361  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is merit necessary for my survival here on: January 31, 2024, 02:59:18 PM
Greetings everyone!

I really want to know if merit is necessary in other to secure my account, my friend who introduced this site to me said, I must have merit

Please how do I get this merit and how is it important.

What did your friend told you you needed merit for? Sometimes we easily got misinformed by the way others introduced us to some certain things, you only need merits to rank up from one rank to another which is by choice and not by force, either you earn it or not, you're not going to be denied access to your Bitcointalk account, it has nothing to even do with what you do here except that you can't put on avatar except you're a full member and you can't post images except you're a Jr member or purchase a corper membership rank, every other things remains the same with you and other members of higher ranks.
362  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Crypto exchanges license difficulty in Nigeria on: January 31, 2024, 09:13:11 AM
If someone or group of people that wants to establish an exchange in Nigeria do not have up to that amount of money, did you think that exchange would be secure enough? There are people that would be employed for security purposes and also that to setup an exchange these days would require huge amount of money. I do not know if these people that are complaining are right or wrong. So you have anything to post about this? How much in naira do you think can be a good startup for new exchanges in Nigeria?

What the SEC will first put in consideration is the liquidity asset that individual or group of people is having and they will make assessmenet on that before giving approval, am not also surprised that they would have required this much or even more just for them to be able to have a good ground for granting them licence for operation9, this is something very common to most organizations that when they want to seek approval from governments, they must have this strong financial backup to stand in for them because one of the things that will be firstly considered is their liquidity, that's why some prefer merging with others to create a joint business Incase they are not financially up to the required standard.
363  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When I'm emotional, I LOSS! on: January 30, 2024, 05:03:50 PM
The moment that we discover the reason to some of our losses then we begin to apply more caution to how being emotional or nervous we are each time we are gambling, this will really affect the result we should have because by then, we are no longer ourself or being under the same person we have always been than only been controlled emotionally by every of our actions when gambling, this can be dealt with by how we discipline ourselves, we cannot keep affording to loosing things at the expense of our own personal behaviors from what we do.
364  Other / Off-topic / Re: Before you start gambling, do some research first on: January 30, 2024, 04:24:20 PM
It's good to have a source of income at first before you start gambling but I want to talk about this even more, do you know that even with your source of income you might be at one spot and not move forward?

This is very possible, not everyone gambling is having the same orientation as we do and have that kind of understanding on what gambling is all about, we are not gambling in the guess to make it as an investment, we shouldn't deceive ourselves, and we we think we already have our money then wish to use it on gambling, we may lost everything to gambling and get broke or have nothing to add upon our business source of income than gambling taking away finances from us, with this, our business cannot move forward because we are not planning well enough without any not been affected.
365  Other / Meta / Re: Email used to create this forum? on: January 30, 2024, 03:33:58 PM
Does anyone know what email was used to create this forum?  BTC

At the end of the day when you would have achieve having numerous response on this, the question for you also now is that, what relevance has this got to do with you when you find out, what are you going to use it for, sometimes we get ourselves into unnecessary headache on this that doesn't matters when someone like you would have invested on more quality time on things that could be impactful about the forum or even bitcoin.
366  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Leap year na bull period for all sectors; Get the best out of it. on: January 30, 2024, 01:13:00 PM
I don't know much about a leap year bounty harvest and all that first comes my mind when I see this was a bounty harvest on cryptocurrencies not knowing you're even referring on something entirely different, but concerning food items, i know of them bein seasonal and they are mostly annual or biennial harvest seasons except for other fruit tress that extends to three to five years before their season approaches, but unto leap year you have mentioned, i don't think i have much idea about how that affect the seasonal periods of how the food items markets seasons runs.
367  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: gambling for fun vs gambling for the financial benefit. on: January 29, 2024, 08:36:29 PM
This is all about what we want, we can choose to be gambling for making money and having fun altogether, we can choose either of the two instead base on what we have chosen as our choice in gambling, but in whatever decision we arrived on, we should never forget that it is expected of us to always have fun while gambling and that we cannot make gambling as our ultimate source of income which we can rely on because we often loose than winning each time we are having fun in gambling.
368  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are every activities/competitions with stake known to be gambling? on: January 29, 2024, 07:29:52 PM
Me: Gambling is a game of chances to winning or loosing where stakes are involved. It is an activity of personal desires to decide if you derives chasing after profits or catching funs.

However you tends to define gambling, it would be incomplete if stakes, risks and challenging activities (competitions) are not mentioned.

You can defined it your way but my interest is to understand this>>> Are sports games or related competitive activities which stakes are involved between both sides or teams also gambling?
Remember, there would be a winner to be rewarded and a looser to lost the stakes.

Anything that involves staking an amount of money is gambling, this may be in sports, politics or any or discussion or arguments as long as money is being involved it's called gambling because we are staking on what we are making argument or discussion on, that stake is what makes the difference, one doesn't have to go to the casino house before he knows he's gambling, if we can stake money on anything we have with others then we have just gambled.
369  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Honeypot websites are dangerous for our privacy - BEWARE on: January 29, 2024, 06:03:57 PM
I can also detest any cold storage that is not open source, the question we can firstly ask is why are they not being open with their source code, we have to know more about what we want and how we could achieve the best and desirable things of interest to us, this is all about our security and how we could avoid being under attack by any means aimed at us, this information is going to be very useful as many will have an idea on the possible means they could get attacked by some files, wallets or websites they are used to and not too good for their safety.
370  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Who has tried buying via Bank on: January 29, 2024, 04:36:18 PM
I don't know if there are others still feeling cautious towards the ban been lifted
I personally haven't tried it
So would like to ask has anybody tried buying via bank?
If so how was the experience compare to P2P?

Hearing about Social engineering has affirmed my decision not to share my number via P2P.

The lift is just to allow the citizens use bitcoin or any other cryptocurrencies at their own risk, however, the banks were not allowed to get involved in any of these, it could be recalled that before the ban, banks were permitted to engage in cryptocurrencies until the announcement was made to stop them, so as at now, you can't use the p2p network through the banks they are still under ban, but every individual can choose to engage it on their own self.
Thank you for the answer. I still don't get
Even with the ban of 2021, individuals have already been using p2p
I see no changes with the ban lift according to what you said.
What I read is that banks are banned from transacting and holding cryptocurrency on their own behalf (meaning banks can't buy and sell cryptos for themselves)
But I don't really see where the it was stated that individuals can't buy through their bank.

Further clarity would be appreciated.

I got your point here, but let's try to expand the view and discuss it broader, right before the ban on the use of crypto, the government supported everyone using it and they can go through the banks as well, now after the ban in 2021, the banks where affected and the government only make a release that using cryptocurrency could be dangerous for it's citizens and advise them to stay away, it's not a legal endorsement anymore for anyone to use it since the government is not approving it then, but it's not also an illegal act then for someone to use bitcoin.

Just that you're on your own risk doing something the government doesn't support even though it's not against the law as at the time of the ban, the only restrictions made is limited to the banks and government itself to abstain from using it, any citizens may choose to go by such warning or not, as for some of us that are still using it as at then, we also go on a low key for security reasons.

374  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who is top bitcoin competitor? on: January 27, 2024, 02:31:43 PM
Does it mean no coin hosted on the blockchain will gain mass adoption enough to bypass the users of bitcoin?

Yes, none for now, there is a unique standard bitcoin has proven in which none could compete yet with it, name it, is is fiat that you will say is now better than bitcoin or any other cryptocurrencies like Ethereum and their likes could withstand competing with bitcoin.

The government own billions of population, and by setting her face against bitcoin is a competitor, but doesn't seem to prove that they're a top bitcoin competitor without having a downward course in the process.

Government are not it's competitors, they are only taking fake rumours around about to get people discouraged while they have never succeeded in any of their attacks.

Last question please forgive me, what stops them from building a coin on the block chain that'll bypass the total sum of bitcoin users, and regulate it?

They can't, it will be centralized if they do so and the people wanted a decentralized digital currency and not the one that will subject them under centralized authorities like we've been used to with fiat.
375  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Dollar increase on: January 27, 2024, 01:07:00 PM
But the question I could love to ask is bitcoin and dollar related or does increase in dollar affects bitcoin rates

Let's try to expatiate it, there's difference between dollar a d bitcoin first , the united state dollars is fiat and bitcoin is a cryptocurrency which is a digital decentralized coin, if the dollar is being affected either positively or negatively, we are going to see it's effects only on naira, exchange rate of naira to USD will either rise or fall, same as well if the Nigerian economy is getting better or worse, our own local currency is what gets affected the most, while the whole of this has nothing to do with the bitcoin market price to rise or fall for any reason because they are entirely different currencies, system and network.
376  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Crypto Academy on: January 27, 2024, 12:19:52 PM
I also want to use this opportunity to advise youths out their roaming around the street stealing and causing all kinds of nonsense why not look for legit way to make money online, maybe after learning about Bitcoin, you might go into its investment or trading to make extra cash. Currently now, we have several persons who sells Bitcoin and other crypto locally and they are making money from it.

Those of us who got majority of our knowledge about Bitcoin from this forum please let take out time to appreciate the forum.

There are many digital technology opportunities on the internet, but how many are ready to learn, some are too used to living a particular kind of lifestyle and can't adapt to change even when the opportunity for that comes, they prefer getting money with ease by all means not even minding if it gets them into trouble, that is why we should take it a responsibility to take good care of the young ones before they are exposed to the circular world full of many social vices.
377  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: While placing bet what comes your mind on: January 26, 2024, 03:40:08 PM
Two things always pop in my mind each time am gambling, the time frame I have to use in gambling and the rate I want to use for each specific bet am playing while gambling, from my first response which is about time frame, I will play bet base on how free and being chanced I am while gambling may my free time, there are time I will like to stake bets with the mindset of staying long to enjoy playing more and there are times it's just once and for all, I may not have that much time in playing, so I would prefer having it once and use the entire budget for the day that same time.
378  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The harvest (Proof urself worthy to earn). on: January 26, 2024, 02:20:49 PM
The real essence of labour is the harvest. In relation to the forum, the beginning stage is not easy as a newcomer needs to be patient. Atleast for a newcomer they should be  getting no matter how little some reward for their resources in terms of time and materials. The harvest is the benefit (merit).

Sorry you're wrong here, the harvest isn't the merit you earned, it's all about the knowledge you've earned, merits is just to showcase on how far you have contributed which has indeed touched someone who feels you deserve to be merited.

when I started discussing my activities and involvement in the forum to some people around me about it, the next question is," how much have u earned", I was absolutely discourage as I remained mute till date. I was seen as a mentor until they got to realise that no pay until time "proves u worthy".

I don't know the kind of people and members you move with and are telling you all manner of these, in life, don't chase about money, go after the means to make the money, with your knowledge, you can be ten times better than then and this could e even gives you higher prospects ahead of them.
379  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin price speculation (BTC/NGN) on: January 26, 2024, 11:00:01 AM
The increase not dollar in the country is getting out of hand. And some people think that when dollar increase their hodling will also increased but that might be correct but they have forgotten that $1 which is equivalent to #1400 now is also equal to what you buy as well and if you calculate very well you will discovered that what you earn and the increase in dollar, you are di one who loss out because expenses will eat up your funds..so instead let's think how dollar can reduce to the normal price again. If dollar is high, then you hodling of Bitcoin is always affect because you are not using Bitcoin to buy food or clothes but the fiat currency and you must change your Bitcoin to fiat so what is the need of advocating for the increase in dollar.

And we should not forget that it's not only us in the country but poor people are also there. Do you think of them as well?

Rightly said, yesterday I say make I enter market to buy somekind things for my self. Omor wattin I eye see just trouble my heart, something of N6k in the month of December now Dem say na N13k when I waka like 5 place  and the price just dey stagnant na for there I take know say these people no dey play at all. So as dollar dey increase e dey affect us individually nobody go fit escape.

Omor the price of Bitcoin just dey shock everybody, because the price predictions and expectations don too many for the price to dip like this. Anyway we don get small hit why the price dey dump. Grayscale selling that huge amount of Bitcoin just be like price manipulation. But this na opportunity to buy more.

source

this is not even about the bitcoin price now that we are in, the market is getting worse day by day through the effect of what the economy condition of the country is, you can know this about the exchange rate of dollars to naira, as at today, you will get it done at the rate of #1,407 to #1,430 per 1USD, what are we to say concerning this and the affairs of the country economy, we cant be having it going like this, this isn't the expected change we are all waiting for.
380  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much knowledge is enough to satisfy an individual on: January 25, 2024, 04:23:33 PM
Even in this forum I have also seen high ranked members who are staff and with thousands of posts and merits yet they also post every day hoping to be merited as well , and the question again here Is when will they be satisfied?

Is this your assumption or you are sure you really know what you're talking about, if you look at the staffs you're talking about, most of them don't even have merits like other members do, make your research well.

Finally , I have also seen my friends bitcoin wallet with so many coins in dollars yet they buy bitcoin every day , trade everyday , HODL coins everyday , so the question here is when will they be satisfied?

When will you also get satisfied of eating and stop completely, have you heard of this statement that the rich keeps getting richer, do you know the reason behind why they keep getting richer, they are never tired of looking for money.
