361  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Innosilicon official reponse to Bitmine bankruptcy - Let the evidence talk on: July 11, 2015, 07:23:24 PM
The words "let the evidence talk" are even in the title - so where is it?

I was about to post the same thing.

has someone details about this?

What kind of details are you looking for? They are replacing their old gen chips with their newest 28nm chip!

Leave cypherdoc alone! Roll Eyes Since he contributed with "money and a whole lot of education and perspective on the finances and economics of Bitcoin" with his useless thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=68655.0 (cited from https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/3awomg/how_the_bitcoin_experiment_might_fail/csgtiwo)

Good find! Self-taught chip designer, not a self-taught logo designer Smiley

AM still trading on Havelock? The company seems dormant for some time.

370  Other / Meta / Re: An apology... on: June 12, 2015, 11:13:01 AM
Admittedly this was a very stupid mistake (and having returned the funds to the forum it cannot happen again) and I hope the moderators who have given me negative trust might consider removing it as I've never even come close to being a part of any sort of scam or deception on this forum before.

I am human, I love my wife and I made a very stupid mistake.

I am sorry.

Mistakes like this should be punished no matter how sorry you are and removing the negative trust just because you are sorry is a very stupid thing to do. If you want people to trust you in the future they must know about your stupid mistakes from the past. Next time think before acting!

New user. Anyone checked the download link? Is it safe?
372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Epicenter Bitcoin interview - Mike Hearn on: June 11, 2015, 08:05:53 PM
I see two basic possibilities:
 2)  There is disruption in fiat-land.

2R)  Bitcoin provides an accessible (unlike gold) means of wealth preservation for the non-politically-favored.  In that case it will be attacked by the corp/gov state with no holds barred and some abstract ideas about 'freedom to use Bitcoin' will be among the last of the rights that people will be worried about having lost.

When number 2 will happen the corp/gov state (I am sure that you are talking mainly about US here and not considering the rest of the countries) won't be able to do anything. Most of the US senate/gov is backed up by corporate money and when they will shift towards bitcoin the gov will be naked.

Yes, I do know the comments. They were listed in a secret subpeona that got leaked. More info, along with explanations why the comments are not threats and perfectly legal can be found here:
...

Ok. So you know the comments and your points are valid. Fair enough. US is really a joke state when it comes to this shit. Yes I am aware that they are also the greatest nation in the world and that they got us many many good things that can't compare with the other countries, but stuff like this and many others will also get them the fall even if they think that they are invincible.
373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Epicenter Bitcoin interview - Mike Hearn on: June 11, 2015, 02:14:00 PM
Another disturbing point: Hearn said very few bitcoin nodes are run through Tor. I don't know if that's true, but I think people who run full nodes from an IP that can be traced to them are very naive.

The fact that very few run through Tor makes your statement brainless and useless. I haven't heard of anyone having problems, but maybe you know something that I don't or you are just spreading useless FUD.

You're probably right. Yesterday I was probably extra paranoid because I saw the story that commenters on an article at Reason about the Silk Road were being targetted by a government prosecutor. In the light of the morning, I can see it's a little outlandish to think that the government will start targetting people because they ran a bitcoin full node. That would be like government revenue agencies targetting people because of their political activism. We're fortunate enough to live in a time and place when that sort of thing doesn't happen.

/s

Well this is what I call "knowing only half of the information". Do you know what were the actual comments that started this targeting?

Regarding nodes. Do you see a massive increase in people that get arrested for being a peer in the torrent network? Because I don't.
374  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: June 11, 2015, 08:44:38 AM
I feel a bit betrayed...
they took the money in preorders and grew on the backs of the small miners
now that they are at other level, they say: adios!
....

Isn't how business are supposed to grow? Do you know another way? At least they didn't went full retard mode like KnC did.

376  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 29 x Spondoolies SP30s for sale 7 BTC Each for the LOT on: June 10, 2015, 07:47:40 PM
I fail to see how 6.5 BTC is not a good price. BTC rate will be going up as soon as the economy bubble crashes because that's when people get rid of their fiat and buy Gold, and this time besides gold there is BTC. Sit tight and hold on to your miners and don't sell for dirt cheap.

Please no more arguing, this is the price and it's not coming down, either buy or ignore.

Wissam

I said 8 BTC not 6.5 BTC. Please pay attention or don't put words into my mouth. Good luck with your unrealistic (8BTC) sale.

Actually you paid ~10 BTC and you want 8 BTC after more than 6-7 months of usage.
377  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 29 x Spondoolies SP30s for sale 7 BTC Each for the LOT on: June 10, 2015, 01:45:13 PM
Well you can try and buy a brand new SP miner now if you like. Oh wait they don't sell them anymore... Besides they were not bought 1 year ago it's been since November so that's 7 months.

I would also like to buy a VW Polo 9N3, but they stopped making them in 2009 and nobody is asking the full price for a second hand car and nowhere near the full price of a new car so get real and lower the price.

What I see here is that you haven't considered that the exchange rate may go down and you never prepared for this. It's your call if you want to still mine with them or to sell them and by the looks of it the miners will stay in your possession. Good luck!

This is what I've posted on Reddit:
Quote
I have a couple of questions after listening to this episode. Mike was saying that we don't know what will happen when the backlog will keep growing.

Why don't we have some sort of "Staging" blockchain where we can test stuff happening? Why don't we have a live laboratory for these kind of tests? Are we only using math to predict stuff? ELI5!

sidechain anyone ?

Tongue

So you are telling me that since 2008 we didn't have any testing environment and that we had to wait for a new environment that is currently in alpha mode to be able to test stuff? Is this real life? Because I simply can't believe it!

Why don't we have a testing environment? It appears that nobody can answer this and this is surprising me. I am panicked right now!
379  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 29 x Spondoolies SP30s for sale 7 BTC Each for the LOT on: June 10, 2015, 06:32:04 AM
That is your opinion, if you find it cheaper elsewhere please go ahead and buy it else where. When we bought them we got them for $4500 each, so be happy that you are getting them for around $1800 or $1600 each if they buy the lot.

Actually you paid ~10 BTC and you want 8 BTC after more than 6-7 months of usage.

Your calculation takes into account when USD rate was 475, so your argument is void. At current rate our purchase price would be 21 BTC, so 7 BTC is not a bad deal.

We would consider 6.5 BTC if you continue hosting with our hosting provider which is cheap and charges a low $75 /KW/Month.

Wissam

And your assumption of 21 BTC is for the price that you paid for a brand new miner almost 1 year ago. Like every used thing the value deprecates so the real value now isn't $4500. When SP-Tech sold out the SP31 miners the price was $2k for a brand new miner, not used like yours so if we take the brand new miner price and we adjust it to the current exchange rate it is ~9BTC so your argument is useless*. So don't try to sell a used car with the a price that is higher than a new car.

*I am aware that converting a price from a few months ago to the current exchange rate is a bit strange, but I did it to show how wrong you are.
