The website is stupid.

It's a Bitcoin address and a countdown to the 4th July.

I am from the UK but is that independence day?

Yup
3602  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitVegas: The first provably fair Minecraft Casino that gives you free Bitcoins on: May 08, 2013, 05:23:08 AM
Very incredible, you certainly have put a lot of thought/effort into this.

Will be sure to connect and take a look myself at some point.
3603  Economy / Speculation / Re: [poll] 200$ bitcoins? on: May 08, 2013, 05:20:09 AM
Next two weeks seems unlikely, but I'd be willing to gamble a great amount that they will rise over $200 once again.
3604  Economy / Goods / Re: Help us design our next generation of Bitcoin hats on: May 08, 2013, 05:19:30 AM
Very nice, I think something very simple would be nice, perhaps just the bitcoin logo. Or a gold bitcoin.
3605  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello! on: May 08, 2013, 05:06:39 AM
Welcome to the #1 Bitcoin community Smiley

As mentioned above if you are mining bitcoins with a GPU it may not be worth it in comparison to other currencies. I know mining LTC is more profitable if you are a beginner at the moment.
3606  Other / Off-topic / Re: What would you do with 25k ? on: May 08, 2013, 05:04:35 AM
Invest in a few bitcoin services/websites, or create my own.
3607  Economy / Auctions / Re: 1 BTC for PP [Starts @ $1] on: May 08, 2013, 04:53:21 AM
Paypal isn't real money, I will gladly exchange junk for something real.

It's even more junk when you factor in the odds of charge-back on a sale like this.
3608  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What'll happen to Bitcoin in 2040 when no BTC reward for new block found? on: May 08, 2013, 04:45:44 AM
The miners also gain the transaction fees.

You think it will still be profitable then for ASICS?

Yes.  It is designed to be.

Yup, transaction fees should be sufficient however mining will likely be less profitable than with the reward though unfortunately.
3609  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Big compliment from FORBES to BITCOIN on: May 08, 2013, 04:45:12 AM
Ok, let me add forbes.com to my "never trust" list... Done.

I wouldn't go that far. I understand why he feels the way he does however I feel that he is being a bit ignorant. Too many people shrug off bitcoins as a joke without looking into them seriously. When I first heard of bitcoins I thought it was some sort of scam because of how mass media and my friends described it to me but I took time to look into it and was pleasantly surprised.
3610  Other / Off-topic / Re: Should i really add "donate" address in my signature? on: May 08, 2013, 04:43:16 AM
Personally I don't think anyone really deserves a donation for a comment, if they are creating something or created something that I find useful or innovative I'd be more likely to drop them a donation.

The signatures work well on bitcointalk because people post and give to the community without feeling entitled to a donation and doing it off their own good will.
3611  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: My Visit To Butterfly Labs Today! on: May 08, 2013, 04:40:15 AM
BFL needs to step up their PR and start delivering on their promises.
3612  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Price of Bitcoin when you Jumped On-Board? on: May 08, 2013, 04:38:07 AM
Bought $10k worth at $14.

Then it crashed to $2 and I got Zhoutonged trying to get my money back.

That's very unfortunate :-|.

I've been following bitcoins since they were Sub 10, my first significant investment wasn't until they were $80 however.
3613  Other / Off-topic / Re: If anyone tries to sell a horse using bitcoin please check this first on: May 08, 2013, 04:31:13 AM
Not really sure what your situation is, but if you are in the right I certainly hope you get your horses back. I've heard of similar situations.
3614  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin666.org on: May 08, 2013, 04:29:58 AM
Maybe the 4th of July is his birthday? :-)
3615  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-05-07 WSJ: Coinbase Nabs $5M in Biggest Funding for Bitcoin Startup on: May 08, 2013, 04:28:38 AM
That's incredible, congrats to them!
3616  Economy / Economics / Re: Billionaires hate Bitcoin. on: May 08, 2013, 02:48:51 AM
I wouldn't say billionaires HATE bitcoins, most probably don't know very much about it.
3617  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Denominating a 'BitCent' as a 'Gavin' ? on: May 08, 2013, 02:34:53 AM
I think Hal makes more sense to honor as a unit.

Fully agree with that, no disrespect to Gavin.
3618  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We should go to microbits (100 satoshis) instead of millibitcoins. on: May 07, 2013, 11:52:44 PM
At this moment, everything should just be based off bitcoins/mbtc in my opinion. If Bitcoins ever reach $1000+ then I think it would be worthwhile to make some of these conversions.

mbtc is acceptable and is already coded into most clients/websites and should remain for now.
3619  Economy / Speculation / Re: Up!!! on: May 07, 2013, 11:24:09 PM
Very impressive, kudos to coinbase on their massive success.
3620  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Exploring the meaning of FinCEN and CFTC regulations in regards to Bitcoin... on: May 07, 2013, 09:08:28 PM
Is the white house ban actually real? That ireport is posted by a guy who recently made an account and posted that one article. CNN has not approved it.
Seems like a sham
