382  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: btc-e.com chat window doesn't work in chrome? on: January 31, 2013, 09:10:41 PM
using chrome 20.something

Have you turned off automatic updating? The current version is 24.x

no, i've just turned off automatic looking at the version number every 10 minutes. my chrome is indeed 24.x

i type a message in the box,

then when i hit enter, i get a little 'loading' type gif over on the right-hand side of the box for a second.

then that loading gif turns into for a split second then the whole lot dissapears and message doesn't make it into the chat window.

385  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Quality Web Wallet Help on: January 31, 2013, 11:27:23 AM
I'm not into blockchain.info I think it's called because it takes a while to sync

you are confusing blockchain.info (the web wallet) with Bitcoin's blockchain (the p2p distributed transaction database).
386  Economy / Service Discussion / btc-e.com chat window doesn't work in chrome? on: January 31, 2013, 11:07:08 AM

388  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: January 31, 2013, 04:47:05 AM
(4) Transfer the watching-only wallet to webserver and if the original wallet is offline, also import it into Armory on your online computer

i feel the it here might be ambiguous for newbies, but if you think about it, 'it' refers to the watching only wallet, not the original wallet, as that would be pointless.

393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Naming of bitcoin fractions on: January 31, 2013, 01:29:43 AM
One Bitcoin can be compared with one ounce gold coin, so we could use 1/2, 1/4, 1/10 BTC etc...

Below that, there are other weight unit, like carat (bitcarat) and grain (bitgrain)

I suggest that one carat bitcoin (bitcarat) = 1/1000 bitcoin, this sounds luxury enough Grin

And one grain bitcoin (bitgrain) = 100 satoshi = 1/1,000,000 bitcoin

haven't we already been through the carat phase?

oh wait no, that was carrots.
394  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin Gold - the gold bar that always goes up! And get the script for free on: January 31, 2013, 01:28:06 AM
uuuh, the person who gets a script, doesn't get anyone buying after them... they've essentially spent 100+ btc on it.
If the price is more than 100 BTC, then they will get the script if nobody buys after then for 2 weeks. So if people brought after them, then they wouldn't get the script Smiley

heh, that's what i said

the person who gets a script has spent 100+ btc on it

...aaaaanyway, i'm more interested in the speedy bootstrap skillz than 'the script'. did you do up this site from scratch yourself?
395  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What I have learned about BTC in 4 months. on: January 31, 2013, 01:20:39 AM
You haven't learned ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR WALLET? and also the golden rules of backups:
* if you have one back up, you actually have none.
* if you have two back up, you actually just have one.
* if all your backups are in a single physical location, you actually have no backups.

to add to that...

backups != archives
and
archives != backups

you probably want both, so understand the difference!
396  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Naming of bitcoin fractions on: January 30, 2013, 10:42:59 AM
I do think that millibitcoin and microbitcoin will confuse all the non-nerds.

but but but, milligrams, millilitres, millimetres are really not hard at all to grasp and get a feel for.

every non-nerd in non-S.I-challenged countries knows how much these units represent.
397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you continue using Bitcoin if a evil governement/organisation join in on: January 30, 2013, 10:34:06 AM

What's up with people blaming tools for human action?

Hammers ... build a nice house.

398  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin Gold - the gold bar that always goes up! And get the script for free on: January 30, 2013, 10:29:51 AM
is it still free if you pay over 100 btc for it?

if anyone wants a script like this, i will do it for only 50 Cheesy

You are not paying for the script. You are buying the gold bar off everyone else. I don't make out with the bitcoins left, they are already used to pay the previous owner Smiley

I also have some exciting things to announce when Bitcoin Gold reaches higher prices!

yes. just pointing out that the person who sends 100+ btc gets a script in return, and nothing else.

by the way TF (and whoever else ends up with this script), please be aware that the form just accepted '17' as a valid bitcoin address, and website Cheesy

Not exactly correct. They're going to get profits if someone buys after them.

uuuh, the person who gets a script, doesn't get anyone buying after them... they've essentially spent 100+ btc on it.

399  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will bitcoins provide a way to prevent government confiscation of wealth? on: January 30, 2013, 10:24:29 AM
Bitcoins? What bitcoins?  Tongue

would be funny if that was your brainwallet for when they asked you your passphrase.
