361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Is cryptsy the only legitimate altcoin exchange? on: October 07, 2014, 04:58:02 PM
I cant believe anyone has said it. Cryptsy has the worst UI of all the exchanges. It really kills me everytime I've got to do some trading there. Also, they are too slow to add coins.

I suspect all this recent posts about cryptsy is part of a marketing campaign. Makes no sense otherwise as its far from being a relevant exchange anymore. Too much parties in latina america guys! I think you're preparing a gigantic operation which started with colluding with BCX  and orchestrating a fake attack to get cheap Monero in order to get a share of its market.

So silly when you think you could have had it from the beginning if only you had done the work of adding it after poloniex made 1000 btcs in volume the opening day.

As you seem to always go for the wrong move, here's some help: dont wait for xmr to go from #2 to #1 in the voting list, add it right away. And add a fiat market! Its the only way you can gain marketshare. Oh, also, get a marketmaker.

Stop being stupid cryptsy.

Your right with certain coins we are slower to adopt especially when they are new code and untested concepts. We held back on XMR because were doing the coding to add a different coin and market, that and the previous stated security concerns. You will see the announcement later today.

I would say Monero is likely next after the current integration.

Security is more a priority to us than being first to market. We think our customers appreciate that aspect.

Apparently when you register there you also confirm that your personal information will be shared with few people for their personal use.

Apparently that's true.

You know, Cryptsy is probably the type of people who would come after you for spreading libel and fud about their business. there is no evidence that they have shared your identity or personal information with anyone.

You can read our privacy policy here. https://www.cryptsy.com/pages/privacy

''We do not sell, trade, or rent Users personal identification information to others.''

What about share ? give ? etc.

Playing with words at its finest. I am also very skeptic about what Crypsty is doing/will do with personal information (driver license, pictures etc. heavy stuff)

That only applies to verified folks on the DL, pictures etc and is required by law.

What about share ? give ? etc. No. I suppose we could pull out the thesaurus and add every variation in every language.
363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Is cryptsy the only legitimate altcoin exchange? on: October 07, 2014, 01:58:20 PM
What say ye? they seem to be the best option in my opinion.

- Proven Track record
- No Hacking
- No shady business
- US Company
- Registered with Fincen
- Fully staffed
- Certified for Fiat trading
- 99.9 percent uptime

Who can contest this?

Cryptsy is fine, but it's the the only legitimate exchange. Mintpal is trustworthy, and the new management seems to have the competence required to make it even safer.

I think that statement is way to early could come true, but for now I hold judgement. The old crew seemed to know what was going on the new team not so much. There is nothing about Mintpal this is the old Mintpal except the customer list they bought.

I would like us to do something like this http://www.google.com/transparencyreport/ but seeing what the legalities in the AML world are with this. So lets hope.

Care to explain the reason why people could not withdraw BTCD a few weeks ago?

What was the "technical" issue that presented such a challenge?

Sure we run super low hot wallets for one. It some times take some tweaking to make sure we have enough to meet withdraw demand so that is part of the snaffu. Match that with a server crash ( more of a server unplanned reboot) leading to a corrupt wallet DB you get a rough week of delays.

Could you look into this? It's still a problem for us. BTCD withdrawals commonly take a long time.. up to several days. For example, right now I have one that was initiated 11 hours ago and still hasn't been processed.

I will take a peak and see what I can figure out.

368  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cryptsy delaying deposits? on: October 05, 2014, 12:49:58 PM
Indeed cryptsy has improved a lot and you guys handled some massive growth despite all the competition in the industry. I've been trading through your platform since early 2013 and I still believe that it's the most stable among them all. But this recent change bugs me.

The fact hat I would have to use my real name, address, ID etc. just to get my transactions to verify faster and get better fee rates sounds a little bit over the top to me. I always used pseudonyms everywhere possible, I'm generally avoiding exchanges that ask for your real information and I'm sure I'm not the only one. It's good that it's not mandatory to verify the account to use the exchange. But I really feel that everyone deserves to get full service, whether he'd like to remain anonymous or not.
Well the reason a verified customer gets faster deposits and we take more risk is we know who they are and where they live. So double spends, attacks, manipulation become less of a risk and we can speed things up for them. It is not we like them more we just know them better.

Just wanted to chime in and say what awesome transparency it is for an exchange to have it's employees out-reach to the community to ask what they can do better, if anything. How often do you get to see that elsewhere? That makes me even more happy to be a user of Cryptsy services.

I've been 'only' using your exchange since earlier this March and must say that it's been smoothing sailing thus far... One time or two months ago I would get impatient/worried that a transaction didn't go through and e-mailed staff... fast responses, no probs. Everything went through. When I poke in the chat to troll my favorite saying at the bottom with "Kev" - It's always nice to see the various mods helping others so diligently with various issues. Though I haven't ever won anything, I think the weekly raffles are pretty nifty as well.

All-around, fantasic site, services, and personnel.

Thanks BitJohn and Cryptsy!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot:

Cryptsy Points FTW!  Cool

Thanks without amazing Customers we would never have gotten to where we are today.I am glad you enjoy the thread hope many others are as well.
370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: How can Cryptsy.com serve you better? Still the #1 Digital Currency Exchange! on: October 05, 2014, 01:55:06 AM
Better support. Never leave a customer without a honest response. If an issue is going to take some time to be fixed, let the user know that. Other than that, it's the best exchange by a wide margin.

We have been making big strides in support. Biggest support hurdle has always been training. Most of our agents understand block chains etc now was not always the case. So you can hire lots of folks but until they grasp crypto it does not help much. We are in a much better position on that front now.

This does not explain 2~3 week delays then cancellation of the withdrawal request....
Actually the delays were on and off not sure why yours went long. My guess was your situation was something else such as an account hold.

Withdraws would be cancelled on request or if there was a possibility of that withdraw going into a forked chain.

Add XMR

and also...

In the chat box, make it so that Private Mentions are in a different coloured font.

We have one project that is preventing XMR from a listing today. I like the coin and its got a strong community so have little doubt it will make it in.

We will bring more features to chat in the coming months its on our roadmap.

Could you elaborate a bit more on this?

As far as the current Project its a surprise so no but you will know more sometime during the inside Bitcoin conference. As far as new chat features Ignore, PM, Mention etc its on our list but chat is always a low priority for us.

Will there be any consideration adding hyper stake to the exchange, or the voting list.
Sure let me take a peak at the coin and see if I can't get it on the voting list.

How much btsx did you make from all customers pts deposits on cryptsy at the time of the snapshot?

We did not participate in the snapshot so I do not have any data on that.

If you look at how many "snapshot like" coins systems there are now it is likely we will just not support this type of campaigns. Treat snapshots like stake you have to remove coins in order to participate which will likely remain our official stance.

How do you "not participate" in a snapshot?

Where ever the pts is held is the wallet that gets credit for the snap shot. Does the above mean you just did not claim the btsx?

I would also like to add I had no pts on your exchange at the time and up until the above I WAS a very happy cryptsy user.

Bottom line is prior to the snapshot we announced we would not participate in snapshots and conversions etc. The Protoshares team also told anyone who wished to participate to do so buy using their personal wallets. Meaning if you want to claim yours you had to have them in a wallet. Many customers withdrew. Those that did not, raise a fuss now because the sudden rise of Bitshares price and popularity.

Really its no different than staking if you want to stake you withdraw coins.

This policy would stand for any other snapshots rewards or anything that requires importing keys etc.The entire topic of snapshots staking and addresses is also covered in the Terms of Service

Anyhow lets move past Bitshares and snapshots in general since it is asked an answered both here now, in the past, and in the TOS

Like mentioned above, a better way when new coins bloat up everything and you have to turn off the daily shitcoins.

PoS coins staking when held on cryptsy and crediting to account (would pump volume and many would move PoS funds to cryptsy) Not to mention new users to PoS wouldn't have to worry about staking themselves. (would require hardware upgrades but can be done!)

Also I think the rebate could be bumped a bit , maybe doubled, and paid every 6 hours (4 x payments 1/4 amounts) to add more 'life' the the atmosphere. Everybody loves those satoshis trickling in, why only do it every 24 hours... Think how things are on the casino floor, makes people want to spend i.e. trade, would bump volume of trading.

Traders know sometimes we have to just sit there and wait for something to happen, maybe some games something else to do other than trollchat (maybe simple group game paying out in Cryptsy points or something)

PoS staking on an exchange unfortunately has numerous problems
  • Staking and crediting the right user for coins that staked is nigh on impossible.
  • We move coins internally so throw off your expected staking because the coins you wanted to stake we moved.
  • The CPU usage of many PoS coin is very high so many run with staking off.
  • Others get so large they stake and fork the chain so developers want us to turn it off.
  • So there is no good way to pay stake.
.

Speeding up rebate times would be interesting. If only we could pump oxygen through your headphones on your computer...

The troll chat ideas are great some mods do games win stuff now. We had a chat that added all kinds of features games etc... It lasted about 5 minutes and crashed completely led to us removing chat for months. We are just glad to have it back at this point! But you should see improvements soon.
