361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [THUNDERCLAP CONTEST] Win more than 2 BTC with your social power/two clicks. on: May 07, 2015, 03:54:50 PM
4 DAYS LEFT

And I just registered Grin How do we know who won? And how can you prove its fair?  Roll Eyes

Here's what I'd do (to prove it's fair) if I was running it:
  • Create a public numbered list of each supporter. Format (alphabetical, date, size, whatever) doesn't matter because we'll be hashing the names
  • Hash each supporter using this
  • Create a second public list showing ticket #, public hash & supporter name. Ticket numbering format would be descending-alphanumerical order by first number/letter
  • Have the community pick 5 future ShadowCash Blocks as the "lucky blocks" for helping in determining the winners
  • Using this website enter the # of tickets & the last 10 digits of the hash from the first "lucky block"
  • Winning ticket #1 is picked.
  • Process is repeated 4 more times with the public hash list being condensed by 1 ticket each time before next drawing
  • In the end, all 5 winners are chosen, # of supporters is verified by Thunderclap supporter list, public hashes are verified by http://hash.online-convert.com/sha256-generator, ticket order format is verified by rules of alphanumerical ordering, and ticket picking is randomly done by http://we.lovebitco.in/raffle.html

All the steps above can be recreated by every community member with the same results, thus proveably fair.

September 10:

VERIFIED protocol launch:

The VERI protocol will run on top of the VIRAL blockchain. The VERIFIED protocol will create a decentralized social network that allows users to further monetize their daily social media activities. For a limited period of time, users will be able to burn their VIRAL for Verified tokens (VERI). The VERI tokens will be limited in quantity and be required to further partake in the network. VERI will be to VIRAL as XCP is to BTC.

Could you explain this in more depth?
  • Will VERI ultimately be the platform to VIRAL profit sharing? (I'm assuming "yes")
  • So TWITTER token, FACEBOOK token, ADSENSE token, etc...?
  • Will tokens be user created or Dev team created?
  • Will holders of VERI be rewarded with other tokens (similar to SWARM crowdfunding)?
  • What value will VERI bring market-wise? Being limited quantity will it be worth more than VIRAL or will it be worth less because it's not an investment coin it's more of a fuel coin (similar to ETHER for Ethereum)?

So now the ico is today? But I was told next week. Now I need to rush and find more btc before this is over. Sad

Bye, going to buy btc asap.

You have plenty of time. There is a 200BTC wall @ .00007878 and the exchange's Total Volume per day is 50BTC/day.
Meaning, I'll be surprised they unload all of it before 5 days over

What happens with the remaining coins that don't sell? Do they get distributed to early adopters?

Is it just me, or does the wallet consumes less memory after the fork?
Seems like for me it dropped almost ~50 %

SHA requires way less than Scrypt

-talks are already under way with operators of agora and a few others to port over to the Crave network when it's ready. Some people may use Sling road and shadowmarket...however I'll tell you guys right now the big fish will be operating their own markets. Also those markets will be flush with good products.

You realize you're describing a Centralized Market still don't you? The push is to decentralize so places like Agora can't run off with the money.

Buyer > Agora > Seller > Agora > Buyer.
Lose the middle man and the risk.
Buyer > Seller > Buyer.

You're just speculating that 1 month old Crave is going to be the darknet token over ~6 year old BTC.

Trace Mayer gave ShadowCash another shoutout in a recent video May 1st, at the 31min mark: https://youtu.be/wmY-f1SX7aU?t=30m45s

Trace is a really smart guy and early Bitcoiner interested in anonymity.  He promoted Bitcoin as an investment since the price was about 5 cents to 25 cents per bitcoin.  He has invested in many Bitcoin businesses as well like Armory, BitPay, Kraken, SatoshiDice, and many others. He also has the websites runtogold.com and howtovanish.com

He was also mentioning homomorphic encryption, cryptonote, and indistinguishability obfuscation for more anonymous currencies.  I know Rynomster the lead SDC dev mentioned that homomorphic encryption was one of the things they were looking at for the future, as well as SNARKS.

For anyone interested, Trace was mentioning ShadowCash in another video a bit ago as well(18:40 mark): https://youtu.be/50_NfitNTkI?t=18m39s

He was mentioning ring signatures, zero knowledge proofs, SNARKS, and the ShadowCash whitepaper.  He says that ShadowCash is an example of where the libertarians may need to go as Bitcoin becomes more mainstream and regulated.  I think he is spot on with his analysis.

If anyone wants to check out some of his shows, he has the Bitcoin Knowledge podcast, it seems pretty good: http://www.bitcoin.kn/

Trace Meyer also did the initial write-up on ShadowCash for weusecoins.com
https://www.weusecoins.com/what-is-shadowcash/

I cleaned it up a bit: https://github.com/sunnankar/wuc-new/pull/31

Talking about HYP as High PoS versus 750% High PoS sounds better anyways. I see the topic header was changed to that effect, good move.

Roughly how much BBR integration code has been written?  Is the answer zero, almost zero, or some?

I'd like to know the answer to this as well. Thanks!

Update: Tuesday, 28 April 2015

Developer Q&A for ShadowMarket!

The Shadow Project development team is racing to finish Shadow’s decentralized marketplace and bring you a truly anonymous e-commerce platform, but that doesn’t mean we’re leaving you all on the sidelines. Now that the ShadowMarket release is drawing closer, we will try answering all of your questions so we can share with you our vision for the first truly anonymous decentralized marketplace.

The developer Q&A will provide an opportunity for non-developer end users and community members to ask questions about the upcoming ShadowMarket directly to some of the developers responsible for writing the code. Keep in mind that ShadowMarket is still under development, so we may not be able to answer all of your questions, but we have plenty of info to share, so we’re sure we can satisfy your curiosity.

For this Q&A, we’ll gather most of your questions on Slack (#ShadowQnA), so be sure to join the community to take part. You can also submit your questions via Twitter by using the hashtag #ShadowQnA, or simply by replying to this forum thread. As we’d like to get to as many questions as possible, we’ll only consider questions that use 50 words or less, and all questions must be submitted before Friday, May 8. Keep in mind that we’re focusing on the ShadowMarket for this Q&A session—questions on other topics will not be answered.

We look forward to reading and answering all of your questions.

Best regards,

The Shadow Team

I'd really recommend an AMA Reddit session hosted at /r/ShadowCash for widest market reach.
  • drives folks to our reddit page
  • is "live" and can spur on follow up questions and discussions which tend to be the most helpful
  • will put names with "faces" - more personal
  • probably other things...
373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [THUNDERCLAP CONTEST] Win more than 2 BTC with your social power/two clicks. on: April 28, 2015, 04:08:29 PM
What do my friends need to do to enter the contest? Not exactly clear. Just support the Thunderclap with their social media? The 1:26 odds currently is confusing because it's had over 160 supporters, not 26.

Thanks in advance.

That is normal man, read Smiley

There will be five winners in this contest. At the end, there will be five people out of (currently) 187 who are going to win 1/5 of the Contest wallet !

Ah, I see. It's math not english. 185 / 5 = 37.

I have found exactly zero (0) times Gavin A. has come onto BCT after bitcoin has halved or more and talked about the price of the token and ease "investor's" concerns.

Bitcoin was created to change the WORLD, not line OUR pockets. ie: It ain't in the job description

Good to see SDC back down below 40K. Call me crazy, but I love it down here... and so does my wallet!  Cool

Thanks for the Christopher Walken to start the week! Made me laugh Smiley

Hey rookie question here- how does one remove a private key from a wallet?

dumpprivkey <shadowcoinaddress>

maybe? need verification from someone who knows the command line better

No that just displays it.

Only thing I know to work is pywallet, but that's for bitcoin.

Code:
Release Notes
+
+
+Version 1.3.2.0
+
+Changes
+ - Implemented PoS V2
+
+
+ - Removed Thin mode staking
+    The network relies on full nodes for security.
+    Staking should be a reward for maintaining a full node.
+
+
+ - Removed hash from DiskBlockIndex
+    hash is saved in the key, no need to save it twice, 32 bytes saved per block
+    Key prefix "blockindex" changed to "bidx", 36 bytes saved per block
+
+
+    The TXDB version has been raised to 70510.
+
+    On first boot the nodes will wipe any database before 70509 and initialise
+    a reindex, which will reload the TXDB from the stored blockchain.
+
+    For Databases of verson 70509 an migration will run, significantly faster
+    than a reindex.  All existing nodes should be on txdb version 70509.
+
+    Thin nodes don't store the blockchain and will need to redownload.
+
+    Note: Reindexing the chain could cause your failed stake transactions to be
+    detected as occuring during the reindex, and displayed at the top of the
+    transaction list.  They can be removed by running clearwallettransactions
+    followed by reloadanondata.
+
+
+
+ - Enabled unit tests
+    Compile: make -f makefile.unix test_shadow
+    Run: ./test_shadow --log_level=10
+
+
+
+
+ - printstakemodifier, printcoinstake and printcoinage are replaced by debugpos
