scale miners. Well, the small/medium miners can quit from May to October (six months) for the mean time and then resume after the "tax period" is over. They would have to sacrifice the little profit they can get though if they won't support the developers thru "donations".
3485  Local / Altcoins (Pilipinas) / Re: BCH muna tayo! on: January 24, 2020, 05:09:45 AM
May ginawa akong topic kahapon tungkol sa BCH - BCH: Miners should donate...or else

3488  Local / Pamilihan / Bitcoin/Crypto Pinas Avatar on: January 23, 2020, 08:04:28 AM

Meron ba interesado gumawa neto?

I'm willing to pay at least 20 xrp as reward sa magugustuhan ko.

(This is not a contest ha)

3489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / BCH: Miners should donate...or else on: January 23, 2020, 07:01:36 AM
I don't really follow the development of this coin but I came across this blog on twitter - Infrastructure Funding Plan for Bitcoin Cash

They will be requiring miners to "donate" 12.5% to support the bcash ecosystem and anyone who doesn't follow will have their blocks orphaned.

Quote
To provide this funding, we intend to direct 12.5% of BCH coinbase rewards to a fund that will support Bitcoin Cash infrastructure. This funding will last for 6 months, and it will provide significant and much needed support to the Bitcoin Cash ecosystem.
Quote
To ensure participation and include subsidization from the whole pool of SHA-256 mining, miners will orphan BCH blocks that do not follow the plan. This is needed to avoid a tragedy of the commons.

This must be the new method for "crowdfunding" now (miners turning into donors) Grin
Don't you guys think this move makes the whole bcash project centralized?

It appears that the current investors funding bcash are no longer willing to pump more into the development fund. Also, if more miners will not approve this, the whole project could go down. What would Roger do if that happens? Increase bock size again?

Thanks for the early notice @DarkStar_
It was kind of fun being part of over 150+ applicants and making it to "round 2"

Actually, it's the exact opposite right now. Most likely 3/4 slots will go towards those who are active primarily in Local boards that we're still lacking in.
Our local guys @mk4 and @harizen are doing well so I guess we'll have to wait for them to retire before applying for that next opening.
My bad. I didn't check the spreadsheet. Thanks for the correction @rodskee
3492  Other / Meta / Re: I sincerely apologize to everyone on: January 23, 2020, 05:40:44 AM
Hey man, we've had some discussions in our local board if you still remember but that was before you started working for that site. I had to put you on ignore when you've been creating a lot of topics with beincrypto links.

Anyway, I've always thought you were a decent user and can contribute more to the forum. It feels refreshing to see you make a topic without any links  Grin
3493  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Pagdami ng mayroong 1bitcoin on: January 23, 2020, 05:00:44 AM
Tandaan natin na subject to speculation pa din and bitcoin kaya huwag tayong magpaka-siguro.
3494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin’s Lighting ‘Torch’ Reignites, Blazes Through 38 Countries in 3 Days on: January 23, 2020, 04:32:42 AM
The chain was broken earlier at 1060000 sats https://twitter.com/gh0ste7/status/1219920429193797632 but it seems a certain @jimmyhomma sent another 1060000 to a different person to keep the torch running https://twitter.com/hodlonaut/status/1220120377151643648

It looks like it stopped at 1,130,000 sats again https://twitter.com/ronnie_barkan/status/1220185714161139714

It's definitely a fun way to attract attention. I hope someone tags Peter and have him create a LN wallet

3496  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Poll - How did you find of about Bitcointalk? on: January 22, 2020, 07:49:06 AM
It's close between friend and social media. I was introduced to airdrops/bounties thru social media and it was the main reason why I created an account here but the first time I heard about bitcoin was thru a friend. That was before I started joining airdrops/bounties. I just can't remember if she ever mentioned about bitcointalk. I voted for friend anyway, there's no bitcointalk without bitcoin.

I'm not sure if that can be reported for low quality but he/she has been posting like that for the longest time. I guess it's allowed?

~ Could be some paid promoter.
I don't think so. Unlike those guys posting beincrypto links, this user has been posting articles from different sources including popular sites like yahoo and cointelegraph.

~ But for the meantime, I just need some self fixings so I can focus myself again. ~
