361  Economy / Economics / Re: Is PayPal plannning to Launch of Own Stablecoin? on: January 21, 2022, 07:24:00 PM
Please don't invest in it if they do launch one.

It would essentially be a tokenised version of Paypal funds itself, which is still going to be prone to the fees and restrictions that come with a Paypal account.

I wouldn't be surprised if Paypal decided to take a centralized approach to this token and facilitated chargebacks/token burns as they wished.
362  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: January 20, 2022, 05:54:08 AM
Watching the end of this Lakers game and it suddenly got ugly. No surprise that they blew the game with Howard on the bench again… It makes no sense…

One positive thing about the game was that LeBron got his 10,000th rebound. That makes him the only player in NBA history to have 30,000 points, 10,000 rebounds, and 9,000 assists. A pretty impressive feat. I think he’s likely to get to 10,000 assists before he’s done as well. Statistically the best to ever do it.

LeBron is simply one of a kind.

But the Lakers are seriously struggling. They need someone to come in right now in lieu of AD because Russ is simply not stepping up. His decision making has always been terrible and this season has been no exception whatsoever.

Austin Reaves and Stanley Johnson shouldn't be the people saving the Lakers.
363  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling elementary tools on: January 19, 2022, 10:19:15 PM
Havant has been around this gambling scene for a while I have constantly been confronted with this simple question from newbies in gambling, and this question is simply put to me, what are the fundamental skills that a newbie without experience should start with. The first step and a guide to a newbie.

Learn statistics and probability.

I'm going to assume that this is for someone who is trying to become a serious gambler who makes a living off of games of chance. If you are just a casual then you can start playing whenever (your odds are not going to be significantly better by learning a strategy).

But if you are trying to become an AP or sports tipster, then you need to understand EV, variance and basic probability.
364  Economy / Economics / Re: Grayscale Bitcoin Fund Sinks Near 30% Discount on Bitcoin Price. on: January 19, 2022, 08:36:12 PM
I feel like the people who invest in this fund is simply paying a tax for not understanding how to use bitcoin directly.

Imho it makes zero sense for people to be investing in GBTC even at these discounts - I would only hold BTC for the reason of protecting against a fiat/government collapse, which is not going to be the case for a bitcoin fund.

But seems like that markets are anticipating a much worse fall in BTC prices in this bear cycle still... Which is interesting.
365  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any website without a dispute here? on: January 16, 2022, 03:05:56 AM
I guess I have seen disputes/complain against all the crypto casinos out there. Every day, in the scam accusation section, we have to new accusation thread against casinos. It even includes all the reputed casinos, new casinos. I mean none has an exception. I can't remember if there is a casino that never receive any accusation here in the scam accusation board; maybe betbtc.co is an exception which is closed now. Did you find these ridiculous? Did not a casino run properly? I believe there are issues from the side of the gamblers as well but you can't deny that casinos take advantage a lot of times.

There are a few consensus picks that you can't really go wrong with:
- Bitsler
- Stake
- Just-dice.

I guess you could argue that Stake has had its fair share of issues but that has mostly come in the form of complaints against voluntary self-exclusion, which is not necessarily something you would need to worry about if you are disciplined.
Lately, it is really about self exclusion problem or issues on Stake but the rest of those issues are those common ones but yet been resolved which i dont really have any
doubts with Stake yet this had been one of the most known and popular gambling sites in the market. There might be some issues but those are just temporal
and could really be resolved out later on.Finding the best and known ones is just a matter of few clicks and searches.

I agree.

I'm not too fussed regarding the allegations against Stake because they are mostly surrounding one very grey issue and there is no actual disputes when it comes to the core functions of the website (i.e. deposits and withdrawals).

and besides, check the validity of the complaint or dispute. usually, it is because of the player's negligence like violating the terms of the casino. and they will only realise that they violated such once they are about to withdraw their funds. so yeah, you can find a lot of reputable sites here and you can always check the complaints thrown to them. is it because of the site or the player?
definitely, there will always be an unhappy customer for every site or casino.

Yeah for sure, super important that you don't fall into the trap of being turned off by one negative experience - every site has one of these.
366  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What will be the next big industry move? on: January 16, 2022, 02:29:37 AM
Actually I don't what will the regulators next approach on the next generation Online Casino since most of them is moving toward Web 3.0 format which is a completely decentralized. I wonder how can they still regulate or required KYC procedure for gamblers that playing on exceeding amount of the required for the KYC.

I doubt that there is much that they can do.

Which is probably a good thing given that regulatory issues have always plagued the crypto gambling industry, and has forced casinos to instate draconian KYC procedures at times.

With these new Web3 innovations, it can be possible that there will be much less red tape and therefore more efficiency in the gaming experience for users.
367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Trust Token Stablecoins on: January 15, 2022, 10:39:44 PM
I just wanted to get the community's opinion on whether Trust Token based stablecoins are trustworthy?

Are they subject to the same problems as USDT and USDC, or are they marginally better in those regards?

I think that they are one of the only platforms to offer a AUD based stablecoin, which is definitely very attractive to us Aussies. Would like a bit of confirmation before I proceed with an investment though.
368  Economy / Economics / Re: 12% of First-Time Homebuyers Say Selling Crypto Helped Save for Down Payment on: January 15, 2022, 07:38:25 AM
Granted that figure is probably overestimating crypto adoption figures given that there is a significant bias towards young people who are rich, but crypto is really going to mainstream now.

And the fact that you are able to save for your first deposit without having to worry about depreciation of your fiat is definitely much more empowering than any government first home buyer schemes.

Well done to these people.
369  Economy / Speculation / Re: Supercycle or Halving cycle still? on: January 15, 2022, 07:02:45 AM
I think that there will still be a great correction due to the end of the halving cycle.

But at the same time, I think that it is quite futile to try to time the markets by buying in exactly at the market bottom - you are simply not going to be able to do that, and the long term trajectory is clearly that we are in a crypto supercycle that will continue to be bullish for the next 5-10 years.

So don't take on leverage, keep stacking, and you will be fine regardless of where the price goes.
370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether is centralized, is it worth holding on: January 15, 2022, 06:51:07 AM
I don't think it's a problem, stable coins are more suitable for centralization so that whoever holds them never worries about losing money due to various reasons and problems with decentralization, in fact I prefer centralization so that anyone doesn't worry about transferring money to stable coins.

That's false.

As a stablecoin holder, you definitely need to be cognizant of the risks associated with a centralized reserve regime. Otherwise you are not only lending out your fiat for free to the provider, and taking on all the default risk of the stablecoin provider.

Tether is very risky to hold for the long run, and I would not hold it as I said unless I get some great APRs for doing so on some DeFi farming strategy. There is no point denying that.
371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: an opportunity or preliminary start of bear market?? on: January 15, 2022, 06:28:33 AM
Market was impressive since last year. But after the start of 2022, market start going down and down. It has been saying that, We'll face the bearish market in 2022. Besides lots of people optimistic too & I'm one of them. I thought market will bounce back after weekend end and so many days have gone and no improvement. Yesterday i saw market recovering but now again failed. Still have ether, bnb and others altcoins that i haven’t sold. I don’t understand this is an opportunity or the preliminary start of bear market

Why are the two terms mutually exclusive?

I do think that this is the start of a new bear market, because markets are overbought right now and there is way too much crazy stuff going on in the space of Web3.0 and NFT.

However, for long term accumulators I think that this is a perfect time to start DCAing their bags - BTC, ETH are both looking relatively cheap atm.
372  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Solana still bullish now? on: January 15, 2022, 06:16:15 AM
I would say that in the long run, SOL would be one of my strongest holds.

It's got the backing of FTX CEO which is a huge deal in this space, and there are a ton of DeFi and NFT applications that are already deployed on the blockchain which makes it very practical.

Theoretical TPS is also tremendous, which is exactly what we need for the DeFi space moving forward.
373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Claiming BAT in brave browser on: January 14, 2022, 11:59:06 PM
How does one use Brave browser to earn BAT? I've been using the browser for months now and I was told to verify before claiming rewards I don't know how to go about this anyone ?

I have never been asked to do verification.

They rewards are paid monthly afaik and processed directly to your wallet, there is no need to do anything else.

You shouldn't have to do anything to earn these rewards either - if you want to increase your rewards the max you can do really is to increase the time you spend using Brave. I have it as a secondary browser and I earn around $0.5-1 per month, not too shabby for doing next to nothing.

are you using their new wallet? because if it is uphold or gemini, they require KYC, that is, if you will link your brave to these wallets.

i haven't tried the new one but if you will just connect via metamask, for sure, there's no need of KYC here.

the good thing about earning BAT, is that if you will just use brave as your main browser, just forget that you are earning while using it. it is free so why not? but of course, don't expect high earnings. because it depends on the ads that you will received per month. just accumulate and after some time, you have free money.

I haven't gotten verified because they never asked me to...? So I just assumed that I can keep doing it without having to do KYC.

I don't use Metamask, I just use the proprietary wallet that they've given me on signup.

In fact, I've got like 2 separate Brave wallets across 2 devices without any issue/verification. I do agree, it is overlooked, people should use it not only for the rewards though but Brave Browser also protects your privacy in the process.
374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Speculation about biggest airdrops of 2022 on: January 14, 2022, 11:48:51 PM
LooksRare actually turned out to be one of the biggest so far.

A lot of my friends who traded NFTs extensively got the full $30k airdrop which is absolutely insane.

I think that the token will continue to go up because of the incentives associated with it as well as the rewards that you can get from holding/staking it. Opensea is now considered one of the least user-friendly NFT marketplaces out there despite its size, and it is slowly dying because its inability to tokenize its community.
375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether is centralized, is it worth holding on: January 14, 2022, 10:59:55 PM
I think that it's all about Risk-Reward.

The deposit rates on Tether offered by major DeFi protocols may make it attractive to hold Tether in the short run, for instance I know plenty of pools offering 20%+ APR on Tether pairs.

But if you are merely holding it as a "savings account", you are doing it wrong. Not only does Tether not pay out any interest, they have fractional reserve issues, and obviously they are incredibly centralized and may make very arbitrary decisions regarding their tokens.
376  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How reasonable is the long-term investment in Altcoins? on: January 14, 2022, 10:53:15 PM
You know, it feels like DAOLaunch is a kind of SpaceX in the crypto investing field. Their DVC-NFT system is an invention that will change all everybodies understanding about crypto trading
There are so many good smaller projects and coins in the market, but it seems that most of these projects are being overshadowed by Bitcoin and Ethereum. Just like when it comes to the smart chain side, you would always be seeing ethereum overshadowing most other platforms. Sometimes when you check, Ethereum is usually better than most of these new platforms , though they might seem to be better at first.

Because, come to think of it, if the new platforms were really that much good, then developers would have been abandoning the ethereum platform today, because these other new platforms are even promising better fees and faster transaction and so many other good features. But at the end we still see the developers choose Ethereum platform, because of one thing that might be lacking in the new platforms.

Exactly.

If you were to invest in alts for the long run, you need to make sure that you are holding blue chip projects that have proven themselves to be effective.

The worst thing that you can do when it comes to a long term project is not necessarily having low growth potential, but rather high volatility which may make you panic sell in the spur of the moment. There are so many "fad" coins out there that are just forks of existing projects that aren't worth a second look at.
377  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do people overestimate BTC? on: January 14, 2022, 10:35:39 PM
Now that we are in 2022 is 100k per BTC still possible? It seems no one is talking about this price anymore and now BTC is fighting at the 40k range, what do you think could still happen? Also it seems like altcoins have no high chances again unless BTC do the impossible

I think that it is deserved simply because it has the most liquidity out of all the coins still and it is the most widely adopted.

It's not necessarily the technology that makes BTC valuable, but its time proven efficacy in holding its value.

ETH is definitely undervalued relative to BTC though, I feel, since most of the new innovation is happening on the ETH chain rather than BTC.
378  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Your Expectation About Polygon (MATIC) Token for 2022 on: January 14, 2022, 10:29:37 PM
It will honestly depend on whether ETH2.0 comes out or not.

If it does come out, then I think that MATIC will suffer a bit because L2 scaling solutions may not be as important as otherwise proclaimed.

If it doesn't, expect a huge bull run and increase in TVL in MATIC DeFi protocols - it is pretty much the only feasible way for people to continue using DeFi as retail investors other than using some other chain.
379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Shiba Inu Coin a better investment than Dogecoin? on: January 14, 2022, 10:17:11 PM
Neither of these projects have a valid use-case. They are meme-coins. Speculative gambling at best.
I’d be lying if I said I never owned any. But just a few dollars here or there. These aren’t serious projects for real investors. And they probably won’t be around in the next 10 years.

First of all, good on you for recognizing that they are mere speculations.

In addressing hype potential I think that Doge has way more long term upside due to the fact that:

a) It came earlier compared to SHIB
b) It has a much stronger brand image compared to SHIB and
c) It actually has some use case since it has its own chain, rather than being a mere "token".
