361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why People Can Not Believe Bitcoin on: April 02, 2018, 12:01:42 PM
A lot of misleading and negative information about bitcoin, in fact I often read online media writing that say bitcoin scam and using ponzi scheme, I'm sure people who say it pay the media so as to make a lot of people do not believe with bitcoin.

Some of them actually do... like the Central Bank of Poland paying Youtubers to produce propaganda videos, as we've found out in February: https://cointelegraph.com/news/polish-central-bank-secretly-funds-anti-crypto-youtube-propaganda-videos. Roll Eyes
362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin really secure? on: April 02, 2018, 10:22:04 AM
Bitcoin is not really safe, because the wallet account is still vulnerable to hackers. If hackers can still hack and steal bitcoin means the system still needs to be fixed. It would be better to use wallet hardware to minimize the risk of hacker attacks.

But you understand that those are two different things, right?

The Bitcoin network is as safe as they come. The various wallets and services that are built on top (and how safely you use them) is another story altogether - but they have no impact on how safe the underlying technology of the network is.
363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stop Asking if Bitcoin is Dead on: April 02, 2018, 09:53:37 AM
On one hand it is comical on the other had annoying.
All the people that the last month have come out of the woodwork asking about bitcoin, ethereum and ripple are now blowing me up asking me if I get out before it was too late....lol

Well, at least in XRP's case, that would be justified, as nobody in their right mind should be buying those things. Tongue

Just the whole market is red, bitcoin is constantly declining, it causes depression in people. That's why everyone is constantly talking about the death of bitcoin, especially new people often say about it. I bet that as soon as another wave of growth begins, talk of the death of bitcoin will stop immediately.  Cheesy

I doubt it... some (overblown and likely fabricated) story will come up to let everyone know the end is near. Incidentally, that's when we'll know the bear trend is over.
364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why People Can Not Believe Bitcoin on: April 02, 2018, 08:31:50 AM
because the volatility  are so unpredictable that the risk of investing will be so high because no one country controls this digital currency.

Not that simply having a country control a currency would ensure any degree of stability (as several countries demonstrate today). Worse still, the sacrifices you would need to make for the hope of some of that kind of stability would deny much of the value of the investment.
365  Economy / Economics / Re: Worst bitcoin decision you've ever made? on: April 02, 2018, 07:46:23 AM
The worst ever bitcoin decision I have ever made so far I think is not joining bitcoin when I first learned it when it only got 500$ in price. I thought at first it was a scam, so I have not joined it. I have began to notice it's potential just last christmas.

No offense, but if you're going by price action alone (and its potential as a "get rich quick" scheme), you're not seeing much of Bitcoin's real potential. Undecided

Last year, I once joined a campaign and I think it lasted for a month. Last December, the tokens were distributed and I got 390 tokens. It once reached 3 dollars per token and I will earn for like almost 1200 us dollars but I told to myself this is kinda low and I want a higher profit so I waited for weeks expecting it to come up but it was disappointing that currently it now sits on like 0.15 us dollars and I will just earn like 58 us dollars. I immediately regret my decision and I should have sold it at the very beginning.

Yeah, I know how that feels; I did exactly the same with the Spectre.ai tokens I got earlier this year - should have just sold the things immediately (although I would have bought BTC next, so I would lose most of the money anyway). Cheesy

In my perspective bitcoin is not very secured, since nowadays there is no secured account, of your account become the target of the hackers, even how long your password is, or security code it has they can still bypass it. I have read some articles regarding with bitcoin has been hacked.

Considering the date (April 1), are you sure it wasn't an April Fool joke? Tongue

You shouldn't really conflate the security of the Bitcoin network with, what often amounts to, lack of adequate security practices from individual users and services. It's true that there have been a number of attacks on Bitcoin over the years, but none that the network hasn't been well able to cope with - see https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Common_Vulnerabilities_and_Exposures for more details.
367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Time to Buy? on: April 02, 2018, 05:28:01 AM
I think this time is the most suitable for buying Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies because of the price is lower than any other time. So if you want to make a profit from this platform then have to collect for the future purpose. If you are able to to do so before the price goes ups then you must gain when the price will be increased in the future. So don't miss the chance.

It's also true that many of us are becoming afraid of this momentum, a lot of people are thinking about the shutdown of this blockchain system but I think this momentum will bring to us a strong platform in the future. That's why we have to grab this opportunity for making a profit.

Shutdown of the blockchain? Regardless of the price, blockchain is a technology; nobody is going to "shut it down" (at most, someone will figure out a better way of doing the same thing, and replace that tech). Similarly, Bitcoin (and, I'm sure, many alts) won't be "shut down" (to the extent that even makes sense) no matter the price - someone, somewhere will keep on using them until something that better suits their needs comes along.

If you have available funds, then of course now is a very good time to buy bitcoin and altcoins.  We have not seen such prices on the crypto-currency market for a long time.  It is possible that after this fall a very good growth will begin.  The main thing now is to start a bull trend.

A long time: since November... a little over 4 months ago. Cheesy
368  Economy / Services / Re: FREE Tipster Competition (sponsored by DirectBet.eu) Signature Campaign on: March 25, 2018, 11:49:44 PM
Been missing DirectBet.eu a lot, all my best to them and Michelle for sure and supporters !

Smiley Hoping to see you guyz back.

Yeah, it would be great to see them around here again, maybe now also accepting bets over the Lightning Network - but I imagine they're probably busy with something else, in some tropical island paradise somewhere. Cheesy

Anyway, any suggestions of where I can bet on Bernie for US president in 2020? Hopefully that will go better than my last bet in 2016. Smiley

If you carefully studied everything about the block system, then you should understand that it is impossible to break into the block, as your wallet can not be hacked either. Now if you pass your passwords from a purse to another person, then you can suffer. Blocking is all users and that it would be necessary to hack all users to hack the system.

Just because it hasn't been done doesn't mean it's impossible. That said, Bitcoin certainly has a great track record so far, and much better than the competition, as others have pointed out above.

As for wallets, depending on what you're using, some can and have been known to be vulnerable to a variety of attacks in the past - take, for example, the "recent" JSONRPC vulnerability in Electrum (only finally patched in version 3.0.5).

373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do you believe that this man crashed Bitcoin this 2018? on: March 12, 2018, 03:21:33 PM
I guess binance trading bots hacked were the main reason of 7-8th of march dip. Though the news about Mt.Gox trustee selling loads of BTC/BCH didn't help too for sure. But in my opinion it was another try to manipulate the market with the information background. The sales took place since decemeber and weren't so large to dump the prices. But we've heard about it only last week aside with the bad news about regulation in USA and China to increase the panic sells.

Well, it didn't really help with the March 7 dip that the trustee stated:

"I plan to consult with the court and determine further sale of BTC and BCC,".

... while holding 166k BTC and, apparently, no regard for the market's stability. Hopefully, the remaining coins won't be sold (nor given to Karpeles), but instead returned to the creditors (I think the coins' fate will be determined sometime in September?).
374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why People Can Not Believe Bitcoin on: March 12, 2018, 02:07:39 PM
Beginners who went to the crypto-currency market this winter are most likely disappointed by the prolonged drop in the price of bitcoin.
Those who have long been in this market know that after strong falls bitcoin grows very much.
Let's hope that the time is not far off when bitcoin will start growing towards the new ATH.
Then all the newcomers will see what bitcoin is capable of and what crazy profit it can bring.

As much as I would like to see "that crazy profit" again, it might be better for Bitcoin's (and this whole space's) long term future for the price to climb slowly instead, for a couple of reasons: it will prevent FOMO and all the instability and nonsense that comes along with it, which ends up scaring people and any serious merchant adoption away; and it will give developers more time to get Bitcoin ready for prime time because, let's face it, the coin isn't ready for it yet. We need a very well tested and fully functional scaling solution (probably in the form of Lightning Network) and, hopefully, better privacy oriented improvements as well.
375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do you believe that this man crashed Bitcoin this 2018? on: March 12, 2018, 10:28:22 AM
i heard Mt gox trustee sold 30 thousand bitcoin so the market is crashed but this news is circulating in the market is it a person sold or a trustee sold right information is confused

Its the Mt. Gox trustee who have been doing this after all. He has been dumping the coins since December up to now that's why suddenly bitcoin is having a hard time to take off and when we are about to make a rally, this guy offloads then shit happens to the market.

I guess we are still can't get away with the ghost of Mt. Gox because up to know if keeps crashing the market and we don't know that intention of the trustee. Is he that dumb that everytime he solds has a drastic effect on the price or he is influence by someone so that they can take advantage and buy bitcoin at a cheap price?

Yes this is the fool who has been selling the MT GOX Bitcoins on exchanges instead of OTC. How can someone so uneducated about the markets be given the keys to such a large amount of Bitcoins is beyond my comprehension.

Usually ignorance is a sufficient explanation but, if these sales were all indeed done directly through market orders on exchanges (and not Off-The-Counter), it's hard not to believe some select people got a lot richer with their shorts. Roll Eyes

And it looks even worse when you consider that, regardless of whether this was the main cause of the crash (it was certainly not the only reason but), the trustee surely must have had the obligation not to decrease the value of the remaining assets (the BTC he still holds) - but the way he went about getting rid of the coins, with a few large market orders, clearly put the value of those assets at risk.
376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there something that Bitcoin was not blamed for yet? on: March 12, 2018, 09:08:50 AM
You can strike off "blamed for hindering the search for extra-terrestrial life" from the list of things it hasn't been blamed for: http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-43056744 ("Crypto-currency craze 'hinders search for alien life'") - other radio astronomers, as well as many gamers, are also not happy. Cheesy

Scientists listening out for broadcasts by extra-terrestrials are struggling to get the computer hardware they need, thanks to the crypto-currency mining craze, a radio-astronomer has said. Binance is ahead of all. Good volumes, a large selection of tokens / coins. Interesting, in recent times, huobi and kucoin, actively lose new coins
At the moment I choose Binance because it has many advantages that other commercial sites do not have, which is evidenced by the fact that although Binance is currently in development but the volume of transactions is as large as that of commercial sites. Binance is always my top choice for every trade.

Binance Kucoin and Huobi
Fast speed , cheap taxes and i like chinese projects Smiley Very nice idea and how its going . Hope it will have alot of future alts and good works without lags. Didnot like Kucoi before becose of alot of lags now i see is ok.

I have been experienced from OKEX,Such a good exchange having list of competitive coins with competitive rates. It allow more opportunities for trade and having strong security tools to secure the funds,Okex with attractive interface and user friendly  also quick response for quires.

i personally love to use Binance and okex exchanges, i choose them because i am holding bitcoin and few altcoins like ETH and NEO. so i want to optimize my profit and due to the volume of transctions is always high so i can earn sell and buy more faster, furthermore i use binance because it is a top exchange of china, a good exchange that support for their own coin NEO and listing new ICO coins every week.

Mainly for those of you who use OKex and Huobi, but possibly also for those who love Binance (which seems to be the majority): https://medium.com/@sylvainartplayribes/chasing-fake-volume-a-crypto-plague-ea1a3c1e0b5e.

If what is being reported there is true, and the conclusions accurate, those exchanges are faking the vast majority of their volume: over 90% of OKex's volume is apparently fake; for Huobi, that number is over 80%. The case for Binance's fake volume doesn't seem to be as clear, but you probably want to keep an eye out for any followups.

Binance is indeed a famous trading platform but Bittrex is more preferable for me than Kucoin. The UI of all the famous platforms is user friendly or else it was not possible for them to get millions of users. And if we talk about the problems than all the exchanges have some.

All have their own policies and charges according to it. Personally, I recommend to have more than one account on different exchanges. It is the securest way.

That carries its own risks though. Aside from holding, and often losing or stealing your coins, many exchanges (and certainly the largest among them) also hold significant amounts of your personal information: what you fill in so you can start using the site; often, photos of your documents; coin addresses linked to you; and all the data they can gather through your browser, IP, computer, general usage of the site and... who knows what else - the more accounts you create and verify, the more widespread that information is. And, as if the intended use of all that isn't bad enough, it also gets leaked often enough, permanently exposing your information for everyone to see, and potentially use, in the future - that's not very safe, if you ask me.
